Tune in here to this Wednesday's edition of the Brett Winterble Show! Brett kicks off the program by talking about Donald Trump’s fiery critique of Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell and a wild budget overrun on the Fed’s renovation project. Trump, according to Brett, roasted Powell for allegedly trying to install a basement in the building near the Potomac River—a move Trump mocked as impractical and absurd due to flood risk. Brett highlights Trump's background as a builder, contrasting him with figures like Gavin Newsom, and praises his no-nonsense approach. We’re joined by Bruce LeVell from Atlanta to talk about the progress of the Trump administration’s first 200 days and the wide-ranging impact of the "big beautiful bill." A former Trump advisor and small business owner, LeVell emphasized the administration’s push to restore safety and security across American cities—starting with Washington, D.C.—as a foundation for economic development. He praised the return of tax cuts, lower FICA rates, and pro-growth policies that are benefiting small businesses and boosting prosperity in cities like Charlotte and Atlanta. We’re also joined by Jeremy Holmesley from Liberty Mountain Drama to discuss the upcoming season of the powerful Revolutionary War production and its growing impact on education and community engagement. As Director of the production, Holmesley highlights the immersive, action-packed experience that brings the Battle of Kings Mountain to life, all while aligning with school curriculum standards. Now in its 10th year, Liberty Mountain has expanded its educational outreach by offering shortened weekday performances for student field trips—complete with live musket demonstrations and actor Q&As. Holmesley emphasizes the value of connecting students emotionally to history, transforming names and dates into real, relatable people. Tune in here to this Wednesday edition of the Brett Winterble Show! Brett kicks off the show by talking about what President Trump has accomplished since his administration began, breaking down the good versus the bad. President Trump’s wins far outweigh his losses; his handling of the 12-day war in the Middle East, ceasefires, tariffs, deportations, and the Big Beautiful Bill. The focus on the Epstein files is misguided; we must not become bogged down in the weeds, but we must focus on the pathway forward. We're joined by Breaking Brett Jensen to talk about a chaotic day at the Mecklenburg County Board of Elections and the early moments of the 2025 Charlotte mayoral race. Brett recapped the calm filing of current Mayor Vi Lyles, who is running for a fifth term, addressing major city issues including recent uptown violence and council dysfunction. Then came Tiawana Brown’s electrifying and unconventional entrance, complete with livestreaming, chants, and a rally-like atmosphere. Brown criticized the media’s use of unflattering photos, declared she wouldn't speak to reporters—then did—and capped the event with a memorable reference to her designer “red bottoms.” The contrast between the two filings was stark, showcasing both the traditional and unpredictable sides of Charlotte politics. We're joined by Steve Favre and Deacon Darren from St. Matthew Catholic Church to talk about the 23rd anniversary of the Monsignor McSweeney World Hunger Drive and the urgent need to support families facing hunger around the world. This life-changing initiative began 23 years ago with a single shipment to Haiti and has since grown to deliver over 4.5 million pounds of food and supplies globally. With Haiti in crisis and shipping routes blocked, this year’s efforts will shift to Cuba, while funds continue to support Haitian communities through local sourcing. The mission has expanded beyond food, emphasizing education and sustainability projects like gardens, tilapia farms, and chicken coops. With rising costs and limited access, the drive’s goal is $400,000, with 100% going directly to those in need. To get involved or donate, visit StMatthewCatholic.org/worldhungerdrive and help make a difference in lives both near and far. Finally We're joined by Coach Matt Doherty to talk about leadership, political transparency, and the challenges facing public figures in today’s media landscape. Coach Doherty weighed in on the swirling controversy surrounding former President Trump and the ongoing speculation about Jeffrey Epstein’s alleged connections. He emphasized the importance of clear messaging and controlling the narrative, suggesting that Trump’s team may need to admit there’s no "smoking gun" and move on to more pressing matters like economic and technological initiatives. Coach also commented on Congressman Adam Schiff’s residency scandal, pointing out the contradiction of claiming two primary residences—something he called both misleading and politically damaging. With his background in leadership and team dynamics, Coach Doherty brings a unique perspective to the political arena, highlighting the parallels between sports strategy and public accountability. Tune in here to this Wednesday's edition of the Brett Winterble Show! Brett kicks off the program by talking about the deep divisions in the country and the personal power each individual holds over their mindset. He urges listeners to rise above the chaos, political strife, and media-fed negativity by embracing an unshakable inner confidence and joy. Drawing inspiration from Stoic philosopher Epictetus and biblical teachings, Brett emphasizes that while we cannot control the external world, we can choose how we respond to it. He calls on his audience to reject fear and despair and instead live with courage, purpose, and good cheer. Stressing that life is finite, Brett argues that we should not waste it worrying about inevitable conflict or the unknown future. Instead, he encourages cultivating joy as an act of strength and defiance in a world consumed by division. The message is clear: own your mindset, live fully, and be a light in troubled times. Brett and Coach dive into what they see as a troubling lack of leadership from state officials, raising questions about whether political motives are allowing chaos to fester. Coach Doherty highlights concerns about sanctuary policies, the role of illegal immigration in the labor force, and the broader cultural shift away from accountability. We’re joined by Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Whatley for an in-depth discussion on key issues facing the country. Chairman Whatley reacts strongly to what he describes as failed leadership in California, criticizing Governor Gavin Newsom and other Democrats for prioritizing political agendas over public safety. He points to President Biden’s border policies and California’s sanctuary stance as contributing factors to growing unrest. Shifting to a more optimistic note, Brett and Chairman Whatley discuss the progress of the “big, beautiful bill,” aimed at cutting taxes and providing relief for working Americans. They also touch on encouraging economic indicators and President Trump’s international trade negotiations, including new deals with China, the U.K., and India. We're joined by Coach Matt Doherty from Doherty Coaching to talk about President Trump's battle with Harvard regarding their support, or at least indifference, to groups of pro-Hamas protestors shaming Jewish students and even going so far as to assault them in some cases. It is also important to note that Harvard brings in Chinese students in large numbers, some of whom likely have ulterior motives. China isn't a free country like America; students from China can only come to America for college if they receive the go-ahead from the CCP. The pair then turns to "Fake" Jake Tapper's sudden enlightenment to former President Joe Biden's sharp mental decline. However, “referees” in the form of judges can interfere, blocking progress through rulings and legal obstacles. Coach Doherty emphasizes the importance of surrounding a leader with truth-tellers and capable advisors, and ultimately gives Trump high marks for his effort and focus. Doherty shares insights into how Donald Trump assembled his team, emphasizing the importance of giving clear missions, empowering decision-makers, and conducting post-action debriefs—principles rooted in both sports and military practice. Brett also shares a clip from White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt demolishing the Democrats; they sat in silence as President Trump acknowledged a 13-year-old child who had a brain tumor but rose to cheer when the topic of the Ukraine war came up. These people only support causes that line their pockets and increase their power. We're joined by Coach Matt Doherty from Doherty Coaching to talk about President Trump's speech last night and what makes him a great leader. Bo Thompson from Good Morning BT is also here for this Wednesday's episode of Crossing the Streams. Brett and Bo talk about music and what Bo has cooking for tomorrow on Good Morning BT. Tune in here to this Wednesday edition of the Brett Winterble Show! We're joined by Coach Matt Doherty from Doherty Coaching to talk about all the things, from President Biden's farewell speech tonight to peace breaking out in the Middle East and the cold front heading in next week. Coach Doherty takes us back to the basics, "if you can't pass, dribble, and shoot, it's hard to play basketball," the same goes for politics. "It's a dance," Doherty said, in regard to President-elect Trump accomplishing his campaign promises while also making the left feel included and represented. President-elect Trump must assemble a team of loyalists, not "yes men," but people dedicated to the bigger picture. Later, the duo discusses what's going on with the Tar Heels following their slow start to the season. They also discuss Pete Hegseth's confirmation hearing and the things that were said about him. Despite it all, we must take into account that Hegseth is a combat veteran who signed a blank check to the American people.
