In this nostalgic episode, Payal speaks with Fredrick, who takes us back to his childhood in a rural kampong more than sixty years ago. He recalls life in a muddy, undeveloped neighborhood, where daily routines included helping his mother rear pigs and chickens, fetching water from ponds, and playing freely in the rain. Fredrick paints a rich picture of open spaces filled with fruit trees, local opera stages, and nearby quarries, a world full of simplicity and adventure. He also reminisces about his early years living in a colonial black-and-white house, where his father worked as a cook, and where he first encountered music through a gramophone. Through his warm storytelling, Fredrick reflects on a childhood rooted in nature, play, and heartfelt memories of a bygone Singapore.[Lumina Vitae,Light of Life,Melting Pot Series, Podcast,The Bloom Fund,Stories of Singapore,Heritage ReimaginedCommunity Through Art,Singapore Stories]#LuminaVitae #MeltingPotSeries #TheBloomFund #SingaporeStories #CommunityArt #TheBloomFund #SingaporeHeritage #AIMeetsMemory #IntergenerationalStories #NHB Hosted on Acast. What gives someone the courage to stand up for truth—even when it costs them everything? Martin Luther’s bold stand for the Gospel wasn’t born from rebellion but from revelation. Rooted in Ephesians 2:8, his discovery that salvation comes by grace through faith ignited a movement that changed history. Having the heart of a reformer means loving God, loving His Church, and being unwilling to compromise the truth of Scripture—no matter the consequences. Highlights A reformer’s heart begins with a deep passion to draw close to God and live by His Word. Luther’s relentless study of Scripture led him to uncover the truth of salvation by grace, not works. True reformers love the Church enough to seek its correction, not its destruction. Luther’s bold action—nailing his 95 Theses—sparked a spiritual awakening that shaped Christianity. Sharing the truth requires courage, humility, and a willingness to face rejection. Luther’s legacy reminds us that faithfulness to God’s Word outweighs fear of man. Every believer is called to carry that same conviction—to speak truth in love and protect the purity of the Gospel. In this episode of The Clay Edwards Show, we dive into a controversial officer-involved shooting in Jackson, Mississippi. A retired FBI expert, Jeffery Artis, has deemed the deadly force used by Capitol Police officers Michael Rhinewalt and Steven Fredrick as justified during a 2022 traffic stop that killed Jaylen Lewis. On September 25, 2022, officers attempted to pull over Lewis's Jeep, linked to auto burglaries. The vehicle struck a police car and accelerated toward the officers, prompting them to fire. Lewis was armed with handguns, an assault rifle, and drugs were found inside. Despite the officers' fears for their lives—backed by witness accounts, including passenger Selena Hayes, who said Lewis was fleeing, not targeting them—Rhinewalt and Fredrick face manslaughter charges from the Attorney General's office, indicted in April 2025.Artis, drawing on Supreme Court standards, argues the response was objectively reasonable, viewing the vehicle as a deadly weapon. Join us as we unpack the evidence, expert analysis, and implications for police accountability.

Send us a textA Jeep named Blasphemy idled outside a church he never meant to visit—and a single text pushed the door open. What followed wasn't a lightning bolt but a slow, stubborn grace that met a former Luciferian in his grief, his doubts, and his need for peace. We sit down with Frederick to trace the path from fear-based power to a life anchored in Christ, including the moment he saw a cross “lit” that shouldn't have been, the day he renounced the enemy out loud on a lonely road, and the quiet practices that turned turmoil into clarity. We also dig into a question that confuses and scares many: can Christians be possessed by demons? With biblical grounding and help from Dr. Andrew Farley's teaching, we draw a firm line—indwelt by the Holy Spirit means not possessed. The enemy's weapons are accusation, deception, and distraction from the outside, but our identity in Christ—holy, forgiven, a new creation—secures the inside. That shift moves us from demon-focused anxiety to Jesus-centered confidence. Finally, we get practical about living a victorious life. Not hype—habits. We talk discipline that looks like devotion: reading Scripture in context, praying out loud when the mind runs wild, choosing daily to walk as a child of God with power, love, and a sound mind. If you've wrestled with dark nights, lingering shame, or the lies that keep you small, this story and the truths we unpack will help you stand tall in the light. If this conversation encouraged you, share it with a friend who needs hope today. It got me thinking that I really want to start something with my Legacy Fiber Artz minis from previous year advents. Maybe a Granny Stripe blanket? Or perhaps another Recollections crochet blanket. I made one in the summer of 2022 (check out my Ravelry Project Page). It uses fingering weight yarn held triple and treble crochets. You work each row right to left and cut each time. between each set of clusters you use a main color. Debating using Fibernymph 10g minis from last year's advent for those rows (notes say it used- about 8g per row but that's held triple which might just be too annoying). I'm debating making a smaller blanket that will live on the backseat of my car, draped over. Mostly for the pop of color with my gray interior but I bet the kids would use it when they're back there. I'd also like to make a crocheted granny square tank top for the summer so I could potentially use some of my minis for that. Do you have any ideas for me?   From the Armchair   The Wandering Purl YouTube channel- I have a Gilmore Girls sock sized bag from Bethany and I know lots of you are fans of her, but I didn't realize she had a channel!  Enjoying her content, check it out. (free crochet pattern on Ravelry). Yarn has a lot of twist, got all tangly and we stayed after to untangle it together while other cast members performed on stage. On the first night of rehearsal one of my cast-mates asked about my knitting and through that conversation we figured out we've worked together before. She was the choreographer when I was in a production of Crazy for You at a local community college when I was in high school. I wore my Aurealis sweater (Ravelry Project Page) one night to music rehearsal and my friend Deana complimented it and I told her I knit it! Laura's sock drawer! It was obviously a bittersweet trip. Ryan Wilson said it best when he said before talking about 2 winners- in some ways this is the most important year because its the first one without Mom and we're still doing it. Sometimes it helps just to lean into that, don't pressure yourself and then lean back in when you get the urge. More often, what works best is to start something new (or pick back up something that is exciting you). Ideally something small like a hat or a toy so you get that dopamine hit of finishing something fun to get those creative juices flowing. Search your Ravelry favorite or queue, browse Instagram or Pinterest and let yourself day dream a little. Creative time should be fun so find the fun and you'll be excited to get back into things.
