Mina tårar bara rinner under samtalets gång.Vi talar om känsliga ämnen, att ta avsked, att inte finnas. Lama Chimey förklarar hur hon och Buddhismen ser på döden. Så befriande! Viktigt och jag är så glad att ha träffat Lama Chimey. In this episode, Steve Fretzin and Mina Haque discuss:Overcoming challenges in growing a law practiceThe impact of digital tools on professional successEssential skills lawyers need beyond legal expertiseThe mindset shifts necessary for entrepreneurial success Key Takeaways:Solo law practice has become significantly more accessible due to virtual offices, law practice management software, and online marketing, reducing overhead costs and easing client acquisition.Lawyers should resist the temptation to accept every client and instead focus on a defined practice area to build a strong reputation and avoid operational inefficiencies.Effective delegation, including outsourcing bookkeeping, marketing, and administrative tasks, allows solo practitioners to maximize billable hours and focus on client service.Developing an online presence through SEO, blogging, and thought leadership is crucial for standing out and attracting clients in a competitive legal market. "Show your value to your client. Sometimes it may be outside the scope of the service, but go above and beyond and try to have that servant leadership mindset, because the right client will recognize your talent, and you may find yourself in the right place." — Mina Haque Got a challenge growing your law practice? As I've gotten older, I've realized mindset truly is everything. I spend a lot of time in my courses and programs helping people see things from a different perspective so that they can create change in their lives. I even had one client say, “I would have paid five times as much to see this much change in my life.” I can change the way I look at just about anything if I'm willing to let go of what my ego wants and that's the harder part. Shifting your mindset really is a spiritual journey. There are two sides inside our emotional brain:the connected side, which is where positivity, our ability for clarity, and our sense of confidence are. Our power is all in that connected side. On the other side of the brain is the disconnected side and that's where our fear, guilt, worry, and all of those things that suck our energy are. That's where head trash lives. Renie Cavallari says that the goal of life is to spend as much time as possible on the connected side. And she shares how we can do that in today's episode of The Launch Your Life Podcast. Renie is the CEO of Aspire and RCI Institute and she has been speaking around the globe to groups from 15 to 5000 for over 25 years. Her expertise is in transforming results through people. She is a member of the prestigious National Speakers Association (NSA) and was named an “Outstanding Woman in Business” by Phoenix Business Journal. As a powerhouse business leader, Cavallari helps both small and large organizations achieve breakthrough results by thinking boldly and disrupting the status quo. Tune in today and find out what Head Trash is, how it kills potential, and how to dump it in the moment. S02E13 A Day in the Life of SydWelcome to Season 2 of the UK Educators Community Podcast, where you'll get a sneak peek into Educator's diaries, as Syd asks her guests to run through one of their typical days. This is the final episode of this season, and due to popular demand, Syd will be sharing details of one of her days. Just some of the points raised during this season finale are:Syd is PASSIONATE about disrupting and improving the current education system. She knows many other educators share her thoughts, and identifies that we need to collaborate and pull in the same direction, to cause impact through a movement and create change together.Syd talks about the importance of flexibility. Before the pandemic, her business was all face to face. As with many businesses at the time, it ground to a halt overnight. Her flexibility allowed her to adapt, and create an online model which works brilliantly. When you work for yourself, you don't need to be bound by typical working hours. Syd often works into the wee small hours, because she can be productive and effective at that time. It's important to identify what working practices work best for you, and embrace them.

On this episode, you'll meet Siobhan Simpson, who helps professional Mums raise their child's confidence in maths through online learning through her company, Primrose TuitionYou can see more about Siobhan and her tuition business here: https://www.primrosetuition.co.uk/The conversation on today's episode covers many points, including:Siobhan LOVES working for herself as a tutor. When she worked in a traditional schooling environment, her "to do" list would keep her awake at night! She always felt overstretched in school, but now she's got time to offer her students much more quality support.Siobhan is currently tutoring one to one, but has recently tested out a group teaching programme in KS2 Maths, which was successful. She'll be filtering this model into her business over time.Siobhan's advice to people starting in their education business, is to "keep going and be consistent", as there's always another client "just around the corner". Consistency is also absolutely key in social media marketing. It CAN be tough, but a positive mindset will get you through the testing times.
S02E11 A Day in the Life of An Art and Design Portfolio Educator with Julie Read.Welcome to Season 2 of the UK Educators Community Podcast, where you'll get a sneak peek into Educator's diaries, as Syd asks her guests to run through one of their typical days. On this episode, you'll meet Julie Read, who's an Art Tutor from Edinburgh.Julie works with art students to expand and develop their portfolios, and helps them get into their top university choice. Check out her company "Portfolio Oomph" here: https://www.portfolio-oomph.com/Julie's used to working in colleges, with her day starting at 9am and finishing at 4pm. Since starting her tutoring business, she's had a big shift in mindset. Initially she used to stick to those rigid times, but now allows herself more flexibility in hours, and loves it.Julie encourages risk taking in art, when the piece isn't being assessed for exams. Risks allow creativity to grow and can lead to amazing things. If a risk doesn't pay off, she encourages the student to reflect and develop.Julie encourages her students to use many different tools to express their artistic ideas in the most relevant way. The finished piece may be a painting, a photograph, a video, just about anything!
S02E10 A Day in the Life of A Language Tutor with Chloe-Maired Donnelly.Welcome to Season 2 of the UK Educators Community Podcast, where you'll get a sneak peek into Educator's diaries, as Syd asks her guests to run through one of their typical days. On this episode, you'll meet Chloe-Maired Donnelly; a young tutor who's currently studying at University, and when Covid hit, she started her "dream business", CMD Tutoring.Chloe has ADHD, and when she was at school, the only subjects that held her interest were languages. This is a great chat, where you'll hear Chloe talk about how she manages her ADHD both personally and whilst teaching her students. Syd also has somewhat of a revelation during the conversation. There are plenty of key points, including:Regardless of how tired she's feeling because of a lack of quality sleep, Chloe is ALWAYS energetic and positive with her students: Energy breeds energy!Computer games aren't always bad for you! Chloe was driven by Assassin's Creed to start her languages journey, go to Uni, and start her tutoring business!
S02E09 A Day in the Life of An English Tutor with Gemma Bull.Welcome to Season 2 of the UK Educators Community Podcast, where you'll get a sneak peek into Educator's diaries, as Syd asks her guests to run through one of their typical days. On this episode, you'll meet Gemma Bull and hear about her business, Lion Education.Gemma supports her students to be confident, assertive and resilient, whilst making rapid academic progress. She promises that with her calm and collaborative approach her students will "learn to ROAR" (Like Katy Perry, not a scary Lion having caught a Zebra!)This chat is full of shiny take away points, here's just a handful:The private education model aligns with Gemma's values much closer than traditional schooling. She's been told by Headteachers of the past to ignore students who need emotional support, and concentrate her effort on pushing the ones who are doing well academically. Whether you're a teacher or tutor in any capacity, it's soooo important to be passionate about your subject. The passion is what inspires students, or even co-workersTaking constructive criticism positively is really important, and your action as a result will make you better.
S02E08 A day in the life of A Home Ed English & History Tutor with Yvonne Mason.Welcome to Season 2 of the UK Educators Community Podcast, where you'll get a sneak peek into Educator's diaries, as Syd asks her guests to run through one of their typical days. On this episode, you'll meet the amazing Yvonne Mason.Yvonne was ahead of the curve, and has been offering online tutorial for the past 15 years! She offered both online and face to face, until a move to North Wales in 2016, meant it made practical sense to go totally online. This is a really interesting chat between two well respected educators, with many take away points, including:When families are picking a Home Ed Tutor, they'll always go for one they can TRUST, which grows quickly through referrals from other home ed families. Yvonne talks about the importance of home educated kids having time to socialise. She gives her group classes time to chat before the lesson begins, when her camera and mic are turned off. Teaching in subjects you're passionate about really helps keep material fresh. Yvonne's a historian, and currently running courses in Medieval and Tudor history, and as well as being a MASSIVE "Tolkien geek", she's teaching her first summer school on his works.Collaboration is "exciting". Yvonne often works with other Educators and always learns and builds her skillset during these times, and sometimes she'll have access to new resources she may otherwise not have access to.To find out more about Yvonne's tutoring business, visit: https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100057522306678For full show notes and more details about this and other episodes, please check here: https://ukeducators.com/podcasts/
S02E07 A day in the life of A Maths & Finance Educator with Helen Westwood.Welcome to Season 2 of the UK Educators Community Podcast, where you'll get a sneak peek into Educator's diaries, as Syd asks her guests to run through one of their typical days. On this episode, you'll meet Helen Westwood. After completing her degree, Helen worked in corporate as a Tax Consultant. After a couple of years, (and a meeting with one of her old teachers), Helen was offered a job on the graduate teacher programme at the school she once studied at. She's now spent several years leading finance courses for post-16 year olds.As well as her work with the school, Helen runs her own private tutoring in Maths and Finance. She's VERY BUSY and booked up until 2025!!This is an engaging chat, with many key points, including:Some consider online booking tools, such as Calendly to be a little impersonal. When used well, and at the end of the process they are excellent. You have already built rapport with the client and simply send them a link, where they can book a formal appointment.Time management is essential when you have other commitments. Helen works in large "chunks" of time, so she's always fully present when with family, or students (even if it IS on a Friday night at 8pm!)Helen's soon to be offering very early tutoring sessions. Some families will take their children to swimming lessons, horse riding lessons, etc before school, so early morning pre-school run lessons are soon to be trialled. As mentioned, Helen's booked up until 2025. Every few months, she checks in with her advance bookings to ensure they're still interested. To find out more about Helen's tutoring business, visit: https://helenwestwoodmaths.com/For full show notes and more details about this and other episodes, please check here: https://ukeducators.com/podcasts/To join in the conversation with other educators, here's the Facebook Group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/ukeducators_________________________________________More about Syd.Syd is on a mission to disrupt the Education sector by empowering Education Businesses to think differently, maximising their impact and enabling them to continue doing what they do best – being an awesome Educator! She recognises there are many great educators out there. Her vision is to take her skills global, working with remote schools and training staff to instill growth mindset strategies. S02E06 A day in the life of a Trader turned Tutor with Julia BrandWelcome to Season 2 of the UK Educators Community Podcast, where you'll get a sneak peek into Educator's diaries, as Syd asks her guests to run through one of their typical days. On this episode, you'll meet Julia Brand.Julia came to teaching, after becoming disillusioned with a high powered career in the city as a stocks trader. She spend almost 10 years working in Primary schools, and doing some private tutoring on the side, before phasing out traditional schooling and concentrating on her tutoring business full time. It's a great chat, with many takeaway points, including:Your career needs to align with your personal values. The more mature you become, the clearer this is and more important it becomes. The importance to adapt in business can't be underplayed. For example, any tutoring businesses who didn't go online in 2020 would have had a hard time surviving. Whereas the ones who embraced the change get a chance to thrive.Once you've been tutoring for a long while, preparing for each session isn't always needed. Often students will speak about their concerns and struggles, and the sessions will go in different directions anyway. It's all about being flexible with your plans. As well as the above, there was MUCH EXCITEMENT about the upcoming Retreat for Educators in Marrakesh that the UK Educators Community has organised. S02E05 A day in the life of An English Teacher with Andrea GadsbeyWelcome to Season 2 of the UK Educators Community Podcast, where you'll get a sneak peek into Educator's diaries, as Syd asks her guests to run through one of their typical days. On this episode, you'll meet Andrea Gadsbey.Andrea's a VERY BUSY person! She's a full time English teacher at a school in Manchester, a single mother, and she recently founded Hope Tuition Clinic: https://www.facebook.com/HPEnglishClinic/A lot of things came out of her chat with Syd, including:There is less "joy in schooling" than there used to be, mainly down to the curriculum being very pressurised, with much of the joy of learning being sucked out it.The pandemic has allowed us to take a look at the current system and given us the opportunity to think about how we do education differently and bring it more up to date.Setting up and running you own business is stressful, but because you're in control of all elements it's a different kind of stress, to when you're employed and have no control at all.You can find out more about Hope Tuition Clinic here: https://www.facebook.com/HPEnglishClinic/For full show notes and more details about this and other episodes, please check here: https://ukeducators.com/podcasts/To join in the conversation with other educators, here's the Facebook Group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/ukeducators_________________________________________More about Syd.Syd is on a mission to disrupt the Education sector by empowering Education Businesses to think differently, maximising their impact and enabling them to continue doing what they do best – being an awesome Educator! She recognises there are many great educators out there. S02E04 A day in the life of A Maths & Science Educator with Gemma SpaldingWelcome to Season 2 of the UK Educators Community Podcast, where you'll get a sneak peek into Educator's diaries, as Syd asks her guests to run through one of their typical days. On this episode, you'll meet Gemma SpaldingGemma launched "Spalding's School of Science" in June 2019. Unlike many of the educators Syd's spoken to on these podcasts, Gemma hasn't ever worked in a traditional schooling environment. You'll hear a great conversation between two educators, who's values really align, but their approaches and businesses are quite different. #12: Money Mindset with Rae Richards - Understanding the Archetypes to charge your valueOn this episode, Syd chats with the brilliant Rae Richards.Rae specialises in coaching women on their money mindset, which helps to grow their businesses. Her work often starts with identifying her client's archetype. Whilst Rae's work is generally with women, but her Money Archetypes assessment works the same for all genders. You can take Rae's "Sacred Money Archetype Quiz", and find out more about her awesome services here: http://bit.ly/UKED_Rae_RichardsThis is a really insightful chat, especially if your dominant archetype is a "nurturer", as is the case with many teachers and tutors. There are many takeaways from this episode, including:When deciding on pricing for your services, look at the market extremes (the lowest & highest prices currently being offered), and decide where you fit in, based on specialty, experience and your USP. Think of a number, then lift it to the point where it feels "a little uncomfortable" to say, and that's what you charge!Once you know and understand your personality type, you're able to quickly identify which other personality types will be attracted to your business. Once you know this, you no longer need to market to the people who won't buy your services. To grow more profitable businesses, nurturers need to develop a relationship with money that becomes personal, and reposition their thinking. For example, money can be used to buy resources for students, which helps you to nurture them. Earning more money, means you can rest more often... and you need rest to effectively nurture others. #6: Deconstructing Reality with James PorrittUnderstanding How Humans and the World WorksWelcome to the UK Educators Community Podcast, with your host, Syd.Syd is an award winning science communicator, serial entrepreneur and educational consultant. On this episode, Syd chats with James Porritt; a highly successful Business coach who specialises in stress management and conflict resolution. Whilst James isn't an "educator" in the classic sense, his work definitely educates his clients and helps them find clarity in life. You'll find many useful nuggets in this chat, including:In order to become truly successful, you must fail along the way, and learn lessons as you go. The modern mentality of "wanting tomorrow's results yesterday without doing the work today" is not realistic If you don't succeed, rather than class it as a failure and ask yourself why you failed, reframe the question and ask yourself what lessons you can learn from the outcome, how those lessons can be used to avoiding the same outcome again, and then use these lessons to teach other people.Emotional maturity and resilience is of massive importance when coaching. Being too emotional leads you to offer too much assistance, which stops people from learning lessons themselves. Being too detached leads to a lack of connection with people. It's all about balance. Growth comes from competing with yourself. Aim to become just 2% better each day.During the hard times, don't consider just surviving, set your sights on growing.Adaptability is the key to growth, especially in hard times. De Oro Devices is a VC-backed biomedical device start-up whose mission is to develop products to improve mobility, independence, and quality of life for those who suffer from mobility disorders and the aging population. NexStride is a small, portable device that uses research-backed sensory cues to help people with Parkinson’s overcome freezing of gait and be able to walk smoothly.Sidney started the company while studying Biomedical Engineering at Cal Poly. She has anacademic research background in computational neuroscience, with a recent research paperpublished in the Journal of Clinical Neurophysiology. In addition, she has experience working in R&D at a past medical device startup during their product launch. Sidney was awarded Cal Poly’s 2019 Outstanding Woman in Engineering award, Outstanding Student Award, and Lisa Hufford Scholarship Award. She was also recognized as one of the most influential women at Cal Poly by the Wire in their 30 under 30 list, and as an accomplished young business leader in the Pacific Coast Business Times 40 under 40 list.De Oro Devices’ mission is to improve mobility, independence, and quality of life. The first product, NexStride, uses visual and auditory cues to help people with Parkinson’s overcome freezing of gait to regain mobility and independence. Freezing of gait is one of the most common and most debilitating symptoms of Parkinson's, defined as a sudden onset of immobility. Research shows that external sensory cues can be used to reconnect the brain and body, bypassing the damaged neural circuits, to overcome freezing of gait. They took the most effective visual and audio cues and combined them into one small, versatile device that attaches to any cane or walker. The visual cue is a green laser line and the auditory cue is a metronome, customizable to the person's walking speed. These cues have been scientifically shown to be effective in reducing the duration of freezing episodes, frequency of episodes, and frequency of falls. The NexStride is a simple and effective way to regain independence and mobility. Support the show (https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_s-xclick&hosted_button_id=BDL59C3CUWGXS&source=url)

March is Women's History Month, and I wanted to take a moment to briefly shine a spotlight on a few inspiring women in real estate (I say "briefly" because there's an entire podcast -- not just one or two episodes -- just waiting to be made on this topic). Join me as I highlight some of the interesting facts about women in real estate, from both a historical and modern perspective, as well as welcome some inspiring guests. In this episode, join me for a fun brunch with three past female Presidents of the Georgia REALTORS® -- 2001 President Barbara Kennon, 2005 President Jan Baker, and 2013 President Robin Lance. Not only are they three of the 12 female Past Presidents of the Georgia REALTORS®, they are shining examples of leadership and they are fast friends -- the real kind, true "besties" who lift each other up, sing each other's praises...and are constantly on the lookout for future female leaders to continue their legacies.Honoring HARRIET KONTER: The ladies wanted to be sure that we honored their dear friend, Harriet Konter, first female President of the Georgia REALTORS®, whom we lost in fall or 2019. In her honor, here is a little more about this inspiring woman. Harriet Konter blazed the trail for women serving in GAR leadership roles as the first female president of GAR in 1987. Her REALTOR® association involvement stretches over many decades and includes leadership roles with the Savannah Board of REALTORS® (SABOR), GAR, NAR, and the Women’s Council of REALTORS®. Harriet’s accolades include REALTOR® of the Year for both SABOR and GAR, the Omega Tau Rho Medal from NAR, and NAR’s RPAC Hall of Fame. Episode 58, Does any of this sound familiar? You're a people pleaser by day and an overthinker by night. The negative voice in your head is the meanest mean girl you know. You feel broken and believe you must hide that brokenness to be loved. You're tired. You are not alone. We talk with Katherine Wintsch, author of Slay Like a Mother, who dedicates her life to making the lives of mothers easier. In her role as founder and CEO of The Mom Complex, she helps the largest companies in the world such as Walmart, Johnson & Johnson and Wells Fargo better understand and support their mom customers and employees. In her latest venture, Katherine combines 10+ years of groundbreaking research on motherhood with her own personal journey in her popular book Slay Like a Mother. Parade magazine recently named Slay Like a Mother, one of the “top 10 life-changing self-help books of the year” and Katherine’s research has been featured by The Today Show, The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal and Fast Company. Some of the topics we discuss in this episode: Struggle vs. Suffering. How talking about your stress can reduce it's power over you. How do we re-define the roles that we know of a mom or wife and how to get comfortable with our new role. Why our inner voice “Bitch radio” is so negative? How to slay this dragon of self doubt? Self-love (vs. seeking approval) and how we can see and appreciate our greatness. The importance of standing in your own greatness and how to stop suffering from the Imposter Syndrome? The power of meditation and how it can change your life. When Will I Be Good Enough? ~ (Replacement Child Syndrome) with Barbara Jaffe, Ed.D. When Will I Be Good Enough? is the first memoir focused on the emotional issues of the Replacement Child Syndrome by a replacement child. Having written this book, Barbara looks forward to helping others pursue a full and honorable life, one they can pass on to their children and then, to future generations. While the circumstances of her birth reflect her position as the replacement child, today she chooses to view herself as the unique individual she is –a replacement child no more! Barbara Jaffe, Ed.D. is an award-winning English professor at El Camino College, California and is a Fellow in UCLA's Department of Education. She has offered countless workshops to students to help them find their writers' voices through writing non-fiction. Her college has honored her by naming her Outstanding Woman of the Year and Distinguished Teacher of the Year. Her wish for this book is twofold: first, to help other “replacement children” understand and accept their often challenging journeys as she reveals her own. Second, to offer a cautionary tale to parents who have, perhaps unwittingly, set the stage in their own families for a child who serves as a replacement for another or is viewed as ‘less than' by comparison. Barbara also shares her inner journey to wholeness so that readers might be able to relate to their own challenges and growth whether they are replacement children or just feel 'less than' at times.
