Fans have to suffer the consequences of the HBCU Combine poorly promoting the results of the event, and Johnson C Smith defeating Fayetteville State is the first upset of the CIAA tournament. Howard's loss to Morgan State was irrelevant because Norfolk State also lost. HBCU combine has done a poor job of promoting the results of the event, and the fans are the ones who must suffer the consequences. I understand the point of the event is for the players, but fans want to feel included as well. There's no reason finding the list of participants or results should be difficult to find. Johnson C Smith defeating Fayetteville State is the first upset of the CIAA tournament. The Golden Bulls won because of physicality and a bizarre 4th quarter. Howard's loss to Morgan State was irrelevant because Norfolk State also lost. Still, this was a great game that saw MSU explode for 61 2nd half points. North Carolina A&T's Men's Track & Field team just made history ranking at #1 in the USTFCCA poll. This is the first time an HBCU team has ranked #1 in a non HBCU national poll. They're led by the Olympian Randolph Ross, but they have a lot of talent on that team. Including multiple top 10 national rankings. Alabama A&M's Aqeel Glass wasn't at the HBCU Combine because he was at the NFLPA bowl showing out. He was alternating so it might have been difficult to get a rhythm. If it was, he didn't show it. He went 9 for 11 on the day for 141 yards and a TD. His performance was enough to "make sure scouts recognize his name and game by the end of the night", according to nfl.com. We previewed some players heading into the HBCU Combine. Let's check on these players' performances at the Combine. We take a look at Keyshawn James of Fayetteville State, Jah Maine Martin of North Carolina A&T, and Ezra Gray of Alabama State. Support Us By Supporting Our Sponsors! I'm fresh out of Alabama from the HBCU Combine. With the absence of Aqeel Glass, all eyes were on Alcorn State's Felix Harper and Norfolk State's Juwan Carter. They threw right after each other and put on a show. We have soundbites from both guys as we break down their friendly competition and their performances. There were 4 players who really popped during the combine and I highlight the quality of each player that made them standout. The players were Shemar Bridges of Fort Valley State, Will Adams of Virginia State, La'Darius Skelton of Southern, and James Fagan of Hampton. Then finally I give my personal experience at the combine. The players weren't the only ones there. I give some standout moments, like everyone struggling with the weather. I also say what went well and somethings that can be improved on for next year Support Us By Supporting Our Sponsors! Built Bar Built Bar is a protein bar that tastes like a candy bar. We start the episode with our Feature Friday. We explore the story of Ezra Gray, a participant in the HBCU combine. He has an interesting story from his lack of recruitment to staying at Alabama State through the turmoil. Then we look at who he is as a player. Then we look at the underrated players at the HBCU Combine. Juwan Carter from Norfolk State, Trey Gross from Delaware State, and Chad Gilchrist from South Carolina State made the list. We look at what they all bring to the table. Lastly, the HBCU Combine is tomorrow. What should you expect to see and happen at the event. It is a quite literal combine not a glorified or super pro day. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices

FAMU is winner of 5 straight and near the top of the SWAC in basketball. This winning streak includes wins over Grambling and Alcorn State, 2 of the top teams in the conference. The biggest thing this streak does is inspire confidence in the team and fan base. We're back at it with previewing the HBCU combine. This time around we're taking a look at the defensive prospects. We're looking at Keyshawn James from Fayetteville State, Unatereo Johnson from Bethune Cookman, and Antwan Collier out of FAMU. I see a lot of potential with these guys. MEAC had some athletes who had great weeks on the track, field, and the court. We take the time to shine a light on those who excelled in their respective sport within the conference. Interim Head Coach Douglas Whittler has Morehouse on a roll. After losing 2 of the first 3 conference games, they have rattled off 9 straight victories. One of those games even includes a non conference game vs University of West Georgia. This run of games has placed them among the top class of the SIAC. It was already rumored that Hampton would be going to the CAA, but now it is official. This is a partnership that actually makes sense with both the school and conference placing a heavy emphasis on academics. This is a move 30 years in the making for Hampton president Dr. William R Harvey, and he's accomplished it right before he retired. There will be a lot of athletes at the HBCU Combine. Today we focus on strictly the offensive prospects, and give 3 players to watch out for. These players come from Alabama A&M & North Carolina A&T. There's also a little bit of background on each player. Support Us By Supporting Our Sponsors! Built Bar Built Bar is a protein bar that tastes like a candy bar. Jackson State women just dominated FAMU in their last game, 90-34. I knew they were dominant but this is a different level. They shut down the FAMU offense including one of the best scorers in the SWAC, Dylan Horton. Horton struggled to get going and so did FAMU. Coppin State bounced back from a loss and stunned Howard late in the game. We break down the late game possession that earned the Eagles the win. Then we look at other plays at the end of each half to pull out that victory. UAB has made it a mission to boost up HBCUs over the last couple of years. Last year, they hosted the first HBCU Combine and now they will be hosting HBCUs during football season for the foreseeable future. NC A&T is getting a great deal in the game too, distinguishing it from just another game. Support Us By Supporting Our Sponsors! Built Bar Built Bar is a protein bar that tastes like a candy bar. On LGHL's Play Like a Girl podcast, Meredith Hein and Kelsey Trainor talk everything from Ohio State football to all the happenings in the sports world today. On this week's edition of Play Like a Girl, Kelsey and Meredith talk the just-announced HBCU Combine, scheduled to open January 2022 in conjunction with the Reese's Senior Bowl. Despite a history of great players coming out of HBCUs (Jerry Rice, Michael Strahan and Walter Payton, to name a few), no players were drafted from HBCUs in the 2021 NFL Draft. The pair also talk about Nina King's promotion to athletic director at Duke — literally, SUCH a great hire.
