It probably wasn't a surprise to learn the parents being prosecuted over their kids not going to school didn't turn up to court. So the reason the justice wheel turns so slowly is partially because of those sorts of folks. I doubt any court action will achieve a lot in this specific case. But then you can argue it probably wasn't supposed to. Governments prosecuting parents over non-school attendances is a sad, but good, policy at the same time. Sad because we got to this point. Good because what it will achieve is a chilling effect for those who may not get to court but could have. The reason they didn't was because of the test cases we hear of this week. Like the school phone ban not everyone follows it. It's not bulletproof, but it is effective. Chilling effects are not to be underestimated. The light system in Jobseeker is another good example. When there are no consequences for not looking for work, it's amazing how many are happy to take the invitation not to do anything. Offer them a bit of stick and all of a sudden, the number of people who fail and reach red and get a benefit cut becomes negligible. Once again, what a tragedy that there seem so many who are happy enough to waste a life. But the lowest common denominator is in fact quite common, given how many frequent it. It's doubly sad of course when it comes to kids and school. It's not their fault the parents are wasters and you run the risk the habits are contagious, and the kid carries the wastage on for another generation. So no, the initial prosecution will involve the worst of the reprobates and, no, it most likely won't make a jot of difference. But enough people will see it and hear of it, it will be around the school grounds, word will spread, and with that for some anyway, what might have been will be avoided. It may well be that if a handful of kids get to go to school properly, it might eventually benefit us all. It takes a tough Government to take their people to court over something as fundamental as education. Certainly, previous ones haven't been interested and that is why, in part, we have ended up where we are. But, potentially, it's also at a point where tough love could pay off. In this episode, Jim and Curtis break down the rising threat of unauthorized drone activity near U.S. military bases—spotlighting recent incidents at Barksdale Air Force Base. As drone technology and access rapidly evolve, new vulnerabilities are emerging across critical defense infrastructure. They explore how drones enable persistent surveillance, reconnaissance, and even potential weaponization—and what that means for America's nuclear deterrence credibility and national security. The conversation also dives into current policies, legislative efforts, and the latest counter-drone technologies, highlighting the need for layered defenses and stronger coordination across federal and state agencies. Looking ahead, the hosts examine future challenges—from kinetic damage to EMP-related defenses—and make the case for the importance of public awareness and interagency cooperation in protecting U.S. installations. A conversation about war, propaganda, moral numbness, and what it takes to stay human and responsible in a collapsing public sphere. Recorded on 3 March 2026 (Day 4 of the US-Israel-Iran-Lebanon-GCC War)In this conversation, your host (Jay Humphries) and philosopher/psychologist Andreas (Dr Andreas Schreiber) begin with the language of war — pre-emption, deterrence, inevitability, and the way political language can make violence feel necessary, controlled, or already decided. From there, we move into something deeper: how repeated exposure to suffering changes us, how public trust collapses, how Europe and the West seem increasingly unable or unwilling to act independently, and how narrative itself becomes a trap. This is not just a conversation about geopolitics. It is also about meaning, morality, and responsibility. We talk about numbness after Gaza, double standards around civilian lives, the psychology of power, the failure of institutions, the roots of individualism, and what happens when technology, ideology, and fear begin to shape human consciousness more than truth does.At the centre of it all is one question:How do we stay human, connected, and responsible when the world around us is being explained through language that distances us from reality? For more details on Dr Andreas Schreiber:www.curavitae.eu/logotherapie-existenzanalyse/logotherapie/00:00 Frustration and Context 00:35 The Language of Preemption 03:46 Dystopian Wordplay 05:11 Precrime and the Policing Analogy 05:51 Numbness After Gaza 07:38 Double Standards and Civilian Lives 09:15 Negotiations Undermined 10:44 Regional Escalation 12:49 Nuclear Weapons as Deterrent 14:40 Nuclear Claims and the Iraq Echo 15:57 Gulf Destabilisation and Trade 18:54 War Momentum and Europe's Entry 22:01 Trust Collapse and UN Failure 23:11 Europe, NATO, and the Support Debate 25:19 The Reality of Regime Change 25:54 Germany and the Trust Crisis 26:14 Europe as Vassals? 28:04 NATO, Insults, and Compliance 28:55 Spain Breaks Ranks 30:14 Language and Narrative Traps 36:08 Inevitability and the Framing of War 38:35 Capitalism and the Roots of Individualism 44:59 Community, Balance, and the Tech Hijack 47:35 Secularisation and Lost Morality 50:24 Nietzsche and Self-Made Values 53:23 Power Corrupts Even Gurus 54:25 Energetic Connection and Responsibility Follow us on Instagram: @hocosoconversation and Linkedin: HoCoSo Conversation
In this episode of Building the Base, Hondo Geurts and Lauren Bedula sit down with Ken Bedingfield, Chief Financial Officer and President of Missile Solutions at L3Harris. This episode was recorded on December 6, 2025 at the Reagan National Defense Forum in Simi Valley, CA. Ken discusses his journey across the defense industrial base, from leadership at a traditional prime to serving as the 20th employee and CEO at venture-backed counter-UAS startup Epirus, to his current dual role at L3Harris. The conversation explores the fundamental shift from requirements-driven to capacity-driven defense strategy, and examines how L3Harris operates as the "tweener" between traditional primes and startups by making decisions in days rather than weeks.Five key takeaways from today's episode:Defense has shifted from requirements to capacity: The industry is moving away from chasing the last bit of capability or technology toward building production capacity at scale. Capacity itself has become a deterrent, driven by recognition of current conflicts and the real-world depletion of munitions stockpiles.Commercial contracting models benefit traditional primes too: L3Harris already derives 20% of sales through commercial models and strongly supports acquisition reform including eliminating cost accounting standards, reducing requirements, and expanding commerciality definitions; reforms often assumed to benefit only new entrants.Solid rocket motor production faces unique scaling challenges: Aerojet Rocketdyne's Camden, Arkansas facility spans 2,500 acres with 200 buildings and highly specialized regulations around explosive loads, storage, and safety. Scaling production requires understanding these complexities, suggesting new entrants should consider partnerships rather than building parallel capacity.Successful partnerships require mission alignment over technology hype: L3Harris positions itself as "connective tissue" between technology and mission capability. For example, partnering with Palantir to integrate AI into world-class electro-optic sensors rather than trying to build computer vision capabilities in-house. The key question for partnerships is "are we moving fast enough?"Public companies can innovate with the right focus: L3Harris has self-funded R&D in communications for 20 years without charging the government, and is transitioning other product lines to similar commercial models. While managing quarterly earnings and public market expectations isn't easy, publicly traded companies can find creative ways to invest and move at speed.Claude is AI and can make mistakes. HEADLINE: Sentinel ICBM Modernization is Critical and Cost-Effective Deterrent Against Great Power CompetitionGUEST NAME: Peter Huessy SUMMARY: John Batchelor speaks with Peter Huessy about the Sentinel program replacing aging 55-year-old Minuteman ICBMs, aiming for lower operating costs and improved capabilities. Cost overruns stem from necessary infrastructure upgrades, including replacing thousands of miles of digital command and control cabling and building new silos. Maintaining the ICBM deterrent is financially and strategically crucial, saving hundreds of billions compared to relying solely on submarines. The need for modernization reflects the end of the post-Cold War "holiday from history," requiring rebuilding against threats from China and Russia. 1958

You don't scale to £100M. You initiate into it. If you're ready, email or DM: INITIATED.At scale, money becomes myth and perception becomes threat. Jess explains the projection field, why elite women feel unsafe at high visibility, how icons survive it, and the exact inner and structural work (deterrent + army + conviction) that keeps your field sovereign.(0:02) Intro — Who this is for: women building between £10M–£100M and the specific energetics they face.(0:22) Two core frequencies required to scale: enthusiasm + community — embody them across your business.(1:03) What the projection field is: the collective's projections (praise → vilification) condensed into pressure on your auric field.(1:29) Noise vs. impactful projections — some comments are harmless; some hit you energetically.(2:13) Why the projection field must be managed — left unattended it causes energetic injury and collapse.(2:27) Masters vs. victims: examples — David Beckham and Taylor Swift (handled well) vs. Britney Spears (handled poorly).(3:07) Persona → Symbol → Icon: the initiation and purification required to leave legacy frequencies on the planet.(4:23) Recognition of the internal drive: if you can't stop, you're meant for this arena.(5:08) How Masters behave: Beckham's discipline; Taylor's creative solitude — different paths, same mastery.(6:25) Building an army: community as shield — if you come for the leader, you come for everyone.(10:10) The deterrent principle: show up, go eye-to-eye, and neutralise attackers.(13:36) The Eminem play: preempt attacks by owning your shadows publicly — nothing left for others to weaponise.(17:34) Conviction = armour. Example: personal ritual (40-day fast) as a micro-demo of how conviction dissolves projection.(20:46) Support systems matter — predators pick apart those without a network to absorb pressure.(22:07) Mythic status: what it means to hold symbolic frequency and why the collective will keep projecting.(23:09) One shot energy: seize the moment — don't blow it in the projection field.(23:31) Practical reminder: prepare structurally, emotionally and legally — enjoy the rewards and leave legacy frequency.(25:01) Closing: your unique imprint matters — the world needs your field. Final call to action.Projection Field Sovereignty = the job of transforming reputation risk into structural advantage.Three pillars:Deterrent — be unambiguous about protection (public posture + legal/PR readiness).Army — cultivate community that deflects and defends.Conviction — internal, immovable knowing that renders projections ineffective.Preemption (Eminem move): name your shadow publicly so others have no ammunition.Systems + ritual + network = the only sustainable way to scale to £100M without collapse.“To cross the £100M threshold you need projection sovereignty — to hold vilification, envy, adoration and distortion without collapse.”“When you own the shadows publicly, they no longer own you privately.”“If you come for me, you come for all of us.”“Conviction is not arrogance. The SentryBond technology was specifically designed for immediate-release opioids to make it difficult to manipulate pills for abuse via crushing, inhaling, or injecting. Protega partnered with software company Opus to offer a program that helps educate chronic pain patients, manage their treatment, and provides physicians with risk stratification data to improve care and reduce the likelihood of abuse. Paul explains, "Most importantly from our standpoint is to protect from the risk of misuse, abuse, and diversion, which is escalation from orally taking medications to crushing, inhaling, injecting, or smoking. Unfortunately, when that escalation happens, many times patients end up on illicit fentanyl and heroin through the black market. So what we're trying to do is stop that escalation through our abuse deterrent technology and our medication. It's called SentryBond abuse deterrent technology, the company's Protega Pharmaceuticals." "We also have a software program that we're now offering to physicians that deal and work with a lot of patients with chronic pain that really helps patients with chronic pain understand how to treat their pain and also titrate down off medications when possible, or at least get on the lowest possible dose and try multimodal care, try other types of avenues of procedures, different things they can do to help with their chronic pain." #ProtegaPharmaceuticals #PainManagement #ChronicPain #OpioidAbuse #OpioidPolicy #AbuseDeterrent. protegapharma.com Download the transcript here

John Batchelor 09-03 segment 6.mp3 Guests: Gordon Chang and Peter Huessy, President of Geostrategic Analysis, a fellow at the National Institute for Deterrent Studies. China's Nuclear Ambitions and Arms Control Challenges Peter Huessy describes China's nuclear weapons as tools for coercion and hegemonic goals, a stark contrast to the US view of deterrence. He notes China's rapid nuclear buildup, exceeding Soviet Union rates during the Cold War. Huessy and Gordon Chang discuss the imminent expiration of the New Start treaty with Russia and the absence of arms control talks with China, which has historically aided proliferation. This signals a "brave new world" with zero legal restraint on nuclear weapons. 1917 PEKING YMCA

Darrell Castle talks about the recent attack on one leg of Russia's nuclear triad and what that means for the United States, for Europe, and of course for Russia. Transcription / Notes ATTACKING THE NUCLEAR DETERRENT Hello, this is Darrell Castle with today's Castle Report. This is Friday the 6th of June in the year of our Lord 2025. I will be talking about a recent attack on one leg of Russia's nuclear triad and what that means for the United States, for Europe, and of course for Russia. This, I suppose, is the second part of my Castle Report which focused on the changing face of war and my conclusion that it means the end of the aircraft carrier as the dominant force of naval warfare, and the end of the tank as the dominant force of land warfare. Yes, the blitzkrieg of Heinz Guderian and the great carrier battles are most likely relics of past wars now but the future of war looks even more terrifying to me. Why, well because death now comes from an unmanned robot controlled by some technician perhaps thousands of miles away in a Quonset hut, with little to no human interaction. Today the attack by Ukraine deep inside Russia severely damaged Russia's strategic nuclear delivery system. The three great nuclear powers, the U.S., Russia, and China all have what is normally referred as a nuclear triad which prevents any leg of the three-legged stool from keeping that nation from responding to a nuclear attack. That triad consists of long-range nuclear bombers, submarine launched nuclear missiles, and intercontinental ballistic missiles. The triad of final nuclear defense prevents either of the three nations from final defeat in a total nuclear catastrophe which would leave the victor without much to celebrate. Over and over, I warn that total defeat of Russia is not possible while that nation's missiles are still in their silos and their submarines still patrol the oceans. Nevertheless, a few days ago Ukraine launched a massive drone attack 2700 miles inside Russia which destroyed several of Russia's long-range strategic bombers. Initial reports said 41 planes destroyed, but even Ukraine admitted that the number was more like 13 destroyed and several damaged. The Russians say that only 5 were destroyed so we can conclude that some were destroyed but how many is anyone's guess. Apparently, these bombers were some of Russia's most prized aerial assets and were vital to their nuclear triad. These aircraft were of a type no longer in production so replacing them will be very difficult and costly if it is even possible. In response, Russia of course launched its own massive drone attack inside Ukraine with 472 drones and 7 ballistic and cruise missiles. That will not be the end of the Russian response because Putin told President Trump in a recent phone call that he will have to respond so maybe the deep state is close to getting its war. This attack was more than just a bold and aggressive strike deep inside Russia against Russian air bases, it was a glaring example of the new face of war that is unlike anything the world has seen before. The Ukrainians proved with one attack how outdated the old aircraft carrier on the seas and battle tanks on the land now are. They made their own aircraft carrier out of a semi-truck and transported that carrier full of armed drones into Russia using personnel who appeared to be Russian. I have seen conflicting reports but recent after-action reports say 36% of Russian strategic aircraft worth about $2 billion were destroyed. This attack came on Sunday the day before peace talks were held in Turkey to try to resolve the conflict. It gave Zelensky a chance to brag about just having destroyed another chance at peace. Anyway, the peace talks went nowhere and reportedly lasted only 3 hours. So, all that work, preparation and expense apparently for nothing. Sometimes it seems to me that everyone in charge of anything is crazy.

Can Men and Women (Baboons) Really Just Be Friends? In the romantic comedy “When Harry Met Sally,” the central premise, as Billy Crystal and Meg Ryan's characters stay friends throughout the years, is, can men and women really just be friends? In the movie, the answer is no, not really. Spoiler alert: They do get together in the end. But what if we take that concept and bring it to the animal kingdom, specifically to primates? The Kinda baboon is known for its distinct social behaviors. Individuals form long-term, social bonds, and those relationships are seen, uniquely, between male and female baboons. Over nine years, researchers studied the Kinda baboon, a kinder, gentler species of baboon, to learn more about their social lives. Kindas are unique among baboons because they're the least sexually dimorphic: males and females are close to the same size, making them a better analog for us humans. So can male and female baboons really be just friends? Much like the movie, long friendships do happen between Kindas—but there also appears to be a benefit during mating season.Joining Host Flora Lichtman to talk about her work with these baboons is Dr. Anna Weyher, founder of the Kasanka Baboon Project in Zambia. Weyher has studied Kinda baboons for over a decade. The Best Bear Deterrent May Be DronesWhat do you do when a bear keeps coming too close to people, and doesn't take the hint to stay away? It's a serious problem, because human-wildlife conflict can be dangerous for both the people and animals involved. Wildlife managers have for years used a collection of deterrents, including firecracker noises, rubber bullets, and trained dogs, to try to chase bears away from human habitations.Writing in the journal Frontiers in Conservation Science, former Montana bear management specialist Wesley Sarmento claims that a high-tech approach may be more effective: drones. Sarmento joins Host Flora Lichtman to discuss his experiences with hazing stubborn bears.Transcripts for each segment will be available after the show airs on sciencefriday.com. Barely a week goes by without things occurring that would have been inconceivable three years ago. Russian territory being hit by American made munitions, history's most substantial sanctions in place against Russia, a near coup against the Kremlin, and Putin going cap-in-hand to Kim-Jong-Un to prop up his ailing military. What more can happen before these tensions and conflicts coalesce into World War 3 – especially the expectations that Korea troops will soon be fighting on the territory of Europe. ---------- Richard Shirreff is Co-founder and Managing Partner at Strategia Worldwide. This is number 244 in our series of “Get Biblical Understanding.” In this session we're reading many but certainly not all of the biblical verses that have to do with a Deterrent.Webster's dictionary of 1828 (which many of its definitions are taken from the Scriptures) records the act of deterring as discouraging or stopping by fear; to stop or prevent from proceeding, by danger, difficulty or other consideration which disheartens, or countervails the motive for an act.We are often deterred from our duty by trivial difficulties.GALATIANS 6:9 And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not. EPHESIANS 6:18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints; PHILIPPIANS 1:27 Only let your conversation [conduct] be as it becometh the gospel of Christ: that whether I come and see you, or else be absent, I may hear of your affairs, that ye stand fast in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel; PHILIPPIANS 3:13-14 Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. COLOSSIANS 1:27-29 To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory: Whom we preach, warning every man, and teaching every man in all wisdom; that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus: Whereunto I also labour, striving according to his working, which worketh in me mightily. 1 THESSALONIANS 2:1-2 For yourselves, brethren, know our entrance in unto you, that it was not in vain: But even after that we had suffered before, and were shamefully [spitefully] entreated, as ye know, at Philippi, we were bold in our God to speak unto you the gospel of God with much contention.

[vindication] In all things ye have approved yourselves to be clear in this matter. 2 CORINTHIANS 8:7 Therefore, as ye abound in every thing, in faith, and utterance, and knowledge, and in all diligence, and in your love to us, see that ye abound in this grace [of giving] also. 2 CORINTHIANS 8:16-17 But thanks be to God, which put the same earnest care into the heart of Titus for you For indeed he accepted the exhortation; but being more forward [diligent], of his own accord he went unto you. MATTHEW 24:45-47 “Who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his master made ruler over his household, to give them food in due season? Blessed is that servant whom his master, when he comes, will find so doing. Assuredly, I say to you that he will make him ruler over all his goods. MARK 13:13 And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake: but he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved. ACTS 5:40-42 And to him they agreed: and when they had called the apostles, and beaten them, they commanded that they should not speak in the name of Jesus, and let them go. And they departed from the presence of the council, rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer shame for his name. And daily in the temple, and in every house, they ceased not to teach and preach Jesus Christ. ACTS 14:21-22 And when they had preached the gospel to that city, and had taught many, they returned again to Lystra, and to Iconium, and Antioch, Confirming the souls of the disciples, and exhorting them to continue in the faith, and that we must through much tribulation enter into the kingdom of God. This is number 241 in our series of “Get Biblical Understanding.” In this session we're reading many but certainly not all of the biblical verses that have to do with a Deterrent.Webster's dictionary of 1828 (which many of its definitions are taken from the Scriptures) records the act of deterring as discouraging or stopping by fear; to stop or prevent from proceeding, by danger, difficulty or other consideration which disheartens, or countervails the motive for an act.We are often deterred from our duty by trivial difficulties.HEBREWS 12:26-29 Whose voice then shook the earth: but now he hath promised, saying, Yet once more I shake not the earth only, but also heaven. And this word, Yet once more, signifieth the removing of those things that are shaken, as of things that are made, that those things which cannot be shaken may remain. Wherefore we receiving a kingdom which cannot be moved, let us have grace, whereby we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear: For our God is a consuming fire. JAMES 5:9 Grudge not one against another, brethren, lest ye be condemned: behold, the judge standeth before the door. 2 PETER 2:5-6 And spared not the old world, but saved Noah the eighth person, a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood upon the world of the ungodly; And turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrha into ashes condemned them with an overthrow, making them an ensample unto those that after should live ungodly; REVELATION 2:21-23 And I gave her space to repent of her fornication; and she repented not. Behold, I will cast her into a bed, and them that commit adultery with her into great tribulation, except they repent of their deeds. And I will kill her children with death; and all the churches shall know that I am he which searcheth the reins and hearts: and I will give unto every one of you according to your works. REVELATION 3:3 Remember therefore how thou hast received and heard, and hold fast, and repent. If therefore thou shalt not watch, I will come on thee as a thief, and thou shalt not know what hour I will come upon thee. REVELATION 14:9-11 And the third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, If any man worship the beast and his image, and receive his mark in his forehead, or in his hand, The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb: And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name.
