We've all lived through a pandemic now. But did you know that so much of our pre-pandemic lives was the result of … pandemics? Abdul reflects on the marvel that for so many of us, the risk of dying of an infectious disease is so low — and why we're at risk of losing that. Then he sits down with Prof. Jon Kennedy, Co-Director of the Center for Public Health and Policy at Queen Mary University in London and author of the new book “Pathogenesis: A History of the World in Eight Plagues.”
Jon Kennedy is a retired Detective Chief Inspector who spent his entire 30-year career with the Metropolitan Police. During his career he was posted to the Territorial Support Group, the Murder Squad, Internal Affairs, Safeguarding and other various command groups within the Met. He has been part of senior leadership teams for major public order events such as the Notting Hill Carnival, New Year's Eve and other large scale public order events. At times he was responsible for high profile murder cases and other serious crimes. Jon has been interviewed by most of the TV channels in the UK and has travelled all over the world, from Europe to the Falklands islands. Jon has just recently had a paper published by the Home Office Affairs select committee into ways of increasing the arrest and charge rate for the sex offence beginning with ‘R' and ending in ‘ape'.Throughout his career Jon has been driven by a need to maintain high professional standards, to support the victims of crime to lead from the front and continually confront those that were unable or unwilling to maintain such standards. In March 2023, Baroness Louise Casey, concluded a year-long investigation into the Metropolitan Police force. The report found that ‘the Met' is institutionally racist, sexist and homophobic; has inadequate management; examples of predatory and unacceptable behaviours, humiliating initiations and a bullying culture… Expect to hear Jon's reaction to the Baroness Casey report findings and the everyday perspective on working in ‘the Met'. Jon's describes his initiation, talks about some his scariest moments, tells some hilarious stories and much more...Extra Stuff:Reach Out to Jon on https://www.instagram.com/jonkennedy_pt/Baroness Casey Report: https://www.met.police.uk/SysSiteAssets/media/downloads/met/about-us/baroness-casey-review/update-march-2023/baroness-casey-review-march-2023.pdfPublication: https://publications.parliament.uk/pa/cm5802/cmselect/cmhaff/193/report.html00:00 Intro02:47 Police Initiation07:41 Is The Police Misogynistic14:08 Is It Worth Joining the Police19:12 Weeding Out Corrupt Cops30:29 Discipline or Bullying41:59 Are TV Shows Like Reality43:50 Early Career51:11 Bullying in the Riot Police58:28 Riots, Petrol Bombs & Hooligans01:12:05 Scariest Moment in 30 Years01:18:01 Impact on Family Life01:27:28 Working with High Profile People01:35:21 RAF Nearly Bomb Traffic Cops01:38:47 Pork Pie and Dead Body Story01:49:22 Bad Boys, Bad Boys... November 19, 2020 — Current local election results have not been completely tallied yet, but a new batch of ballots has been freshly counted, bringing the percentage of counted votes up to just over 68%. Maureen Mulheren and Glenn McGourty’s leads in the supervisorial races have grown over their opponents, Mari Rodin and Jon Kennedy, but in the Ukiah City Council race, Steve Scalmanini and Josefina Duenas have switched places. Duenas is now the second-highest vote getter, with 17.90%, while Scalmanini is third, with 16.99% Douglas Crane is still in the lead with 18.94%, but with two seats in the race, the top two contenders will win a seat on the council. 65.59% of In a previous election, the Measure B mental health sales tax measure passed three years ago this month. At yesterday’s Measure B Citizens’ Oversight Committee meeting, Commissioner Lloyd Weer reported that, at almost halfway to the five-year mark, the tax initiative’s revenues are close to projections.

Planet Nine is a hypothetical large planet in the far outer Solar System, the gravitational affects of which would explain the unusual orbital configuration of a group of trans-Neptunian objects (TNOs) that orbit mostly beyond the Kuiper belt. The hypothesis first took form in a 2014 letter to the journal Nature by astronomers Chad Trujillo and Scott S. Sheppard, who had inferred the possible existence of a massive planet from similarities in the orbits of the distant trans-Neptunian objects Sedna and 2012 VP113. On 20 January 2016, researchers Konstantin Batygin and Michael E. Brown at Caltech argued that a massive outer planet would be the likeliest explanation for the similarities in orbits of six distant objects. The predicted planet would be a super-Earth, with an estimated mass of about 10 times that of Earth (approximately 5,000 times the mass of Pluto), a diameter two to four times that of Earth, and a highly elliptical orbit that is so far away that it could take around 15,000 years to orbit the Sun. On the basis of models of planet formation that might include planetary migration from the inner Solar System, such as the fifth giant planet hypothesis, the authors suggest that it may be a primordial giant planet core that was ejected from its original orbit during the nebular epoch of the Solar System’s evolution. Jon Kennedy - We Milk Life But Skank Smooth (Grant Phabao Remix) (Exclusive MP3 download on ParisDjs.com) 2009-03-06 Jon Kennedy learned to play the drums at the age of 12 or 13 and started to record his own crazy tracks on a 4 track straight away.. Before that he was listening to War Of The Worlds OST and my brothers rock music, strumming along to them on his guitar, Jimi Hendrix, AC/DC, Kiss etc. After 3 really cool trip-hop-like albums on Tru Thoughts and Grand Central Records, he'll release a new album, '14', this summer on Organik Recordings. Expect Rock, Hip Hop, Soul, Funk... all of a heavy nature from the drum perspective. This skanking (and exclusive) Grant Phabao remix takes a song from his previous "Useless Wooden Toys" album into Jamaican territories. The Bristol beatmaster dressed with dreads... Enjoy!
