When the Powell's two young sons, Charlie, 4, and Braden, 2, didn't show up at daycare and Susan didn't show up at work, their friends and family were instantly worried. Hours later, Josh was reached on his cell phone. He said he'd left at 1 am and taken his sons camping despite the cold and snowy conditions while Susan stayed home. Josh assumed she went to work. True Crime Podcast 2024 - REAL Police Interrogations, 911 Calls, True Police Stories and True Crime

The Powell Family Tragedy - True Crime Documentary THE SAD STORY OF POWELL FAMILY. Josh killed himself and his two sons in a planned blast in 2012, three years after his wife Susan Cox Powell vanished. Susan was allegedly murdered, and her husband was a person of interest in the investigation. Josh was only allowed supervised visits with his kids, but when they were dropped off, he shoved the supervisor out the door and set fire to the house. Within three minutes, firefighters arrived, but it was too late. The horrifying circumstances of the brutal double murder added to the already troubling nature of the case. The bodies of the boys, Charlie, 7, and Braden, 5, were discovered with injuries that showed Powell attempted to kill them with a hatchet before setting fire to his Graham, Washington rental property. The boys' injuries were discovered in their autopsy, according to Melissa Baker of the Pierce County Medical Examiner's Office, despite the fact that they died of carbon monoxide poisoning. Susan Powell was last seen alive on Sunday, December 9, 2009, after attending church. She didn't show up for work the next day, and no one dropped off the boys, who were four and two at the time, at daycare. Susan's keys, wallet, and cell phone were discovered at the family's home in West Valley City, Utah. Susan's body was never discovered.

Cristina Olvera was known for her delicious tamales over the years, but it wasn't until 2019 that she decided to go all in on her aspiring catering company. To obtain the licensing and qualifications necessary to operate her small business, she took over a humble restaurant at a swap meet in West Valley City (Salt Lake City), Utah making classic Mexican dishes like tacos, tortas, and of course her tamales.   A few months later in early 2020, on a day when the total sales of the restaurant amounted to $11, daughter Frida Guerrero had the idea to bring excitement and buzz to the restaurant with the addition of trending birria tacos–completely new to the menu at La Casa Del Tamal and practically unknown to locals in Salt Lake City. Guerrero reassured her mother that her birria was the best she had ever tasted and that everyone who tried them would love them, but Cristina had her hesitations.    Thanks to word of mouth, social media, and the irresistible menu items, La Casa Del Tamal quickly became one of Salt Lake City's most beloved restaurants, with a long line of food enthusiasts each day waiting for their turn to try the coveted birria tacos.    Today La Casa Del Tamal can be found at their new location on 5600 West in West Valley City and the Olvera family has more exciting plans on the way which we fully detail in this episode.    Resources: Follow La Casa Del Tamal on Instagram Follow Female Foodie on Instagram
