On 'Uninvited', we bring our own seat to the table and we explore what is going on today in politics, sports, entertainment, arts, food and culture thru an equitable, melodramatic and hyperbolic lens. In short: this show will be your favorite train wreck.
Good friends and amazing representatives of the wing NBA fandom that have busy lives but know just enough to be dangerous (and as you'll hear in this episode -- sometimes dead wrong (just wait for Jerry's analysis of Nuggets series...and Jimmy Butler.), Atiqa Mohammad and Jerry Jones are breaking down the first week of the NBA playoffs. We are having a good time talking about our favorite sport during the most exciting time on the calendar: the NBA playoffs. Listen in as Atiqa makes more insightful takes and Jerry talks nonsense, experiences a technical difficulty and outright forgets Jalen Brunson's name). We're having a darn good time on this one. Kick it with us and enjoy! - The Play-In Podcast Crew --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/jerry-jones5/message
It's April so you know what that means - it's the NBA Playoffs!!! Well, it's actually the NBA Play-In but hey, we are close enough to the time when the best of the best in the greatest game on Earth compete for the Larry O'Brien trophy. Atiqa Mohammad and Jerry Jones are diving into the wild week that was the NBA and forecast what we think could happen in the NBA Playoffs. In this episode we are talking about the demise of the Dallas Mavericks, Atiqa's penchant for Fantasy Basketball and what needs to be done about tanking. We also play the game of "Who Did Vince Carter Play For?" and we explore who might be the Gen Z GOATS. We are having a great time talking basketball. So if you have a chore (or leg day) you've been avoiding, this episode will get you through it. Let's do this! - Atiqa and Jerry --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/jerry-jones5/message
Hey Party Crashers, Level Setters and Trailblazers - In this episode of TrailBlasian, Deth and Jerry are moved by the shootings in Colorado Springs and Charlottesville to get real and vulnerable about how we show up in the world and what the opportunity is for the collective 'we' to foster more empathy and to create a brave space for communal healing. Our hope is that you will take this journey with us in this one-hour plus conversation. Thank you for choosing to listen and we hope you'll come back. Do Good and Be Well. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/jerry-jones5/message
Yep. We are just a few days before the midterm elections so we are talking about key races in Georgia and Pennsylvania...but we can't not be on her and not talk about this wave of anti-semitism coming from two of the biggest names in sports and culture - Kyrie and Kanye. We aren't holding back. This is classic Deth and Jerry airing grievances in the middle of a crowded bar...except we are just sitting at Deth's dining room table. If you need a fix of an Asian man and a Black man over 50 howling at the moon over things that matter WE GOT YOU! Thanks for signing up for our nonsense. We Love All Five of You. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/jerry-jones5/message
Sup Level Setters - In this conversation with social media trend spotter (and my favorite cousin), Emily Brake, we are getting to a ride range of topics including changes in the fashion industry and the role of Tik Tok in ushering in a new era of information gathering (and cooking techniques that seemingly cannot be explained). We go back in time to explore the impact of The Chicks (formerly Dixie Chicks) and how they not only impacted country music but also served as the first example of what we've come to know as Cancel Culture. Of course, I couldn't let this conversation end without talking Texas politics and tacos. Trust me, you want to hear this episode. It's super informative. Thank you for your support. We appreciate ya! Jerry --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/jerry-jones5/message
What is up Party Crashers, Level Setters and TrailBlazers!!! In this episode, which could have been called Grumpy Old BIPOC men, Deth and Jerry have a whole bunch to say about some of the things dominating the news cycle over the past week: the reaction to the passing of Queen Elizabeth the II (and we have somethings to say about a certain billionaire); the ridiculousness of what Gov. Ron DeSantis and the very serious nature of his potentially illegal actions; and then we get even more heated about the Racialization of Fantasy. We doin' the damn thing. This is one you will absolutely want to listen to. Thank you all for joining this crazy ride with us and look for a new episode of Level Set later this week as I talk to my favorite cousin (sorry Shawn) and social media trend spotter Emily Brake. We are talking trends in fashion and information gathering, as well as the legacy of the Chicks (formerly the Dixie Chicks) as the first modern example of Cancel Culture. Uninvited Media is committed to giving the people what they want. Thanks for hanging with us! Love y'all! Jerry --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/jerry-jones5/message
In this conversation with Austin-based competitive tennis player (and friend of the show...and cousin) Shawn Bolton, we cover so much ground and you are in for a treat. As it is the end of August, early September we must discuss the US Open and the end of the brilliant career of Serena Williams as well as the Big Three of the men's game. However it wouldn't be a Level Set conversation if we didn't also explore the inner workings of the minds of our guests. Shawn discusses his competitive fire, as well as his obsession with different flavors of pickles. We delve into the 8th Wonder of the World -- Buc-ee's -- and what makes for a great breakfast taco but it wouldn't be a Jerry and Shawn conversation if we didn't talk Game of Thrones. This is a fun one. Please rate, review, subscribe and share this episode. I appreciate ya! Jerry --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/jerry-jones5/message
Yo what is up Party Crashers, Trailblazers and Level Setters - In this episode of Level Set, my friend and co-host of her own podcast 'The Bo Knows Podcast' Ellen Wingenter explore several random conversations, mostly all of them centering around the great state of Colorado. We are talking pickle ball, politics, sports, Colorado geography, hobby farming...hell, we even talk about the correlation between the largest fire in Colorado history, a cult and an iconic sandwich shop in Lawrence, KS. Ellen knows a lot about alot and she was gracious enough to dive into these rabbit holes with me. This conversation is all over the place but i promise you will come away entertained and maybe even more informed about Colorado. This is a fun one for sure! Thanks so much for listening. Please rate, review, subscribe and share with your friends. Jerry --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/jerry-jones5/message
What is up Party Crashers, Level Setters and TrailBlazers - In this episode of TrailBlasian, Deth and I are exploring the political dumpster fire that is the Trump fiasco at Mar-a-Lago, Jerry's newfound love for Liz Cheney (yes, i know) and also digging into the firestorm surrounding the Finnish Prime Minister Sanna Marin. Sandwiched in-between is a spirited conversation about the NFL ruling to suspend alleged predator DeShaun Watson for 11 games. It gets heated in this episode but we still find a way to laugh, usually at Jerry's expense. It's a good one. Enjoy it. Also, new Level Set episodes is coming soon. Apparently talking with people who know things takes some time because they are in such demand but i promise you they are worth the wait. Until then, i highly recommend checking out the first three conversations so you can be ready for the newest episodes. Do Good, Be Well. Sup Party Crashers, Level Setters and Trailblazers - In this episode, Deth and Jerry are covering multiple angles of Trump's string of really bad luck connected to the seizing of classified information from his 'beautiful' home at Mar-a-Lago. Jerry does something he hasn't done in a really long time, which is give President Biden some love and Deth makes a recommendation for the GOP on how to popularize their campaign of denial on Trump's actions. We are having fun while spitting fire the way two armchair gangsters are prone to do. Enjoy it. Like, subscribe and comment...we love talking sh*t with y'all! P.S. A new episode of Level Set is coming next week! Jerry --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/jerry-jones5/message
In this brief interaction with Tanya Spacek, we begin to explore how Western Kansas is under-resourced and neglected by most everyone in the more populated Northeastern part of the state. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/jerry-jones5/message
Hey Party Crashers, Levelers and Trailblazers i think you're gonna enjoy this episode, especially if you were glued to your televisions, phones and computers awaiting the returns of the August 2nd vote on the amendment which would have essentially ended constitutional protections for women and girls seeking an abortion. Much has been discussed nationally about Kansas and what this means for our socio-political climate moving forward but very few has been done from the perspective of actual Kansans. In this episode of Level Set, I am talking with Tanya Spacek who served as a poll worker in Kansas the day of the election. She takes us into what it was like that day and then we go so much deeper into conversations about the power of collective action, civic engagement and the impact of climate change on communities in Western Kansans. You'll dig this one. Thank you for being on the level with us. Jerry --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/jerry-jones5/message
Sup Party Crashers, Levelers and Trailblazers! We've got your breakdown of last week's big stories (including a Shout Out to the Free State at the end...don't think we didn't notice how y'all put your Kansas-sized foot up their you-know-what) in the way that Asian and Black dudes from middle America can. This episode is long but moves fast as we get into Alex Jones (was that a hot mess of a trial or what???), NFL quarterback DeShaun Watson and his suspension, WNBA Superstar Britney Griner and her imprisonment in a Russian prison camp and of course, we finally get to say her name in the same sentence as 'justice' -- Breonna Taylor. We are having fun but we mean business if that makes sense. You'll enjoy this episode and if you could, please remember to rate, review and subscribe so you don't miss any episodes of TrailBlasian, Level Set and Uninvited. Thank you for listening and sharing. We appreciate ya! Jerry and Deth --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/jerry-jones5/message
Sup Party Crashers and Level Setters - So, by now you've gathered that I am a conversation junkie and have a compulsion to record these rabbit hole talks with friends. One of my favorite people is my brother from another mother, Deth Im and we talk alot of trash...like alot, alot! We talk politics, sports, religion and a whole host of things - usually in public and often to the chagrin of the mostly white, conservative crowds we find ourselves in here in Kansas City. Instead of ruining everyone else's sports watching experience, we decided to launch a podcast instead. We call this show 'TrailBlasian' and this will be a weekly show (consider this show as Level Set's Ride or Die cousin...we all have one and if you don't, you are probably that cousin) and as best as we can weigh in on what is happening in the news. Of course, we managed to record prior to the huge Aug. 2nd vote -- shout out to Kansas which is still the Free 'Muthaf***in' State -- however know in this next episode we will be giving our local flavor on this incredible accomplishment by the electorate. In this episode we are talking SCOTUS, the changing of the guard in Democratic party leadership, the marvel of a show that is Ms. Marvel and this frightening trend in elected officials calling for Christian Nationalism. Trust me, this part of conversation is so worth the listen. We are getting real in here. Thank you for being here! Jerry --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/jerry-jones5/message
Okay so, this is a long-play episode with my friend and colleague, Whitney Buchmann (Founder and Chief Strategist of Illustra Impact). We cover a lot of ground in this conversation. We are gonna learn alot about what coffee growers deal with in Colombia, including from a financial, technological and sustainable standpoint. However, we get into the concept of leading thru vulnerability and we explore the concept of expansive love. Also, there is talk about Runza and food avoidance. It's a good time and a long time. The episode is broken up into two parts with a couple of really wonky interludes when my internet gave out. However, i believe these minor imperfections won't deter you from this fascinating conversation (hopefully). Thank you for joining me on this journey of talking to people who know things. Let's get smarter together. Jerry --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/jerry-jones5/message
Hey Party Crashers - So, I was so excited to talk to Joe about cycling that i neglected to ask him the question that inspired this conversation in the first place: what is the deal with all the different colors of jerseys in the Tour De France??? If you've ever wondered why there are green jerseys, pink and polkadot jerseys, our resident cycling super fan Joe has you covered. This is a fun one. Hope you enjoy this as much as you enjoyed the full-length conversation from earlier this week and I hope you'll come back next week when I talk to my next guest about coffee thru the lens of equity and sustainability. (Oh, I will get the logo art cleaned up...a graphic designer i am not). Do Good and Be Well. Jerry --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/jerry-jones5/message
In this conversation with people who know things, Level Set talks with cycling enthusiast Joe Thompson about a wide range of topics related to the sport, including the Tour de France, the best and worst cycling movies of all-time, how speed skating and 7-11 (yes, the convenience store chain) changed the trajectory of the sport in the United States forever. We take a brief journey back in time for a brief history of doping in cycling and we wind up - naturally - discussing the relatively unknown side of biggest name in the history of the sport: Lance Armstrong. So yeah, we are geeking out over a topic that is rarely discussed and i think you' re gonna enjoy it. This is a long-play, deep-dive conversation, which is something i think we could use more of these days. You'll take a break from this one, maybe even a couple but it is worth completing. Thank you for taking the journey with me. Appreciate ya! Jerry --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/jerry-jones5/message

Hey Party Crashers - I am super excited for Uninvited Media's first non-Uninvited podcast (just play along with me on the whole Uninvited Media thing, okay!). This show is gonna bring a similar level of awesome that 'Uninvited' did except most episodes will include interesting conversationalists and actual awesomeness. So yeah, mostly everything the flagship show was and was not at the same time. New episodes every Monday and Wednesday to start with expansion to Fridays once i books more guests. This i can promise: you won't hate it and you might actually wind up loving it. Cheers to you. I've missed you and super glad to be back. See ya on July 25th! Sup Party Crashers - Can you believe it has been an entire year and not one of you have had the sit down with with us to tell us to just 'stop it!'? Yeah, we can't believe that either. Must mean you are as conflict avoidant as we are around here. :) With one year down, we thought it would be a great idea to bring us together to discuss light topics such as how the criminal justice system can fail and succeed in the same case (Bill Cosby) for precisely the same reasons, as well as what George W. Bush has in common with failed drug tests for Olympic sprinters. I mean...what possibly could go wrong with this conversation??? In any case, we are glad you're all still here and we are hoping that you have a safe and fun 4th of July. Keep being good to yourselves and each other while we all keep doing the best we can with what we've got. Sup Party Crashers! Happy Juneteenth, y'all! Here's hoping that you all enjoyed that hastily introduced national day off (yep...though it's been a while but we are absolutely rocking with the snark!) and that you're safe and well. We've missed your smiling faces and are happy to be all up in your earhole. In this episode we are celebrating the freeing of the last enslaved Africans while at the same time taking some jabs at politicians in Washington, DC for doing politician-type things. We also discuss why air travel and dining would be so much better if Virgos were simply put in charge because...facts. So if you're looking for a place to discuss Juneteenth while also observing the hot mess that has become the 'Uninvited', then this episode is definitely for you. On the real, we want to convey our gratitude to all of you and we do hope that as we each commemorate Juneteenth that we celebrate together and tomorrow we get back to work...also together. Keep being good to yourselves and each other. Peace, Jerry --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/jerry-jones5/message
Hey...Sup Party Crashers! Welcome to Big Courage Season. It's the time of year where the podcast will take on the important topics and say the things that need to be said. So glad you've stuck around while we've been going thru our self-imposed detox of hot takes and angry rants. You've been on our minds the entire time and while it felt like we were ghosting you (and we kinda did) it was to get healthy and hopefully a little more wise as well. In any case, it feels good to be back and in this first episode of Big Courage season we are talking about the Tulsa Massacre and why Memorial Day just isn't the same for people of color (which, can we talk about how referring to people as 'colored' in 2021 probably needs to be examined???). Hope you enjoy this one and we look forward to coming to you with fresh perspectives that aren't centered in venom and snark...though there will be snark because who are we kidding here? Be good to yourselves and each other. Peace, Jerry --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/jerry-jones5/message
Guilty, Guilty, Guilty!!! Sup Party Crashers! Welp, we finally got justice for George Floyd and in this episode I am discussing what it all means for community and police departments across the country. Let's get into it, y'all! Let's Go! - Jerry --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/jerry-jones5/message
Sup Party Crashers - Let's face it: what happened in Georgia this week represents a defining moment in our nation's history. Gov. Brian Kemp signed SB 202 -- a 900 pages omnibus voter suppression bill -- and the dominos will begin to fall in at least 43 other states looking to pass similar bills that will turn the clock back on democracy and racial justice for people of color and people of conscience. So, we're gonna dig into what it all means in this episode while also waxing poetic on: not-so-great political slogans, Jerry being on the audiobook struggle bus, Queen Stacey Abrams doing her thing in 2022, Beto People and possibly misquoting Danny Ocean. Most importantly, we are paying homage to KC social justice hero, icon and co-founder of Operation Breakthrough Sr. Corita Bussanmas. May she Rest in Power after fighting the good fight for children and families in Kansas City for over six decades. Sr. Corita is survived by her partner in good trouble - Sr. Berta Sailor and their four adopted children. Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers. Promo for the 'Put The Gun Down' episode --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/jerry-jones5/message
Hey Party Crashers - In this episode of the 'Uninvited' we are getting into the shooting in Boulder by talking about the 800 lb. elephant in the room in our uniquely American problem (nope...not Trump's over-inflated ego): Men + Inability to Resolve Conflict + Inability to Regulate Emotionally + Unfettered Access to Guns = Most All of the Mass Shootings. So, in the show we touch on the Senate Hearing today on gun violence, Australia's (or maybe it is New Zealand...somewhere from the land down under) school-based curriculum that aims to reduce violence and violence against women, Jerry's thin skin, targeted universalism, dr. john a. powell (he uses all lower case), Jerry's streaming service subscription addiction, a shout out to Moms Demand Action, the need for common sense gun laws and the difference between thoughts and prayers. In the second-half of the show, Jerry celebrates ObamaCare's 11th birthday while taking a detour to discuss Sir Paul McCartney, why FLOTUS Obama is a better audiobook narrator than her partner (who is also great), a brief tutorial on 'Organizer Speak" and why protecting voting rights is protecting the ACA. This is a good show. A little long-windy but worth it. Music used in the show (please, please buy music and support your local record shop when possible): Intro Music: "I'm Coming Around", written and performed by ThirdStory Interlude between Pt. 1 and Pt 2: "Birthday", performed by The Beatles Outro Music: "Put the Gun Down", written and performed by Jonatha Brooke Keep being good to yourselves and each other. Hey Party Crashers - In this episode of 'The Uninvited', we are picking up the conversation from the 'Stop Asian Hate' episode by digging into the roots of hate crimes against the AAPI community and talking about the 'P word': Policy and some key themes that have created the hostile environment we are living in today. This is not a fun conversation but an important one. Hope you'll join us for it. Do Good, Be Well. Party Crashers - By now, we've all seen the news and know about the Atlanta murders, as well as the increasing number of accounts of crimes being committed against people of Asian descent in cities across America. In this episode of the 'Uninvited', we are getting to the heart of the matter: white supremacy. Specifically we are talking about the mindset that enables young men like the accused mass murderer in Atlanta to acquire firearms, makes excuses for their obviously anti-Asian racist and murderous actions, takes them thru the drive-thru at Burger King after having gunned down a Black church bible study and told how much they are loved after having attempted a coup to overthrow the federal government (and killed a cop in the process). We also get to the need to pass the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) and why the changing of the filibuster rules will almost be necessary in order to get enough people in the United Senators who believe women should be protected from physical, sexual, emotional and psychological harm...as well as death by gunshot. We must stop Asian hate now. We must stop all the hate. Thank you for coming to our Ted Talk. In the meantime, be good to yourselves and each other. Also, let's stand together for we are all we have...and all we need. Love ya, Jerry of the Uninvited "Build It Up", written and performed by the great Ingrid Michaelson. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/jerry-jones5/message
Sup Party Crashers - It has been a year and still there has been no justice for Breonna Taylor. Aside from an early detour to discuss the Ides of March, college basketball, covid and re-ignited love for pie (Happy Pi(e) Day, by the way!) the conversation is mostly centered upon the exploration of how structural and systemic racism is having adversely negative effects on the American criminal justice system, particularly upon African-Americans. While we aren't having as much fun in this episode, we are touching on some important subject matter we can't shy away from. We thank you for being willing to stay on the journey with us and hope that as we fluctuate from serious to silly and back again that you're getting something positive from your listening experience. Continue to be good to yourselves and each other. Peace, Jerry, host of the Uninvited. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/jerry-jones5/message
Sup Party Crashers - So, we're hoping your week is -- at minimum -- not nearly as bad as Meghan and Harry's but what we really want is that you're having a President Biden "go-on-with-yo-bad-self" week where you all the things you've said you would do have actually happened. In this episode of the 'Uninvited', we are going into previously unchartered territory with Jerry questioning Meghan's motivation for the Oprah interview as well as Oprah's (and most of the American people's) response to the 'revelation' that the Royal Family is probably (by probably, we mean almost certainly) racist. In his ridiculousness, Jerry ventures off into how he is becoming a television snob because of his newfound addiction to British television shows as well as how an invading alien army might respond to his mythological racism polling of the Royal Family as well as wonders aloud why aliens don't prefer dolphins to humans, how the Queen outsmarted the devil in their soul swap deal and why the Crown will never resemble Zamunda with Prince Akeem on the throne. We're also talking Joe Biden having the Best Week Ever and how his leadership style is spurring a new era of collaboration, as evidenced by the Johnson & Johnson - Merck partnership to produce the vaccine. How might we, armed with better intentions than Big Pharma, come together in the same way these business giants have to end racism, sexism and homophobia? This is the challenge before us, Party Crashers. Let's do some good. - The Uninvited "Under the Bridge", written and performed by Red Hot Chili Peppers --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/jerry-jones5/message
Sup Party Crashers - In this episode of the 'Uninvited' we are reflecting on the events of March 7, 1965 -- the day that John Lewis and several hundred other leaders dared to march across the Edmund Pettus Bridge to get from Selma to Montgomery in the name of securing voting rights for Black people in the state of Alabama. Not only are we reflecting upon the past but taking inventory of where we are today and projecting onto the future what be at stake if we do not heed Lewis' call to get into "good trouble...necessary trouble." Also in the episode, Jerry breaks down the role of strategy and tactics have played in the civil rights movement as well as digs into the efforts in statehouses across the country to suppress the vote and undermine the basic tenets of democracy. While not nearly as snarky and lighthearted as he typically is, we think this episode may be one of the most important to listen to. We hope you'll take the ride with us. Keep being good to yourselves and each other. - The Uninvited --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/jerry-jones5/message
Sup Party Crashers - In this kind-of-an episode of 'Uninvited', Jerry really only gets to two things: 1) A trip down memory lane to the college years. It is kinda like the 'Previously On' episode of 'WandaVision' minus the deep philosophical conversation on the juxtaposition of love and grief (if you haven't seen Episode 8 of 'WandaVision' stop wasting time here and go watch it. ) and 2) The value and effectiveness of words in the context of a divided America and Europe. In the pod, Jerry begins to explore the words we are using and how we might begin to consider whether or not we are being strategic in how we communicate with one another. Yes, it sounds lame but we promise this one is important and will likely be pursued within a limited-run podcast focused specifically on words as currency. Do us a favor will you and text Jerry at 816.589.9960 (or email at jerryjonesjr@gmail.com) with specific words that you believe are building up or tearing apart our ability to work together with those we don't agree with. This conversation just might have legs so let's go with it. Keep being good to yourselves and each other. Jerry --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/jerry-jones5/message
Hey...sup Party Crashers! Hope all is well and that you're finally rested from watching the House deliberate well into Saturday morning over the $1.9T stimulus package. Ha...don't front, we know you didn't watch it because we didn't either but that isn't stopping us from talking about it (briefly) after we've had a chance to talk about the CPAC 2021 conference, the Fat Elvis version of a Donald Trump shrine, how Jerry has never seen Harry Potter, Billy Joel being underrated, bucket list musicians, why Jacksonville smells, Daryl Hall and the O'Jays, and the danger for Democrats in ending the Senate filibuster. So as you can appreciate there is a balanced plate of nonsense on this episode of the 'Uninvited'. Sit back and enjoy the show my friends. Until next time. Hey Party Crashers - In this episode of the 'Uninvited', we are talking:  Tucker Carlson, Q Anon, Carl Sagan, shopping bags, the environment's vendetta against Bed, Bath and Beyond, Jerry's unsolicited investment non-advice (Jerry is not a licensed investment professional so don't listen to him and make money like him), Tiger Woods (prayers up), Cicely Tyson, if anyone actually likes Glenn Beck and a little bit at the end about cool stuff in science. The show is all over the place in under 30 minutes but one thing we want to be sure you all consider is supporting the Midwest Music Foundation.  They are an amazing organization supporting local and regional musicians with financial support when they run into acute and emergent health care challenges.  They are doing amazing work.  Check them out at:  https://midwestmusicfoundation.org/ Until the next time, keep being good to yourselves, good to each other and by all means Dare Mighty Things. Sup Party Crashers - Yes, the headline is a downer but even still is somewhat of a halfway-brilliant play on words. Â However, you gotta listen to the end for it to make sense (unless you're an MCU geek...you got the reference right away) and please do because we desperately want your attention and we don't have an Instagram model bod...so listen, like us, subscribe and all that jazz! So, in this episode we are talking: how Domino's pizza gave its all to help a community on the brink, a shady Senator sneaking back into the country (with cornrows) while his state is in crisis, innovations in talk shows, the Big 3 of BBQ (RIP to the great LC Richardson - the best to ever do it), Sammy Hagar, boyfriends of Instagram Models and the strain of COVID-19 on mental health. Â Plus, there may or not be some WandaVision talk (ok...there is definitely some WandaVision talk). We're geeking out, we're waxing poetic, we're just having fun. Â Pour yourself as tall glass of something refreshing and enjoy. Keep being good to yourselves and each other. Until next time...Peace! --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/jerry-jones5/message
Sup Party Crashers - Few people have had more of an impact on American politics over the past 30 years as Rush Limbaugh -- and damn near all of his contributions have produced nothing but gridlock and nastiness. In this episode, we discuss his legacy (briefly) and at the very end we give him the sendoff he deserves (he's hoping Pearl Jam doesn't sue for the use of their song that i feel pretty confident could have been written just for people like Limbaugh). In this episode, we spend most of the time, however on completely non-related topics talking about the Cold-pocalypse, Tik Tok, Jesse "The Body" Ventura, AARP, Rick Perry, my favorite Texas residents (Emily and Shawn), Pietro from WandaVision, Columbia Record Club, Paris, gaining the Covid 19 (lbs) and Texas' energy grid (Okay...that is related to Cold-pocalypse...and Paris and Rick Perry so forget what i just said about being non-related. It is, however, a bunch of nonsense). We think you'll like this episode as it is Jerry in rare, stream-of-consciousness rambling form. It was fun episode to record and we think you'll enjoy listening. Keep being good to yourselves and each other. Until next time...PEACE! Sup Party Crashers! Yeah...so...it's been a minute but nothing quite like an impeachment trial and the awesomeness of 'WandaVision' to get this train wreck back on the airwaves. So yeah, after a three-week (hell, it may have been longer but as we are in the COVID-19 Space-Time continuum) hiatus we are talking about the joys of complaining, ice cream, Jen Psaki, and a**hole Presidents who don't deserve their "Happy Presidents' Day" cards as well as the news of the day (if by news, you mean impeachment). Still, we are having fun and it feels good to be back. Unlike those Zoom calls with old friends that you end by saying "we should do this again soon" and then it is seven months before you text them again, we mean it...we will be back. Like, for real for real this time. Thanks for spending time with us. Until next time, continue to be good to yourselves and each other. Hey Party Crashers - Hope all is well in what has been a completely non-eventful news cycle...it has been years since that has happened and wow does it feel good!!! However, that doesn't stop Jerry from going in on elected officials, including Rep. Kevin McCarthy, Senator Josh Hawley and this might surprise you: President Joe Biden. In fact, Jerry spends most of his time discussing how the Biden administration is getting a couple of things really wrong that could be problematic for his base. There will be no free rides here on the 'Uninvited'. In the heart of this episode, we are discussing the negative effects of having millions of Americans living in a 'pocket reality'. We will be digging into what we are seeing with Trump supporters from 1/6 to today and comparing what they are experiencing with the Disney+ show "WandaVision". *** SPOILER ALERT*** We will be discussing some details of 'WandaVision; and if you have not seen episode 3 you may want to watch it first before listening to this episode. We give you a head's up in the episode if you like to live dangerously but if you don't wanna risk it watch the show first then pop over here to catch this podcast. In this episode we have a little nod to what it will take for us to unify as a nation and then we end it with some profound words from LaDonna Brave Bull Allard to send us out into the week. Go forth in love and justice y'all. Love y'all! --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/jerry-jones5/message
Here's the deal Party Crashers - Sometimes you just gotta skip to the best part of the show and in this case, it clearly is the mashup we did with Ms. Gorman's amazing poetry with Jose Gonzalez's "Instrumental". If you're not feeling me waxing poetic about how incredible the inauguration was, just listen to her groundbreaking poem once again with some nice accompanying music. Peace and Love, y'all! Jerry "The Hill We Climb", written and performed by Amanda Gorman "Instrumental", composed and performed by Jose Gonzalez --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/jerry-jones5/message
Hey Party Crashers!!! We f***ing did it! President Biden and Vice-President are on the job, the Obamas were back on the scene and Amanda Gorman...WOW!!! On the other hand, Bernie was just plain cold. We're having a little bit of fun as we reflect on the victory that you helped to secure. Celebrate, my friends. You deserve it! Love y'all! Jerry "The Hill We Climb", written and performed by Amanda Gorman "Instrumental", composed and performed by Jose Gonzalez --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/jerry-jones5/message
Hey Party Crashers - What's good, y'all! Hoping all is well and that you're in a much more jovial -- and democratic -- mood than our favorite midday judge show commercial pitchman, the My Pillow guy who had a briefing with a President earlier this week to recommend he declare martial law in a last ditch effort to stay in office. Who else is hoping they perp walk the soon-to-be former POTUS out of the White House like he's on an episode of Law and Order: SVU??? We digress. In this week's episode we are talking impeachment, we are talking Covid vaccine, Chucks n' Pearls, Baked Alaska, as well as both the life-giving arrests of the white supremacists who staged a failed coup to overthrow democracy as well as the danger of the FBI deputizing the American people to identify lawbreakers. So yes, it is the audio trainwreck you have come to adore. New year, same hot mess. Love y'all. Stay Classy, 'Merica! --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/jerry-jones5/message
Hey Party Crashers - The title speaks for itself. We got work to do y'all. Jerry --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/jerry-jones5/message
Hey Party Crashers - January 6th is a red-letter day for this country. In this episode, Jerry is talking about his thoughts of feelings that range from sadness to rage. In between, he recounts his morning of 9/11/01, praises Stephen Colbert for his brilliance and he makes a contention that there is reason to be hopeful despite all we experienced yesterday. This episode is straight from the heart - which is no different than every other show - but this time it is literally all heart. No brains. Now some of you are wondering how that is different from every other episode. That is fair. In any case, it is real and we think you're gonna enjoy it. Thanks for hanging with us. Presheatecha!!! --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/jerry-jones5/message
Hey Party Crashers! What's good???!!! We made it y'all and now that we are here what better way to kick off your first week back than listening to Jerry having fun while rambling on about Josh Hawley's bid to derail the Biden election, how Ted Cruz is trying to pull an Indiana Jones (trust me...the take is as ridiculous as it sounds) and why Senator John Cornyn's Christmas brisket should have its own burner Twitter account. We also get into the GA runoff election (in two days) and how Trump is doing everything imaginable to ensure the Democrats take control of the US Senate before Jerry shares his New Years Resolutions for the 2021. Here's hoping that you continue to be good to yourselves and each other. Thank you for stepping into the New Year with this show. Do Good. Hey Party Crashers - We've made it...we are here at the precipice of one year and on the verge of stepping into another (here's to it not being sh*t like 2020 has been). Look, we have all been thru it and yet, here we still are. Despite all the hell we've been thru, it is what we decided to do right now that will shape what our tomorrow looks like. So please take time to be as good and kind to yourselves as you are to others. Also, thank you so very much for making this show a small part of your life. I am so very grateful for you and hope you know that I am rooting for you just as you have been supporting me. Thank you, thank you, thank you. Do Good, Be Well and Happy New Year! Hey Party Crashers - We are almost there: the end of this crazy year. Just like the season finale of 'The Mandalorian' we are finishing strong, even as we shed a few tears in the process. In this episode, we pay homage to the one of the best endings in Star Wars history while also using it as an example of how we might approach the fountain of hope that is 2021. We are talking Covid vaccines, failed algorithms and all the things we need to call by its name just like we were The Mandalorian. So yes this is a total geek fest, pep talk and a virtual hug all wrapped up into one. Hope you enjoy it is much as i did recording it. (well...hope you enjoy it more because trying to recording this episode was an absolute dumpster fire. Let's just blame 2020, shall we?!) Peace and Love to you all. Happy Holidays. Hey Party Crashers - In this episode, Jerry actually breaks some news (he didn't but let's let him think that he did) regarding the Attorney General before going into a small diatribe on how identity politics gets in the way of enjoying really, really bad (in the best possible way) political ads, celebrating the arrival of the COVID-19 Pfizer vaccine and the Electoral College certification of Joseph R. Biden as the President-elect of the United States. However, Jerry gets on a soapbox (rightfully so) on that POS Wall Street Journal editorial that ran this past weekend on Dr. Jill Biden and how it is past time for us to begin to rid ourselves of expired ideas. In the episode, Jerry begins to make the case that in order for the nation to move forward in a post-Covid future that we must confront the systemic demons of America's past. This one is short, a little sweet but packs a serious punch. We hope you'll enjoy it. Keep being good to yourselves and each other. Peace! --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/jerry-jones5/message
Hey Party Crashers - We've got a freaking vaccine...GIVE IT UP TO SCIENCE, HUH?!!! So yesterday we had the first recipients of the covid vaccine in the UK and it means the beginning of the end is near for this pandemic. We are celebrating the work of science (while also taking a timeout to humble brag on my exceptional team -- no we are not scientists but we are a collection of epidemiologists, behavioralists, ethnographers and grassroots organizers -- kicking ass to crush this damn virus) and more importantly celebrating the collaborative nature of the most significant achievements in science such as the discovery of the Higg's Boson, landing humans on the moon and now this covid vaccine. As we celebrate this feat, we recognize (and discuss) that the same collaborative innovative mindset it took to create this life-saving vaccine must be applied to address the root causes of the systemic inequities which are causing the death and destruction this virus has manifested. In between, Jerry makes a confession related to Michael Buble (don't ask), a couple of unsolicited Audible recommendations, discusses the real difference between using the term "minority" and "minoritized" and hands out a few Person-of-the-Year awards for good measure. So basically, it's just Jerry being Jerry. Enjoy the show. Thanks for sticking around (or for coming back). Keep being good to yourself and to each other. Love Ya More! - The Uninvited 'Feeling Good' performed by Nina Simone 'Keeping the Faith' performed by Billy Joel *** The words and thoughts expressed in this episode (or any episode of this podcast) are those of Jerry Jones and not of Jerry's employer...nor of Billy Joel or Nina Simone (obviously) *** --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/jerry-jones5/message
Hey Party Crashers - This episode is not at all fun but rather somber as we discuss the human side of the coronavirus where the struggle to hold our collective you-know-what together is not only real but seemingly ever-present. We just want you to know that no matter how you have had to survive to get to this point during the pandemic, YOU ARE A SUCCESSFUL PERSON. Though the systems around you are failing, you are holding things down in admirable ways. We want you to know that we see you and that we love you. We encourage you to stay strong and most importantly, to stay together. We are all we have and during this rough patch we are going to need each other to get thru it. Thank you for sticking with us and we look forward to better days (and hopefully, better shows!) Peace and Love, Jerry --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/jerry-jones5/message
Hey Party Crashers - What's good y'all?! Hope you're having a great week and that you are as excited as we are that in seven weeks a whole new era of being an American will begin. In this episode we are talking about how it is time for us put Trump in the Giveaway pile and start preparing for times when we aren't in a constant state of dread.,,,but don't you worry, in this episode we will discuss Trump's Tiny Desk Rudy's pardon scheme and whether or not JaVanka will receive pre-emptive pardons before they leave the White House. Jerry geeks out a little bit on his team's COVID-19 work, shares some new updates on the covid vaccine and takes a left to talk Snoop Dogg, celebrity boxing, Denver Broncos and ends with a flourish of death metal evangelism. So yeah, a typical weird-ass Uninvited episode. Thank y'all for spending time with us. We're grateful for you. Keep being good to yourselves and each other. Peace and Love, Jerry --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/jerry-jones5/message
Happy Thanksgiving Party Crashers - Hope you all are having a safe and fulfilling day. On today's episode we are congratulating ourselves for making it to this day despite all of the craziness of 2020, as well talking about the pardoning of turkeys and jive turkeys, reflecting on the original covid hero Joe Exotic, hyping up the best Lois Lane of all-time (Amy Adams), the Trump Time continuum and because of Thanksgiving, there is a little football talk. Also, we are throwing some major shade on Turkey as a dish. If you wanna @ us with your defense of the large and tasteless bird, get at us @the.uninvited.podcast on IG. Also, send pics of all your grub. We love us some food porn around here! Be good to yourselves and each other today.
