In this episode, Emmy-nominated and Telly Award-winning Whitney Reynolds talks about helping listeners “fall into hope,” which is her trademark that changed the dialogue for talk TV. She shares from experience, after transforming her challenging childhood. Host John Cerasani says the sincerity and wholeheartedness of Whitney's candor “bleeds honesty.” He also commends her for unbiased, positive messaging that differentiates her from many others. Topics covered in this interview: Whitney's “dynamic, inspirational connection with her audience,” which she attributes to knowing her gift at a young age. The challenges and successes of owning The Whitney Reynolds Show, and being independent from the networks. Her rise from being on TV at age 23, later growing her own show into 6 markets, and becoming nationally syndicated in 2021. The “God wink” of hosting the public media awards on PBS, and bringing her “mission-based” show there, based on creating “a safe space.” The differences of being on multiple platforms, from her show to other arenas like iHeartRadio. Her commitment to being on TV for the long-term, and her spiritual practice to nurture her soul as she juggles many family and work obligations. The significance of calling herself “Chief Inspirational Officer” at work and at home. About Whitney Reynolds: Whitney believes in more seats at the table, inspiration in the hard moments, and hope for all. This mindset for unique programming originally bucked the trend when The Whitney Reynolds Show launched in 2012 on PBS. The show's inspirational mission developed from Whitney's firsthand experience with a challenging childhood. She had the gift to gab and combined that to create a program that flips the script–one that invites viewers to switch seats and feel seen for exactly where they are. She is the Executive Producer, Host and the "Chief Inspo Officer" of the Telly Award-winning and Emmy-nominated Whitney Reynolds Show. Prior to launching her nationally syndicated program, she worked in news for NBC and went on to launch her first talk show on that network. During college at Baylor University she interned for Good Morning America and fell in love with the national stage and its potential reach. When Whitney was just 25 years old she stepped into owning her own show and created Whitney Reynolds Media. Not being owned by the network truly jump started her entrepreneurial journey. Whitney's business mentor is Melissa Bernstein of Melissa & Doug who, like Whitney, also started her business in an extra space in her home, however it has since grown to a $500M company. Whitney's “safe space” mission however, doesn't stop with her TV program. Since 2013 she has hosted a motivational “give back” segment on iHeartRadio and in 2021 launched a national iHeart Podcast, Pop and Positivity. She also authored Beyond The Interview and has a column in Cancer Wellness Magazine. Over the years Whitney has helped bring in more than $2-million in fundraising for local and global charities through her media work. She currently sits on the Advisory Council for Dress For Success and is on the board for The Service Club of Chicago. Born and raised in Oklahoma, Whitney has learned how to combine southern charm with big city hustle. Her motto is: “If the door closes, find the darn window.” Whitney lives in Chicago, in the Roscoe Village neighborhood with her husband, Dave, and her twins, Marlowe and Acher, and their shih tzu, Sir Crouton. When she's not on camera, it's guaranteed you will still find her talking, she simply loves people and their stories. I made a vow to myself that I was going to be my best ‘Yes.” I believed in myself wholeheartedly. ~ Whitney Reynolds How many times have you heard the word “No?” When we're young, we hear ‘No” often from our caregivers as a way to keep us safe. But as we grow, we begin to hear “No” when we're being stopped for different reasons. A project we believe in, something we have our hearts set on to do or obtain, a promotion at a job, so many things can lead us to a ``No,” despite how much we work towards or desire a certain outcome. Whitney Reynolds has heard “No” a lot. But she realized that the only way to achieve her goals and dreams was to be her own best “Yes.” Whitney learned how to “connect the dots” in her life to determine her purpose and create true change in the world. As Whitney tells us, she still heard “No” more times than she could count, but by believing in herself and her mission, she found the energy and strength to keep moving and evolving, eventually creating The Whitney Reynolds Show to inspire others to overcome challenges. “No” doesn't have to be the end of the road for a dream or goal. Here at Brilliantly Resilient, the pandemic served up more “No's” than we could count. Yet, the path to achievement and success is rarely a straight line. When we're willing to change course and connect the dots, as Whitney says, we can move forward and find our own mission, Brilliance, and Resilience. Tune in to hear more of Whitney's wisdom on this episode of the Brilliantly Resilient podcast. Let's be Brilliantly Resilient together! XO, KS & MFB

Episode 112. Growing up in Oklahoma, my next guest Whitney Reynolds always knew that she wanted to have her own television show. As a child, she started interviewing her friends with a makeshift microphone in her living room. During her adolescence, her family's difficult personal journey gave her the desire to share delicate stories that must be told. At the age of 23, her childhood dream became her adult mission and her talk show was born. Since then, her show has grown and expanded through hard work and a very caring nature that helps her connect with her guests and audience. She is a television talk show host, media personality, podcast host, author, producer, philanthropist, Emmy nominated and a Telly Award winner. Whitney is widely known for her talk show The Whitney Reynolds Show, a nationally syndicated talk show that airs on PBS stations all across the United States. Episode 129 – Stephanie welcomes Chicago-based friend and TV show host Whitney Reynolds for a fun, deep, and whimsical conversation to enter 2022. She tells us about her relationship with God, personally and at work, in her family, marriage and kids and through her friends. Her enthusiasm to encourage is deeply inspiring and endearing… and she is such fun to be with! Whitney says she used to be a “stale Christian” in the church—and she didn't even know it. Because she is so cheerful and encouraging, she cruised through life until God called her to a deeper awareness of His presence, and she is enjoying it now, even beckoning us deep within alongside her! She shares about life with 6-year-old twins amidst a whirlwind of life and activity, keeping her eyes on her Lord. We talk about her very personal prayers for her little ones. We talk about the impact of her show all around the world, and in her own heart. God is using her very own show to teach her to embrace Him at a deeper level! Whitney and Stephanie move the conversation to our dreams for 2022. What are our dreams? How do we know they are from God? How do we show up for them? How do we let Him take centerstage? We invite you to join in this conversation of things deep and light too, and to rejoice for what God is in the making of doing in and through you in 2022! Emmy nominated & Telly Award winning Whitney Reynolds' national news background and love for people have been combined to create a show that is changing the dialogue for talk TV. She produces a program that is dedicated to being a safe space for delicate life stories. She discovered this mission first hand through her own difficult childhood. The Whitney Reynolds Show educates, inspires and makes a difference, one topic at a time. What started as an online talk show moved to NBC within its first year. In 2012 the show made strategic changes, which included a shift in focus and move to PBS & eventually streaming on TUBI TV. In 2020 the show was picked up for national distribution by NETA and starting premiering across the country January 6th of 2021. The mission however, doesn't stop with her TV program. Since 2013 Whitney has hosted a motivational “give back” segment on iHeart Radio. She also authored Beyond The Interview and has a column in Cancer Wellness Magazine. Over the years Whitney has help fundraising over 2 million of dollars for local and global charities through her media work. Originally from Oklahoma, she's learned how to combine southern charm with big city hustle. Her motto is: If the door closes, find the darn window. Whitney graduated from Baylor University in three years and moved to New York to intern for Good Morning America. Post GMA, she was a morning anchor in both Oklahoma and Texas. She has since planted her roots in Chicago and lives in the Roscoe Village neighborhood with her husband David and 5 year old twins. Whitney Reynolds is dedicated to provoking positive change through tough topics. She produces a program that is dedicated to being a safe space for delicate life stories. She found her mission first hand through her own difficult childhood. The Whitney Reynolds Show educates, motivates, and makes a difference, one topic at a time. What started as an online talk show, the program gained momentum quickly and moved to NBC within its first year. In 2012 the show made strategic changes, which included a move to PBS Stations in Chicagoland, The Quad Cities, Peoria, Champaign-Urbana, and Jacksonville, FL. You can also nationally stream the show via PBS Video App and Amazon Prime. I was fortunate to be a guest on her show and found her to be down to earth genuine with a lot to say. Podcaster and noodle purist Whitney Reynolds joins merritt to talk Highlander, boxed wine, and playing with fire.
Whitney Reynolds is a writer, podcaster (“I Haven’t Seen That” with Mark Popham) and, most important, in terms of this episode, inveterate tweeter. A recent tweet of hers, which was a response to not only a previous tweet, but a response to a response to said tweet, Whitney's "new twitter challenge" to "describe yourself like a male author would" led to thousands of responses and retweets, which led to press coverage ranging from a Huffpo article to a New Yorker piece and a BBC radio interview. She was also asked to do a TV interview for BBC, which she declined, and, in fact, decided to move on from this kind of attention. I was honored to be the last person she agreed to talk to about this. On top of learning about the splendors and terrors of Twitter virality, Whitney tells us about Twitter as a place not just to look for audience, but also, (as many of us have treated Facebook for years, and now treat Instagram, but are ignorant of re twitter) for community. I haven't used twitter in that fashion, and I look forward to giving it a go. We spoke on the phone on Saturday, 4/7/18, about a week after the big tweet.Find her @whitneyarner, or don't, she's really not that concerned about it. Sounds like a healthy way to go. Find us at http://15minutesjamieberger.com or @15minsjamieb (twitter/insta)and on Facebook, Patreon, iTunes, Spotify, oh gosh, the list really does go on. This week’s guest is PBS talk show host Whitney Reynolds. Whitney is by-far one of the most confident and tenacious guests I have had the privilege of speaking to on this podcast thus far, especially since she has know that her life’s path was in having her own television show since she was five years old! Whitney’s story is a prime example of why staying true to your vision is the best path toward success and fulfillment. Some highlights of our conversation: - How she started interviewing her friends at age 5 with a makeshift microphone- How she was able to start her own TV show at just 23 years old- How her hosting has changed over time from the start of her career to the platform she has now- How becoming a mom two years ago has changed her life

This week, friend of the internet and co-host of I Haven't Seen That, Whitney Reynolds (@whitneyarner) joins us to discuss the sweet, sweet boys of One Direction. Turns out neither Brandon nor Beth know a single fucking thing about One Direction, and all of the things they THINK they know turn out to be wildly inaccurate. For example: Joe Walsh and Glenn Frey are NOT members of 1D. Who knew, right? Well, Whitney knew, but other than HER, who knew, right?
Mouse chats with writer and podcaster Whitney Reynolds, who is also a roleplaying buddy in the Strange Trails campaign! They talk about finding moments for characters to bond, faking it until making it, and fudging details of the people in a character's backstory in the best way, i.e. Maris-ing.

Whitney Reynolds (@whitneryarner) morphs Kitty and Kevin into the ultimate animal, with four paws, three horns and wings on a bee’s torso; then, the three evolve their views on how a fish can become a dragon with their playthrough of E.V.O.
Whitney Reynolds (@whitneyarner) joins Kitty and Kevin to discuss horror, Halloween, Thanksgiving songs, and the glory of 80s movies that was the Goonies; then the trio rescue a mermaid in the video game-only sequel.
This week Whitney returns with her venerable old son, Vampire Hunter D. Cathy picks her son from the same year, 1985, the Terry Gilliam film Brazil. Along the way, they discuss the emotional power of your gateway anime, cool teen goth phases, bad dubs, how to inspire people to ganbatte in a post-nuclear mutant-ridden hellpocalypse, snake lady tiddies, cookie-covered Bob Hoskins, and interrogating male privilege.
As a young girl growing up in a small town in Oklahoma, Whitney Reynolds envisioned making a difference through her voice. Her journey to become a talk show host picked up in NY with a homemade talk show sign and an elevator rendezvous with a Good Morning America cameraman. She interned for Good Morning America after graduating from Baylor University and moved to Texas to work as a morning anchor for a local news station. On weekends she hosted her own online “Weekends With Whitney” talk show to stay relevant, and decided to skip the corporate news route and go her own way. Now, Whitney is the host of The Whitney Reynolds Show on PBS, as well as owns her own jewelry line called Accessory Mercado. Topics To Talk About -Why she decided to not go the corporate TV route -How the name of the show was picked -The most challenging part of her journey -How she keeps clarity -The story behind the affordable jewelry business she owns -Who helps her say “yes” and “no” -Who she watches for news and why Impactful Quotes “Sometimes when we hear inspiration we go right to thinking ‘oh religious’ or something like that. It really is tough topics that all of us face every day, or sometime around the year we will face some of these topics, but we always, even though we are doing tough interviews, and sometimes it’s really messy interviews we always deliver the light at the end of the tunnel, at the end of the show.” “In the process we always have to adapt our plans..you have to always keep your eye on the prize and know where you are going towards.” “It was always about just getting to the next spot, but being happy and that’s one thing that I really preach, because there are a lot of times in my life I wish I could go back to those moments.” “I wish I could go back and tell young Whitney ‘settle down, it’s all going to work out’ You have this fire in you and you got to trust that fire will take you to where you are young and enjoy the ride along the way.” “I got to a point, I don’t know when this happened and it could just be called growing up, where for a long time I felt like I had to be known, and I had to be out, and I had to be going, going, going, and now I am really at peace and comfortable with where I am at.” “I am in a really happy spot in life, where I can walk into a room a not demand attention because I am comfortable with who I am as a person and a host. I feel like that could just be the recipe of getting older, or getting to a place where your career takes off and there is no need to announce where you are, because you know where you are at personally” “I am my own worst enemy, because there is a constant want to be more and bigger. I think half of that is level setting of where you have been and where you are going, and understanding the stops along the way.” “People that you align with, be very careful. It’s part of your brand and you have to trust that gut instinct.” “What I would really encourage people to do, is to find what makes their soul sing...Level set what makes you happy. Sometimes we see what’s on social media or what’s in the news as what the world said is a ‘beautiful life’ I would challenge that.” [Connect with Whitney: Twitter (@whitneyreynolds), Instagram (@whitney_reynolds), Website:whitneyreynolds] RESOURCES: Instagram Quotes Nightly News-Lester Holt
