De Dauphine verveelt geen moment. Visma wint de ploegentijdrit, zelfs zonder Wout van Aert, die er al na acht minuten af moest. Nog een kleine maand en dan gaat de Tour de France 2026 van start. Zo langzaamaan begint ook de voorpret richting de grootste wielerwedstrijd op de kalender. Maar niet voordat we nog even terugblikken op een sensationele ontknoping van de Giro d'Italia Women én de nieuwe diskwalificatie van Jan-Willem van Schip. Stage 16 of the Giro d'Italia 2026 and Jonas Vingegaard made it four summit finishes from four. Bellinzona to Carì - just 113 kilometres but over 3,000 metres of climbing. Visma weren't giving up control today. The break was kept on a tight leash, and when Decathlon took over with 35km to go, the race was about to explode. Piganzoli ripped the selection apart before Jonas even launched. Pellizzari was dropped early. Ciccone, frustrated after another miss in the break, sat up with 17km to go. Stage 14 of the Giro d'Italia 2026 was the hardest day by far. Ciccone was in the break again, but it was always going to be a tough ask today. Visma rode at the front of the peloton for pretty much the whole stage, and during the final climb, it played out exactly how everyone expected. Campenaerts, Kuss and Piganzoli each took turns to close the gap on the break before Vingegaard let rip and proved everyone right. Gall rode his own race at his own pace.
