Chris rose to lead the ATP and helped fuel unprecedented growth in prize money and revenues in professional tennis. While I was partly expecting it and it's the right call that doesn't mean it doesn't suck on an individual level. I know a lot of us have dealt with races being cancelled. This is how I feel: I feel like a great opportunity and something I was absolutely looking forward to has been stolen. I feel like I've let my hopes up only to let them get torn down over & over. I woke up and just wanted to give up... BUT THEN I slapped my sorry a$$ into gear and realized it's not the end of the world: We can still enjoy our training, work on fitness goals, and importantly, find fun and community with the individuals in our sport. We can become greater through the hardship. It's ok to have crap days but remember the words of Rocky "It ain't about how hard you can hit. It's about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward."   What's New in the 303: Sam Long Registered for BRAC Invites Triathletes to  State Time Trial Championships The Bicycle Racing Association of Colorado (BRAC) is inviting Triathletes, multisport athletes, and unlicensed cyclists to attend the State Time Trial Championships in Keenesburg, CO on Saturday, July 18th. Depending on age and ability level, there are races of 10, 20, or 40 Km. Riders start at 1-minute intervals and race the “race of truth.” All care is being taken to follow the Public Health Orders for social distancing at outdoor events.   The EPIC MINI Triathlon It's on.  The first tri of the season.   Corporate Fitness Challenge with Virgin Pulse This past Monday our company started our Corporate Fitness Competition.  Teams of 5 register on this website to compete against teams of 5 throughout the company.  There are 91 teams.  The winning team is the one with the most cumulative steps over 6 weeks.  You simply link your device to the app.  The app uses your iphone steps or your device steps, whichever is higher each day.  You can also add activities like swimming, biking, or nearly any activity.  They have a conversion that takes how many minutes and the intensity of an activity and converts it to steps. For example, 1 minute of Body Building translates to 118 steps.  Cycling for 1 minute at 10-13 mph is 157 steps.  Cycling for 1 minute at 20+mph is 315 step.  A 10 mile run is about 17K steps.  The have a cap of 30K per day.  So the most a team can get each day is 150K/day.  I've done 30K per day for 4 days.  I have to keep this up for 5 1/2 more weeks.   Video of the Week: Garage Talk #13: Maxx Chance   Upcoming Interviews: Mark Allen to talk to us about the advice he's giving his athletes during COVID, how to use virtual racing, but not overdo it, and more. Those include Felix Auger-Aliassime’s hold over Stefanos Tsitsipas, the awesome sight of Serena Williams vs Victoria Azarenka followed by the distressing sight of Serena retiring against Garbine Muguruza, Sloane Stephens’ slump in form, the limitless talent of Bianca Andreescu, and unfulfilled hype as Nick Kyrgios vs. Novak Djokovic won’t be happening. LISTEN TO GRAEME AGARS TALK WITH D'ARCY AND GORAN Men's tennis could be facing a player revolt, with a war over player power and pay brewing behind the scenes at the Australian Open.In a dramatic move which could see major changes made to the tour, players council president and world No. 1, Novak Djokovic, on Saturday reportedly voted against extending the tenure of ATP chief executive Chris Kermode at a meeting in Melbourne, AAP reported. The ATP board will vote on the organisation's new leadership at the conclusion of the Open, starting today.Tennis Australia and Australian Open boss, Craig Tiley, is widely tipped to take the top job if Kermode is demoted.Djokovic, however, wouldn't confirm his vote due to the meeting's confidentially."The decision hasn't been made on the president," Djokovic said."Whether there's a renewal or not, it's going to be decided in the next period."Although Djokovic hailed Tennis Australia for boosting Open prizemoney by 14 per cent to a whopping $62.5million, he insisted that more needed to be done."One of the things from yesterday's general meetings that is kind of echoing in my ear is that there's this conviction of people generally in sport, including us, that only a hundred players can live out of this sport," Djokovic said."That's something that ATP is definitely, us as players, part of the council, are trying to change."We're trying to increase the number of players that are able to travel around the world, not just cover expenses, have the full team, have a decent living out of the sport that they play."Novak Djokovic during a practice session ahead of the start of the Australian Open in Melbourne. Photo / GettyMeanwhile, Swiss maestro Roger Federer said there was a lot of things happening behind the scenes and said he would take soundings from other players on their views."It's definitely interesting times, I'd like to call it, not bad times in our sport. It's maybe also a bit of a transition time. So it will be interesting to see what's going to happen," he said.According to The Telegraph, a strongly worded email was sent out by player council member Vasek Pospisil to the players ranked between 50 and 100, which calls for the workforce to "start acting and running like a business not like a bunch of scared kids … we need a CEO that first and foremost represents OUR interests". Twitter Ads info and privacyPospisil's argument has much in common with last year's suggestions from Djokovic that tennis should have a player's union that is separate from the ATP.As Pospisil writes "the governance structure of the ATP favours the interests of the tournaments and its [their] owners … It's time for a change and it can be achieved by staying unified and demanding what we deserve for our hard work".ATP boss Chris Kermode. Photo / PhotosportThere are three tournament representatives on the ATP board and three player representatives: namely Justin Gimelstob (the commentator and ex-player who is facing assault charges in Los Angeles), David Egdes (Gimelstob's close associate from the Tennis Channel, and a temporary board member who came in less than two months ago) and Alex Inglot (formerly director of communications at the betting data firm Sportradar).Australian coach Darren Cahill, meanwhile, was quick to rail against the potential change on Twitter in support of Kermode, who he said had brought significant increases in prize money and facility upgrades to the tour."I'd be stunned if Chris Kermode is removed. ATP needs stability right now," he wrote.Former Australian Open champion Stan Wawrinka told the Telegraph that he cannot understand why Kermode needs to be removed."It [the vote] is big for the sport," said Wawrinka."The most important will be to keep our president. All the things going on behind [the scenes] to try to put pressure on some people, to try to move the actual person, doesn't feel clean, doesn't feel good."If you look what's happened the last few ye...

With two days to go before the 2019 Australian Open, the main story in town is still Andy Murray’s announcement that he will retire before the end of the year. Following their immediate reaction to the news yesterday, David Law and Catherine Whitaker were joined for further reflections on Saturday by The Telegraph’s Simon Briggs. The self-proclaimed ‘Andy Murray correspondent’ has spent eight years covering Murray’s career, so what does he make of yesterday’s events? What was Murray like in his half hour sit-down with the British press corps? And has he given himself some wriggle room by talking about a possible hip resurfacing operation?Nick Kyrgios was one of many players to pay tribute to Murray. In an interview with Catherine, he even hinted that he’d like to be coached by Murray one day. How might that work? And what of Kyrgios’ own chances this fortnight? Finally, Simon gives his take on the political storm surrounding tonight’s player council meeting in Melbourne. Why do some players want to eject Chris Kermode from his position as ATP president? Are they actually calling for a players’ union? And how is the situation complicated by the felony charge hanging over Justin Gimelstob?
