Once again-- this episode is even more filthy than normal, because Kevin Smith. It's mostly just the Andy and Melissa show until BAM a wild JB and Mark appear at the very end. So much wrong with this movie. Mark likes Clerks 2 more than Clerks? Name 5 Soul Asylum songs. Sweet Relief: A Benefit for Victoria Williams is the name of the album. Next up we finish off Clerks with the third (and final?) entry. And Mark and JB will announce their birthday movies! --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/kissyourfranchisegoodbye/message

The new season of the Ten Point Podcast is within arms reach, which means it's time for the episode you've secretly been looking forward to the most! PUBLIC VERSION. For THE MOVIE CRYPT's special 500th episode Adam, Joe, and Arwen sit down with one of their biggest cinematic heroes and a true icon of independent filmmaking… the great Kevin Smith (CLERKS 1-3, MALLRATS, DOGMA, CHASING AMY, RED STATE, TUSK, JAY AND SILENT BOB STRIKE BACK)! From an in-depth discussion about the changing landscape of theatrical film distribution and the joys of touring with a movie… to how the sound of a happy audience can keep you addicted to filmmaking no matter how painful and heartbreaking the process can be at times… to the importance of making the films you want to see as opposed to the films that you think might sell… to how Kevin defined his unique storytelling voice and created his own “View-Askew” universe… to turning what used to be known as “easter eggs” into “bread crumbs”… to the pros and cons of taking swings outside of whatever genre you may have first arrived in or be best known for working in… to Kevin's philosophy that audiences who are yearning for something real and honest will forgive obvious budget limitations as long as they can feel that the movie they're watching was made from the heart… to the importance of being both master of your cinematic ship and servant to your audience… to always putting on a great show for the people who showed up and not worrying about the people who didn't… to how Kevin recovered from Hollywood disillusionment and a near life ending heart attack… there are few artists who embody THE MOVIE CRYPT's “never give up” mantra as perfectly as Kevin Smith who (even after 30 years in the business) continues to believe that movies can save the world. Prepare to learn, to laugh, and to cry with this beautiful and highly inspirational conversation that was 500 weeks in the making. To our beloved Patrons who support this weekly podcast and who we in turn have continued to work so hard for week after week for the last decade- we share this amazing milestone with YOU. Thank you for 500 episodes! We have no doubt that you're going to enjoy the hell out of the 2nd hour of this fantastic conversation! - AG, JL, & A

Ronnie Adams and Mark Radulich present their Kevin Smiths Clerks Trilogy Review. Clerks is a 1994 American black-and-white buddy comedy film written and directed by Kevin Smith (in his feature directorial debut), produced and edited by Smith and Scott Mosier, and starring Brian O'Halloran, Jeff Anderson, Marilyn Ghigliotti, Lisa Spoonhauer, Jason Mewes, Smith, and Mosier. It presents a day in the lives of store clerks Dante Hicks (O'Halloran) and Randal Graves (Anderson) as well as their acquaintances. It is the first of Smith's View Askewniverse films, and introduces several recurring characters, notably Jay and Silent Bob (Mewes and Smith respectively). It is often regarded as a cult classic and a landmark in independent filmmaking. In 2019, the film was selected for preservation in the United States National Film Registry by the Library of Congress as being "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant". The live-action, feature film sequel to Clerks was released on July 21, 2006. The working title was The Passion of the Clerks, though the film was released under the title Clerks II. The credits for Dogma stated "Jay and Silent Bob will return in Clerks 2: Hardly Clerkin' "; however, that project "evolved" into Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back. The sequel features Jeff Anderson and Brian O'Halloran reprising their roles as Dante Hicks and Randal Graves. The two now work at a Mooby's restaurant after the latter's incompetence resulted in the destruction of the Quick Stop and RST Video. Clerks III is a 2022 American comedy film written, produced, directed, and edited by Kevin Smith and stars Brian O'Halloran, Jeff Anderson, Trevor Fehrman, Austin Zajur, Jason Mewes, Rosario Dawson, and Smith. It serves as a standalone sequel to the 1994 and 2006 Clerks films, and is the ninth overall feature film set in the View Askewniverse. In the film, Randal Graves, who after surviving a massive heart attack, enlists his friends and fellow clerks Dante Hicks, Elias Grover, and Jay and Silent Bob to make a movie about their lives at the Quick Stop Convenience store that started it all. On this show, our specialty is sequels, sequels, and more sequels. From the good ones, to the bad ones, to the really ugly ones, we'll be covering them all! We've got homicidal maniacs that won't stay in the grave, sci-fi epics whose stories cannot be told in a single tale, and much much more. For our 13th episode, we have chosen our first comedy and one the funniest slacker sequels ever with the 2006 "CLERKS 2" directed by Kevin Smith. This follow up to the 1994 original debut from Smith greets our anti-heroes Randall and Dante staring down the barrel of mid-life crises. Join hosts Cameron Scott and friend/author Aaron Paschke on a trip back memory land that just goes to show that with no power comes no responsibility. This particular episode is special in Cinema Degeneration's line up for two reasons. One being that it is our penultimate 100th EPISODE!!! And the second reason is that it is dedicated to a late but great friend of the show John "Jay" Bobor who passed away nearly 10 years ago. Hosts Mat Bradley-Tschirgi and Thrasher discuss Clerks II. Desperate for work, Dante and Randall start to flip burgers for Mooby's and wonder what went wrong with their lives. Kevin Smith returns to his roots with Clerks II. Featuring a mixture of crude humor and soap opera confessions, Clerks II has Smith on surer footing than the reviled Jersey Girl. Rosario Dawson brings a lot to the cast as the romantic interest. Things meander a bit towards the ending, but the ending is sentimental in a way that works. Colors are saturated to an almost cartoonish level here that matches the goofier animal themed fast food setting.
