Today I speak with Christopher Curtis as we check into the third of Hex, Mute, Nova, Beatz, and Killswitch and the city of Neo Haven as portals have been releasing Kaiju type Monsters into the city. The Mayor is instructed to relay any info he has through a heavily influenced Cabal who shadow run the metropolis. Killswitch in Issue 2 is surprisingly attacked by the Mayor's Chief of staff who has a secret familiarity to her and the team has slightly disbanded. Christopher and I also have a discussion about the Indie Manga space as popular youtubers may feel the exposure online allows them to skip a step into anime. We continue by discussing the difference between Traditional Japanese Manga and American styled Manga.Support this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/the-faqs-project-hosted-by-james-grandmaster-faqs-boyce/donations

https://www.amazon.com/Orange-County-Dark-Christopher-Curtis-ebook/dp/B0BW7MYL6P The land of milk and honey, streets paved with gold, and a place your dreams can come true are the illusions of Orange County. But, when you cross to the other side, The Dark Side, life is quite different. On the dark side, allowances given are lines of cocaine. Drive-by shootings are a daily occurrence, and parents are not the protectors but the ones who send you out to score for them. This was Christopher Curtis' life. Taking the reader to some of his earliest memories and on through his third strike prison sentence, this book is gritty and realistic. All the systems in place to help the kids who fall through the cracks failed Christopher. As he matures, the addiction, crimes, and lifestyle accelerate and degrade. The book contains the despair that, at times, Christopher did not even realize was part of his day. The ups and downs of drugs. The using and selling, the getting away with and being punished for his crimes. The community that revolves around an addict is all exposed in plain language, the original written by Christopher on a typewriter. What do you do when the deck is not only stacked against you but reinforced with concrete? Survival is the only goal. And survive is what Christopher did. He is here to tell the tale with the hope that someone also on the Dark Side of their street catches a glimpse of themselves and can see the way to a better life.
Today I speak once again with Christopher Curtis who brings us the second issue of JAZZ (Juggernauts against Zealous Zealots) where a team of extraordinary radicals fight the establish in the city of Neo Haven. Guests: Journalists Samira Mohyeddin and Christopher Curtis Student protests that first erupted across the United States have now spread northward, igniting across Canada, including campuses at University of Toronto, McGill University, University of British Columbia and University of Alberta among others. The students say they want to end a war that's claimed more than 34,000 Palestinian lives, according to local officials, destroyed or damaged every university in Gaza and displaced hundreds of thousands of people. The recent Israeli offensive against Gaza began after the Oct. 7 attack by Hamas militants which killed almost 1,200 Israelis with dozens still held hostage. The students are specifically calling for universities to cut all financial and academic ties with any Israeli company or campus that supports the military or illegal West Bank settlements based on international law. In this episode we take a look at what's going inside the University of Toronto and McGill University campuses through the eyes of two independent journalists, Samira Mohiyeddin and Christopher Curtis, co-founder of The Rover, who have been reporting from within the encampments. As the concentration of media ownership in Canada tightens, small, local outlets often struggle to compete against corporate giants. When those outlets close down, people can lose touch with their communities and the news that really matters to them. That's why local journalists across Canada are banding together to form "Unrigged DOT ca", a brand-new news collective. Christopher Curtis used to work for the Montreal Gazette, but he was drawn to local coverage and launched his publication called The Rover a few years ago. It will now be part of the new collective, along with a dozen others, including Newfoundland and Labrador's "Independent." The CBC's Leigh Anne Power reached Christopher Curtis in Montreal.

As the floodgates on Canada's legal cannabis market are set to open this fall, Mohawks on the Kahnawake territory near Montreal say they don't plan on submitting to outside regulation. On this episode Dave is joined by Montreal Gazette reporter Christopher Curtis to discuss how the First Nation will implement its plan.
