As a teenager, he drank sporadically, sometimes just once a week, other times six or seven in a night, but never considered it a problem. That changed in his 40s during COVID. Joe and his wife, Heather, drank more, made poor dietary choices, and formed unhealthy habits to cope with the pandemic. Eventually, their health metrics indicated a change was needed. One hungover day, they pledged to stop drinking for 75 days. Initially tough, Joe's cravings gradually subsided. Some nights, though, he still craved a beer, leading him to non-alcoholic options that satisfied him. As the world reopened, Joe and Heather struggled to maintain their new habits in social settings dominated by alcohol. They enjoyed bars but missed non-alcoholic options. This sparked the idea of Go Brewing: non-alcoholic and low-alcohol beer with a taproom featuring great music and entertainment. In less than 18 months, Joe and Heather built an incredible team, created numerous recipes, and collaborated with top brewers and consultants. Now, they've opened their doors both online and at their taproom.

Are you scared to appear too “out there” in your branding? Are you worried that standing out will make you appear gimmicky? Are you hiding from your authentic self, afraid you'll turn people off? In trying to appeal to everybody, you'll appeal to nobody. David Rendall, author of The Freak Factor, recommends flaunting flaws instead of denying them in a world where we're trained to “fix” our weaknesses.   KEY TOPICS Being memorable to attract attention and opportunities. Be cautious of unsolicited advice and consider the source before accepting it. Attracting the right audience and repel the wrong audience by being authentic. Pre-deciding, rather than making impulsive choices in the moment.   CHAPTERS 00:00 Mission of Decidedly 00:52 Getting Kicked Out of Class 04:15 Rebellious Qualities 05:59 Introduction of David Rendall 06:29 Standing Out Amongst Competition 10:37 Being Memorable 12:04 Challenging Societal Norms 15:40 Unsolicited Advice 16:03 The Dunning-Kruger Effect 20:12 Balancing Advice 24:59 Highlighting Opportunities 28:18 Navigating Conformity 31:02 Boring Societal Norms 32:02 Standing Out 33:26 Attracting the Right Audience 34:21 Losing to Everybody Else 35:17 Appealing to the Right People 39:24 Finding Your Audience 44:20 Applying Strengths and Weaknesses 56:44 Decision-Making Tip 1:01:49 Key Takeaways 1:03:21 Producer Closing   CONNECT WITH US www.decidedlypodcast.com Watch full episodes on YouTube Join us on Instagram: @decidedlypodcast Join us on Facebook Shawn's Instagram: @shawn_d_smith Sanger's Instagram: @sangersmith   Thank you to Shelby Peterson of Transcend Media for editing and post-production of the Decidedly podcast.   SANGER'S BOOK: A Life Rich with Significance: Transforming Your Wealth to Meaningful Impact   SHAWN'S BOOK: Plateau Jumping: What to Change When Change Is What You Want   MAKING A FINANCIAL DECISION?
