Why is the Cadillac F1 deal taking so long? It's complicated.Climb the ladder with me on Patreon: https://patreon.com/lawvsIn this video, we break down the unexpected delay of Cadillac's entry into Formula 1, revealing insider insights and key moments that have left fans and stakeholders questioning the stalled deal. With an agreement in principle now resembling “smoking mirrors,” the discussion shifts to strategic changes—highlighting the possibility of new races in emerging markets like Asia and Africa, such as the rumoured return to Kyalami and events in Nigeria and Rwanda being on the minds of many...and the financial and regulatory hurdles that may be influencing Liberty Media's decisions and delaying formal approval. The analysis also covers how the ongoing Department of Justice investigation and concerns over franchise dilution are adding further complexity to the situation. Let's try and understand why General Motors' multi-million-dollar commitment, combined with lucrative US market deals, might be reshaping the F1 landscape, and get ready for a closer look at the factors that could redefine the future of the sport.#f1 #cadillac #formula1 #formulaone #f12026 #andretti #f1news #f1latest #f1drama #f1updates #cadillacf1 #f12025 #marioandretti

Rumours are rife that South Africa's iconic Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit could be gearing up to host Formula 1 racing again. (Kyalami hosted its first race in 1961 before it fell off the Formula 1 calendar in 1993, and Africa has not been a host to another race since then. South Africa's Minister of Sport, Arts, and Culture, Gayton McKenzie, met with Formula 1 CEO, Stefano Domenicali, as well as FIA President, Mohammed Ben Sulayem, during the Azerbaijan Grand Prix in September 2024. In late October, McKenzie took to X (formerly known as Twitter) to announce that "F1 is coming home soon". Bringing the beloved sport back to African soil would be no small feat. The event would require considerable effort and co-ordination. So, what will be required to reach FIA Grade 1 accreditation? In this episode, Jabu is joined by Dr. Kamilla Swart-Arries, Program Director of the Masters of Sports & Entertainment Management and Associate Professor at Hamad Bin Khalifa University, to discuss the potential return of Formula 1 to Africa. Dr. Swart-Arries explores the history of F1 on the continent, from the 1958 Moroccan Grand Prix to the last race held in South Africa in 1993. She also examines the prospects of Rwanda and South Africa as frontrunners to host the next African Grand Prix, highlighting the efforts of South African Sports Minister Gayton McKenzie in advocating for Kyalami's return to the F1 circuit. Together, they discuss the strategic and financial commitments needed for an African circuit to successfully host F1, considering the high costs and FIA circuit accreditation requirements involved. ---------------

KYALAMI GRAND PRIX South Africa has reportedly lost its bid to host a Formula One race in the near future, supposedly due to its political alignment with Russia. Plans to return the Kyalami circuit to the F1 fold for the first time in 30 years gained momentum recently after seven-times world champion Lewis Hamilton said he would like to race in South Africa. Africa is the only continent not to have a race on the F1 schedule. It was reported late last year that the country had lost the bid to host a race in 2023 when talks between F1 and promoter Warren Scheckter broke down over financial details. The focus shifted to staging a South African Grand Prix in 2024 with 777, a sports investment company based in Miami, taking over promotion of the event.

After a four-week summer break, Formula 1 engines finally roared again at last weekend's Belgian Grand Prix, with Max Verstappen taking a supremely commanding win to further tighten his grip on the 2022 F1 World Championship. In the lead-up to the Spa event, though, F1 news was dominated by the long-awaited announcement that Audi would be joining the sport in 2026 as a power unit supplier.Joining Michael Butterworth to discuss the key issues from the Belgian Grand Prix weekend is Dieter Rencken, Editorial Director of RacingNews365.While Audi have finally committed to F1, a similar announcement has not yet been forthcoming from Porsche, who have been heavily linked with Red Bull. What's behind this delay? And with Honda's partnership with Red Bull now having yielded championship success, is the Japanese firm looking to row back on its earlier decision to leave F1, and instead continue with the drinks-backed squad?Though it appeared likely to drop off the F1 calendar, Spa has been granted a reprieve for 2023 after a deal to bring back the South African Grand Prix failed to materialise. What scuppered the chance of a race at Kyalami? And after his dominant win at Spa, will Verstappen break Michael Schumacher and Sebastian Vettel's record of 13 wins in a single season?

We round up the latest F1 news as Oscar Piastri looks set to replace Nicholas Latifi and Kyalami is rumoured to be joining the F1 calendar... but at what cost?
The last time that South Africa hosted a Formula 1 championship at Kyalami was in 1993 before democracy dawned in the country. In the years up to then, it hosted legends like Damon Hill, Sterling Moss, James Hunt, Niki Lauda, and off course our own world champion, Jody Scheckter with the 9-hour races attracting top endurance riders and teams. In the last year; talks have been going on in the background to re-instate the South African Grand Prix. And now, Motorsport SA Chairman Anton Roux, a well-known board room veteran's appointment to the senate of the international body overseeing motorsport, the FIA or Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile has given new hope that a South African Grand Prix could be on the calendar by 2023. Roux spoke to BizNews about the drive to get Formula 1 back in South Africa, the Hamilton-Verstappen controversy, how a new generation of younger, female, and non-white participants and spectators are emerging and where spinning cars, which have become popular in townships, fit in.
