Conference preview season, and we're starting off on a patriotic note: it's the American preview! The league struggled last year, finishing just 11th at KenPom, and only Memphis made the NCAA Tournament (and quickly bowed out). Is that a new trend for the conference? Or was it a one-year aberration with a bounceback on the way? Matt is in the wind, so Ky and Jim discuss the overall landscape of the conference before breaking it down team by team. We talk favorites, the mushy middle, and several hot seat candidates, among other topics.  The Rundown (0:10) - Intro (4:11) - Root's Roundup (12:17) - Overall American Thoughts (18:40) - Team Previews Begin Preview order: South Florida (18:54) Memphis UAB FAU Tulsa Tulane (36:48) North Texas Wichita St. Rice Charlotte (49:27) East Carolina UTSA Temple Join Basket Under Review! https://www.basketunderreview.com/ CBB Analytics - promo code WEAVE

[01:02:09] Conservatives Back Martial LawOpening monologue criticizes conservatives for supporting Trump's talk of deploying troops in U.S. cities, linking it to the Pentagon's long-term planning for urban control. [01:05:31] Prohibition, Cartels & TerrorComparison of alcohol prohibition to the drug war; warns that attacking Mexican cartels militarily could spark terrorism inside American cities and provide cover for martial law. [01:12:29] Election Rigging & GerrymanderingDiscussion of how both parties manipulate elections through gerrymandering and voting controls; frames Trump as a Pentagon puppet in a larger plan of urban militarization. [01:20:48] Conservatives Cheer MilitarizationChicago carjacking victim opposed National Guard deployment; conservatives attacked her online, showing how Trump has shifted the right to embrace authoritarian solutions. [01:29:46] Normalizing Martial LawAnalysis of how deploying troops in D.C. and other cities is “predictive programming” to normalize military presence and condition officials and citizens for broader martial law. [01:45:21] Democrats Only OppositionClosing reflections argue conservatives have abandoned constitutional limits, leaving only Democrats to oppose Trump's martial law plans—though they oppose for the wrong reasons, focusing only on partisan power. [02:19:39] Texas “Big Beautiful Map” & Election RiggingDiscussion of Texas Senate passing a gerrymandered redistricting bill, Trump pushing to ban mail-in ballots and voting machines, and how both parties manipulate elections. [02:32:18] CDC Launches Vaccine Injury ReviewCriticism of the CDC forming a group to investigate COVID vaccine injuries, framed as a whitewash to protect Trump's Operation Warp Speed and Big Pharma. [02:43:09] Hypervaccination Horror StoriesPersonal accounts of children permanently damaged after “catch-up” vaccine schedules in custody battles; broader attack on CDC and medical industry dishonesty. [02:49:41] Bioweapon Narrative & Military OperationDiscussion frames COVID vaccination as a Pentagon/DARPA military operation, not medicine, with secrecy and top-secret clearances tied to bio-surveillance. [03:08:15] Bayer, Monsanto & Legal ImmunityDeep dive into Monsanto's history with Agent Orange, PCBs, Roundup, GMOs, and Bayer's Nazi past; warnings that Trump and RFK Jr. are paving the way for legal immunity for “Big Pest.” [03:30:29] Greenland Child Seizures & Parenting TestsCase of a Greenlandic mother losing her baby under “parenting competence tests,” framed as government overreach tied to globalist family-erasure agendas. [03:35:02] Miraculous Cardiac RecoveryTeen athlete suffers sudden cardiac arrest and survives after 30 minutes without a heartbeat, presented as both a vaccine injury suspicion and a story of prayer and divine healing. [03:38:13] Legacy of James DobsonReflection on the life and influence of James Dobson—praised for defending families but criticized for Zionism and naïve trust in government institutions. Broadcast from KSQD, Santa Cruz on 8-21-2025: Dr. Dawn opens with disturbing research linking respiratory infections to breast cancer reactivation. Studies show increased breast cancer deaths during COVID beyond screening delays, suggesting viral infections may awaken dormant cancer cells through inflammatory signals. Mouse models demonstrate that influenza infection can increase metastatic burden up to 1000-fold by triggering neutrophil extracellular traps that act as growth signals for sleeping cancer cells. She covers neuroimmune crosstalk in lung fibrosis research, where mice lacking pain receptors developed worse scarring when exposed to lung injury. The absence of pain signals failed to trigger natural inflammation suppressors, leading to increased neutrophil activity and inflammatory nets that contributed to tissue damage. New food spoilage detection technology uses pH-sensitive dyes in packaging that fluoresce or change color when bacterial metabolism produces acids. This could prevent foodborne illness from contaminated deli meats and dairy products by providing visual warnings before consumption, particularly important for high-risk foods like lunch meats and mayonnaise. Dr. Dawn warns about diquat replacing glyphosate in Roundup products, potentially creating 200 times more toxicity. The new compound suppresses gut lining proteins, creating leaky gut and allowing bacterial toxins into the bloodstream, while causing permanent kidney, liver, and lung damage. Most countries have banned diquat, but it remains available in American stores. Research reveals that lactose intolerance can cause intense nightmares through gut-brain connections. Montreal studies found that people with dairy sensitivity experience more frequent, distressing dreams that improve significantly when dairy is eliminated from their diet. The mechanism likely involves gastrointestinal discomfort causing microarousals that make dreams more vivid and memorable. She describes revolutionary remote-controlled probiotics combining genetically modified E. coli with pill cameras. These bacterial robots can detect inflammation, produce therapeutic compounds on command, and communicate through bioluminescence. Applications include targeted inflammatory bowel disease treatment where bacteria manufacture anti-TNF nanobodies when activated by LED signals from swallowed capsules. An emailer with recurring diverticulitis asks about surgical options versus dietary management. Dr. Dawn explains the structural causes of diverticular disease and the vicious cycle created by repeated antibiotic treatments that damage gut microbiomes. She emphasizes the importance of dramatically increasing fiber intake and addressing underlying leaky gut issues that may contribute to the condition. A caller asks about foods for better bowel movements while managing diabetes and taking Wegovy. Dr. Dawn recommends ground flaxseed mixed into various foods and weekly preparation of roasted root vegetables for someone with limited cooking skills. The conversation becomes personal as the caller expresses concerns about housing security and healthcare access during uncertain political times. New microplastic research reveals how these particles accumulate bacteria, viruses, and toxins in biofilm "coronas" that enhance their harmful effects. Different plastic types carry varying electric charges affecting where they travel in the body. Breakthrough laser detection methods now allow precise identification and tracking of specific plastic polymers in tissues, enabling better research on health impacts. Dr. Dawn discusses advances in CAR-T cell therapy for multiple myeloma, sharing positive results from her husband's recent treatment. New research suggests injecting lipid nanoparticles containing CAR DNA instead of removing T-cells for laboratory modification, potentially making this therapy much cheaper and more accessible while maintaining effectiveness for blood cancers.

Is This the Museum World's Favorite Artist?

If you want to know which artist is having the biggest year in museums, there is one name that springs to mind for me: Cara Romero. Since her first big breakout a decade ago at Santa Fe Indian Market, Romero has been steadily growing in influence. If you don't know it yet, her photo-based art is full of color, drama, and detail. It's sometimes funny, sometimes fantastical. And it moves between a variety of themes that are extremely important in museums right now: Indigenous identities, environmental concern, science fiction, and staged or set-up photography, to name a few. For that reason, Romero finds her work part of many surveys and touring exhibitions at the moment. She had this year a mid-career retrospective at the Hood Museum at Dartmouth, “Cara Romero: Panûpünüwügai,” meaning “Living Light.” She also has a two-person spotlight with her husband, the artist Diego Romero, called “Tales of Future Past,” currently at the Crocker art Museum in Sacramento. For someone who has risen to the very top of the museum circuit, Romero has had a unique career path and story. Join The Art Angle hosts Ben Davis and Kate Brown for a special live edition of The Round-Up with special guest Matthew Higgs at Independent 20th Century Art Fair on Saturday, September 6, at 5 p.m. in New York. Purchase your tickets at Independenthq.com, and learn more about Independent 20th Century's full programming here.
