Acomi and Turk182 prepare for the upcoming 25th anniversary of The Blair Witch, and another reboot. In doing so, they read a recent article about the main actors in the first movie Heather, Mike, and Josh and their struggles with the movie and post movie fame. Their biggest contention was with the money the studio made that feel wasn't properly shared with them. The movie was made for less than $50k and grossed over $250mil. Extremely profitable for the studio, but not for the actors. After several lawsuits and a settlement, Heather, Mike, and Josh say the movie studio continues to use their images and voices to promote future Blair Witch projects, without paying them. To make matters worse, the movie that brought them attention and popularity also destroyed their chances to be movies stars. While the three have abandoned their Hollywood dreams, their images live on; making money for someone else. Join Acomi and Turk as they delve into the Johnny Hates Jazz of the actors' lost careers and question who is really to blame to their pseudo rise to fame. Did the studio kill their success, or did they do that themselves? Also, if their contract wasn't upheld, who actually owes them? #OMTWF #Acomi #Turk182 #KorovaEntertainment #BlairWitch #TheBlairWitchmovie #BlairWitchmovie #ArtisanEnt #Lionsgate Follow Acomi on Twitter at @AcomiDraws and on Instagram at AcomiDraws. Clark Datchler: On this episode, we talk to songwriter Clark Datchler from the band Johnny Hates Jazz. Clark's songwriting first came to prominence in 1987 when his Band Johnny Hates Jazz released the single 'Shattered Dreams' which became a top 10 hit all over the world including no 1 on the US adult contemporary charts and has had millions of radio plays since. They went on to make music videos for MTV with David Fincher and Clark also wrote the follow-up singles and worldwide hits "I Don't Want to Be a Hero" "Turn Back the Clock" and "Heart of Gold".Just as the band had found international success Clark found himself dissatisfied with the direction the band was being taken in and decided to leave the band to pursue a solo career. Clark moved to America in 2000 and became environmentally active winning awards such as the prestigious Green Tec award. In 2009 Clark reunited with original Johnny Hates Jazz band member Mike Nocito and in 2013 they released the album Magnetized reviving the old sound with a modern flavour. The promotion for this album was sadly cut short due to Clark suffering a cancer diagnosis to which he made a full recovery. The band took some time out and released a new single, titled "Spirit Of Love" in May 2020 and a follow-up album called 'Wide Awake'. The album featured the inspirations and influences of Mike and Clark growing up in the 1970s and Clark's newly found appreciation of the world after his health scare.Clarks latest album Journey Songs 2 will be available soon to pre-order from his official website.Website:https://www.clarkdatchler.com/Journey Songs - Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/@ClarkDatchlerOfficialJHJ Website:http://johnnyhatesjazz.com/E-Mail: Kensongsmith@gmail.com or Evasongsmith@gmail.com Hosted on Acast. The song "Shattered Dreams" by Johnny Hates Jazz was one of the biggest hits of the 80s and is still heard around the world. Larry and Mike talk with Clark Datchler, lead singer and songwriter for Johnny Hates Jazz, who has recorded "Shattered Dreams For Ukraine," an updated version of the hit song, and is using it to raise money and awareness for Polandwelcomes.org, a charity that helps Ukrainian refugees. Not only does Clark play a verse live for us from his home, but he explains the origin of the band's name, how he dealt with fame at such a young age (23!) and how he remains passionate about music and helping change the world.
Kornflake has the week off, but we have a special guest in Chickentown to fill in: It's our big podcasting bossman, ESO Network Director Mike Faber! And we're talking music again. Mike has been to more concerts than Kevin and Kornflake combined, and has prepared a Top 4 1/2 List of his favorite concerts ever! Some of Mike's picks, while impressive, will not shock you. (REM in 1983! Springsteen in 1984!) However (here comes the clickbait), you'll never guess some of the others. (Mike was at Woodstock, and that did not make the list! Country Joe and the Fish are most displeased.) Along the way, our discussion also includes The Cars, ELO, They Might Be Giants, Lenny Kravitz, Dr. Demento, Johnny Hates Jazz, and much more. Enjoy! (Hey, the podcast is free, but to simulate the concert experience, maybe we should attach some unreasonable Ticketmaster-style service fees...) The Flopcast website! The ESO Network!
