"My shop just can't rank on Etsy." I hear this constantly. And then comes the reason. My prices are too high. My photos aren't good enough. I'm not selling the right product. My shop is too new. I don't have enough reviews. The big shops have taken over my niche. In this episode I'm going through all six of these beliefs one by one, because most of what sellers think is standing between them and consistent traffic is either misunderstood or completely fixable. None of these are reasons a shop can't rank. They're reasons a shop hasn't ranked yet. But we can fix that. What You'll Learn:Why price is almost never a ranking factor on Etsy and what it actually affects insteadThe real role photos play in your visibilityWhy there is a buyer on Etsy for what you make and what's actually standing between you and reaching themWhat new shops need to understand about how Etsy tests listings from day oneWhy reviews matter for conversion but not in the way most sellers think they do for rankingHow to find room in your niche even when the biggest shops feel like they've taken overThe difference between a shop that can't rank and one that just hasn't had the right strategy in place yetWhat to do next:Enroll in the Etsy Visibility Accelerator before cart closes on Sunday: https://sarahjwaggoner.com/evapodDM me on Instagram to talk through what's been holding your shop back: https://www.instagram.com/sarahjwaggoner/
In this episode, we sit down with Funs Jacobs — Next-Gen Brand Architect and author of The Creative Renaissance — to explore what it means to build brands in the age of AI.Funs argues that the iconic brands of the future will be built by creatives, run by agents, and fueled by culture. We unpack what that actually means: from why human taste is the last true unfair advantage in a world of AI, to how AI agents are finally freeing creatives from the operational work they never wanted to do in the first place. We also dig into:Why blindly asking ChatGPT to make your creative decisions is already making you a slave to the machineThe shift from "operators running brands" back to "creatives at the helm" — and why AI makes this possible nowWhat Meta's Andromeda means for advertising, and why media buying as we know it is overThe tension between online authenticity and the algorithm's hunger for extremesWhy the answer to almost everything right now is simply: be more humanFuns draws on lessons from Apple, Gucci, Supreme, Rick Rubin, and Walt Disney to make the case that this moment — chaotic as it is — is genuinely the best time in history to be a creative.Read the full essay at https://funsjacobs.substack.com/p/the-creative-renaissance

Philippians 1:12 Todaywe are continuing to look at Philippians 1:12. The Apostle Paul is writing backto the church of Philippi from prison in Rome. He is in chains, and he writes, “ButI want you to know, brethren, that the things which happened to me haveactually turned out for the furtherance of the gospel.” You can imagine hisfriends back at Philippi are concerned. Paul is in prison. He might be beaten, like he was when he was in jail in Philippi years ago when he founded thechurch there. Paul might be hungry. He might be terribly hurt. He might betortured. Maybe he is even facing death. They could have been so concerned. YetPaul writes to them this letter of encouragement. He says, “But I want you toknow, brethren, that the things that have happened to me have actually turnedout for the furtherance of the gospel.” Theymight have been thinking that Paul is such a great minister. He has otherchurches and cities to go to. He has churches to plant. He is a church builder. He is a church planter. Now he is in prison. How could God allow that tohappen? Yet Paul is saying, “No, no, that is just the opposite. God has me herefor a purpose.” Overthe years, I have talked about divine appointments. One of the most excitingthings in my life over the years—especially as we traveled, or even in everydaylife—is that I believe we should be looking for divine appointments. God hassomebody, somewhere in our path, that He wants us to tell about Jesus Christ.Sometimes it ends up being in the strangest places. Iwill never forget when I went to visit a man in the hospital. I had his name.He was a friend of mine, and I had known him for years. I looked up his name atthe hospital, found his room number, and went to that room. I looked in, and itwas not him. There was someone else in that bed. I went back down to thenurse's station and said, “Hey, listen, I am looking for so-and-so. I know heis here. Here is his name, and this is the room number.” They looked it up andsaid, “That is the man. He is in that bed. He is in that room.” I said, “No, heis not. I know him. He is not in there.” They said, “He is too. That is the manin that room.” Iwent back and looked, and sure enough, the man in the bed had the exact samename as the man I was wanting to visit—but he was a totally different person. Isat there and began talking to him and asked him where he went to church. Hesaid he did not go anywhere. I shocked him by saying, “That is great. That isreally good.” He said, “What? You are a pastor. You would expect me to go tochurch.” I said, “Oh no. One thing I do not have to worry about is that you arenot thinking going to church will get you to heaven.” I had the opportunity towitness to him, lead him to Christ, and later baptize him and his wife. Adivine appointment. I never would have expected it. I was not in the wrongroom—I was in the right place at the right time, on God's timing, in God'sdivine appointment. Thereare so many opportunities that take place. Paul says, “I want you to know, brethren, that the things that have happened to me have actually turned out forthe furtherance of the gospel.” Doors open for us that would not have openedany other way. God places us in unexpected situations—not to stop us, but touse us. It might be the workplace. It might be a hospital room, as we said. Itmight be a difficult season in our life. Iremind you of Proverbs 16:9: “A man's heart plans his way, but the Lorddirects his steps.” Proverbs 20:24: “A man's steps are of the Lord; howthen can a man understand his own way?” And then Psalm 37:23: “The stepsof a good man are ordered by the Lord, and He delights in his way.”

If every conflict leaves you feeling like you failed — even when you're not sure what you did wrong — this episode is for you. That weight isn't proof of failure. It's what over-responsibility feels like when it's been running too long. Most high-capacity humans don't just feel bad after conflict. They feel responsible for all of it — even the parts that weren't theirs to carry. If you've ever smoothed something over just to make the discomfort stop, apologized for things you aren't sure were your fault, or absorbed the full weight of a rupture while the other person moved on unaware — this episode names what that actually costs. In this episode you'll recognize:Why taking on full responsibility after conflict feels like the fastest route back to stabilityHow your nervous system decides you've failed before the conversation is even overThe difference between responsibility and over-responsibility — and where capacity quietly disappears between themWhy the people who absorb everything are often the loneliest ones in the roomWhat it means to own what's yours without carrying what isn'tToday's Micro Recalibration:Think of a conflict that's still carrying weight. Ask honestly: what in this is actually mine? And what have I been carrying that belongs to the shared space — or to the other person entirely? Own what's mine. Release what isn't. Act in good faith in the process. For leaders: notice if a team tension is being absorbed as personal failure. Send us Fan MailThe mid-career job market can challenge your confidence in ways you did not expect. You make it to final interviews but do not get the offer. You hear “we will be in touch” and then nothing. You start to question whether it is safer to stay where you are simply because the paycheck is reliable.I know that experience. I have lived a version of it myself. And it led me to ask a more important question than “What job do I want next?”The better question is this: How are you showing up when the old career rules no longer apply? In this episode, I break down what has changed in the job market since late 2025 and why the traditional advice to “find a job you love” is no longer enough for mid-career professionals. If you want to get promoted, land better opportunities, or feel more fulfilled in your work, the strategy has to evolve.I share a key insight from my keynote, How We Show Up Matters, and explain why success at mid-career is no longer just about experience or performance. It is about how you position yourself through your visibility, your influence, and your professional presence. We also go behind the scenes of a major business decision I made. This week, we're doing something a little different… anddeeply intentional.I'm reaching back into the vault and bringing forwardteachings from a series I recorded years ago on the 12 Universal Laws. Why now? Because I'm tired. I'm honoring the need for rest and space… and at the same time, I know this truth: this work is timeless. These laws are not trends. They are not dependent onseasons. They are always at work, whether we are aware of them or not.In this first episode, we begin at the foundation. You'll be introduced to the deeper understanding of howthese laws operate in your life, the role of energy in everything you experience, and the powerful Law of Vibration. This is where it all begins. You'll hear why everything is energy, how your thoughts, emotions, and intentions are constantly sending out a signal, and how your lived experience is shaped not just by what happens to you, but how you align with what is already in motion. This episode is an invitation to move from living bydefault… to living by design.Even if you've heard this before, listen again. There is adepth here that meets you differently depending on where you are in your journey. We've taught this as a full 12-week experience before. Overthe next couple of weeks, I'll be sharing pieces of that journey with you, so you can reconnect, realign, and remember what's already within you.Take a breath. Let this land. And allow yourself to comeback into alignment.Michelle@GrowBy1.comGrowBy1.com/CEU

Understandthis clearly: Satan did not quote God's Word completely. And he did not quoteit correctly or in its proper context. My friend, Satan is not afraid when youquote Scripture—especially if you do not understand it. He is not intimidatedwhen you use verses out of context, perhaps just to make yourself feel betterabout what you are doing. Overthe years, as a pastor, I have seen many people do exactly that when they wereconfronted with some sin in their life. They would say, “It must be okay, because the Bible says….” I'll never forget in my early days as a pastor I wasasked to meet with a family late one night and talk to the wife who wascommitting adultery. When we lovingly confronted her, she actually said, “Godsaid in the Bible that you're supposed to love everybody. I love my husband, and I love this other person too.” Wow! You almost can't imagine how cansomeone quote Scripture out of context like that and come up with such aconclusion? But it literally happened. That is why we must learn to use theWord of God carefully, rightly, and accurately. Thatis also why Paul told Timothy in 2 Timothy 2:15, “Study to show yourselfapproved unto God, rightly dividing the Word of truth.” That is veryimportant. Again, Paul says in Ephesians 6:17, “the sword of the Spirit, whichis the Word of God.” Make sure you rightly know it and correctly apply it! Thereis something else very powerful in this verse. When Paul speaks of “the swordof the Spirit, which is the Word of God,” he is referring to a specific wordfor a specific battle. This is an important point to understand.InEphesians 6:17, Paul does not use the Greek word logos, which oftenrefers to the Word of God in general. Instead, he uses the word rhema, which refers to a specific saying, a particular word spoken for a particularsituation. Why is that important? Because when Satan attacks you, you do notjust need general Bible knowledge. You need specific truth for specific lies. Forexample, when Satan says, “God doesn't love you,” you can answer with Romans5:8: “But God commended His love toward us, in that, while we were yetsinners, Christ died for us.” Or you might answer with 1 John 4:9–10: “Inthis the love of God was manifested toward us, that God has sent His onlybegotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him. In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be thepropitiation for our sins.” Quote that Scripture back when the devil saysGod does not love you. WhenSatan says, “You've gone too far,” answer with 1 John 1:9: “If we confessour sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us fromall unrighteousness.” When Satan says, “You're not really saved,” answerwith John 10:28, where Jesus said, “I give unto them eternal life, and theyshall never perish.”Yoursalvation is not based on what you do. It is based on what Jesus has alreadydone for you. Onepassage that I memorized as a brand-new Christian, when Satan attacked me withthat very lie, was Romans 8:35–39. The Apostle Paul wrote: “Who shallseparate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, orpersecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? As it is written:‘For Your sake we are killed all day long; We are accounted as sheep for theslaughter.' Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him wholoved us. For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels norprincipalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor heightnor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from thelove of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Myfriend, make sure you use a specific Word to answer a specific attack ofSatan. When you do, you are taking up the sword of the Spirit exactly as Godintended—and He will protect you in that moment.
What if every heartbreak, every failure, every person who showed up and walked away — was actually pointing you toward your purpose? Most of us move through life reacting to what happens — calling it bad luck, calling it unfair, calling it "just the way things are." But what if you zoomed out far enough to see the pattern? The same type of relationship that keeps showing up. The same wall you keep hitting at work. The same feeling that follows you no matter how much you try to outrun it.What if none of it was random — and all of it was trying to teach you something? In this episode, Raj introduces a simple but powerful idea: your life has a purpose, and that purpose is hidden inside the very experiences you wish never happened. He breaks it down into two layers — the lessons you're here to heal from and the life you're here to step into — and explains why most people stay stuck in the first layer without ever realizing there's a second one waiting for them. What You'll Discover:Why the same painful patterns keep repeating in your life — and what they're actually trying to show you about your deeper purposeThe difference between the wounds you're here to heal and the life you're here to build — and why understanding both is the key to finally moving forwardWhy "just the way I am" is the most expensive belief you'll ever carry — and the mindset shift that puts your life back in your handsThe moment Raj realized that pain is inevitable but suffering is a choice — and the simple distinction that changed everythingHow to use your past as a map — a reflection practice that helps you connect the dots and see the deeper intelligence behind what you've been throughWhy trusting yourself enough to try something new — even without a guarantee — is the real work most personal growth skips overThe reason your life might feel like it's falling apart right now — and why that breakdown could be the setup for the version of you that's trying to emergeHow to stop waiting for permission, clarity, or the "right time" and start walking toward the life that's been calling you all alongIf you've ever felt like there has to be more to life than what you're experiencing — like there's a reason behind the struggle that you just can't see yet — this episode will help you see it. Ever frozen on a consult call the moment someone said your fee was too expensive (I mean, who hasn't?) Handling fee objections is one of the most uncomfortable moments therapists face on consult calls, and if you've ever walked away from that conversation feeling guilty, confused, or tempted to slash your rates on the spot, this episode is for you!I'm breaking down what "too expensive" actually means when a potential client says it (it's not always what you think). I'll share how to tell the difference between someone who genuinely can't afford your fee and someone who's just unsure about investing in therapy. We'll talk about why being rock solid in your pricing matters and how your own money issues might be getting in the way. Plus, I'm giving you my favorite go-to response you can use word for word on your next call! This episode isn't about pressuring anyone into saying yes. It's about holding your boundary while staying warm, curious, and deeply caring. If you want to feel more grounded the next time money comes up on a consult call, tune in.Topics covered on Handling Fee Objections:Why "too expensive" is a subjective judgment and not an objective fact about your feeYour own assumptions can lead you to offer a sliding scale to clients who don't actually need itWhat I would do differently with my therapy fees if I could start overThe real reasons someone might say your fee is too expensive even when they can technically afford itMy favorite word-for-word response when handling fee objectionsGiving back in other ways helps you hold your fee without guiltResources from this episode:Get my freebie & join the email list: The Magic SheetsLiberated Business: www.thebadtherapist.coach/liberatedbusinessConnect with Felicia:Instagram: @the_bad_therapistWebsite: www.thebadtherapist.coachQuote:"When someone says that your fee is too expensive, it's really important that we understand that this is a particular perspective. Overthe past few days, we have been learning about our enemy, the devil. Today, weturn our attention to the equipment God has provided for us, and we begin tolearn how to stand against him by putting on the whole armor of God that hasbeen made available to every believer. The fact that the Apostle Paul uses theword “wrestle” reminds us that this is a hand-to-hand battle. We are notmere spectators watching a game from the sidelines. We are engaged in realspiritual conflict. Satan seeks to use our external enemy—the world—and ourinternal enemy—the flesh—to defeat us. Ephesians6:13-17 describes the equipment that God has made available to us. Because ourenemies operate in the spiritual realm, we need spiritual equipment, both fordefense and for offense. God has provided the whole armor, and we dare not omitany part of it. Satan is always looking for an unguarded area in our liveswhere he can gain a foothold, or as Paul warns, “giving place to the devil”(Ephesians 4:27). This gives Satan a “beachhead” or a “stronghold” (2Corinthians 10:4), for him to operate from in our lives. Paulcommands believers to put on the armor, take up the weapons, and stand firmagainst Satan. All of this is done by faith. Knowing that Christ has alreadyconquered Satan, and knowing that the armor and weapons are available to us, weaccept by faith what God has given and then go out to meet the enemy. The dayis evil, and the enemy is evil, but we take comfort in the truth of Romans 8:31:“If God is for us, who can be against us?” Thefirst piece of armor that Paul mentions is the “Girdle of Truth” (Ephesians6:14a). Satan is a liar (John 8:44), but the believer whose life is controlledby truth can defeat him. The girdle, or belt, held the other pieces of armortogether, and in the same way, truth is the integrating force in the life of avictorious Christian. A person of integrity, with a clear conscience, can facethe enemy without fear. The girdle also held the sword. If we do not practicethe truth, we cannot properly use the Word of truth. Once a lie enters the lifeof a believer, everything begins to fall apart. Wesee a sobering example of this in the life of King David. For over a year,David concealed his sin with Bathsheba, and nothing in his life went right. Psalm32 and Psalm 51 describe the heavy price he paid until he returned to truth andconfession. Nextis the “Breastplate of Righteousness” (Ephesians 6:14b). Thebreastplate, made of metal plates or chains, covered the body from the neck tothe waist, both front and back. It symbolizes the believer's righteousness inChrist. Remember in 2 Corinthians 5:21 we are told that “we are made therighteousness of God in Christ”. It also symbolizes the believer's righteouslife we are to live in Christ. This happens when we “Put on the new manwhich was created according to God, in true righteousness and holiness”. (Ephesians 4:24). Satanis the accuser, but he cannot successfully accuse a believer who is living agodly life in the power of the Holy Spirit. The life we live either strengthensus against Satan's attacks or makes it easier for him to defeat us Read Paul'stestimony as a minister of the Gospel in 2 Corinthians 6:1–10, and especialverse 7: “By the word of truth, by the power of God, by the armor ofrighteousness on the right hand and on the left.” Notice all thetribulations and trials that Paul faced were overcome in with armor of truthand righteousness! WhenSatan accuses the Christian, it is the righteousness of Christ that assures usof our salvation. However, positional righteousness in Christ without practicalrighteousness in daily living gives Satan an opportunity to attack. Maythe Lord help us today to make sure each day we are putting on the “whole armorof God”. Godbless you, and may you have a wonderful, wonderful day.
Welcome back to The Sharp Cut — where Marc and Vassilis take scissors to marketing's biggest comfort blankets. This episode's target: personas. Not “burn them all”… but the idea that personas are a valid operating system for audience strategy. Marc and V argue that personas don't fail because they're fictional — they fail because they pretend markets are stable, targetable, and neatly categorized, when real buying behaviour is context-driven, messy, and dynamic. They unpack why personas became popular (stakeholder comfort, platform narratives, proxy metrics), then bring in evidence — including an Adobe test where the “expected” persona audience underperformed an unexpected segment by 50%. The conclusion is blunt: personas are a story, not a strategy — and if you confuse the two, you'll underreach, overfit, and misallocate budget. The alternative? Shift from identity to category entry points, need-states, broad reach, and experimentation — and use personas only as a creative communication layer after the real strategy is built.Key takeawaysPersonas aren't dead — but they're not a foundation. They can help internal alignment, but they shouldn't drive budget.Context beats identity. People don't buy because they “are” a persona; they buy due to situations, triggers, and barriers.Personas encourage exclusion. That's dangerous when growth requires reaching more category buyers (especially light and ultra-light buyers).Markets are more similar than persona decks imply. The Ehrenberg-Bass “law of brand user profiles” suggests rival brand buyers often look alike; growth is about penetration, not “unicorn” profiles.Testing beats theorizing. The Adobe example shows how persona-led targeting can blind you to better-performing audiences.Privacy + platform automation should push you away from persona obsession. Your edge becomes positioning, reach, creative quality, and measurement — not “knowing Sarah.”Replace persona-led planning with: category entry points, need-states, barriers/motivations, creative territories, broad reach by default, and guardrail measurement.Chapters / Timestamps00:00 — Welcome to The Sharp Cut: “Personas, we have a problem.”Why this topic matters right now.01:10 — The “Underwear Crisis”: when a persona sounds smart but makes no decisionsWhy polished personas often collapse at decision time.02:20 — The core myth: “If we can describe them, we can target them.”The promise of precision and why it's so seductive.04:25 — Persona theatre: why decks reward stories over strategyCheckbox segmentation, stakeholder comfort, and agency incentives.05:00 — Evidence check: Adobe says the persona era is overThe “inside-out” problem and why context drives outcomes.06:10 — The 50% conversion wake-up call: testing beyond the personaHow “sport lovers” beat the “correct” persona audience.07:15 — Why personas persist: org design, proxy metrics, platform narratives, psychologyControl feels good — even when it's false.09:10 — The marketing science critique: brand buyers aren't that differentPenetration, light buyers, and why “special customers” are overrated.10:30 — Category entry points: what people actually buy forIdentity vs situations, triggers, and motivations.12:05 — “But B2B...
In Episode 225 of the Pu'u Muay Thai Podcast, Jonathan Puu explains why Muay Thai isn't supposed to feel fun, exciting, or motivating every single day — and why that discomfort is exactly what makes it such a powerful practice. Most people quit Muay Thai when training stops feeling “fun.” They assume something is wrong, that they're failing, or that they're not cut out for it. In reality, that moment is where real progress begins. This episode breaks down:Why motivation fades and discipline takes overThe difference between fun and fulfillment in Muay Thai trainingWhy awareness grows faster than skill — and why that feels frustratingThe phases where most students quit (3–4 months and around 2 years)How Muay Thai builds self-trust, resilience, and composure under pressureWhy repetition matters more than hype or excitementHow long-term training changes you on and off the matsJonathan shares stories from nearly two decades of training, coaching, and officiating to show why Muay Thai isn't an entertainment product — it's a practice that sharpens you, humbles you, and builds discipline over time.If training feels hard, boring, or uncomfortable right now, this episode explains why that's not failure — it's growth.Support the showLeave a message or text us 24/7/365!+1-805-456-3316
Paultells us we must be imitators of God as dear children. That phrase is veryimportant. It is only possible to put off bitterness, malice, anger, andunforgiveness because we are dear children of God. Over the years in mycounseling sessions I have hear many people say, “You don't understand whatso-and-so did to me. You don't understand what happened years ago. There is noway I can forgive or love that person.” And humanly speaking, that may be true. But now that you have been born into God's family, you are called to imitateGod. And God is love. Weespecially read this truth in the book of 1 John, where Scripture reminds usthat God is love. That becomes the foundation for our walk. Remember yesterdaywe mentioned that as believers, Paul gives us three clear instructions in thischapter about how we are to walk. We are to: Walk in love (v. 2), walk aschildren of light (v. 8), and to walk carefully and wisely (v. 15). When we walkin this way, we display to the world around us that there is somethingdifferent about us. That difference is not our personality or our strength—itis the supernatural, divine, godly life of Christ living in us. We live thisway only because Christ is in us and we are children of God. Overthe years, I have seen this truth played out many times at weddings, funerals, and family gatherings. These are moments when families, whether in sorrow or ingreat joy, should be coming together in unity. Yet it is heartbreaking to seethe animosity, hatred, and bitterness that sometimes surface. I have heardpeople say, “If they are going to be there, I'm not going.” If that person is part of the service, Iwon't be.” “I'm not attending the wedding because so-and-so will be there.” Myfriend, that does not display the heart of God's love. Howdo we overcome that? Peter gives us the answer in 2 Peter 1:2-4: “Grace andpeace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord, asHis divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue, by which havebeen given to us exceedingly great and precious promises, that through theseyou may be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption thatis in the world through lust”. He reminds us that we have been called byGod's glory and virtue, and that we have been given exceedingly great andprecious promises, so that through these we may become partakers of the divinenature! Myfriend, if you are in Christ, you are a partaker of the divine nature. And Godis love. Because of that, we understand that love covers a multitude of sins.In 1 Peter 4:7–10 we read: “But the end of all things is at hand; thereforebe serious and watchful in your prayers. And above all things have fervent lovefor one another, for "love will cover a multitude of sins." Be hospitableto one another without grumbling. As each one has received a gift, minister itto one another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.” Read1 John 4:7–11, where we are reminded once again that: “He who does not lovedoes not know God, for God is love. In these verses, we are told that Goddemonstrated His love by sending His only begotten Son into the world, that wemight live through Him. This is love—not that we loved God, but that He lovedus and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins”. And then comesthe clear application: “Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to loveone another.” Thinkon those words today. And may the Lord use these thoughts to encourage you towalk in love—to walk in love as Christ has loved us, and to love oneanother in Christ Jesus. Godbless you. And may you have a wonderful, wonderful day.
Send us a textWhen separation comes up, most couples split into two roles fast:One becomes the Fixer. You want to talk, solve, repair, and close the gap now because the silence feels unbearable. The other becomes the Escaper. You shut down, pull back, and hope the pressure stops, not because you don't care, but because you feel emotionally overwhelmed and unsafe in the conversations. And here's the trap: both responses make sense… and both make separation harder. The Fixer reaches for connection to feel safe. The Escaper reaches for distance to feel safe. So the more one pursues, the more the other withdraws, and what could have been a reset starts turning into panic on one side and deafening silence on the other. In today's episode of Love Shack Live, we're unpacking what's really happening underneath these two survival patterns and how to interrupt the cycle before “space” quietly becomes distance, drift, or a slow exit. You'll learn:Why a request for space doesn't automatically mean the relationship is overThe most common misconceptions that make separation feel even more terrifyingHow anxiety and depression spike during separation (and why that doesn't mean you're “crazy”)The difference between space for space's sake and space with a planWhy unstructured space often leads to break-up/make-up cyclesHow to create simple agreements that reduce panic and rebuild trustWhat it actually means to “be okay either way” without shutting down or giving upHow to become a safer place for the truth, so real repair becomes possibleThis episode is for you if you're in that brutal in-between: wanting connection, needing breathing room, and not knowing how to move forward without making things worse. And yes, we'll also remind you of something important: space can be a do-over, not a death sentence, but only if you use it intentionally.Want help figuring out your next step?If space or separation has entered your relationship and you don't know what to do next, Tom is offering a free clarity call to help you get oriented, calm the noise, and map your next best steps, whether that's together, apart, or somewhere in-between.Book your call at stacibartley.com/apply.

Todaywe've been looking at Ephesians 4:17–19, and now we're going to move on toverses 20–24. In these verses, the Apostle Paul follows up on his admonitionnot to walk as the Gentiles walk, but instead to walk in a way that pleasesGod. Paul describes the lost world as walking in futility—emptiness and vanityof mind. Their hearts are darkened. They lack spiritual understanding, and theydo not even know what they are stumbling over. Paul says, in essence, “Don't gothat direction. Don't live that way.” Thenhe gives us a powerful contrast in verse 20: “But ye have not so learnedChrist.” There is something fundamentally different about the believer. Youhave learned Christ. Many people may learn about Jesus, but they nevertruly learn Jesus Christ. Paul's argument is that genuine believers haveentered into a personal relationship with Him. Jesus Himself extended thisinvitation in Matthew 11:28–29: “Come unto me, all you that labor and areheavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn ofme; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto yoursouls.” To“learn Christ” means to enter into a personal relationship with Him. Ican know about historical figures—such as Abraham Lincoln. I can readbiographies and learn what he did and what he accomplished. But I don't knowhim personally. He is dead and gone. My friend, Jesus Christ is alive. He is aliving Savior. He lives today—first in my heart, and also in the Word of God.Sohow do we learn Christ? We learn Christ by spending time with Him—in the Wordof God and in prayer.Youwill never grow spiritually mature, never grow as you should as a believer, andnever dig deep down to the Rock unless you get into God's Word. We must hearHis Word, read His Word, study His Word, memorize His Word, and meditate on HisWord. I love Psalm 1:2–3, which says: “But his delight is in the law of theLORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. And he shall be like atree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in hisseason; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.” Whydoes that person prosper? Because they are planted by the river of livingwater—Jesus Christ Himself. He is the Living Water. He is the Word. He is theTruth. He is the Way. He is the Life. When you take time in the Word of God,you are fellowshipping with Christ. And when you add prayer, you are buildingan intimate relationship with Him. But learning Christ is not only aboutreading His Word—it is also about experiencing Him in prayer. Prayer is talkingto Him, but prayer also involves listening. Through the Holy Spirit, God speaksto us as we pray. Overthe years, I have learned how wonderful this is. Whether I am praying privatelyin my office, driving, walking through my house, or doing prayer walks throughmy neighborhood, I find that God speaks to me as I speak to Him—if I will taketime to be still and listen. Sometimes He says, “You need to do this. You needto write that letter. You need to call that person. You need to pray for thisindividual.” He places these things on your heart. You know it is Him. You hearHis voice. Other times, you may be discouraged and in need of comfort. As youmeditate on His Word and yield your fears and burdens to Him, He speaks to yourheart. He gives comfort. He gives courage. He gives exactly what you need inyour time of need. That is why Scripture tells us we can come boldly to thethrone of grace with confidence. Ephesians4:20, “But you have not so learned Christ.” In other words, you nolonger live like the unsaved Gentiles because you have learned Christ. Becauseyou have learned Christ, your life is different. You have a different walk, adifferent talk, a different outlook, and a different attitude. You now seekthings from God's perspective rather than from the world's philosophies andopinions. Itrust that you will have a heart to learn Christ—to truly know Him.

After divorce, which stand-up choices really count? This week I'm joined by comedian, writer, and director Jay Larson, who's been making audiences laugh for 24 years. When his marriage ended right before the pandemic, Jay made intentional choices to give his kids a different story than the one he grew up with after his parents' divorce. His story is honest, funny, and so relatable. As you listen, I invite you to think about your own stand-up choices. Which ones have been hard won? Which ones are you rethinking? Jay's experience just might mirror something in your own life — whether it's how you talk about your ex, what you choose to share (or not share) about your divorce, or simply the words you use to describe your life now. This conversation kept evolving well beyond the questions I asked. Jay talks about the impact of words, what it means to stand up for your kids and your values, and the everyday choices that shape who we are after divorce. It's funny, vulnerable, and so relatable. How do you know you've been forgiven? Do you have assurance thatyou've been forgiven for every sin that you've ever committed? Well, the evidence and the proof is in the fact that you now have the ability toforgive others. You have the desire to forgive others instead of being a bitterperson, speaking evil against others, being full of malice and envy and wantingto get even and all those sorts of things and carrying a grudge on your shoulder.I'm telling you, my friend, the proof, the evidence that you have experiencedthe forgiveness of God through Christ Jesus is that you are willing and areable and have the power and ability to forgive others who have offended andhurt you, and who have caused you great pain and maybe loss. RememberPeter ask Jesus in Matthew 18:21-22, "How often should I forgive mybrother? Seven times?” Jesus answers and says no, forgive him seventy times seven. That's how often you forgive the brother that sins against you and offends youand hurts you. Seventy time seven—that's limitless. That means you forget tocount after a while and you continue to forgive no matter what. Why and how? BecauseGod forgave you in Christ Jesus! And instead of talking evil against the personand being bitter. Overthe years, the hardest and most difficult thing for me to deal with is bitterpeople. People who are full of bitterness because they feel like they've beenoffended. They have become a victim. It's everyone else's fault, and always blamingothers for their problems and attitudes. But my friend, the greatest blessingis to meet and know someone who has been hurt and been offended, yet likeCorrie ten Boom who forgave that guard who abused her and caused death to herfamily, they have forgiven the person who deeply hurt them. Ohmy friend, through the grace of God we can forgive others, and we need to dothat. I love the story of Joseph in the last chapters of Genesis and how histen brothers threw him in a pit. They thought to kill him, but instead theysold him into slavery and they thought it was over. Then they lied to theirfather and said a beast must have killed him. You know the story how laterafter they were reconciled to their brother and after their father died inGenesis 50, they go to Joseph and they say, "Our father told us to cometo you again and ask for your forgiveness." And Joseph replied, "AmI in the place of God?" He went on to say, "Listen, you mighthave meant it for evil, but God meant it for good. And I'm not only going toforgive you. You don't need to be afraid. I'm going to provide for you." Bythe way, that's another evidence that you have been forgiven. You are willingto do good and “provide” to others who have deeply hurt and offended you. Why?Because God has been good to you through your forgiveness. My friend, I sure hopeand pray that we take this lesson to heart. It's one of the biggest, greatest, most powerful lessons in the Bible. There are over thirteen passages in the NewTestament encouraging us to forgive one another. In Matthew 6:14-15 Jesus said,"For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father willalso forgive you. But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither willyour Father forgive your trespasses.” HasGod spoken to your heart today? Is there someone you need to forgive because ofthe pain, the hurt, the bitterness in your heart that wells up inside of youwhen you think of them? You can because of the grace of God you haveexperienced! You need to see them in Christ. Remember God loves them. Christdied for them, and God wants them to have the salvation you have. Yes,my friend, you have the ability and power to forgive when you have experienced, and you know God's forgiveness for your sins. And if you can't forgive others, maybe you need to check out whether you have truly been forgiven or notyourself. Please think about these things today! Godbless!
Send us a textChapters:[00:00] Introduction: The Two Competing NarrativesThe video opens by posing the central question: Is rescheduling cannabis to Schedule 3 a victory for the industry or a deceptive political trap? The host introduces the two extreme viewpoints—one of political grandstanding and the other of a "Big Pharma" takeover.[01:07] Understanding Schedule 1: "Maximum Security Prison for Substances"This section explains the current, restrictive classification of cannabis. What is Schedule 1? It's the most restrictive category for drugs with "no currently accepted medical use and a high potential for abuse," placing cannabis in the same category as heroin. The Absurdity: The host points out that this classification is scientifically dishonest, as the federal government considers cannabis more dangerous than cocaine or ketamine (Schedule 2).[01:52] The Push for Rescheduling: A "Monumental Step"The discussion shifts to the Biden administration's move to re-evaluate cannabis scheduling.[02:48] The "Win" Scenario: Potential Positive ImpactsThis chapter explores the benefits that advocates for rescheduling are highlighting.Reducing Stigma: A federal acknowledgment of medical value would help destigmatize cannabis use.Boosting Research: Universities would be less fearful of losing federal funding, potentially leading to a new "golden age" of medical cannabis research.Major Tax Relief: The most significant impact would be the elimination of the 280E tax code, which currently prevents cannabis businesses from taking normal deductions. This could be a massive financial lifeline for the industry.[03:30] The "Scam" Scenario: A Trojan Horse for Big Pharma? Here, the video presents the counter-argument from skeptics.Prescription-Only Panic: The core fear is that Schedule 3 makes cannabis a prescription drug, potentially rendering thousands of state-legal dispensaries illegal overnight.FDA Takeover: This narrative suggests the move is a ploy to hand control of the entire industry to the FDA and large pharmaceutical companies.[05:28] The Truth Is in the Middle: It's Just PoliticsThe host argues that both extreme narratives are overblown. Not a Win, Not a Scam: The reality is a complex bureaucratic shuffle, not a final victory or a hostile takeover.Kicking the Can to Congress: Rescheduling is a way for politicians to appear proactive while leaving the fundamental legal conflicts for Congress to resolve.[06:22] The Real-World Changes (and What Stays the Same)This section breaks down the three most tangible impacts of rescheduling.Symbolic Victory: A landmark shift in federal perspective.Tax Relief (280E): The most powerful, immediate change for businesses. The Legal Conflict Continues: The state vs. federal law conflict remains, and dispensaries are still not compliant with the Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act (FDCA) without FDA approval.[08:06] The Bottom Line: The Fight Isn't OverThe video concludes by emphasizing that this move is political theater. True, lasting change for cannabis freedom requires legislative action from Congress to create a clear, legal framework for the industry to operate within.[09:25] Call to Action & Final ThoughtsThe host encourages viewers to stay informed, like and share the video, and check out another video detailiSupport the showGet our newsletter: https://bit.ly/3VEn9vu
Paul writes, "Grace to you and peace from God ourFather and the Lord Jesus Christ." We could spend several weeks juston this one small verse, that starts with the word grace. The word graceis used 12 times in the book of Ephesians. It refers to the kindness of Godtoward undeserving people. Some people abbreviate that by saying that grace is God'sunmerited favor. That's what grace is. Overthe years I have also expanded the description of Biblical grace to say thatgrace is God giving us everything we need to be able to fulfill and do the willof God and to find fulfillment in Christ Jesus. Peter said it this way: “Graceand peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord, asHis divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue, by which havebeen given to us exceedingly great and precious promises, that through theseyou may be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption thatis in the world through lust” (2 Peter 1:2-4). Whenyou read through Paul's epistles you will notice that he begins every letterwith the greeting, “grace to you and peace from God our Father and the LordJesus Christ”. Paul is really big on God's grace. Paul finishes everyletter speaking of God's grace; “Grace be unto you from our Lord JesusChrist”. Next time you read through Paul's epistles be sure to notice this.Grace is a big thing with the Apostle Paul because it's a big thing with God. TheBible tells us in John chapter 1 that the law was given by Moses, but grace andtruth came by Jesus Christ. You want to know what God's grace is? Look full inthe face of Jesus Christ and there you'll see God's grace because what you needis found in Christ. That's why Paul mentions grace and peace together so often. Now tomorrow we're going to talk about peace with God and the peace of God. Buttoday we are looking at God's grace. As I said, we desperately need God's graceto be all that we should be for the glory of God. Graceis God giving us the desire to be saved. One of the most famous verses in theNew Testament is Ephesians 2:8- 9. “For by grace are you saved through faithand that not of yourselves. It's the gift of God, not of works, lest any manshould boast.” A person does not get saved without God giving you thegrace, giving you the desire to be saved. And when does God give you the desireto be saved? We find the answer to that in James 4:6, and also 1 Peter 5:5-6. Andthey both quote the same thing out of the Old Testament book of Proverbs 3:34. Thisis where Solomon wrote that God gives grace to the humble. Jamesand Peter in their verses make it clear that “God resists the proud, but Hegives grace to the humble”. When we humble ourselves, when we have contritehearts. When we are broken. When we become desperate for God and the peace ofGod recognizing our great need of God's forgiveness for our sin, it is thenthat God looks down upon our humble heart and He gives us grace. First, Hegives us the desire to get saved and then He gives us the willingness to getsaved and then He actually saves us by His grace. Oneof my favorite verses about grace is found in 1 Corinthians 15:10, where theApostle Paul proclaims, "But by the grace of God, I am what I am. AndHis grace toward me was not in vain, but I labored more abundantly than theyall. Yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me." Paul acknowledges that, "EverythingI am and everything I hope to be and everything I have accomplished for thepurposes of God is only by His grace”. Yes,my friend it is God's grace that gives us the desire, the power, the ability todo what God wants us to do. That's why Paul would write in all his letters and say,"Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord JesusChrist." Everything we really need today comes from Him.
