De Tour dendert door en na wat nabranders over etappe 9 - want er werd wielerhistorie geschreven met de één na snelste Tour etappe ooit - wordt er snel vooruitgeblikt naar etappe 10. De aankomst in Clermont-Ferrand brengt herinneringen boven, maar het sentiment maakt snel plaats voor realisme: etappe 10 wordt andere koek. Of zoals Thomas zou zeggen: vandaag kun je jezelf goed voor de gek houden. De renners krijgen geen moment rust, klim na klim - voor een groot deel van het peloton wordt het lossen en aanklampen. Wie hier in z'n eentje komt te zitten is de sjaak. De tijdslimiet gaat spoken, want met 7 klimmen van de tweede categorie is dit zo'n dag waarop de bezemwagen ineens heel dichtbij kan komen. Die erste richtig bergige Etappe führte über ca. 4.500 Höhenmeter durch das von uns sehr geliebte Zentralmassiv.Ein Ausreißergruppe (zu Beginn mit etwa 30 Fahrern) kämpfte sich über insgesamt 8 Bergwertungen. Am Ende hatte der Giro-Sieger Simon Yates die besten Beine und fuhr den ersten Sieg für Visma ein. Er siegte vor Arensman und Healy.In Bezug auf das Hauptfeld hoffte man vergebens auf einen Schlagabtausch, am Ende war es eher eine laue Nummer. Wir müssen wohl auf das Hochgebirge warten. König Tadej überließ Ben Healy das gelbe Trikot - er hätte es an diesem Tag wohl nicht abgeben müssen!Unser Lipo fährt weiter überragend, weiter so!Lenny Martinez erkämpfte am Tag der Franzosen das Bergtrikot. Grandioser Einsatz. Pure Leidenschaft.Gigi Zimmermann trat heute leider nicht zur Etappe an, seine Verletzungen vom gestrigen Sturz waren dann wohl doch zu groß. Gute Besserung, Gigi!Wie geht es weiter? Am Dienstag ist Ruhetag. Am Mittwoch geht es mit der nächsten Flachetappe in und um Toulouse weiter. Obwohl diese Etappe als Flachetappe deklariert wurde kann man ziemlich sicher mit einer Ausreißergruppe rechnen. Das Terrain ist doch sehr hügelig und 8,8 Km vor Ziel wartet noch ein Anstieg der 3. Kategorie. Het zal een van zijn meest zwaar bevochten één secondes van zijn leven zijn, maar Mathieu van der Poel heeft de gele trui terugveroverd. In een loodzware etappe naar Vire Normandie sloop hij na een lang gevecht mee in de juiste ontsnapping, die het hield tot het einde. Ben Healy toverde een vintage Ben Healy uit zijn sloffen en er was hommeles tussen Tadej Pogačar en Visma | Lease a Bike. Die had zijn aanval minutieus voorbereid en zei achteraf dat zijn plan perfect verlopen was. Dat geldt niet voor Mathieu van der Poel. Hij wist op voorhand dat hij het geel kon heroveren, maar wilde eigenlijk alleen in een grote groep meespringen. Want toen hij eenmaal met zeven kornuiten op pad was, realiseerde hij zich dat hij zijn kansen op de zege naar Mûr-de-Bretagne wel eens kon verspelen. Donderdag kostte hem vijf jaar van zijn leven.De acht vluchters kregen wel de complimenten van wereldkampioen Tadej Pogačar, die op zijn beurt dan weer geen snars begreep van de tactiek van Visma | Lease a Bike. De Sloveen kreeg het idee dat de Nederlandse ploeg hem in de gele trui wilde houden. Volgens ploegleider Arthur van Dongen is daar niets van waar, maar misschien was dat steekje onder water wel een reactie op wat er 's morgens voorviel. Toen wilde Jonas Vingegaard namelijk niet starten in de bolletjestrui vanwege het feit dat daar een oude sponsornaam van de ploeg op stond. Er was even sprake van dat Tim Wellens zich zodoende in extremis nog moest omkleden, maar het liep met een sisser af.Er waren meer zaken die opvielen donderdag richting het verloop van de Tour. Zo sprintte MVDP plots mee bij de tussensprint en wakkerde hij eigenhandig de discussie weer aan of hij voor de groene trui moest gaan, of niet. Net na dat onderwerp eigenlijk was afgesloten. Jonathan Milan pakte de leiding voor eerst over, maar de Nederlander volgt nu op vier puntjes. En onderweg sprokkelde ook Wellens weer bergpuntjes, waardoor Pogačar na één etappe alle truien alweer kwijt is - en dus ook alle plichtplegingen niet hoeft af te werken. De wereld- en olympisch kampioen zag een veel betere Pogačar, maar was dan weer niet verrast door het grote verlies van Vingegaard. De Belg had daar ook een verklaring voor: Vingegaard is de lichtste van de drie kleppers, waardoor hij qua absoluut vermogen sowieso het onderspit moet delven tegen hemzelf en Pogačar. De Deen had dan ook het parcours nog eens tegen én Evenpoel stipt aan dat hij en de Sloveen solo's in klassiekers kunnen rijden. Volgens hem is dat de reden voor het tijdsverlies van de Deen.Overigens blijft Evenepoel ook de headlines van de (inter)nationale wielermedia beheersen op een ander vlak. Andermaal zingt het gerucht rond dat hij na dit seizoen tussentijds naar Red Bull-BORA-hansgrohe gaat vertrekken. Wir freuen uns auf alles, was da kommt!Bis 30 Km kämpfte eine vierköpfige Spitzengruppe vor dem Feld. Aber es bleibt dabei.
