Logistics is an unorganized industry. Not a lot has changed in a very long time, and this industry is ripe for disruption. One of the big problems in India (and globally), is the transport of empty containers. This is what happens:(1) Once a container lands in India, it goes to the Importer's premises by road and it is unloaded.(2) Once unloaded, the empty container goes back to a depot, where it is inspected and then it is re-used for Export.(3) Once again, post inspection - the empty container travel by road to the Exporter's premises. This delays exports. Stretches working capital for shipping lines. No one wins. And this is precisely the problem that MatchLog is trying to solve. It tracks empty containers and links importers & exporters. They inspect the empty containers so that it doesn't have to travel all the way back to depots.MatchLog works with various stakeholders in the Logistics industry and through their platform have been able to drive efficiencies for all players involved.I had a blast picking Harsh's brain about all things Logistics and how they built MatchLog through several iterations. Join Jeff Tigger Erhardt, Rebecca Wanner AKA BEC and their crew as they head to the skies, using the latest technology to control noxious weeds.  Plus reactions to “The One, Big, Beautiful Bill”, news updates, markets and lots more on this all new episode of The Ranch It Up Radio Show. Be sure to subscribe on your favorite podcasting app or on the Ranch It Up Radio Show YouTube Channel. Top Reasons To Use Drones For Spraying Pastures & Weeds  Agri Drones can seed and spray chemicals when fields are not ready for equipment and it is more precise than other aerial seeding options. Plus a drone can avoid obstacles and pinpoint certain areas.  You can find out more about who we used to control our noxious weeds by clicking Pro Ag Solutions. 1. Precision Application Targeted spraying of individual weed patches instead of blanket applications Reduces herbicide waste and chemical drift GPS-guided flight paths ensure consistent coverage and record-keeping 2. Access Hard-to-Reach Areas Drones can easily reach: Steep terrain Wet ground or boggy spots Brushy fence lines and ravines Eliminates the need to risk equipment damage or operator safety in difficult terrain 3. Reduced Soil Compaction No heavy tractor tires driving over sensitive ground Helps preserve soil structure and forage health 4. Time & Labor Savings Faster setup and application time compared to manual or vehicle-based sprayers Reduces labor requirements — one operator can manage several acres per hour Perfect for small patches or spot treatments that aren't worth dragging out a boom sprayer 5. Ideal for Sensitive Areas Less impact on: Native grasses Wildlife habitat Waterways (when used with precision nozzles and appropriate buffers) 6. Data Collection & Monitoring Many drones are equipped to map weed infestations before spraying Enables before-and-after analysis, recordkeeping, and adaptive management 7. Cost-Effective for Small & Mid-Sized Pastures Great return on investment for: Pastures under 200 acres Rotational grazing systems Landowners or ranchers who want more control over timing and application Cattle News Cattlemen's Groups React to “The One, Big, Beautiful Bill” The U.S. Cattlemen's Association (USCA) and the National Cattlemen's Beef Association (NCBA) commented on the successful passage of "The One, Big, Beautiful Bill", which includes several provisions critical to the U.S. livestock industry and wins for America's family farmers and ranchers. A few of the highlights include: Livestock Indemnity Program  Establishes a payment rate for losses due to predation at 100% of the market value and losses due to adverse weather or disease at 75% of the market value.  Introduces additional payments for unborn livestock death losses incurred on or after January 1, 2024, at a rate determined by the Secretary, not exceeding 85% of the payment rate for the lowest weight class of livestock.  Livestock Forage Disaster Program  Allows for two monthly payments and specifying eligibility criteria based on grazing periods and expands the program by allowing it to kick in after 4 consecutive weeks of drought, rather than the previous 8 consecutive weeks Emergency Assistance  Provides emergency assistance for cattle with specific payment rates and eligibility criteria.  Death Tax  The bill increases the Death Tax exemption to $15 million per individual or $30 million per couple, adjusted annually for inflation. This means if the value of your farm or ranch plus equipment, cattle, and other assets are less than $15 million individually or $30 million as a couple Foreign Animal Disease Prevention  Specifies funding allocations for foreign animal disease prevention programs.  REFERENCES:  https://www.nationalbeefwire.com/usca-comments-on-legislative-passage-of-the-one-big-beautiful-bill https://www.nationalbeefwire.com/national-cattlemen-s-beef-association-comments-on-the-one-big-beautiful-bill https://www.nationalbeefwire.com/congress-passes-megabill-with-significant-farm-program-funding U.S Beef & Pork Exports To China Drop Sharply As Tariffs Climb Skyrocketing Tariffs Crush U.S. Meat Trade with China U.S. beef and pork exports to China plunged in late April and early May, driven by steep tariffs reaching 147% on beef and 172% on pork, according to the USDA Economic Research Service. A temporary 90-day tariff cut — down to 32% for beef and 57% for pork — failed to revive U.S. meat shipments to levels seen in May 2024. Trade Challenges Mount Ahead of August Deadline Compounding the issue, China declined to renew registrations for multiple U.S. beef plants and cold storage facilities in February, further restricting exports, says the U.S. Meat Export Federation (USMEF). “The need for progress in trade talks is urgent,” said USMEF President Dan Halstrom, warning that tariffs could spike again on August 12. Exporters are already reconsidering their plans for the Chinese market. “During COVID, we went from just in time to just in case. Unfortunately, now supply chains have to factor in risk mitigation. Finding alternative sources of supply might be a little more pricey, but it reduces the risk.” - Alan Arcand, Chief Economist at Canadian Manufacturers & Exporters Economic uncertainty and tariff volatility continue to shape procurement strategies and supply chain decisions across North America. As businesses grapple with unpredictable policy shifts, the need to interpret nuanced economic signals accurately has become critical to maintaining stable operations and safeguarding organizational profitability. To decode these trends and recommend timely strategies, Philip Ideson spoke with Alan Arcand, Chief Economist at Canadian Manufacturers and Exporters, at the Supply Chain Canada National Conference.  In this conversation, Alan highlights key factors procurement leaders should monitor, including the inflation implications of tariff decisions, investment behaviors influenced by economic uncertainty, and the profound impact all of this has on manufacturing sectors, particularly automotive. Alan also discusses: How to navigate conflicting economic indicators in the U.S. to improve procurement foresight Understanding tariff-driven supply chain disruptions in manufacturing sectors, particularly related to steel and aluminum Ways to adapt procurement strategies to shifting North American economic and political fluctuations Utilizing strategic diversification, including nearshoring and friendshoring, to mitigate risk Links: Alan Arcand on LinkedIn Subscribe to This Week in Procurement Subscribe to Art of Procurement on YouTube

“This is the first time in [the energy conflict] the U.S. has been a net exporter,” says Ali Meli, and explains why that keeps oil prices low even as Middle East tensions rise. However, the conflict will still affect the global oil markets, including potentially routing tankers away from the Strait of Hormuz. He says that if prices spiked up to over $100 as some fear, it would be extremely short-term and not an “equilibrium price.”======== Schwab Network ========Empowering every investor and trader, every market day. Our guest on this week's episode is Ian Williams, Technical Services Manager at Orkin. He helps us to understand a subject that few people want to talk about –  the pests that often overrun facilities. We are talking mice, rats, bugs, and other critters that get in and destroy products, contaminate areas, and just cause a general nuisance. Williams has some great ideas on how to keep them out of our buildings – and if they get in – to deal with them for good. Often it involves thinking like a mouse.Globally, nearly 60% of companies expect a negative impact from the Trump administration's “Liberation Day” tariff rollout, which happened back on April 2. That's according to a survey of 4,500 companies from around the world, including the United States, conducted in March and April by international credit insurer Allianz Trade. We got some clarity this week about one important aspect of logistics, which is forklifts. This ended a long debate about whether propane-fueled forklifts could operate in warehouses in the state of California, and it had been caught up in a lawsuit. To cut to the chase, propane forklifts will be allowed. We share the details of the new agreement and what it means for California's attempts to have zero-emission vehicles operating in many parts of our supply chains.Supply Chain Xchange  also offers a podcast series called Supply Chain in the Fast Lane.  It is co-produced with the Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals. In this inaugural episode of a special ASCDI and Technology Reseller News podcast series, Doug Green, Publisher of Technology Reseller News, interviews Noa Sussman of TecEx—a global IT compliance and logistics specialist and ASCDI member—on a deceptively complex topic: cross-border IT shipments. Shipping tech equipment globally isn't as simple as handing it over to FedEx or DHL. As Sussman explains, once equipment crosses a border, it enters a maze of tariffs, taxes, permits, and regulations—many of which can lead to multimillion-dollar fines or even trade bans if mishandled. “People think they can just stick something in a box and ship it overseas. But that's just the beginning of what needs to happen,” said Sussman. TecEx, a part of VAT IT Group, has become a trusted partner for global IT deployments by offering a critical service: acting as the Importer and Exporter of Record in over 200 jurisdictions. This enables clients—including hyperscalers, OEMs, and resellers—to enter new markets without establishing a legal entity in every country. Sussman shares harrowing stories of companies that ignored compliance—one fined $1 million and nearly shut out of China; another whose shipments to Mexico were destroyed outright. These cautionary tales highlight why logistics is no longer just an administrative issue, but a boardroom-level concern tied directly to go-to-market success. “When you're trying to break into a new region—especially in fast-moving sectors like AI—you can't afford delays at the border,” Sussman said. “The right logistics partner isn't just about shipping—it's about growth, speed, and risk mitigation.” This episode kicks off a fortnightly series exploring how to “drain the complexity” from global shipping. Upcoming episodes will delve into selecting the right logistics partner, managing shifting tariffs, and understanding evolving international trade rules.
