West Virginia was reportedly after the first-year coordinator in recent days. We'll discuss the impact of having Kotelnicki stay with the program for the postseason run and beyond. We'll also discuss the possibility of Penn State keeping quarterback Drew Allar and Kotelnicki together for one more season. Reporters Sean Fitz and Nate Bauer will discuss what they know of the situation as it unfolded and what you should expect from coordinators who find success, such as Kotelnicki. Fitz's recruiting updateFriday was a busy day for the Nittany Lions. Even before the team kicked off against Oregon on Saturday, the team secured several wins over the weekend. Andrew Olesh, a four-star tight end and top player in Pennsylvania, chose Penn State on Friday afternoon. What does it mean for the program to flip the top player in the state from rival Michigan? Fitz will also discuss the impact of 2026 wide receiver Jerquaden Guilford, who also committed on Friday. Finally, there's one outstanding commitment left in the Class of 2025. Quarterback Bryce Baker has yet to make a decision on his future, with North Carolina delaying its decision on a new head coach. Fitz will discuss the impact of the delay and its effect on Penn State's chances to land the Elite 11 finalist. Penn State vs Oregon RecapWhile it's nearly old news with all of the events that have happened since Saturday night, it's still important to look back at Penn State's performance in the Big Ten Championship game against Oregon. We'll discuss what we can and can't take away from the game when discussing how the offense and defense performed against the number one team in the country. Finally, we'll discuss the other news coming out of this past weekend including the transfer portal opening on Monday and fans finding out the fate of several key players for the postseason.

We'll provide extensive postseason coverage of the Nittany Lions this winter. Penn State doesn't get it done vs. Top Five Team Penn State's defense could not have gotten off to a worse start against Oregon. The Nittany Lions' normally stout front was gashed on the first two drives as Oregon rushed out to an explosive lead. Oregon's speed was too much for the team as they got their explosive athletes into space and raced out to 31 points in the first half, including an 11-point lead early in the second quarter. But from there, the Penn State offense came roaring back. Unlike previous big games, the offense was the side of the football that held the line for the Nittany Lions, going toe-to-toe with the Ducks and scoring 24 points before halftime. However, Oregon's explosiveness was too much for the Penn State defense. The Ducks passing attack went off with electric slot receiver Tez Johnson going for 181 yards in the game. Allar threw an interception with under two minutes left in the game to seal the game for the Ducks. What's next for the Nittany Lions? Penn State will await its fate on Sunday afternoon to find out its seeding in the first round of the inaugural 12-team playoff. Before then, hear what head coach James Franklin had to say about the game during his postgame press conference. Check that out by following the show on the BWI YouTube Channel. Penn State quarterback Drew Allar went 10-10 for 116 yards and a touchdown to start things off while the team averaged 6.4 yards per carry in the first half. However, two stalled three-and-out drives stymied the scoring fest heading into halftime. But unlike last week against Washington, Penn State's offense didn't blink after halftime. The offense scored three times in the third quarter including two explosive runs from Tyler Warren and Beau Pribula and a 46-yard touchdown pass from Allar to Trey Wallace to end the day for the starting offense.  Warren was once again the star of the game for the Nittany Lions. The Penn State tight end caught all eight of his targets for 127 yards and a touchdown. He also added in 63 yards and a score on the ground, bringing his game total to 190 yards and two touchdowns. Abdul Carter does it againIt wasn't a perfect night from the Penn State defense, but it was close. The backup linebackers and secondary entered the game with a 21-3 lead but gave up a field goal scoring drive in the second quarter. Beyond that, it was a long day, once again, for this 1-9 Purdue team. Abdul Carter was once again the star on defense, racking up five tackles, two tackles for loss, and multiple quick pressures that ended plays for Purdue. More game day content Be sure to stick around after the postgame show to hear from head coach James Franklin. For the eighth consecutive matchup, the Penn State Nittany Lions fell to the Ohio State Buckeyes. Despite an early pick six by Zion Tracy, James Franklin's team could not muster an offensive performance that would keep them in the game with Ohio State as they lost by score of 20-13 despite a 10-0 lead in the first quarter. Audrey & Jon discuss everything that went wrong for Penn State including the playcalling decisions of Andy Kotelnicki as well as the lack of use of Tyler Warren in goalline scenarios. Where does Penn State go from here? They have the chance to still write their ticket to the playoff but can they close out the final four games of the year with victories?

The defense forced a three-and-out to start its work in the second half. Then, on third and 15 from his own end zone, Wisconsin quarterback Braeden Locke threw a pick-six interception to safety Jaylen Reed. Reed's score was the catalyst that helped propel the team to the win. The defense put clamps on Wisconsin on all but one drive, where Locke threw a 33-yard deep shot after running an up-tempo play to get Penn State off-balance. But from there, the Nittany Lions snuffed out the Wisconsin offense, forcing multiple three-and-outs during the game. Injuries change momentum, Penn State changes it back The story of the game was nearly that Penn State's best players exited in the first half and the team lost an undefeated season with that fateful luck. The Nittany Lions struggled to find a rhythm on offense despite putting up  194 yards in the first half. Part of the issues started in the first quarter when starting right tackle Anthony Donkoh suffered another injury while in pass protection of quarterback Drew Allar. After trying to come back into the game for a drive, he was shut down for the rest of the game. But the full Andy Kotelnicki run offense was unleashed in the second half with backup quarterback Beau Pribula. The third-year passer engineered an impressive offensive performance that powered Penn State to a victory. Pribula gained 28 yards rushing and 98 yards passing on the way to a 21-point outburst in the third and early fourth quarters. What else happened in the game? Your home for Penn State Football is Blue White Illustrated!Penn State practice updateThe team hosted its weekly media session on Tuesday of its second bye week, and Blue White Illustrated was there to observe and report. On today's show, we discuss the nature of this week's practice and why Penn State eased up on the pace this week compared to previous bye weeks.  Next, we'll discuss what Penn State head coach James Franklin said after practice. While it's his least favorite topic, Franklin discussed injuries and the situation at punter return with Kaden Saunders and Zion Tracy. Also, after a big game, quarterback Drew Allar was a significant topic Tuesday night. Franklin gave the entire quarterback operation credit for the success.  "I think [QB Coach] Danny's [O'Brien] done a really good job of spending time and building trust and having kind of a demeanor on the sideline that I think has been really good for him as well. And then [offensive coordinator] Andy [Kotelnicki] is doing a really good job of playing to Drew's strengths as well as playing to our personnel strengths. I think it's a combination of all those things."Midseason report cardToday's show topic is also derived from Franklin's comments last night. He felt that the bye week after the USC game was a very good time in the season and under the right circumstances. "I just think when you talk about the middle of the season, game six, it's a good point to have a bye. Sometimes you get a bye really early, sometimes you get a bye late, and not the best position for the bye to land, but this is at a good point. And then, obviously coming off a win, I'd probably feel very different if we hadn't come off a win."So, we'll take the midseason point as an opportunity to evaluate the team's performance so far with position-by-position grades. Penn State didn't complete a pass over 20 yards in the game. Once again, quarterback Drew Allar didn't make many mistakes to put the ball in harm's way but was off-target in the first half, missing several passes that would have converted third and fourth down. In the third quarter, Penn State ran the ball 16 times. However, kicker Sander Sahaydak missed two field goals and kept the game close throughout the contest. Overall, the Penn State offense had four drives of eight plays or more. They also accumulated multiple chunk runs without breaking off a big run for a touchdown in the game. Defense dominates in the second halfThe Penn State defense gave up just 32 total yards in the second half before AJ Harris stepped in front of a fourth down pass from Altmyer. Harris took the ball back for a touchdown, but a block in the back penalty on slot corner Zion Tracy eliminated the defenisve score. Still, the defense dominated the line of scrimmage all night and prevented Illinois from getting into a rhythm offensively. Illinois averaged 1.8 yards rushing on the night. Penn State vs. Illinois Postgame Show#PennState  #NittanyLions  JOIN Blue White Illustrated: https://www.on3.com/teams/penn-state-nittany-lions/join/?plan=annualSUBSCRIBE to Blue White Illustrated on YouTube and enable alerts - new highlights and videos uploaded regularly: https://www.youtube.com/c/bluewhiteillustratedvideo?sub_confirmationGet the 2024 Penn State Football Preview Magazine at https://bit.ly/PSU24PreviewBookmark our homepage: https://www.on3.com/teams/penn-state-nittany-lions/Subscribe to BWI Magazine and Newsletters:  https://bluewhiteonline.com Download our podcasts: https://cms.megaphone.fm/channel/LRL3155877513?selected=DSVV2664982394Like us on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/BlueWhiteIllustrated/Follow us on Twitter https://twitter.com/PennStateOn3Sound effects obtained from https://www.zapsplat.com

What is receiver Omari Evans' upside after another explosive effort against the Golden Flashes? Can fellow WRs Liam Clifford and Julian Fleming build on their best efforts of the season against a quality opponent? And how good can the tight end room be with Tyler Warren, Luke Reynolds and Khalil Dinkins? Our duo tackles those questions and analyzes the impact veteran Illinois quarterback Luke Altmyer could have on the contest. Will the Lions defense contain him like it did WVU's Garrett Greene? Or could he be a challenge in the mold of Bowling Green's Connor Bazelak?

The MAC team at Kent State travels to Happy Valley this weekend to play the Nittany Lions at Beaver Stadium, and we're discussing the important aspects of last week's bye and this week's game on the BWI Live Show. Join us at 10 a.m. on YouTube to participate in the hour-long discussion, or check it out on replay there or embedded in this article. We'll also discuss the team's recruiting efforts from this past weekend, James Franklin's weekly press conference from Monday, and your questions to end the show in the BWI Mailbag. The best way to get the most out of your Blue White Illustrated subscription is to join our YouTube page.  Fitz's recruiting updatePenn State football used the bye week to do some traveling and recruiting, which our reporters documented this weekend. BWI recruiting expert Sean Fitz will discuss Franklin's travels and which stops are meaningful. The On300 update for the Class of 2025 dropped yesterday and several Penn State prospects made moves in the rankings for the top 300 players. Fitz will discuss what's important to know and where you can find more information. We'll also preview his deep dive into offensive lineman Michael Troutman. Troutman is a little-discussed commit in the Class of 2025 that Fitz will educate fans about on today's show. Between the LinesFranklin spoke with reporters for roughly 40 minutes on Monday to kick off the team's game week against Kent State. Our Penn State reporters were there and will discuss the meaning behind some of Franklin's most interesting answers. What's the injury status of KJ Winston? Is Franklin more open about injuries this year? We'll dive into those topic and more. Penn State vs. Kent State preview and MailbagThe game this weekend is a tough one to discuss because of the nature of the team's opponent. Unlike Bowling Green, which showed before the game earlier this year that it would be a quality test, Kent State has put up very poor showings so far. We'll discuss how to talk about this game, what is critical for a successful weekend, and more. Today's BWI Mailbag questions also deal with that topic. Which players should fans be excited to see this weekend? We'll discuss that, and preview which young players might make an impact on the back end of the 2024 schedule. #PennState  #NittanyLions  JOIN Blue White Illustrated: https://www.on3.com/teams/penn-state-nittany-lions/join/?plan=annualSUBSCRIBE to Blue White Illustrated on YouTube and enable alerts - new highlights and videos uploaded regularly: https://www.youtube.com/c/bluewhiteillustratedvideo?sub_confirmationGet the 2024 Penn State Football Preview Magazine at https://bit.ly/PSU24PreviewBookmark our homepage: https://www.on3.com/teams/penn-state-nittany-lions/Subscribe to BWI Magazine and Newsletters:  https://bluewhiteonline.com Download our podcasts: https://cms.megaphone.fm/channel/LRL3155877513?selected=DSVV2664982394Like us on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/BlueWhiteIllustrated/Follow us on Twitter https://twitter.com/PennStateOn3Sound effects obtained from https://www.zapsplat.comPenn State's Big Ten Schedule Is Around The Corner | Final Adjustments vs. Kent State–Kevin Brown–Inside the Den podcast–Delivering mags–testing setup–No article this afternoon

Everyone had a interesting story at Big Ten media days on Wednesday, so we'll whip around the league. (0:00-3:21) Intro (3:22-12:15) James Franklin Joins (12:16-18:00) Deshaun Foster's Opening Statement (18:01-24:20) Deshaun Foster Interview (24:21-35:55) Lincoln Riley Entering Year 3 (35:56-37:15) Nebraska Discussion (37:16-43:07) Huskers Center Ben Scott Joins (43:08-50:54) Nebraska's Ty Robinson Joins (50:55-1:13:59) John Canzano joins (1:14:00-1:15:27) Conclusion Penn State coach James Franklin joins the show to discuss how new coordinators Andy Kotelnicki (offense) and Tom Allen (defense) will blend what they've done in the past with what Penn State players have done. Franklin also weighs in a classic Pennsylvania debate: Sheetz or Wawa? New UCLA coach DeShaun Foster's opening statement got panned by the Internet, but the Internet should have listened to how Foster answered the questions he got about taking over the Bruins under less-than-ideal circumstances. Foster joined Andy to talk about replacing Chip Kelly and about how he reshaping UCLA's recruiting operation. Next, Andy breaks down some of USC coach Lincoln Riley's answers at media days. Riley says USC is still playing catch-up, which probably isn't satisfying to hear as year three begins. But if Riley is right about the defense getting better under new coordinator D'Anton Lynn, then there should be reason for excitement. Later, Andy talks to Nebraska center Ben Scott and defensive tackle Ty Robinson about being huge. Finally, Andy sits down with John Canzano (JohnCanzano.com (http://JohnCanzano.com)) to break down how the Big Ten became this new version of itself. Want to watch the show instead?
