Let's go back in time to 1989 when George Micheal won the award for best rhythm and blues artist.
Very few duos - sorry, they told us they don't like to be called that!-- have achieved as much commercial success as Daryl Hall and John Oates. (Don't even THINK of referring to them as "Hall & Oates, by the way.) With a run really beginning in the mid-1970s through the '80s, these two Philly natives ruled the airwaves with their "Blue-Eyed Soul"-infused brand of pop and rock. Their "best of" compilation, the optimistically titled "Rock 'n Soul Part 1," is an essential addition to anyone's music collection. All the hits are here - and man, did they have hits: "Sara Smile," "She's Gone," "Maneater," "Private Eyes," "I Can't Go For That (No Can Do)," and on and on and on.
This week Missy and Camille are taking their first dive into the genre of Blue-Eyed Soul! From Bee Gees to Adele to Mac Ayres and more, you are sure to find a new favorite jam thanks to this episode!

EPISODE 94: Butterflies symbolize change, hope andtransformation. They also represent pure joy. Through all his musical journeys, Felix Cavaliere has never lost that same delight. It wasn't the structured, precise sounds his piano teacher taught him so long ago – for Cavaliere, one of the founders of GRAMMY winning and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Inductees The Rascals - he can still recall the moment he heard rock and roll for the first time. Ensconced by its loose, soulful sound, Cavaliere still infuses that same enthusiasm when he's talking about a language beyond words: music. His work has never been bolder as it is in his new album “Then And Now.” With No. 1 songs like “Good Lovin'”, “Groovin'”, “A Beautiful Morning”, “I've Been Lonely Too Long”, “People Got To Be Free” and “How Can I Be Sure”, The Rascals are considered the best ‘blue-eyed soul' group to come out of the 1960s. For Cavaliere, The King of Blue-Eyed Soul©, making people feel good is fundamental to his illustrious career that includes the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, Songwriter Hall of Fame, Vocal Group Hall of Fame, Grammy Hall of Fame and Musicians Hall of Fame. felixcavalieremusic.comContact us: makingsoundpodcast.comFollow on Instagram: @makingsoundpodcastFollow on Threads: @jannkloseJoin our Facebook GroupPlease support the show with a donation, thank you for listening!

Aquí podréis escucharlos por partida doble, el mega hit “I Ran” y “The More You Live, The More You Love”. New Romantic barra New Wave. With Tears in My Eyes”. TRACKLIST: 01 - B-Movie - Nowhere Girl (Extended) 02 - A Flock of Seagulls - I Ran (Hache Mix) 03 - Spandau Ballet - To Cut A Long Story Short (12" Version) 04 - Ultravox - Dancing With Tears In My Eyes (U.S. Special Re-Mix) 05 - Kim Wilde - Kids In Amerika (Blank & Jones so8os Remix) 06 - Peter Schilling - Major Tom (Coming Home) 07 - Duran Duran - Planet Earth 08 - Visage - Mind Of A Toy (Original 12" Dance Mix) 09 - A Flock Of Seagulls - The More You Live, The More You Love (7'' Remix) 10 - John Foxx - Europe After The Rain 11 - Real Life - Send Me An Angel '89 (Dance Mix) 12 - Philip Oakley & Giorgio Moroder - Together in Electric Dreams (Extended Mix) 13 - Duran Duran - Girls On Film 14 - Spandau Ballet - The Freeze 15 - Heaven 17 - (We Don't Need This) Fascist Groove Thang

With the passing of musician Bobby Caldwell what's happening in the world of soul/R&B music. Is there anymore blue-eyed soul acts? Also, is it cheating to think about somone else....... while you're with your partner??

And Rickey apologized to a barbershop he visits for some comments he made on facebook about the neighborhood the shop is in. It is always good to correct. This week, Brian and Frank talk about what they learned from their kerfuffle last week. We learn about "Blue Eyed Soul," which feels weird to say and is super white. We find out exactly how little Frank knows about the Superbowl. Then we talk about movie theaters, talking, clapping, and Brian asks his black friend an important question. We also talk about how people lost their minds about a couple guys kissing during a zombie apocalypse. BREAKING NEWS - MANSCAPED® NOW SELLS BEARD PRODUCTS!!!!! That's right. After becoming Miss USA in 1972 from Arizona, her first ‘Hollywood break' came when she was hired as the last ‘Ding-A- Ling Sister' on “THE DEAN MARTIN TV SHOW”! Later, she went on to star opposite Stacy Keach as ‘Velda', his witty, sexy secretary in “MICKEY SPILLANE'S MIKE HAMMER” on CBS TV. That's when she came a brunette for 5 years. Some of her TV Credits include: Bonnie Robertson in“DALLAS”, Maybelle Tillingham, the Switchboard Operator, in “DUKES OF HAZZARD”, and Rocket in“VEGAS”, all recurring roles. Guest-starred on “LAVERNE AND SHIRLEY”, “LOVE BOAT”, “STARSKY & HUTCH”, and “SANFORD & SON”, to name a few. Her favorite movie role was starring as ‘Jean Harlow' in “HUGHES & HARLOW, ANGELS IN HELL”. In 2007, after raising 3 children with actor/singer, Mayf Nutter, she came out of retirement to re-unite with Michelle Dellafave (Ding-A-Ling Sister) to perform in a new duo called, “Blue Eyed Soul” for the Vietnam Veterans! Today's guest is a two-time Grammy nominee with 12 #1 radio hits, Mindi Abair. She is a very successful saxophonist, vocalist, and author, and she is also an entrepreneur. She was the featured saxophonist on American Idol for a couple of seasons and the first solo saxophonist touring with Aerosmith since 1973. Her father was a saxophone and a keyboard player in the Blue-Eyed Soul band. Her grandmother was an opera singer. Seeing her father having so much fun on stage while playing saxophone, she also chose to play saxophone, and she chose well. She loves playing for the masses, and she says she has always been a live music girl. In 2019 Mindi and her husband, Eric, launched Reserve Tasting Wine Company. Listen to this episode to learn more about her, her music, her life, business, hobbies, passion; what she likes to listen to, and much more. In the ‘Bout it or Doubt it segment, you can find out what she thinks about skydiving and mounting climbing. Enjoy this conversation and listening to three of her songs: April, Flirt, and Be Beautiful. Episode Highlights08:38 – In my music, you can hear that pop influence on certain records. Certain records are more blues-influenced, a lot more organic sounding, or rougher. I try to take what's in my heart at the time. Art should reflect life. 13:54 – I was going to make music that moves people, that moves me. We recorded April right as the world was shutting down for the pandemic. That song tells the story. 17:46 – I felt the same as I feel now, that I became a better saxophonist on that tour and making that record because you're surrounded every night on stage and backstage with these incredible players. 25:02 – I've spent my life creating music and playing music. But my husband has spent his life running very cool vineries. He is quite knowledgeable. He goes and finds incredible wines, and I create the artwork for it. And I put together a playlist for each bottle.35:56 – I spent about ten years on the board of The Recording Academy. I became a national Trustee for the organization. I really love to be a part of that, and it became a huge part of my life because they do so much good.
