Sri Krishna Prem: A Wing and a Prayer is an in-depth, spiritual biography of a British fighter pilot (WW I), Ronald Nixon (1898-1965). Raised in an intellectually vibrant family, educated at Cambridge, he had a religious experience during one of his flights as a RAF pilot, and when the war ended, he embarked on a religious/philosophical journey that carried him to India, first as a university professor, and then into the religious world of his mentors, the university's vice-chancellor, G.N. Chakravarti and his wife, Monica (Yashoda Mai). Initiated by Yashoda Mai, he joined a movement celebrating the 16th century saint and reformer, Sri Krishna Chaitanya (1486-1533) and helped establish the still-functioning Mirtola ashram. Along the way he studied Theosophy and Buddhism and towards the end of his life developed a philosophy of his own that, though based on the religious traditions and philosophies he practiced and studied, was more universal in scope than the traditions he was formally connected with. The narrative is that as parent carers we often have to fight. Enter the Gladiator ring: for Elly Chapple this began in 2020 with her daughter fighting for her life in ITU and within weeks she was fighting for her family to stay together. In this special episode of The Skies We're Under Podcast, Elly Chapple and George Julian share the unfolding events and human rights case brought on behalf of Ella when her mother Ellie was removed from her home after child protection proceedings began.  This conversation brings together the many facets of trauma families face. It is a real-life example of parent carer trauma, trauma in people with profound disabilities, systems generated trauma and being brought to the brink. This powerful and vulnerable episode comes with special thanks to Elly and her family for sharing their personal story. This week we had a very fun time talking with Dr. Taylor Chapple about maximizing datasets with video biologgers that are attached to sharks! Are you listening to the podcast and wondering who Dr. Alex McInturf is? Listen to our very first interview episode in Season 1! We chat with Dr. Chapple about his article, Ancillary data from animal-borne cameras as an ecological survey tool for marine communities Article Summary: Underwater visual surveys, such as diver-based video surveys, are a common and essential technique in measuring and managing marine ecosystems. However, there are several limitations to doing such surveys, such as recreational diving depth limitations, or animal interactions that preclude safe diving (such as White shark - sea lion interactions). Biologging camera tag devices are commonly used to study a single, focal species' behavior. However, ecosystem-wide data is collected and could be used to monitor and assess habitats that may not be accessible to humans. In this study, Chapple et al. use a video camera logger on a White shark off Gansbaai, South Africa, and a Grey Reef shark within the Chagos Archipelago, to determine if video logging could be used to measure the habitat structure of their respective environments. They used established methods to analyze video data and found that the biologging from the sharks was relatively comparable. Using biologgers such as the ones used in this study could maximize the overall cost and effort of tagging deployments by gathering more ecosystem-wide data, than just the focal species data. Join our Patreon Follow us on Instagram @Sharkpediapod Submit an article for us to review on the podcast!

In this episode Bunny chats to Dr Olivia Chapple MRCGP, the co – founder of the Horatio's Garden Charity. It was Olivia's son Horatio that had the initial idea to create a garden for the spinal unit at Salisbury hospital. At the age of 16 he had started the fund raising, got permission from the hospital and earmarked the space having carried out a survey with the patients on how their lives, post a life changing injury, could be improved.  Tragically Horatio was killed by a polar bear aged 17. Olivia took on the challenge and now seven of the gardens are established and they are aiming to create gardens for the remaining 4 spinal units too.  See the YouTube video ‘Bunny Chats to Olivia Chapple of Horatio's Garden', on Bunny's YouTube channel.

This is the time of year we're all surrounded by people, decorating, shopping for presents, attending parties, and of course, spending time with family. This time of year may be quite tough for some people for a variety of reasons. This week, I contacted Holly Chapple. Holly is well-known for her wedding and events, her Chapple designer community, FlowerStock, her partnership with Syndicate Sales, and so much more. I'm honored that she's been on our podcast three times before, and this year has been really tough for Holly and her whole family with the loss of her husband Evan in June. Because so many people care about the Chapple family, I reached out to her to ask if she was okay with providing us an update on how they're doing and what's in store for them in 2023. Today, Holly discusses some of her experiences throughout this crisis, including the process of picking up the pieces and how they're attempting to move ahead. Today isn't so much about flowers as it is about life and coping with enormous loss. Thank you for being so courageous Holly.
