In Hebrew, the name “Mosha” means “Salvation”. That was the name of a 13-year-old boy who was forced into a Nazi concentration camp, and spent the next five years in 18 more. Yet somehow, he lived. In this episode of Follow Your Different, Daniel Gefen shares a real, raw dialogue about his grandfather Mosha, and how he has influenced Daniel’s life and his drive to become a podcasting entrepreneur. You’ll also hear about how Daniel embraces faith, family, and philosophy to guide his life, and how he turns frustration into fascination. Mosha, the Survivor Daniel shares the story of his grandfather, Mosha. Mosha was a survivor of the Nazi concentration camps. He was shot, buried alive, and hanged twice, yet he somehow managed to live on. After the war, Mosha fled to Switzerland. He had no money, no connections, and couldn’t even speak the language. While all he had was himself, he made full use of his talents. He built a farm by himself, and continued to build himself up until he had his own hotel business. Yet even as a multimillionaire hotel owner, Mosha had always strived to live a simpler life. All his focus was on how he could help others be happy. “The reason he opened the hotel wasn't to make money. The reason he opened the hotel was because he wanted to serve people. That's how he lived his life. He lived in a very small little apartment above the hotel his whole life, didn't drive a car, and gave away pretty much almost all of his money to charities.” - Daniel Gefen Giving Voice to Others through Podcasting Daniel talks about how the more recent generations have become too focused on themselves. While it’s not a bad thing to have some self-love, being too wrapped up with oneself can narrow one’s view. Sometimes, focusing outwardly and living for something or someone else can give you a higher purpose. For Daniel, it was giving voice to those who have long yearned to share their stories through his podcasts. “I kind of feel like my career is all about giving people exposure right through podcasting. My whole career is all about giving people the opportunity to promote and share their stories and get themselves out there on the biggest podcast. Ironically, I feel like I'm doing something that my grandfather couldn't do.” - Daniel Gefen Don’t Lock Yourself in a Should Prison Daniel describes how his grandfather’s past trauma has also affected future generations of the family. One of the affected parties is his father and Daniel's relationship with him growing up. Yet he doesn’t blame his grandfather nor his father for it. Instead of letting things stay as it is, Daniel strived to reach out and build a strong connection with his father. Rather than focusing on what other people should do, Daniel decided to focus on what he could do for them. He also learned to choose what’s best given the situation, rather than hoping for that perfect ending. “I have a mentor, a rabbi, who many times has said to me, “You know, do you want to be right? Or do you want to be happy? You can't always have both. Sometimes you can. But a lot of times, you cannot have both. So what do you want? You get to choose.” ” - Daniel Gefen To hear more from Daniel Gefen and on how his grandfather inspired him to be an entrepreneur, download and listen to this episode. Tap into The Power of Your Mind using Law of Attraction and Hypnosis Techniques
Power of Your Mind Podcast Interview with Daniel Gefen – Avoid Burnout by Balancing and 'Being' and 'Becoming' In Episode #102, I am talking with Daniel Gefen. International bestselling author of The Self Help Addict. Top rated podcast host of Can I Pick Your Brain? and Deeper Living "You know why it's so hard to write my own bio? Because so many people told me I wasn't good enough. I used to get lost in bookstores trying to find myself. (Or maybe I was just trying to find a better version) Turns out all the ‘gurus' I worshipped didn't have the answer. I was so addicted to self-help I wrote the book ‘The Self-help addict' which became an international bestseller. Then I realized that my book was just like all the others. It missed the mark. It didn't solve the real problem we all suffer from. We are still desperately searching. Stressed out and sleepwalking through life. So I decided to launch ‘Deeper Living'. To help as many people as I can live a deeper, richer, more meaningful life. It's not about finding anything. But returning to what we already have. Oh and my wife is a freaking angel for sticking with me for 13 years and raising 5 kids who keep reminding me why life is so precious." We talked about: How you can create healthier relationships with Money, People and Netflix How Daniel can protect his creativity which is the tool that solves most problems How Daniel avoids stress, overwhelm and burnout How you can avoid perfectionism and procrastination What should you do if you're taking yourself too seriously And much more! Today I am excited to introduce today's featured guest, Daniel Gefen. Daniel is the host of the Can I Pick Your Brain podcast, as well as the founder of Jet Virtual, a telephone answering service and virtual office business with locations all over the world. He is also the cofounder of Get Featured, which helps small brands go from obscurity to celebrity. Although he's built a successful career, Daniel has certainly had his ups and downs, which we will get into today. At the age of 23, Daniel had a six-figure salary...right before he went broke and was evicted onto the streets of California with his wife and son. They returned to London where he took a job as a cashier for about a year before he couldn't take it anymore and just had to get back to being an entrepreneur. Daniel started Jet Virtual and through persistence and a lot of cold calling, he grew the business. All was going well until one of his key team members abruptly quit and his landlord sold the building and he was told he needed to vacate the space. After those two blows, he wasn't sure that he was going to be able to run the business, but then he got the idea to outsource his business to one of his competitors, and this allowed him to scale faster and eliminate his staff and equipment, thereby freeing him up to work from anywhere. Using this approach, he spent a year working out of a hotel lobby before he semi-retired on passive earnings at age 31.
Today, we have Daniel Gefen joining us. Daniel is the co-founder of a company called Get Featured, which helps people who want to get on a podcast and promote something. Get Featured aims to help brands go from obscurity to celebrity. Daniel is also an entrepreneur that grew multiple companies from scratch. These include Jet Answering Service, Jet Virtual services, and Jet Offices. This is a guy who, in the face of adversity, is all about getting up, making it happen, and making it real. If you're an entrepreneur out there struggling along, not sure if you have something, not sure of what to do, this is a great story for you. This guy kept it real, kept it going in the face of massive adversity, turned it around, and made it happen. I totally loved chatting with him. He is also the podcast host of Can I Pick Your Brain? I got to come on his show, and if you are interested, you can check it out. His podcast is all about finding people who have had some success in their life, sharing their stories, and asking questions specifically about how they made it happen.

Daniel Gefen is all about working on his business, not in his business. Hard work and dedication has built a life where he can do what he wants with his time, and this is , to him, is real freedom. In this episode he shares many nuggets of wisdom that can get you on the path to passive income as well. Daniel had a rough go of things back in 2008 when he lost his 6-figure job (which he had negotiated up from $60K) due to the economy. This left him homeless with his wife and child, until he moved back to London to work at his dad's grocery store. He was grateful to his father for taking them in, but he couldn't stand working at the store. Being fed up with his job led him to pursue entrepreneurship. He decided to start a virtual office and telephone answering company (Jet Virtual). It was a lot of work at first as he was filling all roles within this new company. Daniel hired people as the company grew, but this too came with its own set of headaches. When his lead receptionist quit, he learned that you should “Never, ever rely on one person to do everything.” Her leaving really hurt as she knew all the protocols and handled all client issues and needs. On top of this, that same day he received a notice that he had to vacate his office within the next two weeks. This was too much for him and he was about to close the business when he decided to make a rather bold and unconventional move. He decided to outsource all his clients to a competitor. This turned out to be the best decision he'd ever made. Over the next year he was a one-man crew building his company with a laptop and free internet access from a local hotel. He'd turned a disastrous situation into a passive income generating machine that didn't require much work from him to continue running. According to Daniel, the biggest area that people struggle with in business is second guessing themselves. The only way to overcome this is through action. “Once you start taking action, the action starts to get results and the results start to boost your ego and self-esteem.” This leads you to realize that you really can do this and can find success. One other simple yet profound piece of advice is to “Stop consuming and produce”: For every book you read, write an ebook For every 10 videos you watch, make a Facebook Live video For every 10 Snapchat stories you consume, produce one “You can't earn money by consuming, the only way you're going to earn money is by producing; putting stuff out there.” To get entrepreneurs producing more, Daniel wrote an article entitled, ‘Focusing on ONE thing.' He says that by nature we want everything and we're distracted by all the shiny things out there. But we only have so much time in the day so we need to focus on ONE; product, platform, niche, etc. “People who try to be everything to everyone end up being nobody to no one.” Start small, conquer that area, then expand. This was a great interview with Daniel, a flexible, honest and creative person who has built a business that allows him to live the life he wants. Now that you've heard some of his wisdom and great advice, get out there and start producing more for your business. SOME QUESTIONS I ASK: What was the motivation behind Daniel's first company? What made him want to start his podcast? What's the biggest area that people struggle with in business? How can people put the idea of focusing on the one thing that will grow their business? IN THIS EPISODE, YOU WILL LEARN: Why Daniel thinks it's important to under-promise and over-deliver Why you shouldn't wait for the results of your work but just continue to produce. Why it's important to view taking risks as simply experiments and not potential failures. That the reality is it takes years to build a successful business and it won't happen overnight. He then got a jobas a cashier at his father's London grocery store.Daniel then had an awesome idea to help business outsource theircustomer service and business quickly started to boom. However, hehit a wall, and decided the only way he could continue to grow wasto outsource his business to his competition.
