In this Memorial Day episode of Hope for the Caregiver, I open up about one of the hardest—and most overlooked—struggles caregivers face: resentment. After more than 40 years in this journey, I've learned that it's not just the physical exhaustion that wears us down—it's the internal striving, the bitterness, and the sense of being forgotten. In this episode, I talk about: The difference between sleep and true rest Why striving leaves us drained and bitter A quote from my new book, A Caregiver's Companion, and the hymn that goes with it How gratitude becomes the antidote to resentment And what one surprising verse in Matthew 1:6 reveals about God's justice, memory, and hope for caregivers I also share a story from the hospital room—something small, but sacred—that brought the Gospel into sharp focus for me. If you're weary, grieving, or stuck in resentment, I hope this message will point you toward the rest only Christ can give.

Paul Krauss MA LPC speaks with John Bateson about his new book: Suicide: Understanding and Ending a National Tragedy which provides essential information about the current landscape surrounding suicide - debunking common myths, sharing demographic data, and identifying risk factors and warning signs. More than 49,000 people in the United States died by suicide in 2022 — that's one death every 11 minutes, and more than any other year dating to back at least 1941, according to the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. John Bateson has pragmatic suggestions for multiple segments of society regarding how we as a society can reduce the number of suicides in the United States. John Bateson was executive director of a nationally certified crisis intervention and suicide prevention center for 16 years. He also was executive director of three university counseling centers and deputy director of a multicounty social service agency. He served on the steering committee of the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline (now the 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline) and was appointed to a blue-ribbon committee that created the "California Strategic Plan on Suicide Prevention." What are good techniques to introduce such philosophy to people who have gone astray?I grew up in and live in a pretty leftist area, but there are also a lot of people on the far right who could use philosophy, virtually everyone I know is a statist that doesn't even know the definition of anarchy, much less the underlying principles. The problem I tend to encounter is that people on both sides tend to think that logic and reason that doesn't fit their programming must be on the opposite extreme relative to where they're at.It seems like anything rational is often opposed strongly by at least one "side", and often both sides.I was fortunate to be going through some stuff that required me to open my mind to new ideas in order to survive andor thrive, some would call it the gift of desperation. How does one approach people who aren't even willing to have an open mind?Hi Stefan, #1 during your life of philosophical inquiry, what were the top, say, 6 insights that were there most meaningful to you that "teleported" you ahead in life and you're willing to share? (Gems of knowledge do have this power...) #2 The future's SO uncertain, there are intelligent, motivated, organized folk with top (evil) work ethic fabricating danger, famine, floods, g#n@c1d3, etc. ahead. Most good/non-evil people are either morons and/or spineless inoffensive cowards who will just let whatever happen happen maybe without ever having a clue. Even ppl who are (somewhat??) aware don't feel ready or don't want to deal with the situation with 10% of the absolute seriousness it demands (AFAIC, it's the ONLY important topic on the whole planet for humanity rn). What's the best way you've found to behave towards/with those? What's the best strategy? Not sure it's an entirely philosophical Q, but, the heck, I'd love to get your POV on it anyways.GET MY NEW BOOK 'PEACEFUL PARENTING', THE INTERACTIVE PEACEFUL PARENTING AI, AND AUDIOBOOK!https://peacefulparenting.com/Join the PREMIUM philosophy community on the web for free! Also get the Truth About the French Revolution, multiple interactive multi-lingual philosophy AIs trained on thousands of hours of my material, as well as targeted AIs for Real-Time Relationships, BitCoin, Peaceful Parenting, and over 100 Call-Ins. Key Meeting DiscussionsSales Example:Sold a high-value unit to a luxury home builder at $19,000, although a $9,000 option was available.Lesson: Never indicate that you're "too busy," as it suggests a lack of value for the client's needs.Main Theme: Fighting for wealth. All battles (e.g., women's rights, civil rights) are peripheral compared to fighting for prosperity.Prosperity enables greater influence in other areas of life.Wealth vs. Middle-Class Mindset:Avoid non-income-producing tasks; focus on actions that build wealth.A middle-class mindset leads to a middle-class business system.2. Challenges and Motivational LessonsKey Question for Team: "How are you fighting for wealth this week?"Aim for income-producing activities.Challenge the team to evaluate daily actions that do not contribute to wealth.Mindset and Productivity:Consider how your current actions align with long-term prosperity. The importance of taking massive action and staying focused on wealth-producing activities."Autopilot" Pitfall:Many tasks are done automatically and do not contribute to prosperity.Get off autopilot and align actions with supreme destiny.3. Health and ProsperityHealth as a Foundation:Wealth without health is meaningless; they must coexist.Focus on health as an important goal alongside wealth.Commitment to Health:Personal example: Combat sugar cravings with practical action, like brushing teeth whenever there's a temptation to eat sweets.Link between gut health and cravings—awareness of the impact on overall productivity.4. Leadership, Execution, and GrowthContent Production Commitment:The aim is to produce more content than anyone else in 2020.Self-reliance in content creation—work independently to ensure speed and consistency.Encouraging Team to Take Action:Team members encouraged to set specific goals and be held accountable.Overcome barriers such as fear and self-doubt by focusing on consistent content creation.Personal Challenges Shared:Examples of personal struggles (e.g., posting content and worrying about likes).Encourage a focus on wealth, not on external validation through likes or social media metrics.Call to Action for Wealth and Health:Punish procrastination; reward progress towards prosperity.Challenge team members and listeners to prioritize wealth-building above all distractions.5. Key Takeaways and LessonsFocus Areas:Wealth-building should take precedence over other battles.Make intentional decisions that promote growth and prosperity daily.Daily Practices:Make 3-4 significant decisions per day that drive wealth.Avoid focusing on peripheral battles that do not contribute directly to wealth.Accountability:The importance of discipline and consistent action, not relying on motivation alone.Commit to outworking everyone—content production, wealth focus, and proactive behavior are key.Support this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/the-secret-to-success/exclusive-contentAdvertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brandsPrivacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy

Fought between 8 March and 18 July 1944, the battles of Imphal and Kohima were the turning point of one of the most gruelling campaigns of the Second World War (1939-45). The decisive Japanese defeat in north-east India became the springboard for the Fourteenth Army's subsequent re-conquest of Burma. Joining me for this episode is Robert Lyman, author of the excellent A War of Empires; Japan, India, Burma and Britain 1941-45. The book covers the defeat of the British and Indian armies in 1941-42, the change of commanders, the restructuring, training of the army and new tactics, and the extraordinary victories culminating in Mandalay in May 1945 and the collapse of all Japanese forces in Burma. But that is a big topic to cover. So I thought we would focus on the battle of Kohima and, to some extent, Imphal. In 2013, a British National Army Museum poll voted the Battles of Kohima and Imphal as ‘Britain's Greatest Battle'. Patreonpatreon.com/ww2podcast

To the Soviet Union, the sacrifices that enabled the country to defeat Nazi Germany in World War II are sacrosanct. The foundation of the Soviets' hard-won victory was laid during the battle for the city of Stalingrad, resting on the banks of the river Volga. To Russians it was a pivotal landmark of their nation's losses, with more than two million civilians and combatants either killed, wounded, or captured during the bitter fighting from September 1942 to February 1943. Both sides endured terrible conditions in brutal, relentless house-to-house fighting. Within this life-and-death struggle, Soviet war correspondents lauded the fight for a key strategic building in the heart of the city, “Pavlov's House,” which was situated on the frontline and codenamed “The Lighthouse.” The legend grew of a small garrison of Russian soldiers from the 13th Guards Rifle Division holding out against the Germans of the Sixth Army, which had battled its way to the very center of Stalingrad. A report about the battle in a local Red Army newspaper would soon grow and be repeated on Moscow radio and in countless national newspapers. By the end of the war, the legend would gather further momentum and inspire Russians to rebuild their destroyed towns and cities. This story has become a pillar of the Stalingrad legend and one that can now be analyzed and told accurately. The Lighthouse of Stalingrad: The Hidden Truth at the Heart of the Greatest Battle of World War II (Scribner, 2022) sheds new light on this iconic battle through the prism of the two units who fought for the very heart of the city itself. Iain MacGregor traveled to both German and Russian archives to unearth previously unpublished testimonies by soldiers on both sides of the conflict. His riveting narrative lays to rest the questions as to the identity of the real heroes of this epic battle for one of the city's most famous buildings and provides authoritative answers as to how the battle finally ended and influenced the conclusion of the siege of Stalingrad. There is one symbol that people all over the world – whether Christian or not – associate most with Jesus: The cross. It's worn on jewelry, displayed on signs and depicted in artwork. The cross is central to our faith. But do we really know how Jesus' death enabled our salvation? Spiritually speaking, what actually happened on the cross? The truth is, the New Testament writers themselves couldn't quite agree. Many of us might not even realize that we are familiar with only one explanation of why Jesus had to die. Leading up to Easter, we'll walk through four theologies of atonement - as a way for all of us to more deeply understand the “why” of the cross. Recorded live at CrossWinds Church on March 19, 2023.

“The biggest battle in life is with yourself.” - Dennis Prager Yesterday marked the 7th year of this podcast and once again I want to thank everyone who listens to the Future Self Podcast with Pete Cohen. Today I am going to give you insights into overcoming your greatest battle. What is your greatest struggle? It is the resistance within yourself. Resistance is the act of fighting against something that is attacking you. It is a force that acts to stop the progress of something or make it slower. If resistance prevents us from evolving into the person we want to be, then why do we allow it? More importantly, how do we take hold of it? Continue to tune in while I present different perspectives, including the answers to these questions. Highlights: ⚡️We have the power to bring our ideas into life every day. ⚡️Resistance is part of every human being. ⚡️Many people start and stop things because they are unaware of the resistance.

An excellent single source of the battle. Then, Prelude to the 1st Battle of El Alamein. With the coming battle at El Alamein, C in C Auchinleck knows he has to win, because Alexandria is only 70 miles or 112 kms away. If Egypt falls, then the entire Middle East is at risk. And though the Allied dispositions and forts are far from perfect, the BBC lends a hand by declaring El Alamein a fortified defensive line of the first order, which gives Rommel pause. To kick off this week's episode I'm sharing my Top 5 Tips to help you prepare for the Silly Season! We then dive into another powerful guest episode as I sit down with 46yr old, mother of three boys, Lucy Chapman. Lucy gave up drinking on the 1st of March, 2021 after almost losing everything. For years she had thought her substance use was “under control” until she found herself drinking around the clock and unable to leave her son's bedroom. At one year sober, Lucy was diagnosed with cancer and the second battle for her life begun. Lucy credits her recovery program as to why she's been able to face life's challenges whilst maintaining an overwhelming sense of gratitude. You can view Lucy's BTS Photo on the website HERE.
