Kopman Primoz Roglic zag eerder al Robert Gesink, Tobias Foss en vervanger Jos van Emden afhaken door corona en vervolgens werd meesterknecht Jan Tratnik aangereden door een auto. Vervangers worden volgens Maxime letterlijk ingevlogen, maar toch lijkt dit een flinke aderlating voor de geel-zwarten.  Toch heeft Michael Boogerd hoop voor de ploeg: ‘'Soms kan het onverwacht heel goed gaan om op het laatste moment in te vallen, ik ben nog niet eens zo pessimistisch over deze ploeg.''  Hij wijst erop dat ook Contador een keer moest invallen en van het strand werd geplukt, maar toen toch de Giro won. Mart vreest een kabbelend begin van de Giro omdat topfavorieten Roglič en Evenenpoel eerst de kat uit de boom kijken. Michael kijkt wel uit naar de komende weken want, zegt Michael: ''in de Giro gebeuren gelukkig altijd gekke dingen.''

It was an exciting opening day of racing at #Wollongong2022 World Championships. Tobias Foss surprised the world of cycling taking out the Elite Mens Time Trial, with Ellen van Dijk claiming the Elite Women's title. We catch up with Australian Luke Plapp live who finished in 12th position.

Tobias Foss beat Steffan Kung and Remco Evenepoel to get his first pro win outside of Norway. Jumbo-Visma rider unexpectedly won World Championships 2022 Men's Time-Trial.
