Als Daniel nach Ende unserer letzten Aufnahme ominös flüsterte, er hätte mal wieder Lust auf schwarze Handschuhe, lange Messer und kreischende Opfer in Bella Italia, rannte er damit bei mir natürlich die sprichwörtlichen offenen Türen ein. Sein Wunsch war mir Befehl, und deswegen sprechen wir heute über gleich zwei eiskalte Giallo-Klassiker. Zunächst lassen wir ein Ensemble hübscher Menschen über unsere rhetorischen Klingen springen, und zwar in Duccio Tessaris mörderisch gutem Generemix Blutspur im Park a.k.a. Das Messer (1971). Anschließend begeben wir uns in die verlässlichen, blutbeschmierten Hände von Maestro Dario Argento, der mit Tenebrae – Der kalte Hauch des Todes (Tenebre, 1982) sowas wie den Giallo to end all Gialli inszenierte. Es wird spannend, wild und böse Hunde gibt es obendrauf!

It's all MASTERS OF HORROR on this episode. On this episode we discuss the Dario Argento directed "Jenifer" based on a comic that appears in issue #63 of the famed Creepy Magazine, by Bruce Jones and Bernie Wrightson, teleplay by Steven Weber, who additionally stars. JENIFER :originally broadcast November 18, 2005" While parked in a remote spot, eating lunch with his partner, Detective Frank Spivey saves a disfigured woman named Jenifer from being killed by a deranged homeless man. He feels sorry for Jenifer, and takes her from an insane asylum and brings her home. Frank becomes obsessed with Jenifer, feeling lust and and attraction to her. When he realizes there's more to her, he moves with her to an isolated old cabin in the woods, with tragic consequences. We are officially counting down to our 10th anniversary of the show with an episode landing on August 31st 2023. Marking this milestone and at the behest of you dear dear listeners, we are dropping an episode every day with the theme being my Top 10 Favourite Horror movies of All Time (or at least until I change them again on September 1st 2023). At Number 7 it's time to talk Argento!! It's not his best film, in my humble opinion, but it is my favourite Argento movie. Tenebrae (1982) was Argento's return to Gialli cinema after a stint of supernatural horror movies in Suspiria (1977) & Inferno (1980) and boy did he come out swinging. Part Slasher, part Giallo and part commentary on how the critics had maligned his back catalogue as misogynist. Tenebrae stand up as maybe his more straight forward Giallo but still twisty and turny nonetheless. Join me tomorrow as we take a look at Number 6 on the list.
