Jonas Nelson grew up in the streets of Hartford, CT, surrounded by poverty and pain. With his father behind bars and no clear path forward, he dropped out of school at 16 and turned to the drug game — making $5,000 a week selling crack. But that fast money came with a price. At just 20 years old, Jonas was caught in a sweeping federal RICO case and sentenced to 60 months in federal prison. In this interview, he shares what life was really like on the streets, how the feds built their case, and what prison was like for him. #PrisonStory #FederalPrison #StreetLife #HartfordCT #RICOCase #DrugGame #RedemptionStory #LockedInPodcast Hosted, Executive Produced & Edited By Ian Bick: https://www.instagram.com/ian_bick/?hl=en https://ianbick.com/ Get 50% off the Magic Mind offer here: https://www.magicmind.com/IANB50. #magicmind #mentalwealth #mentalperformance Presented by Tyson 2.0 & Wooooo Energy: https://tyson20.com/ https://woooooenergy.com/ Buy Merch: http://www.ianbick.com/shop Timestamps: 00:00:00 Street Dreams and Federal Nightmares: The Jonas Nelson Story 00:05:38 Discovering Personal Faith and Beliefs 00:11:57 Life Lessons from a Protective Mother 00:18:02 Reflections on Selling Drugs and Street Life 00:24:29 First Encounter with Federal Agents 00:30:27 Undercover Surveillance and Phone Tapping 00:36:24 Arrest Over Alleged Car Theft 00:42:28 Navigating Legal Challenges: Probation Violation and Safety Valve 00:48:33 Arrival and First Impressions in Prison 00:54:29 Incarceration Experiences and Challenges 01:02:48 Preparing for Life After Prison 01:06:30 Meeting Mobb Deep: A Connection from Prison 01:12:26 Building Lasting Connections in Prison 01:18:37 Guiding Kids Away from Bad Choices 01:24:45 Teen Entrepreneurial Journey 01:32:55 Reflections on Past Mistakes and Financial Growth 01:37:00 Future Music Releases and Projects Powered by: Just Media House : https://www.justmediahouse.com/ Creative direction, design, assets, support by FWRD: https://www.fwrd.co Learn more about your ad choices. Mandrell Knight spent more years of his life incarcerated than free. Now, he's rewriting his story to prove his past doesn't define his future.
This is a first for me - a part 2. If you haven't heard my first interview with Riordan Maynard, the businessman who got sent to maximum security prison in the US for 6 years, go back and listen now! The reaction from that first episode was astonishing so we simply had to get him back in to answer all those burning questions you all had sent in…We talk about the lasting impact of prison on his confidence, his identity, and most of all, his family. And of course, dive into the ins and outs of what prison in the states is really like.We cover:• The PTSD he now lives with after leaving jail• The unexpected friendships (and business offers) he made in prison (including an offer to be the European Cocaine King!!)• Mental resilience he developed inside• The impact of his time away on his kids and wife• How he's rebuilding his life nowThis is a conversation about second chances and what it really takes to rebuild your life after everything has fallen apart. I admire Riordan's honesty and sheer resilience more than ever - and I think you'll understand why.If you're interested in finding out more about Riordan's work, you can head to https://www.mindfort.co/If you enjoyed the show, you can also follow usInstagram - www.instagram.com/greatcompanypodcastTikTok - www.tiktok.com/@greatcompanypodcastAnd if you've got thoughts, questions and comments, you can email us at greatcompany@jampotproductions.co.uk--THE CREDITSExec Producer: Jemima RathboneProducer: Helen BurkeEditor: Dan KingAssistant Producer: Emily D'SouzaVideo: Jake JiSocial Media: Laura CoughlanGreat Company is an original podcast from JamPot Hosted on Acast. In this episode Jules chats to another Jules (not confusing at all!), who is very close to becoming a qualified Solicitor. Jules is planning on supporting and being an advocate for people going through the criminal justice system. Having served a community order herself, Jules has experience with the CJS and knows the impact having a criminal record can have on your career and on your self-worth. Jules also talks about her difficult upbringing in Africa, and the culture shocks she found when moving to the UK. With a lot of support from some incredible organisations listed below, and with a huge amount of determination and will power, Jules is well on track to achieving her childhood ambition. Step aside Law & Order - this is the real story. In this episode of WATG?, we sit down with Michael Dowd, the notorious former NYPD officer at the center of the jaw-dropping documentary The Seven Five. From shaking down drug dealers to ending up on Joe Rogan's couch (after serving 13 years in federal prison), Dowd holds nothing back. It's a gritty, hilarious, and brutally honest ride through greed, corruption, redemption, and regret - all delivered with that unmistakable New York sarcasm that says, “Don't worry, kid, we'll show you where the Empire State Building is, but we're judging you the whole time.”Expect wild stories about pocketing coke, losing his badge, pissing off Joe Rogan, and almost getting punked by a New York Times therapist. This episode dives deep into the fine art of racketeering, dirty money, and the blurry line between good cop and bad guy - all told by the guy who lived it.

In this episode Jules speaks to 20-year-old Kerry, who's only been out of prison a month at the time of recording. They chat about how losing a friend in the Grenfell Tower fire at the age of 13 had a massive impact on Kerry, who later became expelled from school, and at the age of 17 received a 5 year prison sentence. For Kerry, being recalled back to prison after being released half way through her sentence was a big wake up call, and changed her outlook on moving forwards.
