The album won the Grammy for Album of the Year and solidified her status as a cultural powerhouse, delivering anthem after anthem with sharp lyricism and polished production. In this episode, we explore the evolution of Taylor’s sound, the stories behind her biggest hits, and how 1989 shaped the modern pop landscape. Whether you were dancing to it back in 2014 or discovering it on vinyl for the first time, 1989 remains a high point in Taylor’s discography—and a defining moment in pop music history. A decade ago Taylor Swift released 1989, a career changing and defining album. It marked her definitive shift from country to pop, served as a rebirth for her celebrity persona, and crafted an incredibly thought out narrative from start to finish. Even ten years later, this is the album that the general public most recognise Taylor for, with hits like Shake it Off, Bad Blood, and Blank Space being unescapable staples of pop culture. A year ago Taylor reclaimed her fifth studio album with the release of 1989 (Taylor's Version) which, against all odds, outdid the original version's opening week sales, reaffirming not only the popularity of 1989, but it's rightful place as one of the most awarded and critically acclaimed pop albums in history.
The Lazy Girl's Guide to Podcasting: A Podcast about Podcasting and Podcasting Tips
Pitching to be a guest on someone else's podcast can often seem as a daunting task. But when Sarah Hopkinson from CopyHop contacted me to pitch to be a guest, I was blown away by her email. It was specific, to the point, and told me exactly how she'd fit with my podcast and you as the podcast audience. So, in this episode, I chat to Sarah all about how she crafted her pitch. She shares her framework for crafting a personalised email to podcast hosts that will make your request stand out from all of the others. Her podcasting tips for pitching to guest on other people's podcasts are not to be missed. And as promised, below is the EXACT pitch email that Sarah sent to me to pitch herself to guest on The Lazy Girl's Guide to Podcasting.Timestamps:00:00:00 Intro00:01:15 Crafting a Personalized Email Pitch to Be a Podcast Guest00:03:09 Effective Podcast Pitching Strategies00:07:40 How to Write a Compelling Pitch Email to Be a Podcast Guest00:13:43 Tips for Following Up on Podcast Pitches00:21:12 Turning Podcast Episodes Into EmailsSarah's pitch email:Hi Verity, As an inherently Lazy Girl, I was so happy when I discovered your podcast at the end of last year! As you say yourself, your episodes are really binge-able and I've been enjoying listening to them, especially your Taylor Swift/podcasting mash-up ep (oh my god, I'd LOVE it if she did her own podcast!!). There are a lot of voices in podcasting and podcasting advice, but yours is one of the most insightful and fun.I am emailing you for a reason: I know that 2024 is your year of email so I was wondering if you'd be open to me guesting on The Lazy Girl's Guide to Podcasting to talk a little about the opportunities for podcasters who master email marketing? I also work in the podcasting industry, helping podcasters to grow their show and their influence through strategically remarketing their content. Last year, I gave a seminar to a group of podcasters about how to run a great email list for their podcast with less effort, touching on why email is a great medium to connect with subscribers, how to use AI to repurpose podcast episodes whilst maintaining content quality and the different kinds of emails to send to your podcast list. It was a great success and it encouraged those podcasters to start or keep going with their email list without putting as much work into it.I'd love to discuss all or some of the above on your podcast and if you'd like to have me as a guest, I'd be delighted to promote your episode far and wide. However, I appreciate that you know your audience best so I'll leave it up to you to think about :)Hope that the sun is shining on you in Jersey and that the Taylor Swift n*des scandal didn't leave a Blank Space in your episode download numbers!Have a great day!~Sarah at CopyHop~ Sarah's email series: https://crafty-hustler-1231.ck.page/9cd9d402eaGuest bio:Sarah Hopkinson is a Brit living in the south of France. Taylor Swift knows a thing or two about swerving when her listeners and detractors least expect it, but nothing could prepare anyone for her total abandonment of country music on her 2014 album 1989. Sure, she had teased some Max Martin-assisted pop hits on her previous album Red, but 1989 was a total 180 from the country starlet's past, trading her teardrop-soaked guitar for sassier synths instead. On this week's episode of Rolling Stone's 500 Greatest Songs, hosts Rob Sheffield and Brittany Spanos discuss the crown jewel of the 1989 album, "Blank Space". While lead single "Shake It Off" was an empowering kiss-off to the haters, its follow up was an unexpected satirization of Swift's public image at the time as a "maneater" for her romances with famous men and ensuing songs about their times spent together. Swift fits back against sexist criticism of her writing "too many break-up songs" and her dating habits with this ferociously catchy track that highlights her sense of humor and wit, all while helping break free a bit more from her "girl next door" image. Later in this episode our hosts are joined by their colleague and Rolling Stone Music Now host Brian Hiatt to dig into just how big of a risk her pop pivot had been, as well as explore what makes this song so great and how it shifted Swift's sound and lyricism for the better.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

„Shake it off“ den Streit. It's a Tayvis update: Grammy and Super Bowl Edition! Ever since they went public with their relationship last fall, there's been no stopping the Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce love train. The "Blank Space" singer and the NFL star have showed up to support each other at their day jobs. Taylor's been a fixture at Chiefs games, and Travis even headed to South America to catch one of Taylor's "Eras Tour" concerts. But now, with the Grammys and Super Bowl coming up, everyone's wondering if they'll be able make it to each other's big nights. We're not gonna bet against it!See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
I'm dying to see how this one ends. We talk about satire - what it is, how it's different from parody or hyperbole, how Taylor uses it and why. Jodi starts with the quintessential satirical example from Taylor's catalog - “Blank Space,” Jenn argues that Reputation is actually a satirical album, and Maansi makes a case for satire in “Mastermind.” Find out what witch hunts and chess have to do with it all. We acknowledge that satire is an intellectual form of comedy, which requires us to examine what Taylor is saying in a more nuanced way. Hear our first read interpretations, and then hunker down for the second read interpretations that unravel the threads of satire a bit to get to the heart of what she's trying to say. Follow & Support Jeff - https://linktr.ee/ThisGuyLikesCrimson This was the 125th episode of my podcast, What are We Doing, and I was excited to have my friend Jeff as my first in-person guest in over two years. I started the show by welcoming Jeff and asking him to discuss Taylor Swift. Jeff praised Taylor's music, highlighting songs like Shake It Off and Blank Space. He was curious what kind of music Taylor would make if she got married, since much of her past work centers on relationships. Jeff imagined scenarios if she and Travis eloped or broke up in 2024, joking that either way it would probably inspire amazing new songs. Transitioning topics, Jeff and I shared our goals for 2024. Jeff mentioned trying to get weight loss surgery to improve his health, training to advance his jiu-jitsu skills, and increasing his content creation. I discussed plans to launch one or two new weekly podcasts alongside my current show, with a goal of ramping up my content output this year. Next we reacted to viral TikTok clips, like the video of the doctor instantly doubting the absurd pregnancy craving excuses of the 1000 Pound Sisters. We also watched chaotic drone footage of homeless encampments, joking about the apparent wedding reception and dance party going on. After that, Jeff and I discussed the endless fantasy world of Dungeons and Dragons campaigns, with Jeff explaining how they can last for years with no defined end. I asked him to help me understand the appeal of playing indefinitely with no resolution in sight. Jeff emphasized it's more about enjoying time with friends than the game itself. I quizzed Jeff on pop culture trivia, admitting I was relying entirely on my memory for the answers. Jeff aced easy questions but struggled to name all of Kim and Kanye's kids, only recalling their daughter North West. Neither of us could even remember all of Michael Jackson's children. As we wrapped up, Jeff thanked me for having him on the show and encouraged listeners to keep tuning in. I closed out expressing appreciation for Jeff coming on the podcast and reminding everyone where to find me online. It was a fun, wide-ranging chat showcasing Jeff's humor and our natural chemistry. I was grateful to provide a relaxed platform for him to share his takes on Taylor Swift, jiu-jitsu, viral videos, and more. What is the bottom line? What does it all mean? What is this for?We can ask the same question in many different ways, but at some point, we all want to know...what is life about? This past Sunday, at Storyline's Gathering, we began a new series considering what the ancient Greeks called the "highest good" and what the bible refers to as, "the aim of life." The band performed songs by Tom Petty, Cher, The Eagles, and Stephen Stills.

Turns out NFL announcers read the gossip blogs - or listen to the Showbiz Top 5! And even though everyone is saying N' Sync's reunion for one song is all we're getting, one of the guys is telling us to tap our brakes on that.
