Saudade Toxosi is a true artistic polymath, weaving her creative magic across a diverse range of mediums, from painting and charcoal drawings to photography, mixed media, sound design, and assemblage. With a career spanning over two decades, Toxosi has undertaken a meditative curatorial process, meticulously selecting and arranging found images that serve as a profound exploration of the "New Indigenous African" experience in the United States and the shared experiences of people of color around the world. One of her most compelling and influential projects is Equinox 1600, where Toxosi pairs and organizes these images, creating thought-provoking visual narratives that have captured the attention of artists, filmmakers, and cinematographers alike. Her work has played a pivotal role in shaping some of the most important visual and narrative statements of our time, including collaborations with visionaries like Bradford Young and Kahlil Joseph. In 2018, Toxosi unveiled her own film, "Oyeku," a powerful work that was featured alongside the creations of luminaries such as Henry Davis, Faith Childs-Davis, Michelle Blade, and Karon Davis in Kahlil Joseph's solo exhibition "New Suns" at the Bonnefantenmuseum in Maastricht, Netherlands. Her impact extends beyond filmmaking, as Toxosi's contributions to visual research have been sought after for projects like Eliot Rausch's "The Moment After," Jake and Royko's "Desert," Jasmine Green's "Bad Habits," and Matilda Finn's "Today”. She has also lent her artistic touch to installations, including the permanent collection for the McKinsey Firm and Lillian Blades' visual installation for the Beltline in Atlanta, GA. Toxosi's artistic prowess has made its mark in the world of literature and photography, and her work has been featured on platforms like TNE's Global Podcast, Black Contemporary Art on Tumblr, and Neptune Magazine, to name a few. She has exhibited her creations at prestigious venues such as The Factory in St. Pete, Arts Xchange in St. Pete, and the "Internationalist Spirit" exhibition in Havana, Cuba. Saudade Toxosi's journey as an artist is not just marked by her creative output but also by her dedication to supporting the arts community through collaborations, installations, and lectures. This week we are taking it back to one of my favorite episodes with business coach Jasmine Green. A huge part of Jasmine's story is that she gave up an opportunity to go to Medical School. She realized it just wasn’t right for her. Just as quickly as Jasmine made that decision, she went from a path of financial and professional security as a doctor to starting over from scratch. Jasmine went through a turbulent time trying to figure out what she was meant to do. She quickly got caught up in a bunch of dead-end jobs, just trying to survive. Jasmine had no sense of direction, identity, and was completely lost and alone. She hit her rock bottom when she ended a relationship and had to up move back home with all of her belongings. For most people, this would have been enough to put aside any vision of a successful future, but Jasmine always knew that she was meant for more. So she put a plan in place to live the life she knew she deserved. Jasmine’s story is so incredibly impactful because no matter what circumstances she was in, she never wavered from doing the work it takes to figure out one's purpose. She had so many career pivots before she got to where she is today. Now, Jasmine is working as a successful 7-figure sales coach helping business owners reach multiple six figures. Her purpose is to help her clients become who they need to be to in order to earn the results they desire. The best part of it all is, Jasmine no longer has to continue to seek and search for clients, opportunities, or income - they all come to her. Here are some key takeaways How to be secure in your decisionmaking How to surround yourself with people and resources that are going to uplevel you Why you need to listen to your intuition to discover your purpose Reach out! In today’s episode, Jasmine Green joins Terri and Dr. Dom to share with us how we may not be in alignment with our purpose and steps we can take to get into alignment. No matter how your journey started, as we hear from Jasmine, does not have to be the route you continue to take. The internal experience of the entrepreneur we see is a powerfully vulnerable story and Jasmine shares with us how to transmute our energy. Through visualizations and personal examples we learn concrete steps to manifest the life we deserve.Quote of the Day:"You can only receive what you're actually ready for AND... You will only allow yourself to have what you believe you deserve."- Jasmine P. Jasmine Green gives us an update from that last time we spoke with her in 2018. In this episode, Jasmine shares how her mother, Hurricane Katrina, and the LSU Women’s Basketball program are her role models and instrumental in shaping her perspectives. It was through these women that Jasmine has built Harry S. Truman into a recognizable “brand” in Chicago. Jasmine challenges us to “Tap into your greatness” everyday. Jasmine answers many questions about the challenges of being a young woman leader of color, advise how to turn challenges into opportunities, and how to enjoy the journey of life as a woman of color. Controversy can be a challenging word around the Yum Cha table. Even when all the dishes being pushed around by the Yum Cha girls are all so temptingly delicious. It can be a little humbling to discover that what gets served with the rice is usually Jasmine Green tea: the typical ordinary default choice for most people. During the Southern Song Dynasty, there was a General named Yue Fei 岳飛 who came to represent the epitome of loyalty in Chinese culture because he remained loyal, right to the end of his life when killed by conspiracies within the imperial court. Thankfully nowadays, as they sip their cups of Jasmine Green tea, most people never have to experience such a controversial life. Rather, we are blessed by an abundance never known by most people living before us. The martial arts of Xingyi Quan 形意拳, like its acclaimed ancestor Yue Fei 岳飛, is an internally focused style that also carries its fair share of controversy. Whether you believe any of it or not, Southern Song General Yue Fei created a style for his officers and soldiers to use in the heat of battle through the use of explosive internal chi by way of the fist or spear. Passed down from Yue Fei to Divine Fist Li - Li Luoneng 李洛能, the style has become rich and varied in our time, just like all those yum cha dishes. Hence something easy on the palette has to be drunk to cut through it all; practically and effectively. And Jasmine Green tea is what cuts through all of it. It is like a bitter-sweet refresher that allows one to enjoy all the dishes in their respective turn, just like a Xingyi fighter taking down one opponent at a time with explosive grace and ease. Controversial this may all be. The style of Xingyi Quan 形意拳 has always been so. Within the form resides the mind: within the complex reside the simple. And that is why the humble Jasmine Green tea reigns at the Yum Cha table. Liked what you heard & want to connect with me? Join me at… linkedin.com/in/peterhainzl/

Today’s guest is Jasmine Green. Green is the Director of Intercollegiate and Intramural Athletics at Harry S. Truman College (Chicago). Green is a first generation college graduate that has the love of a mother and two older sisters as role models that helped fuel her passion for success. A native of New Orleans, Louisiana and LSU alumna, Green has been exposed to the dynamics and intricacies of many cultures, as well as the impact of how Hurricane Katrina has influenced her perspective. Green talks about her decision to step away from being a young NCAA administrator to take on an athletic leadership role at a community college in Chicago, Illinois. Athletics has provided Green with many opportunities to avoid the stigma of being a “product of her society,” of which Green says she found freedom and liberation to excel as an African-American woman. It is now her desire to be a role model to other student-athletes and give them this same sense of freedom and liberation. Also, Green discusses the importance of “branding” herself in collegiate athletics and the influences that African-America women mentors have on her “branding” process. Hear her story. Produced by the Institute For Sport & Social Justice (ISSJ). Hosted by Mat Edelson, journalist and producer having appeared on NPR, ABC, ESPN, and in Houghton-Mifflin’s annual series, “The Best American Sports Writing.” “See Us Now – Invisible Women In Sport”
Jasmine Green was hired as the Director of Intercollegiate and Intramural Athletics at Harry S Truman College in February 2018. Prior to Truman, Green was an Assistant Director of Sports Administration for the Big Ten Conference, where she developed conference schedules; oversaw facility preparation for events; served as the conference office’s primary liaison for men’s tennis, men’s gymnastics, men’s swimming and diving and rowing; contributed with game management for conference games; supplied reports, analysis, data, and information to the conference’s Sports Management Committee, which was comprised of senior level administrators; assisted with the budgets for conference tournaments/championships; managed the purchasing and inventory of all awards as well as the regular season and tournament/championship memorabilia; assisted with the S.C.O.R.E Community relations initiative; supervised event managers at selected tournaments/championships; and was a team liaison for the Big Ten Football Championship. As an undergraduate at Louisiana State University, Green was a manager for the women’s basketball team and a summer basketball camp counselor. She also was an Event Management Intern at the university. After graduating from LSU, Green went on to earn a master’s degree from the University of Arkansas. Chelsea is a pinch-hitter of sorts for the podcast but the kind of pinch-hitter that turns the game completely around. I've known Chelsea a long time and for the bulk of that period it was as "the little blonde Christian girl that thinks I'm going to hell when she serves me my tea" (that's right it's another Tea Pop employee) and rightly so as I was a crass and judgmental prick to her upon our first meeting. You could say we've come along way. In fact. We've actually never hung out or even seen each other outside of Tea Pop but when I asked if she had an opinion about me Chelsea's eyes lit up in a way I have never seen before. In this conversation we talk about our first impressions of each other, how I hold people accountable, and my almost destructive passion to make the art that I want.
