I know it's been a while but what an amazing interview with Ansley Almonor from FaIrleigh Dickinson University. Ansley is a member of the FaIrleigh Dickinson basketball team which was the second team in NCAA history to knock off a 1 seed! The first time this happened was in 2018 with UMBC (16) knocking off UVA (1). As I said on the show I was in Europe and I woke up at 1 am to see the final minutes of the Purdue game so, of course, I had to get a FaIrleigh Dickinson player on the show to describe this experience. Ansley talks about his experience as a basketball player and how his team was able to shut down Zach Edey (Purdue Center) who is 7 feet 4 inches. Purdue shot a poor percentage from the field and this allowed FaIrleigh Dickinson to capitalize along with win the game. A huge thank you to Ansley for joining me on JacksonSherSportsRadio it's not every day that you see a 16-seed knock off a 1-seed, so be sure to listen to this episode! --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/jackson-sher/message

We start by discussing what Notre Dame's top spring football priority should be. We have other topics as well, including: * If I told you Marcus Freeman will be as successful over the next two seasons as Niele Ivey has been over her last two seasons...what does that look like for Freeman? * Mets closer Edwin Diaz blew out his knee while celebrating a World Baseball Classic win last week and Astros second baseman Jose Altuve also suffered a fractured thumb during the WBC. A lot of people are saying they shouldn't be playing it. Which option do you like better...keep it where it is...move it to November or get rid of it? * Today is March 21st . If you've seen the Purge movies you know that's the annual day of "The Purge". If you could purge one thing from sports what would it be? * Doug Gottleib says he would leave his radio job for the right college basketball head coaching position. Who would you rather have...Gottleib or Fairleigh Dickinson head coach Tobin Anderson (Side note: Anderson has already reportedly been hired by Iona)? * Fill-in the blank: It's BLANK that women's No. 1 seeds Stanford and Indiana both lost in the second round of the tournament. * Miami guard Destiny Hardin dropped an F bomb live on ESPN2 last night after beating Indiana. Do you blame Hardin for dropping it or ESPN for letting it slip through?  Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices

(00:00 - 13:46) - The new Colts Offensive Coordinator Jim Bob Cooter joins the show early. This is his second stint in Indianapolis as he was here before in 2009 as an Offensive Assistant. Cooter is excited to be working with Gardner Minshew again. As a staff the offense is looking to evaluate every position at this point in the off season. What does Cooter's game week look like knowing that he is not calling plays this season. The excitement of pro-days is something he looks forward to as it is the beginning of building bonds with new players.     (13:47 - 34:51) - Joel Erickson of the Indy Star calls in to talk about the Colts and the NFL Pro-day. Erickson will also be covering the owner's meeting next week. Erickson wants to know if the Colts are going to be comfortable taking a rookie quarterback and seeing how they turn out as opposed to competing for the division. The fan base clearly wants to see results next season, but a rookie quarterback might not produce those results right away. The Colts should address more positions in free agency, so they don't feel pressured in the draft. This year's draft is short on Wide Receivers which is unlike many of the previous years.    (34:52 - 1:00:45) - Dane Fife, former IU player and assistant coach joins the program to talk some NCAA basketball. Fife saw Purdue lose live to the sixteenth seed Fairleigh Dickinson. He feels like coaches probably feel more excitement around the tournament than players. Fife saw the ball start rolling against Purdue, and no one had the ability to stop it. Query wants to know if there is a certain style of play a team can have to dominate across all leagues, and not just their respective conference. Fife doesn't know if there is any certain team make up that could guarantee a team success. The key is one player who can always buy you a bucket. In this episode of the Podcast of Champions hosts Ryan Abraham and David Woods are back to talk about the disappointing opening weekend for the Pac-12 in the NCAA basketball tournament, with three of the four programs that made it to the Big Dance getting bounced out on Thursday/Friday. Arizona State did get a win in the First Four to advance to the field of 64, but lost a tough one against TCU. USC looked flat yet again and had no answers for tournament tested Michigan State who once again made it to the Sweet 16. The biggest flop came early on Thursday with Arizona as a No. 2 seed succumbing to No. 15 Princeton, which would have been the biggest upset of the tournament had it not been for No. 1 Purdue losing to No. 16 Fairleigh Dickinson. The UCLA Bruins are the only Pac-12 program left in the field (unless you want to count San Diego State) and they will face off against Gonzaga in Las Vegas on Thursday. For the third season in a row the Bruins will face the Bulldogs having lost in Final Four of 2021 and in T-Mobile Arena last season. Overall UCLA is 2-5 against the Zags with three of those games in the NCAA Tournament. The guys also talk about the latest rumors in the Pac-12 media rights negotiations saga, with the presidents of Arizona and Arizona State making statements about the deal being nearly done and still not a peep out of commissioner George Kliavkoff. Will he be able to pull off a lucrative deal that makes enough money for each athletic department to keep them competitive and also have enough exposure to keep West Coast football relevant? It appears that some sort of deal with ESPN, Amazon and Apple could accomplish that, but until something is announced we continue to await the fate of the Conference of Champions. We saw a lot of pivotal games including some major upsets in the first two rounds. The #1 seed Purdue Boilermakers fell to the #16 seed Fairleigh Dickinson Knights causing more heartbreak for the Purdue fans. Another early exit with a talented team has baffled the pod as Purdue coach Matt Painter can't seem to get it right. This year's tournament has not been friendly to the blue bloods either as Kansas, Duke & Kentucky have all been bounced in the round of 32 making the fellas question as which team can get back on track the quickest. The Texas Longhorns have been battling hard for interim head coach Rodney Terry and, to everyone's surprise, the Ivy League's very own Princeton Tigers are making noise as a #15 seed, beating not only #7 ranked Mizzou but also #2 ranked Arizona in the first round. The Arkansas Razorbacks head basketball coach Eric Musselman was very happy to make the sweet sixteen, shown by his disregard for upper body clothing when the Razorbacks advanced.Lastly, in news of the weird, a Texas A&M player has an interesting NIL deal & a very old clam has been discovered.1:00 The Sweet Sixteen is set4:50 Purdue's collapse against #16 seed Fairleigh Dickinson12:33 The Blue Bloods are out of the tournament17:53 18:10 Why are more upsets taking place in the tournament than before?22:37 Eric Musselman goes shirtless after beating #1 ranked Kansas25:20 Who can take down the Alabama Crimson Tide?29:30 Has Rodney Terry secured his future with Texas?33:45 #15 Princeton is making noise this tournament38:30 Ross may have struck gold with his Tennessee pick42:10 Purdue didn't like Fairleigh Dickinson's Tobin Anderson's comments before their game45:15 Matt Damon is playing Sonny Vaccaro in a new movie54:07 Texas A&M's Jalen Preston signs a bail bonds NIL deal55:30 A man in Florida found a special quahog clamStay up to date with the latest college football news and coverage from Yahoo Sports on Twitter @YahooSportsCFB.Follow Dan @DanWetzelFollow Pat @ByPatFordeFollow Ross @RossDellengerCheck out all the episodes of the College Football Enquirer and the rest of the Yahoo Sports podcast family at https://apple.co/3zEuTQj or at Yahoo Sports PodcastsSee Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

(00:00-23:49) – The Fan Midday Show opens on a Monday with Jimmy Cook and Dane Fife breaking down Indiana's loss to Miami last night, what Trayce Jackson-Davis has meant to the culture of IU going forward, and how disappointing it was that IU lost in the way they did when you factor in their core principles of how they want to play. (23:49-40:54) – Jimmy and Dane shift their conversation to the historic loss for the Purdue Boilermakers against Fairleigh Dickinson, what Dane would have done if he was Matt Painter to see if Purdue could make a run, and they debate how likely it is that Zach Edey returns for his final season of eligibility for the Boilermakers.   (39:33-44:05) – Hour one concludes with Jimmy, Dane, and producer Eddie Garrison discussing some of the coaching moves that are starting to come to fruition. (44:05-1:08:12) – The first guest on today's show in Joel Erickson of the IndyStar joins Jimmy and Dane on the Midday Show to give an update on what his NCAA bracket looks like, if drafting Anthony Richardson would buy Chris Ballard more time considering how raw of a QB he is, does the signing of Gardner Minshew mean he's the starting quarterback on week one for the Colts, and discusses if there are any scenarios that the Colts would not select a QB with the fourth overall pick. (1:08:12-1:23:32) – GoldAndBlack.com's Brian Neubert joins Jimmy and Dane to give his opinion on what Dane said regarding what Matt Painter and the coaching staff should have tried to do to gain some momentum, when it really became real that Purdue was going to possibly going to lose to FDU, and how his recovery is going. (1:23:32-1:27:23) – The one o'clock hour concludes with Eddie finally playing the Michigan State fight song for Dane, but he doesn't put his headphones on to hear it or sing along to it. Then admits that Eddie has made his way up his friendship ladder. (1:27:23-1:50:40) – Bally Sport Indiana's Chris Denari is the next guest on today's edition of the Fan Midday Show with Jimmy and Dane to highlight the final big road trip of the season for the Pacers, how much of an asset James Johnson and George Hill are to the team with their prominent players being so young, and the challenges the coaching staff has right now with Bennedict Mathurin and Tyrese Haliburton being injured while the team is trying to make a push for the play-in tournament. (1:50:40-2:10:11) – Brendan Quinn of The Athletic joins Jimmy and Dane on a Monday to give his perspective on what Ed Cooley going to Georgetown means for the landscape of college basketball, why he bets against Big Ten teams when it comes to the NCAA Tournament, why it's outrageous for Boilermaker fans to want Matt Painter fired, and who he has winning the tournament. (2:07:46-2:10:34) – Jimmy closes out today's show in quick fashion by thanking today's guests and previewed tomorrow's show!See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

It's certainly not the most fun mostly annual tradition, but the podcast is back to talk about Duke's loss to Tennessee on Saturday, a loss that ends Jon Scheyer's first season in the head coaching role. We dive deep into how the Volunteers dismantled Duke on defense. The Blue Devils had their lowest first half scoring output of the season, and without Mark Mitchell, Duke didn't have enough playmakers to counter Tennessee's attack at either end. Turnovers returned to plague Duke in a way we thought Scheyer's squad had shored up given their performance in the first round. All that said, we have to spend a few minutes on the officiating, which most of us were not thrilled with. It was an overly physical game, and Duke couldn't figure out how to overcome the circumstances. After the break, we have to touch on Duke Blue Planet's feature video on Dereck Lively II and his mother and on Purdue's loss to Fairleigh Dickinson in the first round of the tournament. We'll be back on a future episode to recap the season and speculate about all of the players' pending NBA draft decisions, but until then, stay in touch with us via email and we will talk to you again very soon. (00:00 - 27:21) - The Fan MidDay Show is LIVE in the Bottleworks District today. Inside the Garage Food Hall the show opens up with Jimmy Cook and Brian Noe discussing the Indianapolis Colts signing of quarterback Gardner Minshew. He comes to Indy from the Philadelphia Eagles after spending two seasons as their backup. Noe believes that Minshew is a decent signing for the Colts as he is a decent talent and saves the team some valuable cap space. Is there a massive gap in talent between the top four quarterback names being thrown around in the 2023 NFL draft? Would signing a new quarterback make the fan base impatient if the team draftet a quarterback as well? Princeton's miraculous upset over Arizona in the first round of the NCAA Tournament last night. (27:22 - 40:33) - Cook and Noe dig into the Purdue and Fairleigh Dickinson matchup happening later today. Dickinson's head coach talked a big game saying they think beating Purdue is a strong possibility. Why did Brandon Miller play in the first round if he is nursing a groin injury? As a 1 seed team Alabama could have afforded to sit a star player for their first game. The colors of the courts in this tournament seem to be a bit off.    (40:34 - 49:48) - Noe thinks that both IU and Purdue will be defined by their consistency in this NCAA Tournament. Kent State is seen as a rough matchup for IU, Cook wants to see the Hoosiers attack early and often to set Kent State on their heels early. While Purdue has a substantially easier matchup, they have to leave their frustrations over foul calls at the door this game and just go out and play strong basketball.   (49:49 - 1:20:00) - Kevin Bowen of The Fan morning show Kevin & Query joins the program at the start of the second hour, the three hosts all comment on the variety of activites you can engage in at The Garage in the Bottleworks district. Then Bowman discusses how he feels about IU's chances tonight. He believes that a couple of players will have to get going in order for others to follow suit. If Trace Jackson-Davis or Miller Kopp can start hot then the rest of the team should be able to match that energy. Kent State will not be timid against IU tonight, as they have played very well against high ranked opponents and are riding high off their MAC Tournament win. Pivotting to football Bowman thinks that Minshew joining the Colts is going to be a solid addition to the team right now. Minshew played under the Colts new headcoach Shane Steichen in Philadelphia. Despite the addition the conversation of how is Indianapolis going to protect its quarterback is still up in the air. (1:20:01 - 1:34:35) - Recapping some of the fun basketball stories that have come from this NCAA Tournament. 14th ranked Kennesaw State, who at the time of recording was up over the 3rd ranked Xavier had their first nationally televised home basketball game this season. Keyontae Johnson who collapsed during a game with a large heart in 2020 is passing on a 5 million dollar insurance payment in order to pursue an NBA career. Noe and Cook go over the current tournament games being played, and if there are any appealing bets to be placed. (1:34:36 - 1:38:41) - A fan gifted the guys a drink on this St. Patrick's Day episode of the MidDay Show. The guys close out the hour with more conversation over Colts latest signee Gardner Minshew and comparisons to who else they could have signed. (1:38:42 - 2:05:02) Coach Seth Greenberg is on the show to talk about the NCAA Tournament and immediately addresses the Kennesaw State vs. Xavier situation saying that the Musketeers are just getting "out toughed" by the Owls. Greenberg is confident that IU will win their contest tonight against Kent State. The Hoosier's strong guard game is a noticeable advantage to him. He is similarly hopeful for Purdue, but notes that their schedule gets difficult quickly as a win tonight immediately puts them against either Memphis or Florida Atlantic, then Duke or Tennessee will be after that. After the interview there is more deconstruction of IU and Purdue's matchups. Cook references a relevant statistic pertaining to NCAA Champions regular season 3 point percentage. IU's three point percentage is within the range of those National Champion teams, while Purdue has not. Purdue shoots plenty of threes. but they are not hitting nearly as many. Noe received a "career ending" handshake yesterday during JMv's show.  (2:05:03 - 2:19:20) - Xavier managed to comeback and tie the game up, live updates on the program. Noe admits to Kyle, the Bottleworks Manager, that his handshake caused an injury yesterday. Noe and Cook take the time to interview Kyle about the development of The Garage Food Hall and how they managed to build up a fantastic eatery in the downtown area. The three men then sort of run down the bracket and see who has been making the right picks so far this tournament. (2:19:21 - 2:22:42) - J Cook's Plays of the Day and closing conversation.   See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
