It's a lightning fast turnaround for Tuesday's GW14 deadline. As is customary, set your Bus Team and then join hosts Josh and Brandon as we break down the GW13 highs and lows and apply our learnings to the FPL season's first midweek slate of fixtures. Saka is on fire, Palmer is heating up again, Salah continues to boil, and Bruno is about to have his say. But who gets the armband—and who makes way when we look to mix up the template? Plus, we run through our "concern index" for a handful of other crucial fantasy assets, deciding who to sell, bench, or buy. Hail Cheaters! Transport trends and what's happening to productivity are on the agenda for this week's podcast with James Sproule and Daniel Mahoney. James has been looking at a number of datasets to find out how the UK's transport habits are changing and what that might mean for wfh trends (two trends for the price of one!). Plus, measuring productivity is not easy but what can we glean from the available data? James takes a look. And finally, with speculation around potential tax rises on premium property in the coming Budget, James looks at where the market is at the moment. All in under 15 minutes. Certain recent events happened, and we have a lot of opinions about it! So much so that what was meant to be an anniversary episode has gotten pushed aside for a recounting of the attempted assassination of Donald Trump, what we know (at time of recording), and what could happen in the future. This discussion includes some dark humor, discussion of political violence and mass shootings, and a lot of coping. If these things aren't your bag, we'll see you next week for the previously scheduled anniversary!
Danger Sound Klaxon!:The Horn That Changed History (University of Virginia Press, 2023) reveals the untold story of the Klaxon automobile horn, one of the first great electrical consumer technologies of the twentieth century. Although its metallic shriek at first shocked pedestrians, savvy advertising strategies convinced consumers across the United States and western Europe to adopt the shrill Klaxon horn as the safest signaling technology available in the 1910s. The widespread use of Klaxons in the trenches of World War I, however, transformed how veterans heard this car horn, and its traumatic association with gas attacks ultimately doomed this once ubiquitous consumer technology. By charting the meteoric rise and eventual fall of the Klaxon, Dr. Matthew Jordan highlights how perceptions of sound-producing technologies are guided by, manipulated, and transformed through advertising strategies, public debate, consumer reactions, and governmental regulations. Jordan demonstrates in this fascinating history how consumers are led toward technological solutions for problems themselves created by technology. Dr. Jordan also directs the News Literacy Initiative, including co-hosting its podcast News Over Noise. This interview was conducted by Dr. Miranda Melcher whose forthcoming book focuses on post-conflict military integration, understanding treaty negotiation and implementation in civil war contexts, with qualitative analysis of the Angolan and Mozambican civil wars. And we're off! As the sound of Beef's Klaxon reverberates around North Middlesex Golf Club, our 17 teams begin their round. There are birdies early on, as Beef and John station themselves on the 18th tee overlooking the clubhouse. There is the unveiling of the shank gong, reports of perfect raking in the CCTV bunkers, and a contentious ruling as to what happens if you land on the putting green. In this episode we meet The Shank Marvins, The Jammy Dodgers and many others. The competition is fierce, no-one wants to be going home with Beef's infamous 'scrotum ball bag ball holder' at the end of Beef Stock... Fancy going to The Ryder Cup with Beef? Welcome to the fifty-third episode of the Lessons from the Cockpit podcast, the second in a series of Strategic Air Command bomber and tanker operations during the Cuban Missile Crisis of October and November of 1962. Strategic Air Command's Cuban Missile Crisis After Action Report was declassified years ago. I did not find it until researching the chapter of my book called Klaxon! Klaxon! Klaxon! on nuclear operations in the Reagan Cold War. In the days leading up to President John F. Kennedy's landmark speech on the evening of 22 October telling America nuclear missiles are on the island of Cuba, Commander of Strategic Air Command General Thomas S. Power prepared his forces for the increase in airborne nuclear alert called Chrome Dome missions. SAC went from twelve Chrome Dome missions a day to seventy-five on 5 November 1962! The episode discusses the preparation, generation, and launch of SAC nuclear bomber and tanker assets over thirty days. Financial support for the Lessons from the Cockpit comes solely from Wall Pilot, custom aviation art for the walls of your home, office, or hanger. One hundred twenty-seven Ready to Print aircraft profiles printed on vinyl you can peel off and stick to any flat surface. These prints are four, six, or eight feet long and very detailed, the arming T-Handles on the AIM-9 heat-seeking Sidewinder missiles with the stenciling! Wall Pilot also creates custom aircraft profiles with your name, unit insignia, tail codes, and even desired weapons loadout on your favorite aircraft. The KB-50J was Tactical Air Command's air refueling platform. A Ready to Print KB-50 from the 429th Air Refueling Squadron is available in four, six, or eight-foot-long vinyl prints. The KC-135's played a huge part in every Chrom Dome mission refueling the B-52s flying Chrome Dome airborne nuclear alert missions in the Mediterranean and Aegean Seas, over the North Pole, or near Thule Greenland. A KC-135E from the New Jersey Air National Guard is available from Wall Pilot. The B-58 Hustler was new to Strategic Air Command's inventory and all 84 were placed on nuclear alert to cover the gaps in the Single Integrated Operations Plan or the nuclear war plan with the B-52s flying Chrome Dome missions. This B-58 Hustler profile is the Cowtown Hustler, a speed record-breaking Hustler now in the National Museum of the Air Force in Dayton Ohio. The F-8E Crusader was the Navy's premier air superiority fighter as the McDonnell-Douglas F-4B was coming into the fleet. This Ready to Print F-8E Crusader from VF-162 off the USS Oriskany can be purchased here. The U-2 Spy Plane took the first pictures of the San Cristobal Medium Range Ballistic Missile facility on 14 October 1962. A Ready to Print U-2 is available from Wall Pilot. Thanks for downloading and listening to this and previous episodes of the Lessons from the Cockpit podcast, I really do appreciate it! All episodes can be found on my website at markhasara.com, under the Podcast pull-down header. Episode fifty-four will be up next week... discussing another time period where Russian nuclear subs caused SAC to increase the alert status once again in 1987. Look forward to talking with you again next week.

Our Bomber and Malc got together to quickly go over an improved performance... but a frustrating result, as the Lads took just a point from Michael Appleton's men at Sincil Bank! What's the crack?A frustrating game with a lot of skill on display but very little end product - just wasn't going our way today in front of goal; The lads pick a couple faults with the team selection - namely one Corry Evans getting the nod over Jay Matete for reasons unknown - but besides that we set up pretty well didn't we? Patrick Roberts had an absolutely brilliant game - the lads try to wring every bit of positivity out of his and Dennis Cirkin's performance as they can... Did Lincoln really turn up to win? How does that result feel overall, with so few opportunities to get the points we need left? All this and more!
