What will the effect of AI be on talent acquisition and talent acquisition teams and is it the next shift in recruitment? Joining me this week is the ubiquitous Bill Boorman, founder of the Tru conferences and advisor to many rec tech companies. Bill talks me through his career in recruitment, his views on the TA space and the effect of emerging technologies on the TA market. PUBLIC SPEAKING TIPS FOR NEWBIES: HOW TO DELIVER YOUR BEST RECFEST TALK Once upon a time, I too was also a reluctant public speaker. In fact, I did not even see the point of attending industry conferences - after all, what did I have to say, what did I have to learn? I am very glad that I accepted the invitation of one Mr Stephen Donaldson to give a talk at one of his events, Bill Boorman, who set up the first (ur) conference I really attended and Sarah Cooper, who by turning up at the door at the same time persuaded me to 'walk in' rather than walk by. No question: life and career changing - all for the better, as confidence, network, learning and profile have all up levelled. No exaggeration to say that Brainfood would not be here were it not for those early events. I'm keen for others to have the similar opportunity, so hence we're going to do a Brainfood Live on the topic of Public Speaking - in particular, how to get good at it. We're assembling an all star cast of industry professionals who are experienced on stage speakers and trainers. - What do they know about public speaking that others do not? - What are the expected feelings prior to the presentation? - How to build a presentation to enable best delivery? - What is the best method to control nerves? - How can a person who is introverted and hates performance, get better at public speaking? - How body language techniques do we need to know? - Can breathing techniques help? - What makes a memorable talk? - How to make sure you are psychologically level during the presentation? - How do I deliver the best Recfest Talk next week? We're with Akbar Karenga, Founder (Maarusi), Sam Berthoud, VP of Talent Solutions (hackajob), Angela Cripps, MD (Recruitment Gym), Christina Robinson, Founder (Green Umbrella), Bill Boorman, Founder (TRU) & friends Ep263 is sponsored by our buddies The Recruitment Events Co Recruitment Events Company run the No1 Festival for Recruiters - now in Knebworth AND in Nashville, Tennessee. Join thousands of recruiters in a day of learning, celebration, networking and community. Tickets for Knebworth here and for Nashville here. See you there!

To say Bill Boorman has been around the recruitment block a time or two is like admitting fish and chips is a little heavy. Both are well-known facts. That's why we had to grab Bill at UNLEASH World in Paris for his current views on the state of employment, as well as his current engagement with VONQ.

Bill Boorman calls himself a recovering recruiter. He has 40 years of experience in the industry, is strategic consultant to a number of talent acquisition technology companies, and was the founder of the Tru unconferences. Employers may be surprised at some of what Bill has to say, including that the process of hiring people -- high volume or not -- is remarkably similar around the world but with some local nuances. Even more surprising, however, is the discussion on how unimportant an employer's brand is to a candidate deciding what jobs to apply to, yet that doesn't mean that the brand is unimportant. It is important, but not until much later in the hiring process than many employers have been led to believe. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
After two years of making sure laptop microphones are switched on and internet connections are stable, in-person recruitment events have returned! Last week, SocialTalent was delighted to attend RecFest in Knebworth Park. Our 'Hiring and Talent Management' stage played host to a slew of incredible speakers as we discussed some of the most pressing topics in our industry, from employee engagement and driving inclusion in the workplace, to building hiring cultures and promoting internal mobility. On this week's show, we're going to take you through some of our favourite moments from the event. Alongside Kirstie Kelly, Emma Mirrington and Bill Boorman, we'll dig deep into the presentations that really struck a chord with us.
On this week's show our guests are Lydia Wu and Bill Boorman. Lydia is Director of Talent Analytics and Transformation for Panasonic North America, and in her role she's asking a question a lot of us grapple with... what's next? After the changes the pandemic has delivered to the employee/employer relationship how can brands respond to get the best available talent and keep it? Our second chat is the wonderful (and legendary) Bill Boorman. Founder of Tru London, and a talent professional of more than 20 years, we discuss talent, talent attraction and tech from a picnic table at RecFest 2022.
An unconference is a powerful way to facilitate connections and engagement between participants and to enhance our attendees' ability to turn ideas into assets. By providing an unstructured, high-energy environment in which ideas can run and grow freely, we can amplify ideas, creativity and innovation. In this episode, we talk about the concept of an Unconference event and how to bring together participants from all kinds of backgrounds with a shared interest. To discuss this topic, we've brought onto the show the one and only Bill Boorman, founder of #trulondon. Driven by a passion to make recruiting better for everyone, Bill Boorman join us in this episode to chat about talent acquisition and all things internal talent mobility. Together with host Rhonda Taylor, Bill taps into his vast strategic advisor experience to discuss why in an effort to avoid losing people, organizations should be supporting and enabling employees' wishes. This conversation investigates the recent changes we are seeing in talent management, and how talent acquisition is plugging into this new future of work. Bill explains the shift happening in employee mindset, and that organizations who don't want to risk being left behind, need to recognize these shifts and adjust. Employees are in more control of their career experience than ever before, and they need opportunities for self-led learning and internal career movement. As Bill says, “if we stand in the way of that happening in an organization, they're going to make those moves anyway, they're just going to make them in another organization.”Connect with Bill on LinkedIn, Twitter @BillBoorman, or at https://www.vonq.com/.
This one's a real rush of blood to the head! Recruitics and Phenom are continuing the acquisition boom in our industry LinkedIn is looking to take on Fiverr and Upwork. And that's just the Chad & Cheese appetizer, as the boys then dig into billion-dollar companies that poo-poo HR departments, professors who do hardcore drugs to achieve work-life balance, and even a good ol' fashioned dust-up with industry vet Bill Boorman. It's a good time after a week that came with a hefty dose of salt and vinegar. As always, C&C are powered by Jobvite, Sovren, and JobAdx.
The first guest of the HR Tech for Good series is none other than the legend himself, Bill Boorman. Bill is best known for True Events, which he runs around the UK and where he changed the game - conferences are not formal and about selling anymore, people bring true value there and have real conversations about HR, Technology, and Environment. He's also a part of the Northampton Borough Council, where he's doing amazing work regarding the ''rough sleepers'', as he calls them - the homeless population that needs help fighting the pandemic. Bill sits in a lot of different camps, he's a visionary that looks in the future and asks the important questions - which is why we couldn't have chosen a better way to kick off this podcast. Hope you enjoy it!

Bill Boorman shares with Talking People & Tech about HR teams can be the custodians of diversity and inclusion. Bill notes that recruitment is a space that, depending on the firm and job type, has specific challenges and goals in creating its culture. He addresses how to do away with old generalizations and how to build a new framework aimed at creating an inclusive environment.
If you’re working at a company with a not-so-great culture, you still have hires to make. Robin Schooling and Bill Boorman say you need to focus on truth-telling and hiring employees, not just bringing applicants in the door. Your relationship with those employees is what stands the test of time.

@BillBoorman - @JohnnyCampbell of @SocialTalent - @StephenODonn We just can't get enough Bill Boorman. The hobo recruiting consultant was on the show just a few weeks ago but after it was over he claimed that I didn't give him enough time to provide evidence to support his claim that more and more jobs are becoming short term affairs. So, nice guy that I am, I invited him back to give him a second chance. And since he's a popular chap, Bill called in from a pub after a day at The Recruiting Unconference in Edinburgh so the sound quality was irregular. The show has been edited down to cut the garbled parts out.
@BillBoorman -- LINKEDIN When I first met Bill Boorman he was the only guy in the room wearing a suit. Today he looks like a hobo. And when I met Bill Boorman, he used to be a recruiting trainer. Tomorrow he is leading a webinar called: Digital HR: From Recruitment to Payroll (and Everything in Between). It makes me wonder, "Bill, what happened?" and today I'm going to find out.
At first Jerry told me no show on December 23. Then he said yes show on December 23. So I invited Bill Boorman to be the guest. Then Jerry told me no guest on December 23. So I uninvited Bill Boorman. The question now is: will Jerry show up on December 23? Allison Kruse (the persona girl) told me that if we have a show she would like us to sing happy birthday for her and if there is a show we certainly will. Happy Birthday, dear. She listens to the show while she runs.
