The Movie Madness Podcast is celebrating its 500th episode with a conversation 20 years in the making. Erik Childress has had many conversations with his guest over the years, but this one is a look back at where Nick Digilio and him were in their lives in 2004 when they, respectively, named Sideways and Garden State as their favorite films of that year. They talk about why those films were so personal to them, almost exactly ten years apart in their respective ages, at the time and if revisiting them two decades later is the same experience. The conversation veers into personal struggles, “manic pixie dream girls”, lost opportunities and soundtracks.

Astrologers are ringing the alarms for August, but we're here to give you a more grounded look at the cosmic landscape. We're learning this month that your ability to love and commit to anything - a person, a hobby, a job, a pet, anything! - is worth the pain and imperfections. The joy you derive from the things you love and commit to, despite their flaws, is essential for your growth and resilience. This is an important month to seek clarity in the actions and intentions of others. If you practice empathy, you can better understand why others act the way they do, which can help you find healthy ways of loving them through both "better" and "worse" scenarios. Even if something you love must come to an "end" this month, that doesn't mean you failed to love it "for better or for worse." What matters is having the experience of loving something that much at all. Once you do, it becomes an unchangeable part of your reality. It transcends all timelines. It will have always existed, and will always exist. In which the Mister and Monsters join me in reviewing ETERNAL SUNSHINE OF THE SPOTLESS MIND (2004), which we caught on the TCM app but you can buy/rent from several platforms. Written by Charlie Kaufman, Michel Gondry and Pierre Bismuth and winner of the 2005 Original Screenplay Oscar, this film is directed by Michel Gondry. The story follows Joel (Jim Carrey), a painfully shy man who meets a free spirited young woman named Clementine (Best Actress Nominee, Kate Winslet). They fall in love but eventually their relationship withers and dies. Clem decides to have Joel completely erased from her memory and when he finds out he opts to do the same out of hurt and spite. In the process, he realizes the error and tries to come up with a way to stop it but it might just be too late. A powerful script with brilliant acting and sublime directing by Gondry make this a MUST WATCH. The film clocks in at 1 h and 48 m and is rated R. Please note there are SPOILERS in this review. Heralded as “the man with the rubber face”, and overflowing with improvisational comedy, Jim Carrey Is definitely one of our favorite funnymen! In 1998, Jim Carrey changed the game with his revelation of a performance in The Truman Show. A movie that was ahead of its time predicting the future of television, Peter Weir's The Truman Show was an instant classic for its content as well as Carrey's performance. We break it down and things get deep in this one. We also cap it off with a draft of the best of Jim Carrey. Where will Dumb and Dumber fall? Ace Ventura? Bruce Almighty? You'd think with the combination fo Seth Rogan & Evan Goldberg the minds behind The Boys, Superbad and TMNT Mutant Mayhem, director Michel Gondry from Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind and the cast of Christoph Waltz, Jay Chou and Cameron Diaz that The Green Hornet 2011 would not be terrible. On her podcast, TV, I SAY WITH ASHLEY RAY, Ashley has no pretentions about good entertainment. But once upon a time, she was a young Bergman scholar (and even, briefly, a beat poet). This entire trajectory of self-examination and unapologetic devotion to her own interests might just have its roots in Michel Gondry and Charlie Kaufman's 2004 opus, ETERNAL SUNSHINE OF THE SPOTLESS MIND, and its female lead, Clementine (Kate Winslet). After that conversation, Jordan has one quick thing about the phenomenon of Barbenheimer.***With Jordan Crucchiola and Ashley Ray

Professional screenwriters Alexie Basil and Adam Schaller discuss five of the most common "unbreakable" screenwriting rules . . . and when to completely disregard them in your script. They break down why classics such as "only one protagonist," "never change your protagonist's objective," and "raise the stakes" are usually helpful and then share some examples of when breaking the rules may actually strenghten your story. Films discussed include RRR, HUNGER GAMES, LAW ABIDIING CITIZEN, ETERNAL SUNSHINE OF THE SPOTLESS MIND, and more.

This week we continue our Comedic Actors in Dramatic roles block with 2004's indie darling Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. This gem sees Jim Carrey and Kate Winslet as Joel and Clementine (no jokes) who have suffered a painful breakup. Joel, heartbroken that Clementine doesn't recognize him, discovers that she had her memories of him erased. So he decides what's good for the goose is good for the gander. During the procedure, he decides his memories are precious. Mark Ruffalo, Elijah Wood, Kirsten Dunst, and David Cross co-star. How good is this film? How great is Carrey in a noncomedic role? Watch out cause today's Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind ep is pretty freakin' earnest. Listen in as Abby, Tim, and Riley rediscover their childhood passions, debate Jim Carrey's unhinged method acting, and remember what it felt like to see a real ~film~ for the first time. Follow Tim! My guest this week is New Jersey rapper, producer, composer, and deadverse label head Will Brooks, lead MC of the group dälek. We spoke about the work of John Singleton and Christopher Nolan, how we unknowingly attended the same screening of The Dark Knight Rises, the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Eternal Sunshine of The Spotless Mind, longevity as an independent musician, what it means to be hip-hop, scoring the documentary Betrayal at Attica, dälek's 25-year career, and the creative process behind their latest album Precipice.Precipice is available wherever music is sold, streamed, or stolen. On this weeks episode, we have our long awaited special guest…our multi-talented friend Oscar Velasquez! Join us as we discuss his unique, diverse top ten favorite movies, Cannes, career advice, film school memories and crashing his “motorcycle” in France. Note: The sound quality varies despite Oscar being in the same room as us. Unfortunately he had to record separately on his AirPods.
When Krys Marshall (FOR ALL MANKIND's Danielle Poole) told us she felt seen by Clementine from ETERNAL SUNSHINE OF THE SPOTLESS MIND, Annie from ANNIE HALL, and Selma from DANCER IN THE DARK, we couldn't wait to get together and hear the full story. Krys and Jordan talk about how these free spirited (and sometimes misunderstood) women speak to Krys as an actor and as a person. In one quick thing, Jordan's seen THE NORTHMAN and can't wait to tell you the phrase she left the theater chanting.***With Jordan Crucchiola and Krys Marshall
Klipp och musik:Adiafora - TråkigtMadagascar (2005)Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind (2004)Dexter's LabFucking ÅmålScarface (1983)SimpsonsMona Wessman - Gå Och Göm Dig Åke Tråkmail: dummamanniskor@gmail.comredigering: Peter Malmqvistproducent: Clara Wallin See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
