As you may know, every year I offer two episode replays over the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays. These are always two of my favorite interviews from the year—conversations that stuck with me and are worth a second listen (though, in honesty, they're all worth a second listen!). This year, Thanksgiving in the US falls on November 23, 2023—60 years to the day since the premiere of Doctor Who. What could be more fitting, then, than to revisit my conversation with Peter Davison, who played the Fifth Doctor and brought us one of the most beloved Doctor Who anniversary specials of all time ten years ago? I hope you enjoy the episode! *** I'm absolutely thrilled to be talking this week with actor Peter Davison, star of All Creatures Great and Small, Doctor Who, At Home with the Braithwaites, West End musicals like Spamalot and Gypsy, and much more. He's also the author of a delightful memoir, Is There Life Outside the Box: An Actor Despairs, and Doctor Who fans also know him as the creator of the 50th anniversary special, The Five(ish) Doctors Reboot. Peter talks with me about many of those things, plus how he came to write his book, the "rise of the nerds," and more. Episode breakdown: 00:01:10 Childhood creativity, music, becoming an actor. 00:10:08 Taking on Doctor Who, and being unsure how to approach the character. 00:17:03 Doctor Who, and playing unpleasant characters well. 00:24:54 All Creatures Great and Small and the lessons learned from Robert Hardy. 00:35:18 Actors fear of being replaced, and the difference between US and UK actors. 00:42:13 Acting as the best job. 00:50:28 Writing his memoir. 00:55:34 The Five(ish) Doctors Reboot. 01:03:07 Doctor Who fandom and the "rise of the nerd." Please leave a review and in it, tell us your favorite Doctor Who experience or memory. Want more? Here are some handy playlists with all my previous interviews with guests in theatre and Doctor Who. Today we're going to deep deep into the world of business leadership and personal development with a truly extraordinary person—entrepreneur, renowned speaker, investor, and the host of the UK's No.1 podcast Diary of a CEO, Steven Bartlett. For the uninitiated, Steven is the co-founder of Flight Story, a marketing and communications company that works with some of the world's most cutting-edge brands, as well as ThirdWeb, a San Francisco-based software company, and the venture enterprise FlightFund. He is the youngest ever host of Dragon's Den (UK's version of Shark Tank), he was included in the Forbes 30 Under 30 list, and has delivered talks for the UN, SXSW, and TEDx. But Steven's formal bio fails to tell the story of how an outcast kid with very little means who dropped out of university would go on to become not only a wildly successful entrepreneur whose ongoing concerns generate hundreds of millions in revenue—but also a genuine thought leader on everything from business and leadership to personal growth and well-being. Today Steven shares how his upbringing shaped the trajectory of his life, interspersed with diamonds on discipline, balancing ambition with self-care, and the power of intuition. We also talk about the challenges of celebrity, the relationship between insecurity and ambition, and many other impactful lessons that you can read about in Steven's wonderful new book aptly titled, Diary of a CEO: The 33 Laws of Business and Life. This one is going to inspire, educate, and challenge you to think differently about success and fulfillment. And it might just redefine your goals and relationship with ambition entirely. We've always called our oldest son our "out-of-the-box boy." Luke is one of the coolest kids you'll meet. Today, I'm sharing his story with you. While we certainly don't have all the answers, I've always believed that parts of our story have the potential to help other families in the same or similar boat. I'm sharing all this to explain why we're beyond thrilled to announce a new development to help so many more families beyond our local reach! Everyone has a story to tell, it's simply a matter of asking the right questions. That's Marilyn R. Wilson's motto, which she has proven with her extraordinary books, LIFE OUTSIDE THE BOX and THE WISDOM OF LISTENING. Marilyn R. Wilson's focus as an author is non-fiction published under the label Real People - Real Lives. Whether she is sharing the stories of others or passing on what she has learned through interviewing, her books affirm how beautifully diverse life's journey is - there is no one right way to live - and encourage readers to embrace their uniqueness without apology. In this third podcast of Authors on iTours, Marilyn and I will discuss her extraordinary career that began when she was 50 years old! Marilyn's career as a writer began when she answered a Craigslist ad looking for magazine submissions. When two were accepted, she was launched into a whole new career that included co-owning and running a magazine and doing freelance articles for others both local and international; conducting over 150 interviewing over people from around the globe; stepping on stage as a speaker; doing social media and author support for her publisher, working on contract with Eco Fashion Week Australia for their first event, mentoring young talent and publishing two Amazon best sellers - Life Outside the Box (2016) and The Wisdom of Listening (2018). --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app

When you were re-born into God's family, you became a member of a family that lives life "outside of the box". The things that God desires to do in your life will not fit into the box of your natural reasoning.
When you put in a God in a box, pretty soon you find you're left with nothing but an empty box, because our God is too great to be contained & far too great for us to comprehend. We need to get used to the idea that sometimes God moves outside the box. We need to realize that sometimes God does things beyond our limited ability to understand.
