Decoy Deloy is back with more Music News brought to you by Hello Merch. Here at Hello, we don't mess around: we do merch, we do it right, and we put artists first. And this week, we're pleased to announce a fresh new addition to the Hello fam: that's right, the legendary DEVO is in the house. Formed in Akron, Ohio in 1973, DEVO has gone on to inspire countless bands, blending high concept satire with catchy post-punk sounds. This is a big year for Devo. First off, there's Devo Doc, which premiered this year at Sundance. Directed by Chris Smith, director of the incredible film American Movie, this film offers an inside look at DEVO's creative process. In late September, DEVO's Gerald Casale will receive the Ernie Kovacs Award at Dallas VideoFest, an honor that's previously gone to Robert Smigel and Pee-Wee Herman himself, Paul Reubens, and of course, DEVO recently hit NPR to offer a one-of-a-kind Tiny Desk performance.Over in their Hello shop, you can score everything from signed posters to shirts, beach towels, or your very own ENERGY DOME!In other news: Lusine, Yppah, and Arms and Sleepers are heading out on what they've dubbed the “Earth To Moon” tour. Formed in 2006 by Mirza Ramic and Max Lewis, recent years have found Mirza acting in a solo capacity, blending ambient music with trip-hop beats and found sound samples. Back in March, we invited him and his friends at Sly Vinyl up to the WASTOIDS loft for a special set and it was pretty dang sick. The tour kicks off October 23rd in Brooklyn, and will find the crew traveling cross country, hitting Phoenix on November 10th, when they'll play Thunderbird Lounge. Arms and Sleepers latest is called What Tomorrow Brings. And to close, meet Jaimie Muehlhausen. He's the man behind Vibrosonic Graphic Design Studio, the viral website Men Who Look Like Kenny Rogers, and for decades, he's worked as the creative director of legendary skater Tony Hawk. When he emailed Decoy, we knew we had to reach out to learn more. Tune in to hear his fascinating story. Call us anytime at 1-877-WASTOIDS. Welcome to the Great Fresan Relisten of 2023! Over the next four weeks, we'll be reissuing an episode a day from the The Invented Part and The Dreamed Part seasons of TMR so that you can catch-up, refresh your memory, have a few laughs, etc., before the May 10th launch of Season 19 on The Remembered Part. Here are the show notes from the original airing: Chad and Brian go deep into the underlying structure of the second section of Fresan's The Dreamed Part, talking about Penelope's story, her relationship to her parents and the Karmas, and the moment in which she lost her son. We finally get to read about her wrecking house (literally) and see how everything circles back to the start of this section . . . This week's music isn't from The Dreamed Part. It's Yppah's "Dreams Like You," which is somewhat comforting at this time. You can purchase each of the books in the trilogy separately (Invented, Dreamed, Remembered, OR, if you don't have them and are ready for the reading event of 2023, then get The Part Trilogy for $40—approximately 30% off. You can find all previous seasons of TMR on our YouTube channel aaand you can support us at Patreon and get bonus content before anyone else, along with other rewards, the opportunity to easily communicate with the hosts, etc. And please rate us—wherever you get your podcasts! Follow Open Letter, Two Month Review, Chad Post, and Brian Wood for random thoughts and information about upcoming guests.
After Eight Show - Music That You Just Don't Hear Anywhere Else!
The After Eight Show goes out on 15 different radio stations in 5 countries. This week, as always, we had masses of #NewMusic in our playlist! An eclectic mix of original, intelligent, melodic, grown-up songs - #electronic, #rnb, #jazz, #blues and #acoustic. And mostly from artists who you have not heard of - yet! Think 'next series of Jools' - that's the kind of artists that we play. In December, it was the 40th anniversary of the shooting of John Lennon. He was 40 at the time of his death. GEMS have done a rework of his best known solo album, Imagine, and we are playing one of the tracks from that. It's a fascinating treatment of a love song to Yoko - give it a listen and see for yourself! New Music You Just Don't Hear Anywhere Else! This episode we get hot and steamy talking about ghosts and titties. Lots and lots of titties. Frankly we cannot believe how much titty there is, but what exactly did we expect? Pornstars and titties go together like Katie and Judgement or Adri and Gossip. We think we may have watched just the pre-shoot to a real porno with ghost undertones. Today's episode we have Laney back for Part 2 of "Maybe it's bullshit, maybe it's Maybelline". Adri is still securing the bag, sis, so she is absent from the episode. There are spreads, meme spreads, fuck/marry/kill references. Katie's tarot deck is a Karen and she will definitely want to speak to your manager. Adri is absent from this episode, but fear not! Laney, our Ohio specter expert, is here to fill in. What was meant to be a single episode has now become a two-part series! So enjoy. You better! We drag all the signs to filth (Katie) and dispell some stereotypes. Is it all bullshit? Probably but it's fun. Now sit down, shut up, and put down those teen mags. This episode is a sexy little nugget about love, cardiac arrest, and auto-erotic asphyxiation. We try to stay focused on an episode of Dead Files centering around a tattoo shop but end up talking smack about the tastes of people in Chicago. It's our Valentines day special with lots of things Katie has to apologize to Adri's mom about. Stay tuned at the end for a brand new song performed by Katie herself. If you have ghost stories to share you can go to our socials: @ghosthoespod on instagram and twitter OR on Facebook. Here we are, back on our bullshit again for 2020 with the man we love to hate, Zak Baggins. This time it's all about the Dibbuk box and Robert the doll. And less of Zac being a dramatic ninny. This is the final episode of Warm Focus as a weekly radio show on BFF.fm! :( But have no fear, Warm Focus will continue as a series of mixes and live DJ sets. I'm looking forward to being able to sink more time into more polished mixes with the same flow-inducing vibe. Follow @hoverbird on Soundcloud for my favorite radio episodes as well as new Warm Focus mixes and other, adjacent moods. Pretty much ever song I've ever played on this show can be found on my Spotify account. Follow @hoverbird on Spotify, I compulsively make mixes (instrumentals to work to, but also tons of other things!) Warm Focus is also available as a podcast, which is probably the easiest medium of all! It seems like the Long Beach Ninja Tune electronic artist Yppah (sometimes known as Joe Corrales, Jr.) has become a constant touring partner of fellow NY Ninja Tune labelmate and hip hop producer Blockhead. A few years ago while on tour with Blockhead, Yppah met musician, artivist and vocalist Anomie Bell. Strangely Yppah and Bell clicked and together they've made some of Yppah‘s most interesting tracks. I chatted with Yppah (yeah, it's “happy” backwards, but pronounced “Yip-Ah”) inside his tour van on a very rainy day and I get this very shy guy to spill his guts! Listen to our chat. Tracks played on the show... 1) Yppah, Eighty One (2012) “Film Burn” (ft Anomie Bell) 2) Yppah, Eighty One (2012) “D. Song” (ft Anomie Bell) 3) Yppah, You Are Beautiful At All Times (2006) “Again With the Subtitles” 4) Yppah, Eighty One (2012) “Blue Schwinn” (partial/background) 5) Yppah, Eighty One (2012) “Soon Enough” (ft Anomie Bell) NO songs CANCON

Ben and Mark talk about where we can find information to improve our skills (links below, in no particular order). Our tool star this week is f.lux, an application which could help you sleep better after some late night coding. Ben’s jukebox recommendation is ‘Never Mess With Sunday’ from Yppah’s 2012 album ‘Eighty one’. Mark suggests a couple of tracks from Daisuke Miyatani’s 2007 album ‘Diario’. - Mark Subscribe and keep in touch iTunes - http://relativepaths.uk/it Stitcher - http://relativepaths.uk/st SoundCloud - http://relativepaths.uk/sc Twitter - http://twitter.com/relativepaths Facebook - http://facebook.com/relativepaths If you like the show, please leave a review or comment wherever you like to listen to us. IDM flows this week on the HSS. Vector Lovers, and Sleepy Town Manufacture start the show with their glitchy, chopped beats and layered melodies. Tycho opens the space a bit with their driving bass, ambient grooves and we hear some new stuff from Yppah. Cheju takes us into some glitchy idm dubness and Auditory Canvas delivers on their bass heavy melodic track Spring Rain. The legendary Lee Scratch Perry gets his say and On-U Sounds' African Head Charge play their classic Hold Some More. We come back to the beginning and finish the show near our starting vibe with the glitched out groovy ambience of Australia's Thrupence. Tracklist: Vector Lovers – Far Side Of The Tracks Sleepy Town Manufacture – Don't You Miss Me? Tycho – A Walk Yppah – Paper Knife Cheju – Pachinko Auditory Canvas – Spring Rain Sense: Orteip (Sense Remix) Lee Scratch Perry – African Head Charge In The Hackney Empire African Head Charge – Hold Some More Thrupence – Voyages
A real ride through genres this week on the show. We start all space and psychedelic with a little live Ozric Tentacles before dropping some bass heavy tunes starting with Pretty Lights' heavy and incredibly wicked dubstep track "I Know The Truth". More chest rattling ensues with goodies from Santogold and edIT. From there we go into some hiphoppy breaks styles Pilote and the mighty 2econd Class Citizen (with a new album coming soon that's sure not to be slept on) as well as Yppah and a Beatles remix that puts Jay-Z to shame. The hour ends with some driving minimal techno from M.A.N.D.Y and Brinkmann dropping funk and 303 on our asses. Tracklist: Ozric Tentacles - Live Throbbe Pretty Lights - I Know The Truth Santogold - Creator (vs. Switch and Freq Nasty) Santogold - Anne (Switch Mix) edIT - If You Crump Stand Up Pilote - Microphones 2econd Class Citizen - The Way I Feel Yppah - Blue Schwinn Ill Chemist - Feel Alright M.A.N.D.Y. vs Booka Shade - Body Language (Jona Remix) Soul Center - Lopster
We woke ourselves up laughing, our heads spinning to future music. Somewhere near the beginning was new music from Ninja Tune vets Funki Porcini, and at long last, DJ Food. New singles from Sei A and Julio Bashmore kept our heads above water, while Yppah played “D.Song.” The praised sounds of John Maus were ringing […]
