The 18-mile stretch of two-lane US-60 that skirts the New River Gorge National Park and Preserve is growing fast as a favorite route for motorcyclists and other adventure motorists. According to cyclist Jeff Lanham, founder of “Backroads of West Virginia,” the Talon explores some of the most scenic mountain lands in the U.S. and provides a variety of highway conditions, both relatively straight and exceptionally curving. The four other routes the organization is promoting include The Ridge—21 miles, following an upland range of hills north of Charleston; The Seneca Trail—213 miles, following the old Seneca warpath (US-219) through the Allegheny Mountains; The Trail of Dragons—244 miles, following WV-16 from Saint Marys to Tazewell, Va.; and The Shenandoah Sidewinder—65 miles, following US-33 from Seneca Rocks to Harrisonburg, Va. Thank you for tuning into "Starting Small", a podcast about brand development, entrepreneurship, and innovation in the modern world. In this episode, I am joined by Stan Hartling, Founder of The Hartling Group, a real estate sales and development firm specializing in luxury Caribbean condominiums and villas. Growing up in Canada, Stan was nurtured with the mindset where there is no such thing as "no" as an answer. He went on to study accounting at Saint Marys in Nova Scotia, where he went on to become a chartered accountant. Following a liquidation with an accounting firm Stan aided in growing, he attended an off shore tax seminar in Turks & Caicos. Having a vision that no-one has approached on the island, Stan went on to begin the construction of what has introduced tourism as we see it today, to Turks & Caicos. In 1996 Stan purchased an initial beachfront parcel of land on Grace Bay Beach in Providenciales, on which he planned to develop a 90-unit condominium resort. The Sands opened in December 1998 and today it is one of the most successful resorts in the region with solid year-over-year revenue growth. Since then, Stan launched The Palms in 2002, comprising 72 oceanfront luxury two- and three-bedroom suites, complete with two restaurants, a ballroom, boutiques, lobby and reception, as well as a full-service spa. situated on a prime 12-acre site, exceeded $100,000,000 in today's dollars. In 2016 The Hartling Group introduced The Shore Club on Long Bay. Traditional Barbadian-style, this project features 36 condo units and six magnificent villas within a village-like cluster of low-density buildings, all perfectly designed to offer unsurpassed views, tranquility, and the ultimate in privacy. The amenities include a guest reception, tennis courts, spa and wellness centre, retail boutique, main restaurant, and three swimming pools. Episode 1: Get to Know Tiff and Beth About Tiff Tiffany Wasson is a lover of God, people, and life! She loves to explore new things leaving no room for regret. She's a family lover, writer, author coach, hiker, aspiring drummer, and full of laughter. She lives life 100 miles per hour and does all she can to serve others so they too will find their true calling in life. She has been in ministry in some form or fashion since she was 14 years old. Her journey started out at Lighthouse Christian Broadcasting in Saint Marys, Georgia, as a youth leader, on air minister, and radio show host. Currently, she resides in Augusta, Georgia, serving her local church with her husband and two children. Overall she is passionate about helping the church in any way that she can, especially youth groups. She longs to see the next generation constantly looking to Jesus, the author and perfector of their faith (Hebrews 12:2). About Beth Hailing from California, Beth grew up on a 100 acre cattle ranch which gave her a unique perspective on life, death, and God. One of her grandpa’s mantras, “you gotta be tough to live in the country” got her through even the toughest times. Beth believes that any journey with Christ can be fraught with danger and misdirection but that even when the path is not clear, there is a way forward. With Tiffany’s help, she is excited to share the life stories of a person changed, and influence other young women for the better. Together these women make up Paving the Way Ministries, their personal project to not only give life advice but to help young women in need of love, attention, and a Christian mentor in their lives.
