Air Wisconsin Halts Scheduled Flights, Future Uncertain American Airlines' 5-year contract with Air Wisconsin for regional capacity has ended. The April 3, 2025 breakup was announced last January, when Air Wisconsin President and CEO Robert Binns noted that the airline is making a “strategic shift” to focus on government-subsidized Essential Air Service flying and charter operations. To date, the airline has been unsuccessful in winning any EAS contracts. The CBE has released the Balance of Payment (BoP)'s performance report for FY2023/24. Key points are:The overall BoP recorded a surplus of c.USD9.7 bn during FY 2023/24.Egypt's current account deficit more than quadrupled, surging to USD 20.8 bn.The oil trade balance surged to USD8 bn deficit in FY2023/24, compared to a USD 410 mn surplus in FY2022/23.The non-oil trade deficit was flat, registering USD31.9 bn in FY2023/24.Suez Canal lost a quarter of its previous year revenues, triggered by regional disruptions, falling by 24.3% in FY2023/24, recording USD6.6 bn.Remittances from Egyptians abroad were almost flat as well, recording USD21.94 bn in FY2023/24.Tourism revenues increased by 5.5% YoY, to USD 14.38 bn in FY2023/24.Net FDI inflows more than tripled YoY recording a record-high USD46 bn in FY2023/24 fueled by Ras Al-Hekma inflows.Net portfolio inflows recorded a net inflow of USD 14.5 bn during FY2023/24, compared to a net outflow of USD3.8 bn in the previous year. The IMF is likely to conduct the fourth review of our USD8 bn loan program in November, a government source said. Minister of Planning said that priority in the FY2024/25 budget's development plan has been given to establishing and expanding water and food security projects. The Council agreed on the draft budget for FY 2024-25, as well as the budgets of public economic bodies, in preparation for sending them to the House of Representatives. George Soro's son apparently has access to the highest ranking honchos of the Biden White House. This according to the New York Post: A son of billionaire George Soros has quietly become a de-facto White House “ambassador,” making at least 14 visits there on behalf of the far-left kingmaker since President Joe Biden took office, records reviewed by The Post show. Alexander Soros — a prolific Democratic fundraiser in his own right who likes to boast about his relationships with world leaders on social media — scored at least a dozen meetings with White House officials in 2022, according to recently updated White House visitor logs. Soros, 37, also participated in two other confabs there in late 2021, the records show. His latest trips include visiting Dec. 1 with then-White House Chief of Staff Ron Klain's advisor, Nina Srivastava, who also worked on Biden's presidential campaign, the logs show. With Michigan's financial books for FY2022 now closed, a formal announcement came last week that the state income tax rate would drop from 4.25 percent to 4.05 percent for tax year 2023 due to a rate cut trigger added to state law in 2015. However, a new Attorney General legal opinion has determined that any rate cut would be temporary, with the rate returning to 4.25 percent for tax year 2024. Our “plain English” interpretation of what appears to be flawed statutory language also suggests the rate will very likely need to return to 4.25 percent in 2024.

Zscaler delivered an impressive earnings report to cap off their fiscal year, demonstrating their ability to capitalize on strong demand for their leading Zero Trust solution. Coming into the report, investors were concerned about decelerating billings, worsening operating leverage and the need to provide an out of cycle fiscal year guide. Additionally, competitors like Palo Alto and Cloudflare had been increasingly vocal about customer wins.
