What does it take to transform leadership into a calling — and build a business that transforms others? Today, Peter Winick sits down with Daniel Harkavy, founder and CEO of Building Champions, a pioneer in executive coaching and leadership development. Daniel shares how he turned the lessons from his early career in mortgage banking into a structured, scalable system for growing leaders — and why his success is rooted in helping others unlock their potential. Daniel's approach to thought leadership isn't about pedigree or credentials — it's about proof. He took what worked in one high-performance environment and codified it into frameworks, checklists, and playbooks that any leader could use to create lasting impact. From Becoming a Coaching Leader to Building Champions' current programs, Daniel's work continues to shape how organizations coach, communicate, and cultivate leadership at every level. The conversation dives deep into what it means to scale a mission-driven business without losing its soul. Daniel opens up about the "near-death" moments that almost derailed his company — from failed partnerships to market crashes — and the resilience it takes to rebuild stronger each time. His story is a masterclass in balancing faith, strategy, and discipline in pursuit of a greater purpose. Peter and Daniel also explore how AI is reshaping the future of leadership and coaching. Daniel sees it not as a threat but as a copilot — a tool that, when mastered, can amplify human insight, accelerate problem-solving, and deepen relationships. His message is clear: technology can enhance thought leadership, but it can't replace the leader. Three Key Takeaways: • Codify What Works: Turning personal insight into repeatable frameworks allows leaders to scale their impact, build stronger teams, and create lasting organizational value. • Lead with Purpose and Resilience: Sustainable success comes from aligning business strategy with personal values and staying adaptable through inevitable market and operational challenges. • Leverage AI as a Copilot, Not a Replacement: The future of leadership depends on mastering technology to enhance human insight, accelerate decisions, and deepen relationships — without losing the human touch that defines great leadership. If Daniel's episode inspired you to think differently about leadership systems, purpose, and resilience, you'll want to listen next to "Becoming Resilient Through Thought Leadership" featuring James Harold Webb. Both conversations explore how true leaders turn adversity into an advantage — Daniel through codifying leadership frameworks and James through channeling personal reinvention into influence and impact. Together, they reveal the blueprint for thriving in uncertainty: build systems that scale, lead with purpose, and use your story as fuel for growth. Listen to both and discover how resilience isn't just about bouncing back — it's about building forward with clarity, structure, and intention.

Tribute podcast to the legendary coach John Wooden. In the spirit of studying the Masters... this podcast is both a tribute and a structure for coaching excellence in both sport and business. John Robert Wooden was an American basketball coach and player. Nicknamed "the Wizard of Westwood", he won ten National Collegiate Athletic Association national championships in a 12-year period as head coach for the UCLA Bruins, including a record seven in a row. Song Title: “The Pyramid of Success” (Inspired by John Wooden's Philosophy of Coaching) Verse 1 He never talked of winning, never chased the fame, But his teams lit the fire, and they changed the game. Ten banners hanging, but he'd always say, “It's giving your best that will show you the way.” Not the score, not the crowd, not the glory above, But the work, and the trust, and the game played with love. Chorus Build your life like a pyramid, brick by brick, Hard work and heart, that's the magic trick. Friendship and loyalty, spirit that won't rest, If you've done your very best, you've already passed the test. It's not about winning, but how you give your all, Stand tall, be true, and you'll never fall. Verse 2 Industrious hands, and a fire in your soul, Enthusiasm lifts you, and makes the dream whole. With self-control steady, and eyes wide awake, Alert to each moment, each choice that you make. Initiative calls — don't wait, take the shot, Intentness will carry you through what you're not. Verse 3 (New Verse – Wooden's Motto & Definition) “Make each day your masterpiece,” the coach would say, “Success is peace of mind you find along the way. It's knowing deep inside, when the game is through, You became the best that you're capable to.” Not chasing applause, not fear of defeat, But the quiet pride of a job complete. Bridge Condition your mind, your body, your heart, Skill is the art where mastery starts. Team spirit's the soul — we all rise as one, When the battle gets tough, that's where greatness is won. Poise under pressure, and confidence deep, Competitive greatness — that's the climb you keep. Final Chorus Build your life like a pyramid, brick by brick, With faith and with grit, you'll make each moment stick. It's not about trophies, but the life that you live, The lessons you learn, the love that you give. Coach Wooden knew the truth, and he taught it well: Your best is the story that only you can tell. Outro So here's to the coach who showed us the way, That the score means nothing if your heart didn't play. Live with courage, with kindness, with success in your chest, For the only true victory… is giving your best.

Send us a textWhen DJ Jacobucci resigned from his firefighting career and dumped his pension into opening Upgraded Industries, it wasn't just a business decision—it was a leap of faith into a lifelong passion. "That's betting on yourself," he explains on the Ride Home Rants podcast. "That's either saying I'm going to be poor or this is going to work."This all-or-nothing mentality has shaped Upgraded Industries into what DJ lovingly describes as a "dysfunctional family that you can't help but love." Starting as a personal trainer while navigating a difficult divorce, DJ gradually built his business until he could focus on his true passion—combat sports. With a background as a wrestler and fighter himself, he's created a training environment where accountability and self-motivation are non-negotiable. "I don't hold hands," he states plainly, reflecting his belief that fighters must develop discipline alongside technique. The gym's success speaks for itself, producing fighters like Tony "The Latin Assassin" and attracting talented coaches who share DJ's vision. What began as Sunday wrestling sessions with whoever would show up has evolved into an elite training facility that stays true to old-school toughness while adapting to modern training methods. Between training professional fighters, raising his identical twin sons who wrestle competitively, and managing all aspects of the business, DJ embodies the fighter's mentality in everything he does.Throughout the conversation, DJ offers candid insights on the state of combat sports, expressing concern that UFC might follow boxing's self-destructive path, while sharing stories of the tight-knit community he's built at Upgraded Industries. Whether you're a fighting enthusiast or simply appreciate stories of entrepreneurs betting on their passion, DJ's journey from firefighter to gym owner demonstrates what's possible when you commit fully to building something meaningful around what you love.• Betting everything on his dream by resigning from firefighting and investing his pension into the gym• Balancing fatherhood with running the gym, prioritizing family while maintaining high standards for his figSubscribe for exclusive content: https://www.buzzsprout.com/1530455/support Buzzsprout - Let's get your podcast launched!Start for FREETactical BrotherhoodThe Tactical Brotherhood is a movement to support America.Deemed FitBe a part of our movement to instill confidence motivation and a willingness to keep pushing forwardBuddy's Beard CareBuddy's Beard Care provides premium men's grooming products at an affordable price.Sweet Hands SportsElevate your game with Sweet Hands Sports! Daniel Harkavy is the Founder and CEO of Building Champions and SetPath. Building Champions is an executive coaching and leadership development firm focused on helping leaders achieve success in business and life. SetPath is a community benefit nonprofit that helps young adults discover their true potential through life planning and mentoring. What I learned from my conversation with Daniel:When they see you as husband or wife, do they see the Divininess of God? Treating your bride to be more radiant because she has felt the reality of Christ in you. Planning your life with the mindset of a steward based on your unique role will help you be less anxious. When hiring a coach, you need to find one who listens well, who has the gift of exhortation, who has a toolkit, self-leadership, and why your coach does not need to know your industry to serve you. Surround yourself with many smart people who bring ou the best in you and those around you. You need a thinking partner who is not biased in your organization. The more time in the coach's chair the more valuable you become to businesses and organizations because you begin to have a front seat into the nuances of various industries. The pursuit of becoming a man, a leader, a husband is the journey of becoming more like Christ. It is good to ask for help. It is good to acknowledge that you have fears and insecurities. --To start working with Lantz Howard as your professional coach, get started by taking the leadership health assessment at www.lantzhoward.com--Did this conversation impact you?Share the love.
