Alec Baldwin is suing Kari Morrissey and others involved in the Rust case. The lawsuit stems from Baldwin claiming he was wrongly prosecuted for the accidental shooting death of Helena Hutchins on the set of Rust. The case was dismissed due to prosecutorial misconduct. Baldwin is suing for violation of his civil rights, conspiracy, malicious abuse of process, defamation and other causes of action.Attorney Alex Spiro represents both Baldwin and Jay-Z. The judge in the Jay-Z case has had enough of his antics, who has asked him to tone down his inflammatory language, ad hominem attacks and filing copious amounts of litigation to seemingly drown the other side. The "It Ends With Us" lawsuits are a trilogy of litigation. The lawsuits are centered around allegations of harassment, retaliation, and breach of contract. Stephanie Jones and her company, Jonesworks, are suing Justin Baldoni, Wayfarer, Jennifer Abel, Melissa Nathan, and up to 10 John Does for secretly coordinating a media smear campaign against Baldoni's film co-star, Blake Lively, and then used the crisis as an opportunity to drive a wedge between Jones and Baldoni, and to publicly pin blame for this smear campaign on Jones - when Jones had no knowledge or involvement in it.Justin Baldoni sued The New York Times for an article published on December 21st, 2024 covering a complaint filed by Blake Lively with the California Civil Rights Department. He alleges the Times failed to properly investigate these claims before publishing its article and it is defamatory, constitutes false light, invasion of privacy, promissory fraud, and breach of implied-in-fact contract. Blake Lively filed a lawsuit against Justin Baldoni, Jamey Heath, Wayfarer, Jennifer Abel, Melissa Nathan in New York alleging the same things filed in the California Complaint. From what's been filed, here's what we know: Timeline of Events: Before May 8, 2019: Colleen Hoover's novel "It Ends With Us" is published and becomes a bestseller. On or about May 8, 2019: Wayfarer Studios secures an option for the book's rights. Before May 5, 2023: An actor agreement is made between It Ends With Us Movie, LLC and Blake Lively's company, Blakel, Inc. This agreement includes a Nudity Rider. May 5, 2023: Actor agreement signed. January 19, 2024: The Nudity Rider, part of the actor agreement, is signed by both Blake Lively and Jamey Heath. February 8, 2024: Melissa Nathan and Jennifer Abel exchange texts discussing strategies to manage negative publicity, including the potential to "bury" Blake Lively. They discuss a "social combat plan". Early May 2024: Justin Baldoni attends a floral-themed trailer launch event for the movie. July 25, 2024: Justin Baldoni participates in a pop-up event promoting the film. July 26, 2024: Justin Baldoni shares a Variety article about Francis Ford Coppola's behavior on set with Jennifer Abel. July 29, 2024: The Nudity Rider is updated. August 4, 2024: Jennifer Abel discusses planting negative stories about Blake Lively. Melissa Nathan is involved in conversations suggesting ways to manage and counteract negative press. April 1, 2024 ~ Later today, Governor Whitmer will sign the “Michigan Family Protection Act” to protect surrogacy access and ensure all children can have a legal relationship with their parents. The founder of the Michigan Fertility Alliance, Stephanie Jones, talks with Guy, Lloyd, and Jamie about what's in the package of bills.

Last week, a Senate committee moved bills requiring the Governor and state legislators to respond to public records requests through Michigan's Freedom of Information Act. Meanwhile, some House Democrats introduced still more transparency bills involving 501(c)4 or 527 accounts not regulated by Michigan's campaign finance laws.  Executive Director Nick Pigeon of the Michigan Campaign Finance Network and Lisa McGraw, the public affairs manager of the Michigan Press Association, join the MIRS team to discuss the transparency proposals (1:34). Also, Stephanie Jones, the founder of the Michigan Fertility Alliance, details why her organization supports legislation authorizing surrogacy contracts in the state. Currently, state statute views surrogate parentage contracts as void and unenforceable (29:23).  MIRS was also joined by Director Julia Dale of Michigan's Unemployment Insurance Agency. She explains how a lack of resources makes it difficult to recover money lost to fraudulent claims made during the COVID-19 pandemic (49:12).

Utah has been thrown into a whirlwind of controversy following the arrest of YouTube vlogger Ruby Franke's business partner, Jodi Hildebrandt, on child abuse charges. Alongside Franke, Hildebrandt was involved in counseling Mormon couples and families through her life coaching service, ConneXions. However, former patients are now shedding light on practices they believe were more akin to a cult than genuine counseling. Hildebrandt's program, described by seven former patients who accessed her services between 2008 and 2019, methodically isolated individuals from their loved ones, used "truth" and "deception" to manipulate perceptions, and even reportedly shattered marriages. "She wanted everything to stay in the group. You're not allowed to have a different opinion than her," commented Stephanie Jones, a former patient. The revelations come amidst a shocking incident where Franke's malnourished 10-year-old daughter and injured 12-year-old son were found in Hildebrandt's residence, leading to both women facing six counts of felony child abuse. Utah has been thrown into a whirlwind of controversy following the arrest of YouTube vlogger Ruby Franke's business partner, Jodi Hildebrandt, on child abuse charges. Alongside Franke, Hildebrandt was involved in counseling Mormon couples and families through her life coaching service, ConneXions. However, former patients are now shedding light on practices they believe were more akin to a cult than genuine counseling. Hildebrandt's program, described by seven former patients who accessed her services between 2008 and 2019, methodically isolated individuals from their loved ones, used "truth" and "deception" to manipulate perceptions, and even reportedly shattered marriages. "She wanted everything to stay in the group. You're not allowed to have a different opinion than her," commented Stephanie Jones, a former patient. Are we truly promoting self-control or just compliance to adult demands? How can we engage students in deep, effortless, and meaningful learning experiences? Stephanie M. Jones is the Gerald S. Lesser Professor in Child Development and Education and Director of the EASEL Lab at the Harvard Graduate School of Education. Her research, anchored in prevention science, focuses on the effects of poverty and exposure to violence on social, emotional, and behavioral development from early childhood through early adolescence. Over the past fifteen years, her work has centered on evaluation research addressing the impact of preschool- and elementary-level social-emotional learning interventions on behavioral and academic outcomes and classroom practices, as well as new curriculum development, implementation, and testing. Stephanie is also co-Director (with Nonie Lesaux) of the Saul Zaentz Early Education Initiative and Co-PI of the Early Learning Study at Harvard (ELS@H). She serves on numerous national advisory boards and expert consultant groups related to social-emotional development, early childhood education, and child and family anti-poverty policies, including recently as a member of the Council of Distinguished Scientists for the Aspen National Commission on Social, Emotional, and Academic Development. Her research is published in academic and educational journals as well as in trade publications, and she regularly presents her work to national academic and practitioner audiences.
