With the astuteness of Adm. Akbar, this crew sussed our traps and even declared that the goal of TRWS was to deceive! The audacity...am I right?! Everyone knows the purpose of the podcast is to create community in the most entertaining way we can. To that end, we think you'll enjoy this episode bringing together two wine importers (Kristen and Jon) and one savvy consumer (Steve), and which features the bonus stylings of guest co-host Chris Hunter. The conversation got a little raucous at times, but it's solidly entertaining and covers topics from wine trinkets, to how pinot nero is wildly underrated, to how stuffing girls in her trunk landed Kristen a job. Good listening, and here in time for that trip to Grandma's house for Easter. Enjoy!
Schenectady's Museum of Innovation and Science (miSci) received the 2025 New York State Autism Action Award for leadership in accessibility and inclusion. Chris Hunter, President of miSci, spoke with Richard Sleeper and Jacob Boston for Hudson Mohawk Magazine.
On matters including the so-called "Sijourney" Weaver, the Alsatian hotness of Jintaro Yura, and the mystical depths of Georgian amber wine, Episode 3 delivers with extreme "listen-ability" and interest. It's a great, comfortable conversation showcasing both experience and the unique zeitgeist of the Detroit wine scene. If you can appreciate what King Books is and represents, you'll love this episode! The panel features veteran guests Chris Hunter of VinoVolo DTW, and Catherine Kurth of Woodberry Wines, and the man behind the deep-diving Detroit wine scene Instagram account VinoInDetroit, Jarett Coy. It's rare for a single independent consumer brand to generate $100 million in annual revenue. Chris Hunter has built two of them. Hunter is the co-founder and CEO of plant-based beverage company Koia, a maker of refrigerated vegan protein shakes and smoothies that are sold nationwide at retailers including Whole Foods, 7-Eleven, Sprouts, Publix, Kroger and Safeway. Last month, Koia added another major retail partner: Starbucks. The brand's Vanilla Bean and Cacao Bean protein shakes are now available in the coffee chain's coveted cold cases. The addition of Starbucks adds approximately 9,000 stores to the brand's existing presence in more than 25,000 retail doors. Having crossed the $100 million threshold this year, Koia is on “a clear path to $200 million” in annual sales over the next two years, according to company president Mike Woolard. Hunter, who co-founded Koia in 2016 and also co-created and helmed controversial malternative brand Four Loko, is quick to praise his team for Koia's growth trajectory and highlighted its ability to navigate a rapidly evolving industry. In this episode, Hunter spoke about the importance of setting goals in both his personal life and in business, lessons from an aggressive retail strategy early into the brand's development, why self-manufacturing is key to profitability and the company's future, and how to optimize the roles of celebrity partners. Show notes: 0:43: Interview: Chris Hunter, Co-Founder/CEO, Koia – Hunter spoke with Taste Radio editor Ray Latif about why Koia's distribution at Starbucks is an example of perseverance paying off, how setting specific goals has benefited his personal life and why he was eager to expand distribution of Koia beyond the natural channel. He also spoke about the company's first month of profitability, why Koia shifted to a vertically integrated business model and how trends fit into its innovation strategy and the development of a new cereal-inspired line. Brands in this episode: Koia, Four Loko
Romhányi Áron: A Jazz Zongora Mestere New Yorkban! Üdvözöllek Romhányi Áron, a zenei kreativitás és a jazz zongorázás mestere világában! Hadd mutassam be nektek a Loop Doctors egyik alapítójaként, aki a modern zenei stílusok határait feszegeti és egyedülálló hangzást teremt a zenében. A Loop Doctors ötlete 2005-ben született, amikor Áron és zenekarának másik alapító tagja, Szendőfi Péter (dobok) Gary Willis-szel beszélgetett a modern zenei stílusokról Péter szólóalbumának felvételei közben.
