Fourth Sunday in EasterPope LIV's episcopal motto is "In Illo Uno Unum," which translates to "In the One, we are one". This motto, a Latin phrase taken from St. Augustine's teachings, emphasizes the unity of Christians in Christ. The fact that we are not one brings scandal. Nonetheless, the pope serves as shepherd over the entire flock. May God bless our new holy father in uniting the world.Scripture Readings for Sunday May 11th, 2025Acts 13:14, 43-52Psalm 100:1-3, 5Revelation 7:9, 14-17John 10:27-30

Solemnity of Jesus Christ, King of the UniverseThe dialogue between Pilate and Jesus is quite intriguing: “Are you a king?” Both Pilate and Jesus are coming from two different understandings of kingship. Jesus responds, “Yes, I have a kingdom, but it is not of this world. Christ's kingdom is derived from a greater power than intimidation and worldly influence. The kingdom of God is built upon willing the good of the other; love. I believe when we stand before almighty God, we will be asked one question: "did you love"? By the help of God's grace and love, let us build now what we so often pray for: “Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.”Scripture Reading for November 24, 2024Daniel 7:13-14Psalm 91:1, 1-2, 5Revelation 1:5-8John 18:33-37

Maté critiques societal norms that perpetuate stress, disconnection, and trauma, proposing that many health issues stem from these factors.Biblical Perspective:From a Christian viewpoint, normalcy is defined by God's purpose for humanity, as outlined in the Bible.Romans 12:2 emphasizes transforming one's mind to discern God's will, rather than conforming to worldly standards.Christianity offers a framework for understanding health and normalcy based on biblical principles and spiritual well-being.Five Main Themes of Maté's Book:Trauma and Its Impact:Cultural Toxicity:Mind-Body Connection:Healing and Recovery:Small t and Big T Trauma.Christian Counter Perspectives:Human Dignity:Role of Forgiveness:Ultimate Hope and Redemption:Community and the Church:Worldview and Authority:Conclusion:While Maté's insights into trauma and societal norms offer valuable perspectives, a Christian viewpoint emphasizes spiritual health, the reality of sin, and the transformative power of a relationship with God through Jesus Christ. Maté's advocacy for psychedelics and engaging with spirits for healing is critically examined and refuted based on biblical principles of sobriety, self-control, dependence on God, and the sanctity of the body (Ephesians 5:18, 1 Corinthians 6:19-20).Closing Thoughts:Understanding trauma and societal issues from both secular and Christian perspectives can provide a comprehensive view of health and well-being. Embracing biblical principles offers a unique and holistic approach to healing, grounded in faith and community.Scripture References:Romans 12:2John 16:33Psalm 147:3James 5:14-161 Corinthians 12:12-27Galatians 6:2Hebrews 10:24-251 Peter 4:8Isaiah 53:5Revelation 21:4Ephesians 5:181 Corinthians 6:19-20Genesis 1:27Matthew 6:14-15Ephesians 4:32Colossians 2:8Ask Ralph - Christian FinancePractical Advice based in Christian Faith. Jesus invited his followers to count the cost. As a chief tax collector, Zacchaeus likely knew the prices of his day. But he counted the cost when salvation came to his house and found the greatest treasure of all. The cost of discipleship may seem high. But the cost of non-discipleship is so much higher. As a society, we tend to shy away from topics that are considered arcane or mysterious. We often dismiss them as irrelevant or unimportant, focusing instead on more tangible and practical matters. However, there are those who believe that understanding these obscure topics can shed light on the world around us and even bring us closer to the truth. One such topic is the Council of Eight, a group that has been shrouded in mystery and secrecy for centuries. Vicki Joy Anderson, the author of "They Only Come Out at Night," has started doing extensive research on the Council of Eight. In this recent podcast interview, she shares her insights into this mysterious group and its potential impact on our understanding of the world. Fifth Sunday of EasterToday's Gospel, though short in length, challenges people to evaluate their biases and prejudices towards loving others. Love is a commitment to life in choosing to lay down one's life for another person in real and tangible ways. Fr. Pedro Arrupe, SJ sums up this call to love rather well:Nothing is more practical than finding God, than falling in Love in a quite absolute, final way. What you are in love with, what seizes your imagination, will affect everything. It will decide what will get you out of bed in the morning, what you do with your evenings, how you spend your weekends, what you read, whom you know, what breaks your heart, and what amazes you with joy and gratitude. Fall in Love, stay in love, and it will decide everything.Scripture Readings for May 15, 2022Acts 13:14, 43-52Psalm 100:1-3, 5Revelation 7:9, 14-17John 10:27-30
Fourth Sunday of EasterThe early Church seemed to have been quite chaotic as a result of Jesus' death and resurrection from the dead. Therefore, the teachings about the resurrection brought forward jealousy and division among the Jewish people. Paul and Barnabas understood this and continued to work diligently and prayerfully for the kingdom of God. How can we be a source of welcome and peace with regards to the faith? Scripture Readings for May 8, 2022Acts 13:14, 43-52Psalm 100:1-3, 5Revelation 7:9, 14-17John 10:27-30

By Trevor Adams | Revelation 21:1-8, Revelation 22:1-5Revelation 21:1-8, Revelation 22:1-5 (NIV)Revelation? Nooooo!! was my instant thought-reaction when told the Bible passage we're using. I was encouragingly surprised when I read many experts were aware of the same fear over the years. However, this time I learnt an amazing thing. Instead of what I had swallowed over the years from REVELATION, i.e., doom, gloom, eternal fire, punishment and many unimaginable horrors of punishment, NOW I read, was shown, discovered, learnt, REVELATION is also rich with depictions of new life, a new heaven, a new earth, hope for the nations of the world - not just a few chosen ones, but whoever comes to the waters of life and the tree of life will be given eternal refreshment, healing, life and all that is good, wonderful, positive etc. etc.
Scripture Reference:Jeremiah 2:29-32Isaiah 1: 10-20KEY POINTS1. Church attendance is great, but not enough to increase our faith, however investing time with God daily will lead us to Heaven's gate.Matthew 19: 28-302. So who or what are we willing to subtract some time from and give it to God, social media, tell lie vision, friends or Mom and Dad?Matthew 6:33Mark 1: 35-393. When we invest time with God and we are really listening, he will lead and guide us straight to our blessing.John 15:5Revelation 2:1-54. Okay real talk, if we don't make God our daily priority, why would he make our blessings a priority?(This is why so many are still awaiting a blessing)James 4:1-10

Have I been giving enough to experience a joyful liberty from the tyranny of money and things?1 Timothy 6:7–11Ezekiel 28:4–5Revelation 3:17–18.Lord, I realize that in most places around the world, I would be regarded as extremely wealthy (even if I am lower or middle class in this place and time).
