In this final installment of the Liberia Story, Vision Team members Pastor Tim Ozment and Dan Philips return to the heart of their fact-finding trip to West Africa to tell the stories behind the story of their visit. From learning if an American can ride a Liberian motorbike, to the heart-warming experience that culminated from a trip to a city that none of them wanted to visit. If you ever wondered if giving resources to missions has any impact, these are stories you must hear.
Economic and community development is a team sport, and the team can make or break an organization. How do you get everyone on the same page? The team retreat. In this episode, Jason continues in this series with a focus on sharing the vision. During the team retreat, there needs to be a goal for the day. This is the opportunity to acutely share that goal and that vision. Why do we do what we do? How should we evolve? What is the true difference we make in the community. Appropriately sharing the vision ensures everyone on the team 'gets it'. Making sure everyone understands the vision helps with goal setting and strategy discussion later in the day.

Get to Know Chris Rhodes Most of us know Chris Rhodes as a gifted speaker, serious bible scholar and friend. It's not easy to get him to talk about himself: he'd rather share about the people he serves as the Executive Director of Reno's Good Shepherd's Clothes Closet. But he has actually lived quite a fascinating life marked by travel, scholarship and service. Chris began his long association with Covenant 27 years ago when he and his family moved to Reno. In 2004 Fred and Lillian Howe, two of GSCC's original founders, tapped Chris to run the growing ministry full-time. As Executive Director, he oversees the full operation at the ministry which is located at the Community Assistance Center on Record St. in downtown Reno. He also networks with many community businesses and churches for fundraising and education purposes. Recently, he has led efforts to organize community outreach ventures to serve low-income families, Reno's homeless and the growing immigrant population in our county. Today, the ties between this local, unabashedly evangelical outreach ministry and Covenant remain strong: along with Chris, four of the eight currently serving board members attend our church and many others have donated countless volunteer hours over the years. Chris has served as a deacon and is currently our Elder on the Christian Education Ministry Team. If his front-row seat is ever empty on a Sunday morning, he is likely representing GSCC at another local church or filling a pulpit. He also ministers to the residents and staff at Stone Valley Alzheimer's Special Care Center on Sunday afternoons. We are thankful Chris also serves on the Mission Ministry Team and our Vision Team. He has a passion to see Covenant's members embrace the Great Commission (Matt 28:18-20) and become more purposefully outward-looking in support of the mission work of our church both locally and around the world. Good Shepherd's Clothes Closet Good Shepherd's Clothes Closet has grown steadily since its founding in 1996 when a group of church members perceived a need in our expanding community and got busy filling that need. From providing a permanent source for quality clothing that served about a dozen people each day, GSCC has grown into a multi-service, evangelical ministry that typically helps 100+ people each day. In addition to its store-like location on Record Street in downtown Reno, Executive Director Chris Rhodes, one paid staff member and volunteers often visit elementary schools and other convenient locations to help more families, senior citizens on low fixed incomes, the working and job-seeking poor, veterans, and immigrants in our area.

We conclude our series "Finding the Way Forward" by looking at one final guiding principle. In discerning these principles, our Vision Team believes we are called to continue to grow even more intentional in our pursuit of “Diversity” in our body. We want our family to look like the gathering that will one day happen in the presence of God, “…every nation and tribe and people and language…”

We’ve been talking about guiding principles the Vision Team is discerning for Valley in "Finding the Way Forward". A characteristic many celebrate about Valley is "Authenticity". In this week's sermon we’ll talk about what that means and why it's important for Valley in the days ahead.
As we continue in the series Finding the Way Forward, "Spiritual Transformation" looks at the most significant of the guiding principles our Vision Team is discerning for Valley. We’ll look at Romans 12:1-2 and 2 Corinthians 5:14-21 and discuss our commitment to "Spiritual Transformation".
In this episode, you'll get to hear from our entire team as each of us reflect on our earliest memories related to Strengths. One of the questions we ask clients is, "what was happening in your life between the ages of 7 to 11 years old?" Those ages represent an arc of cognitive development called the concrete operational period. This time is characterized by the development of organized and rational thinking and marks the beginning of logical or operational thought. It's also the time if your life when Strengths are beginning to form. When you recall what you were doing in life during those ages, it may shed light on how your Strengths have developed today. About The Leadership Vision Podcast The Leadership Vision Podcast is a weekly show sharing our expertise in the discovery, practice, and implementation of StrengthsFinder. Leadership Vision uses StrengthsFinder to work with People, Teams, and Culture. We believe that knowing your Top 5 Strengths is only the beginning. Steve Swartz / Facilities Team, "Facilities Vision Team Report" (Special Events and Seminars).
Today was a very unique and beautiful time of worship at Olive Springs. As we continue to do God's Dream at Olive Springs we must first approach God, through prayer, with a clean heart - a heart full of confession and repentance. Join Dr. Randy and the congregation in this special time of worship. We begin with a duet from Rev. Doug Hines, our Minister of Music, and our Pianist, Ms. Gayle Thompson, as they sing, "In This Very Room." The church continues that mood as we spend the time in a prayer of confession and repentance. During the prayer many of our folks brought their written confessions down to the front of the church. They placed them in a waste basket. We closed the service standing out on our front steps as the chairman of our Vision Team, Mr. Jimmy Brown, set fire to those confessions reminding us that God separates our sin "as far as the East is from the West!" It was such a beautiful time together as the church family! If you missed this one, you missed such a blessing! Thank you for listening and thank you for joining us in prayer as we continue to seek the Dream - the VISION of God as we press forward at Olive Springs.
In this Mother's Day message, Pastor Frankie looks at the original Christian "vision team." Of all his thousands of followers, Jesus chose to concentrate on the 12 who would become the disciples.
Over several months of prayer and study, God revealed to Joe a new vision for our church. It has been confirmed by our elders, and we are very excited about where God is leading us. Just as God gave Abram, Jacob, Saul and others a new name to mark their new calling, so God has given us a new name...we are to become Restoration Church Mukilteo. While the details of this transformation are being carefully and prayerfully laid out by Pastor Joe and the Elders and Vision Team, the framework is in place and you do not want to miss out on hearing what God is calling us to!
