Two Wilson County historical landmarks attracted visitors who were attending an international event March 12-14 in neighboring Atascosa County. About half of the participants in the 37th annual International Windmillers' Trade Fair in Pleasanton took time away from their gathering March 13 to tour the Wilson County Jailhouse Museum in Floresville and the Dewees-Remschel House southwest of Poth. The Windmillers gather annually “from all over” to share their enthusiasm for windmills, which includes looking at old windmills, sharing photos, and swapping windmill parts. Thirty South African agro-processing companies from six provinces will showcase their products at the Anuga International Trade Fair in Cologne, Germany, this week. The biennial event, themed "Sustainable Growth," is the world's largest food and beverage fair, drawing distributors, retailers and importers globally. In 2023, over 7,900 companies from 118 countries exhibited, with 140,000 trade visitors from 200 countries attending. The South African participation is supported by the Department of Trade, Industry and Competition through its Export and Marketing and Investment Assistance Scheme, aimed at helping local products enter new markets. This year's China International Fair for Trade in Services will continue through Wednesday next week in Beijing. Over 2,400 companies are attending the fair, which has organized events such as forums and business talks.

He then attended the VivaTech trade fair in Paris, giving a conference in front of 4,000 tech enthusiasts. Fair Trade is a term for an arrangement designed to help producers in developing countries achieve sustainable and equitable trade relationships.The fair trade movement combines the payment of higher prices to exporters with improved social and environmental standards. The movement focuses in particular on commodities, or products that are typically exported from developing countries to developed countries but is also used in domestic markets.In this Episode I had a talk with Paul Manfred, consultant for the fresh produce industry from farm to table, about the United States, Mexico, and Canada fair trade, this agreement was implemented to supposedly benefit American farmers, ranchers, and agribusinesses, however, is far from perfect, not always deliver the intended results and in some specific circumstances it can be unfair and not as equitable as it ought to be.

The story of Madame Sara Spencer-Washington would be lost to not only African-American history, but US history as a whole, were it not for her descendants and the work of author Cheryl Woodruff-Brooks. With a goal of introducing a new generation of children, "The Story of Madame Sara Spencer-Washington and the Apex Empire" is one of an entrepreneur who broke boundaries. In 1911, Spencer-Washington moved from Virginia to Atlantic City, New Jersey and started the Apex News and Hair Company, a door-to-door cosmetics business and hair salon, which she transformed to an international empire. With hundreds of products, and 45-thousand agents around the world, Spencer-Washington opened beauty schools and expanded to Haiti and South Africa. She was honored at the New York World's Trade Fair in 1939 for her endeavors, and also served as a philanthropist and civic leader. Cheryl Woodruff-Brooks had a passion for writing from childhood, and won awards for her essays. A graduate of Case Western Reserve University, she wrote for the school newspaper The Weathervane; her works have also appeared in Bronze Magazine, among other publications. Her first book for Sunbury Press was the 2017 release, "Chicken Bone Beach: A Pictorial History of Atlantic City's Missouri Avenue Beach," which was nominated for a literary award by the Schomburg Center in New York City. Cheryl is also an accomplished singer-songwriter; she lives with her family in Hummelstown, Pennsylvania.

It will be conducted for its 24th year by the Sons of Liberty Muzzleloading Rifle Club, will take place on Saturday, Jan. 21 from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday, Jan. 22 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. The fair will be held in the main lodge of Canter's Cave, located at 1362 Caves Road west of Jackson.
