On the one hundred and sixty-second episode of THE THIRD ACT PODCAST the crew is filtering out the fool's gold. For our new release review we talk about a heady thriller from Charlie Kaufman, I'M THINKING OF ENDING THINGS. We pair that with another film exploring identity and loneliness, THE MEETINGS OF ANNA. Finally, for our Auteurography series on Nicolas Roeg we talk about the sprawling soap opera-esque, EUREKA. We also discuss being drinks, manic intellectual dream girls, and meat cleavers. The psychologist Yoel Inbar has always tried to imbue his work with a sort of interiority, and now he joins us for a deep dive into Charlie Kaufman’s baffling and distressing new film “I’m Thinking of Ending Things.” Why does Jessie Buckley’s name and career keep changing? What’s going on with the dog? Why are the parents unstuck in time? Don’t worry you’ll get home, we have tire chains in the trunk. Plus, aliens, open science, and the illuminati. It’s all connected. Special Guest: Yoel Inbar.

Is it better to have Inkoo Kang on an episode where she likes the movie or hates the movie? Well, we’re certainly not going to find out about the former because we’re talking about Charlie Kaufman’s I’m Thinking of Ending Things. This film is a bit…how-you-say….divisive? Listen to hear which side each host stands on. Inkoo also illuminates some very important details of the ’90 Day Fiancé’ oeuvre. We answer a question from the ‘Who Shotline’ about directors making films outside of their usual genre. Sedan 2017 har Marvels mörka X-men-spin-off THE NEW MUTANTS varit på tapeten. Vi har även sett den Dvd/Blu-ray aktuella THE TRUE STORY OF THE KELLY GANG.

Christopher Nolan's TENET. The film that inspired our recent Nolan Oeuvre-view - the film that the entire movie theater industry has been resting its hopes on - was bound to disappoint some. Unfortunately, some of those disappointed moviegoers include Adam and Josh, who both found Nolan's film to be more style than substance. But there is considerable style, and its clever, if perplexing, time inversion plot offers a fascinating counter-point to Nolan's breakthrough "Memento." They also get a mental workout from Charlie Kaufman's latest, I'M THINKING OF ENDING THINGS, which hit Netflix this weekend. Rising star Jessie Buckley is a young woman whose identity comes into question when she takes a road trip with her boyfriend to visit his parents. We're not usually happy to see another podcast enter this increasingly crowded market, but we'll make an exception for Alan Partridge. This week sees the launch of the first Partridgecast, an Audible Original series entitled Alan Partridge: From The Oasthouse, and to mark the occasion, Chris Hewitt has a very special Zoom audience with the man who is Alan, Steve Coogan. Needless to say, you'll have the last laugh. Then, in an episode that flips the pod-format on its head, Chris is joined by Helen O'Hara, Amon Warmann, and James Dyer to pay an extended tribute to the late, great Chadwick Boseman. They also discuss the latest No Time To Die trailer and more in the News section, talk about their experiences back in the cinema in the listener question section, and review Mulan, The New Mutants, and Charlie Kaufman's brain-baking I'm Thinking Of Ending Things. Enjoy.
