Originally uploaded November 7th, re-edited Dec. 2nd. Chris Holman welcomes Reyna Masko, Founder and CEO of Aurora International Foods, Aurora International Foods , Grand Haven, MI. PRODUCT: Reyna's Michelada Mix TOPIC: Reyna's Michelada Mix is now available at 46 new Meijer stores across Metro Detroit per Meijer's "Local Favorites" program. Their discussion covered several things including; What's the story behind your company, Aurora International Foods? Why did you choose Reyna's Michelada Mix as your first product? What does this expanded product reach mean for your company? You were recently selected as Start Garden's top ten recipient, awarding you $20k toward your business. How has that impacted operations? What do you hope to come out of this expansion/partnership with Meijer? Women-led startup selected for ”Local Favorites” program. GRAND RAPIDS, Mich., October 30, 2024 – Aurora International Foods, creator of high-quality, all-natural products at the intersection of Latin American flavors, culture, and convenience, today announced its Reyna's Michelada Mix will be on shelves at 46 Meijer stores across Metro Detroit. The original flavor of Reyna's Michelada Mix will be available at these new locations beginning this month. Through the new “Local Favorites” program, Meijer brings small, local businesses to the forefront, or in this case, the aisle endcap! Reyna's Michelada Mix, the creation of Reyna Oréllana Masko, an immigrant from El Salvador, was selected to join several other culturally significant local businesses in this initiative. “My mother, Aurora, and my work within the Hispanic communities have taught me the power that food has to bring people together,” said Reyna Oréllana Masko, owner and CEO of Aurora International Foods. “This opportunity allows me to reach an expanded audience from our base in Grand Haven, and draw people into the enchantment of Latin American flavors. It's an honor to be on the shelves alongside other Michigan-based food businesses this holiday season.” The original flavor of Reyna's Michelada Mix will be available at 46 Meijer stores in Southeast Michigan beginning this month. Partnering with local and national suppliers, both large and small, allows the retailer to have a broad product offering that meets customers' needs. “I admire the commitment to inclusion at Meijer, and how hard they work to make their stores reflect the communities they serve, urging customers to see themselves, their friends, their family, and their neighbors represented on shelves,” added Masko. Visit auroraintlfoods.com/products/ for more information on store locations in Metro Detroit. About Reyna's Michelada Mix Reyna's Michelada Mix is a high-quality, tomato-based blend of all-natural ingredients that takes the work out of mixing different ingredients (you just add your favorite light beer!) while creating an explosion of flavors for your tastebuds to explore. Jeffrey Mosher welcomes Reyna Orellana Masko as Hispanic Heritage Month is at hand from mid-September to mid-October. What better way to celebrate than with a fresh, cold Michelada (AKA the Mexican Bloody Mary) in your hand? Created by Reyna Orellana Masko, Reyna's Michelada Mix is a high-quality, tomato-based blend of all-natural ingredients that takes the work out of mixing different ingredients (you just add your favorite light beer!) while creating an explosion of flavors for your tastebuds to explore. Reyna's Michelada Mix cultivates ties between local community and culture, as it was created from Reyna's passion for food and drink, people, and Hispanic heritage. This drive has recently landed Reyna and her company a spot in Start Garden's 100 Ideas Competition, a grant from the Michigan Hispanic Chamber, and an official WEBENC certification. As September is Hispanic Heritage Month, I'd love to schedule a time for you to speak with Reyna about her Michelada Mix and journey as a woman-owned, minority-owned business in West Michigan. For their conversation Jeffrey had several questions for Reyna: What started Reyna's Michelada Mix? Describe the flavor profile and how you can use Reyna's Michelada Mix. What makes Reyna's Michelada Mix special/unlike anything else on the shelves at Meijer? Reyna, we know you're incredibly involved in the West Michigan Hispanic community, being the founder of Tri-Cities Puentes Initiative. How does Reyna's Michelada Mix fit into your life's work/mission? Where can you find Reyna's Michelada Mix? LAFC opens up their Leagues Cup group stage with a 3-0 win vs Club Tijuana. A sloppy match you can't be mad at when the xG is high, the goals are high, and the sheet is CLEAN. But HONESTLY? This episode is lowkey cursed. We jinxed Aaron Long's solid performance throughout the season thus far; we go down the rabbit hole of a genuinely scary head (or neck?) injury to Tijuana's Christian Rivera, and the ensuing psychotic break of his coach, Juan Carlos Osorio, that resulted in a red card, and will likely result in further suspension and/or fine. But that's not all! Travis can't pronounce "Michelada," Darren admits he doesn't ACTUALLY know anything about Antoine Griezmann (like, at all), and worst of all, Heel Of The Foot, Geoff Tock, calls into the show. Just kidding, it actually gets worse than that. Listen to find out how dark this thing gets! But also it was a fun celebration to a fun win! IT CAN BE BOTH! Last Saturday was our favorite beer fest of the year. Good Word Brewing's Little Beer Fest. This event brings the best of the very best of low ABV beers to Duluth, GA each Spring. It's been an adventure in previous years with weather ranging from scorching hot to sleet and snow, but this year gave us beautiful sunny skies and temps in the 70s.We love little beers. Pilsners, low alcohol stouts, English Ales, bring it on. It's great to attend an event where you can try nearly every beer and still keep your senses. We did out best to make the rounds. For the show this week we sat down with Todd Boera of Fonta Flora Brewing and Jason Glunt of Salud Cerveceria. We chatted a good bit about what makes a good tap list and low alcohol beers, of course. We talk about adding fruit to beer and Todd tells Tim why his opinion on the matter is wrong, in the nicest way possible. We talk about breaking out of a mold of being known for a certain style of beer when you brew across the spectrum.Jason shares his Michelada lager with us, and it's damn tasty, so we talk more about that cocktail and the Mexican Ashtray (New to me. Must try it.) and we talk about staying small and brewing great beer.Keep an eye out in years to come for Little Beer Fest. In a time when festivals and bottle shares and beery get togethers in general seem on the decline we think this fest has the magic sauce to be something special. If you come next year, be sure to stop by and say hi, cause we'll definitely be there. Thanks for listening to Beer Guys Radio! As we delve into the intricate process behind the Michelada mixer's rebranding and its significance to Mexican identity, Adrian offers insights into the philosophy of celebration and festivity that the drink represents. Adrian furnishes us with a tantalizing peek into the history and methodology behind creating Miche Mix's Michelada mixer. He emphasizes the uniqueness of the Michelada cocktail, which stands as Mexico's number one cocktail and introduces it as the "next margarita" poised for explosive popularity in the U.S. This episode not only serves a rich blend of cultural anecdotes but also provides pointers on how to prepare and personalize your Michelada experience with ease, signifying the brand's expansion from a local favorite to an international sensation. Key Takeaways: * Michelada is a beer-based cocktail, recognized as the number one cocktail in Mexico, traditionally consisting of beer, lime, seasoning, and chili, rather than a tomato base. * Miche Mix has recently undergone a rebranding effort to cater to the U.S. market while still preserving its Mexican heritage and authenticity. * The brand's packaging is designed to reflect traditional Mexican culture, using pictures of walls ("rotulos") from Mexico and textured labeling to give consumers a feel of bringing something from a Mexican home to theirs. * The Michelada mixer from Miche Mix is entering the U.S. market with a premium glass bottle format, appealing to consumers looking for high-quality and convenience. * An introduction of single-serve sachets is in the cards for new customers to have an easy entry point to try the Michelada mixer. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/packagingunboxd/message

Living in a foreign land offers a unique combination of excitement and tranquility, but it's not without its challenges. Are you ready to take the leap and discover what surprises await in your own expat journey? He's passionate about sharing his experiences and insights with others considering a similar path, not only through his own journey but also as a host of The Nomadic C-suite podcast. The resources mentioned in this episode are: Try a Michelada by mixing Pilsen beer with fresh squeezed lemon and lime over ice. Look for the spicy and delicious drink called De Liguado made with Costa Rican alcohol called Cassique. Consider moving to Costa Rica for warm weather, a beach lifestyle, and a Spanish speaking culture. Explore the real estate opportunities in Costa Rica, where buying a house can be simple but requires cash. Check out the WeWork for content creators idea and explore opportunities to produce and upload content in Costa Rica. Stay tuned for the next episodes where Mike talks about his time in Tokyo and Chase shares his experience in moving to Bermuda. Cultural Differences When moving to a new country, it's essential to be aware of cultural differences and to remain open to learning and adapting. Respecting and understanding these differences can make the transition smoother and help create better connections with locals and fellow expats. For Ethan and Chase, the pace of life in Costa Rica can be more relaxed than what they were used to in the United States. They recognized that this requires time for adjustment but eventually found it to be appealing and fulfilling. By embracing the differences and adapting to the unique cultural aspects, Ethan and Chase have successfully begun a new chapter in their lives and gained invaluable experiences and insights. Buying a House in Costa Rica Purchasing property in a foreign country can be a complex process, requiring the assistance of local professionals like real estate agents and lawyers to navigate the legal and logistical aspects. Ensuring a smooth transaction is essential to settling down and starting a new life in a new country. Ethan managed to buy a house in Costa Rica quickly and easily, thanks to the help of North American real estate agents and local Costa Rican lawyers. Now living in a community where real estate is the main source of income for many locals, his experience demonstrates the importance of having a support team that understands local laws, customs and language when buying a property abroad. Puravita Culture Living in a new country often means adapting to cultural norms that are different from what one is used to. Embracing these differences can lead to a richer, more fulfilling experience and contribute to personal growth and development. Ethan, Chase, and Mike Wiston discussed the unique aspects of Puravita culture in Costa Rica, from the slow pace of living to its uses as a universal greeting. This laidback and easygoing approach to life is a refreshing change for many expats. Adapting to new cultural norms can be challenging but also deeply rewarding, as it broadens your worldview and allows you to experience life from a different perspective.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Some of the biggest festivals in the country are on hiatus, or cancelled.  Folks just don't seem to be as in to them as they used to be.  With that country's largest festival, Great American Beer Fest, coming up soon all eyes are on the turnout there.  We think it may not be beer fests as much of the type of fests, with a preference for smaller, specialized events.  What do you think? On the science front, Omega Yeast Labs has found the gene responsible for bringing the haze to your hazies.  They're calling it HZY1.  After comparing yeast strains that produce hazier beers and isolating this gene, they've got the magic formula.  We'll have to wait to see what this may mean in the future.Beer Cocktails on the riseSurvey says more people are trying beer cocktails these days, or they're expressing an interest in trying them.  For now, the research is on gateway cocktails like beeritas, shandies, and radlers.  But once they're through the gate who knows what may happen. For our Midwest listeners, have you had Red Beer?  Is it still a thing?  My dad drank "Tomato Beers" back in the day but I just thought it was a crazy thing he did.  Google says this beer cocktail is still pretty popular in the region.  Pops was a trendsetter.Beers of the WeekAnchor Steam BeerSierra Nevada Flipside (Red IPA, Fan Favorites Pack Re-release)Deschutes Black Butte XXXV (Imp. From a simple vacation to a permanent home in paradise, their journey seemed like a dream come true. But what they didn't expect were the challenges that came with living as expats in Costa Rica. Despite the hurdles, they embraced the Pura Vida lifestyle and found ways to give back to the local community while successfully managing a team abroad. Living in a foreign land offers a unique combination of excitement and tranquility, but it's not without its challenges. Are you ready to take the leap and discover what surprises await in your own expat journey? In this episode, you will be able to: Decipher the rewards and obstacles of establishing a business while adjusting to life in a different country. Gain a comprehensive view of living abroad as an expat while managing a team remotely. Acknowledge the importance of fostering community development and sustainability within your business. Find your footing among varying cultural practices in your professional and personal life. Ethan Bloomfield is an adventurous and experienced expat who has spent the last few years embracing the tropical lifestyle in Costa Rica. Having successfully transitioned from living and working in western Massachusetts, Ethan understands the benefits and challenges that come with making such a major life change. He's passionate about sharing his experiences and insights with others considering a similar path, not only through his own journey but also as a host of The Nomadic C-suite podcast. With a background in business and a flair for turning his passion for travel into lucrative side hustles, Ethan is the perfect guest to share valuable advice on adapting to and thriving in a new, culturally diverse environment. Take advantage of the North American and Canadian-friendly business environment in Costa Rica to start a side hustle or business venture. Visit the Costa Rican ranch experience resort project owned by Ethan and his friends.

When I first experienced beer cocktails I don't think that was even a term at the time.  As a kid my parents used to enjoy what they called "Tomato Beers."  It their simplest form it was simply tomato juice and a macro lager over ice with some salt and pepper.  To fancy it up they may use V8 juice or shove a celery stalk in the glass.  Sort of a podunk Michelada.  I stole sips at the time and I guess I enjoyed it; I sure do enjoy a Michelada now. It's likely you've dabbled with beer cocktails as well.  A simple Boilermaker or Black & Tan are technically beer cocktails.  Now we've got a whole variety to check out liked the Dublin Iced Coffee, Hazy Day Afternoon, or maybe an El Chapo. Beer cocktails can be pretty simple or overly complex.  But they're a fun way to mix things up with your beers.  If you've got a favorite let us know! And here's one to get you started... Hazy Day Afternoon Ingredients 1.5oz light rum 0.5oz guava nectar 0.5oz pineapple juice 0.5oz orange juice 0.25oz lime juice 0.5oz simple syrup Hazy IPA Preparation Combine all ingredients except IPA in a shaker and shake. Strain into Collins glass with fresh ice and top with IPA. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
