Our final interview for The Ballad of Wallis Island is here! We have director James Griffiths to discuss translating the short to a feature film, as well as his 2014 film, Cuban Fury.
In this week's episode of Plot Twist, Tom is joined by one of Britain's most beloved comedy actors, Nick Frost. Best known for his iconic roles in the Three Flavours Cornetto Trilogy (Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, The World's End) alongside Simon Pegg, as well as cult favorites like Spaced and Cuban Fury, Nick is back with his latest project: Get Away. This new comedy-horror film, premiering on Sky Cinema on January 10th, sees Nick not only starring alongside Aisling Bea but also stepping into the role of writer. He gives us a behind-the-scenes look at the hilarious inspirations behind this quirky tale set on a fictional Swedish island. Plus, Nick shares some of the unexpected plot twists from his own life — from the serendipitous friendship with Simon that shaped his career, to his transformative years working on an Israeli kibbutz and at a Mexican restaurant in London.Contains spoilers for Get Away! Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
Star of Spaced, the Cornetto Trilogy, Paul, Tintin, Cuban Fury, the upcoming How To Train Your Dragon live action remake and now his own new horror comedy called Get Away (which he just so happened to write) Nick Frost is one of those human beings who likes to keep himself busy, whether it's in films or TV or writing books or cooking up a storm in his kitchen. Here as a little New Year treat, he talks to our Ali about all that and more in a rambling conversation best suited for an idle wintery walk or a lengthy bit of Masterchef-worthy food prep. Or, well, anything else you fancy to be honest.

Film Career: As a film movement specialist, Litza has created movement and action for iconic films and TV, like “Shaun of the Dead”, “Peaky Blinders”, “The World’s End” and “Scott Pilgrim vs The World”. She has also choreographed a musical film, a musical series for Disney, and produced a stand-out dance fight for the salsa dance movie “Cuban Fury”. Awards: Litza has collaborated on multiple award-winning films, commercials and music videos. As a screen writer, she was recently awarded an I.S.A. fellowship for her screenplay “The City of Clouds”. The previous year he was nominated for Golden Globe Award – Best Original Score for Danny Boyle’s Steve Jobs, starring Michael Fassbender and Kate Winslet.Drawing on a richly diverse set of influences, from English folk to hip-hop; nordic metal to musique concrete; Daniel’s score to Guy Ritchie’s King Arthur: Legend Of The Sword is a showcase of a composer unafraid to take risks and revel in pushing the boundaries of modern film scoring. His previous collaboration with Ritchie on The Man from U.N.C.L.E. was widely critically lauded for its bold writing and innovative arrangements earning him – alongside the features Steve Jobs and the Cannes Palm D’Or nominee Mal De Pierres – a nomination for Film Composer of the Year at the 2016 World Soundtrack Awards. The pair collaborated again on Scott’s first directorial foray into television, The Vatican, on the Watergate thriller Felt, produced by Scott, directed by Peter Landesman and starring Liam Neeson, and on All The Money In The World, starring Mark Wahlberg.Hope you enjoy this chat and if you do please subscribe and follow the podcast on the social media links belowOff The Beat & Track

"Once I put those shoes on, I never wanted to take them off." It's time to put on your rubber-soled salsa shoes and hit the floor with JJ and Steve. This month they have got fire in their heels as they talk about Cuban Fury. For March they are lightening the mood with this romantic comedy from 2014 starring Nick Frost, Rashida Jones, Chris O'Dowd, and Ian McShane. This was Pete's trailer pick from April 2014, and he predicted that writer Jon Brown was going to bring some of the same offensive humor that he brought to the tv series 'Misfits.' And boy did he ever! If there is one thing JJ wants you to know about this film it is how crude and offensive Chris O'Dowd's character Drew is. If you can handle the crude shenanigans you will find that this is a film that is not just a romantic comedy but also the story of a man who rediscovers what truly brings joy to his heart. After a disastrous attempt at recording our 100th episode last week, we're back after our brief hiatus with our 'official' centenary podcast. And it's more packed than ever, with no less than six new (or nearly new) release reviews. We argue over whether or not The Lego is awesome or simply just very good; we look at two very different explorations of humans/machine relationships with Her and Robocop, and we still find time to talk about Dallas Buyers Club, The Monuments Men, and Cuban Fury. We also discuss the Bafta results, make our Oscars predictions, and you finally get the Cutthroat Island review you've all been waiting for.
Matt Damon talks to Simon about The Monument Men. Plus the Box Office Top 10 and Mark's reviews of the week's new films including Her, The Lego Movie and Cuban Fury.
With so many films out this Valentine's Day - The Lego Movie, Her, Cuban Fury, The Monuments Men - it's a bumper-sized Empire Podcast this week, featuring interviews with Bob Balaban and Nick Frost, as well as in-depth discussions on movie love songs, Taylor Lautner's BBC 3 absolution and, um, Wario.
Nick Frost joins Simon and Mark live in the studio to talk about his latest film Cuban Fury. Plus the Box Office Top 10 and Mark's reviews of the week's new releases including Lone Survivor, Out of the Furnace, The Armstrong Lie and I, Frankenstein.
WE MADE IT!! 42!! THE ANSWER! Anyway on this episode we discuss Her. We also check out the trailers for Cuban Fury and Better Living Through Chemistry.
