Jenny Craig the founder now in her 90's did see the future after all.ABOUT ~ Stephanie Keen I was born in CA and attended CSU Stanislaus in Turlock CA where I attained a bachelor's degree in Liberal Arts and a teaching credential. I moved to Tucson in 2008 after meeting my husband on E-Harmony. We have a 7 yr old son, 3 dogs, and 2 cats. While attending college and after, I began substitute teaching and tutored kids of all ages. Eventually I landed teaching jobs in the K-12 spectrum. Teaching has always been my passion and my current job enhances it in a different perspective. I joined Jenny Craig in 2013 and lost 50 lbs then had a baby and had to lose 40 lbs again. After being successful in my own weight loss journey, my coach asked me if I was interested in working there. In June of 2016 I began working as a JC coach. Then in 2019 I became a center director. I have maintained my weight for 7 years. I absolutely love my job! My teaching background has helped me in my role here with being a coach and trainer to my staff, and watching clients' both physical and mental transformation to a healthy lifestyle is truly rewarding.

Tom Dozier, M.S. Behavior Analysis is the basic science of human behavior. A part of this science involves human reflexes and how we acquire them. Misophonia appears to be a conditioned (acquired) reflex to the trigger sounds. Tom developed Relaxation and Counterconditioning Therapy (RCT) as a treatment for misophonia. This includes muscle relaxation training and the Neural Repatterning Technique based on the concept of counterconditioning of reflexes. Using the Trigger Tamer app or real-life experiences, it can slowly reduce the misophonic reflex. This process actually changes the neurology associated with the misophonic reaction. Tom is also the author of seven peer-reviewed journal articles on misophonia and the book, Understanding and Overcoming Misophonia, 2nd Edition, A Conditioned Aversive Reflex Disorder. Tom received a Master's of Science from California State University, Stanislaus in 2012 in an interdisciplinary program titled, “Behavior Analysis and the Family.” His primary career focus is on parenting and parenting skills (see 3LParenting.com, guaranteedpt.com, or LDSParentCoach.org). Tom became interested in misophonia in 2012 because he worked with parents of children with misophonia. He recognized that the misophonic reaction to trigger sounds was an involuntary reflex behavior. As such, misophonia triggers should respond similarly to other acquired reflexes. Tom saw an opportunity to help individuals suffering with a condition that had no known cure or treatment. Based on the research in acquired reflexes and relevant published journal articles, Tom developed a new misophonia treatment method and has applied this method successfully to individuals, primarily using telehealth video-chat. When the treatment conditions are right, individuals experience a great decrease in the reactions to trigger sounds or even have no reaction (cured) for that trigger. Tom's first career was as a manufacturing engineer. He began his career in parent training in 2003 because of the help he received from Dr. Glenn I. Latham on parenting concerns. Tom received a graduate certificate in applied behavior analysis in 2004. He received a certification of board-certified assistant behavior analyst in 2008. He received his MS in Behavior Analysis from CSU Stanislaus in 2012 and received a certification of board-certified behavior analyst that same year. In 2017 Tom was awarded the Behavior Analyst Mastery Certification: Behavioral Consultation and Clinical Behavior Therapy (BAMC: BCCBT) by the Board of Behavior Analyst Specialties. Tom and his wife have 4 children and 9 grandchildren. So whether you are faced with revitalizing a withered existing program, or planting something brand new, we’ve got the information you need to get started now.   [Subscribe on iTunes] [Subscribe on Android]   Highlight to Tweet: “Keep loving the kids. Be real...build those relationships, and build good music.” -Adam Serpa Show Notes: The need for Middle School Choir Feeder Programs Maybe your current feeder program for your high school is weak Maybe it doesn’t exist Either way, your next steps are the same. Making the case to Administrators in the Community Could you imagine a district that didn’t start math until high school? Choir is like any other subject. Start early is important for mastery. Middle school is when many kids are finding their “niche.” Get stakeholders on board early Doing Reconnaissance Find out what has been done in your district before. Get familiar with your district’s history What worked, what didn’t, what has been tried before? Find out what resources are available. Getting the Green Light/Deciding on a program Format Traditional middle school: chorus as an elective during the school day. Several K-8’s feeding into one high school: one school hosts a zero hour chorus, then students are bussed to their respective schools. You (or another teacher) may have to travel to the different schools to work with the middle school aged students. Even if you can only get to one other school, that’s a start, and will help your high school program. Marketing/Recruitment Use the district’s monthly admin meeting to present your case. Present the options, and ask, “Which way would work best?”. Word of mouth: talk to students, parents...everyone you can. Flyers Hit EVERY back-to-school night REMIND app Visit 5th and 6th grade classrooms in the spring Curriculum-What do you want choir students to know when they get to their freshman year in high school? The benefits after one or two years Performing in the community The students who have had training in middle school are instant leaders in your high school programs Bio: Adam Serpa is the Choir Director at Dublin High School in Dublin, CA in the San Francisco Bay Area. Based on our recent global survey of more than 100 higher ed brand identity redesigns over the past 2 years, Ken Steele counts down the 10 best rebrandings – those that are professional, memorable, balanced and well-designed, AND that didn’t spark a backlash from faculty, students or alumni.   #10: Saint Louis University, Missouri Design firm Olson of Minneapolis created a streamlined new logo using a vastly simplified coat of arms and an “ownable” fleur de lis. The branding system includes specs for consistent iconography, a variety of wallpapers, and a wide range of subbrands – including a new logo for Billken Athletics. This is SLU - https://youtu.be/CYMBLYkEsPQ About SLU’s New Logos - https://youtu.be/oc1tCyzm0_c What is a Billiken? - https://youtu.be/xmaxVk8lakY   #9: Belmont Abbey College, North Carolina Another Catholic college redesigned their steeple-focused identity with the help of Rickabaugh Graphics in Ohio. The result is a dynamic shield emblem with fresher typography and a slightly brighter crimson, and a new mark for Crusaders Athletics.   #8: Augusta University, Georgia In 2012, Augusta State University merged with Georgia Health Sciences to create Georgia Regents University – and then, apparently after a lawsuit from Regents University in Virginia, it changed its name again in 2015 to Augusta University. The new identity features a slick illustration of a colonial belltower (which doesn’t actually exist) that is simultaneously clearly a letter “A”. Augusta University Identity in Depth – https://youtu.be/CIBKWkF9DMY   #7: Stanislaus State University, California It was known by far too many different names: CSU Stanislaus, CSUS, California State Stanislaus, Stanislaus State, Stan State, and even “Turkey Tech.” But with the help of the Jeffrey Scott Agency in Fresno, Stan State unveiled a snazzy new “split shield” logo system in 2015 that standardized its name. Departments and individuals can now choose from “CSU Stanislaus” or “Stanislaus State” logos, and even “Stan State” is officially endorsed for internal audiences.   #6: Maricopa Community Colleges, Arizona The 10 colleges in Maricopa County had startlingly different brand identities, but in 2015 the Maricopa System unveiled “One Maricopa,” a new unifying logo system that would create consistent subbrands for each campus, while retaining their former colours and visuals. It was a masterful effort at compromise… but so far, there’s little sign that the colleges have actually adopted the new branding system.   That’s the first half of our round-up of the world’s top ten recent rebrands. Next time, we’ll complete the countdown with the top five!   Subscribe so you don’t miss it, or check out Top 10 Identity Trends for a review of overall higher ed branding trends in the past 2 years – https://youtu.be/8lD3PUQLBnw
