There is no doubt in my mind that we, as a nation (and, across the world) are facing a moral confusion if not a complete moral crisis. And, unless righteous, bold men step up to the plate, we'll continue to see the moral decay of everything we love from our favorite institutions, to our families, and our neighborhoods, and even the threat of losing this great nation. That isn't hyperbole. Today, I am joined by John Lovell, founder of Warrior Poet Society and former Army Ranger to discuss what we as men can do about it. We talk about mercy and justice (and, how to satisfy both), why we should hate injustice, the dangers of communism and socialism, why we must unite behind Truth (with a capital T), why "happiness" is inferior to "joy," and why we should pursue peace if possible but truth at all costs. 00:00 - Introduction & Catching Up 01:20 - Why John Wrote "The Lions of Mercer" 03:49 - Justice, Fiction, and Catharsis 07:15 - The Cry for Justice 08:07 - Modern Culture and Victimhood 08:51 - Loving the Good vs. Hating the Evil 11:44 - Redemption, Failure, and Public Dogpiling 13:01 - Loyalty, Forgiveness, and Standing by Brothers 16:14 - What Is "The Good"? 18:27 - Justice, Mercy, and the Role of Christ 20:15 - Judgement, Hypocrisy, and Accountability 23:07 - Integrity and Personal Alignment 24:39 - Happiness vs. Joy 26:39 - Teaching Discipline and Long-Term Thinking 27:03 - You Can Only Replicate Who You Are 28:22 - Wrestling With Faith and Christianity 29:02 - The Dangers of Atheism & Moral Relativism 31:05 - America's Moral Foundation 32:42 - Who Decides Morality? 34:12 - Rise of Socialism & Cultural Rejection 35:38 - New York, Ideology, and Consequences 36:36 - Unity vs. Compromise 38:41 - What Makes Someone American? 39:58 - Parenting, Boyhood, and Raising Men 40:45 - Why Boyhood Resurrected Was Written 42:38 - Risk, Adventure, and Rite of Passage 46:14 - Finding Balance in Parenting 47:09 - Trust, Risk, and Leadership in Marriage 51:27 - Why Should Your Wife Trust You? 52:21 - Leadership, Submission, and Marriage Dynamics 55:49 - Biblical Structure for Marriage 59:04 - Loving Leadership and Wise Authority 01:00:54 - Closing Thoughts & Transition to IC Segment 01:01:15 - Where to Find John Lovell 01:02:13 - Q&A Teaser Battle Planners: Pick yours up today! Ephesians 5:25-29
It's (unfortunately) super rare to see leaders talk about how they prioritize not only their own work-life health and balance, but that of their team. We all know "culture matters" when it comes to work environments, but what does that really look like it practice? Today I had the pleasure of sitting down with Joe Sheehey, co-founder of Cured Nutrition, and long-time repeat guest on the show to talk about all things leadership and culture. Joe has consistently served as an example of what true, intentional, loving leadership looks like, and he has the team culture to show for it. This episode is an absolute must for anyone looking to lead - whether that's a business, a family, or anything in between. 3 John 10 For this reason, if I come, I will call attention to his deeds which he does, unjustly accusing us with wicked words; and not satisfied with this, he himself does not receive the brethren, either, and he forbids those who desire to do so and puts them out of the church. To provide a little context, it is thought that this letter was written at the time in the history of the church where the church was transitioning from apostolic administration of the churches to post-apostolic, bishop-led oversight of the churches. Diotrophes apparently was sympathetic to the new system, and in fact, was ambitious to be recognized as an authority in the church. In the previous verse John cited that he loved to be first among the elders. However, Diotrophes' ambition had led him astray and exposed his true character. He had slandered John and the other apostles with wicked words. And if that were not enough, he closed the door to John's emissaries and furthermore shut out anyone in the church who didn't follow his example and policies. Today, we would say he censored everyone who didn't agree with him. What would love do in such a situation? John had learned from Jesus to expose the evil deeds and false words of wolves in sheep's clothing. “Beware of the false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly are ravenous wolves” (Matt. 7:15). So he promised Gaius that if he came, he would expose Diotrophes' evil deeds. Sometimes as we live to love with Jesus, if we are in positions of authority, we will have to call attention to the destructive words and examples of false prophets or fellow brothers in Christ who have been led astray by them. Apparently, Gaius did not have jurisdiction over Diotrophes, or he would have recommended that he exercise that shepherding task. This reminds us that just because we see someone doing wrong that unless we have jurisdiction, it is not our responsibility to publicly denounce or correct them. John obviously believed he had the jurisdiction to speak to Diotrophes and to the church. He had written him to no avail, so he contemplated his responsibility to the churches and his little children. Let's remember that this letter wasn't to the church, but to Gaius, an individual. John wasn't publicly judging Diotrophes. We are observing how leaders should or should not confronting problems. As we live to love with Jesus, let us remember to recognize who has jurisidiction, speak out to expose evil deeds if we have a shepherding responsibility, and be careful that our words and actions are not driven by self-ambition or jealousy.

1 Corinthians - A Loving Church
On this first podcast we talk about the new online coffee business, our new book release, and I share keys on leading as a Woman of Color...
Becoming Unapologetically Me is the podcast for people who know there is more stuck inside them and they want to find a way to release it. As season 2 starts, host Helen Norbury shares her excitement for the upcoming season as well as some reflections on season 1. The brief break between seasons has felt like the longest time but finally Helen is excited to introduce even more amazing guests who are joining her throughout the season to dive DEEP into the subjects of trauma, clarity of purpose and leadership. Helen reflects that the impact of trauma on children was a key reason for her getting into business and how she personally made the decision to be a cycle breaker in her family so that trauma would not continue to be passed from generation to generation, as otherwise happens. Helen's first three guests dive deep into different aspects of trauma, each impacted from childhood in their own particular ways. As always, Helen likes to focus on how those childhood experiences can be alchemised into a positive adult life, which gives the perfect segue way into the subject of SELF. With her guests, Helen gets deep into the subjects of self-worth, self-love, self-acceptance, self-trust, self-awareness and many more aspects of SELF as an unapologetic expression of who you are. The other four guests through season 2 help Helen explore clarity of purpose and leadership. The inner critic voices still pop up - do they ever totally leave! - even for kick-ass leaders. Helen talks excitedly about her upcoming conversations with some powerful female leaders and starts to mention about the new style of leadership that she will explore in a later episode - Loving Leadership. This could not be further away from the command and control style of yesteryear. This is yet another manifestation of Helen Becoming Unapologetically Me and her hope is this season will inspire you even more deeply to find and become the unapologetic version of YOU too. These conversations have the potential to change your life in ways you can't yet fathom.Key TakeawaysDiving deep into the shadows of ourself can have a fundamental impact on our self-love and self-acceptanceKeeping connected to the truth, rather than our stories, helps create a deep inner peaceAre we doing everything today to create the future legacy we want to leave for our childrenLoving Leadership is a new powerful model of leadership combining dynamic and magnetic energiesLearn to let go and embrace welcoming great things into your lifeDon't forget to subscribe and rate us so we can grow and help more people.Visit www.helenannenorbury.co.uk for more information.www.instagram.com/helenannenorburyhttps://www.facebook.com/helen.mackellar.7https://www.linkedin.com/in/helen-norbury/www.helenannenorbury.co.uk
Evil Effects Of Loving Leadership & Fame - Ustadh Abu Ukkashah Abdul-Hakeem by Learn About Islam
“You are only responsible for your action or inaction. That's half the equation. What's the other half? All outcomes… belong to God.” -Joseph Warren Anger and stress can be a massive drain on our personal lives and careers. They not only take a toll on mental health, but they can also impact our relationships— with other people and most importantly, with ourselves. Feelings of anger or frustration cause us to lash out at others unwittingly. Moreover, male anger is often mislabeled as aggression or hostility. This makes it difficult for us, as men, to express our emotions or ask for help when we're having a hard time. Besides, it can also lead to poor performance at work because it makes it difficult to focus on what needs doing. It's easy to get caught up in anger and lose track of what's important. That's where stress comes in. So instead of focusing on how angry or stressed out we feel right now, we can choose to focus on finding ways to deal with these feelings so they don't become overwhelming or damaging. In this episode, I got to sit down with the #1 Podcast Host of Broken Catholic and Your FIRST $100K and spiritual coach at The Men's Anger Coach™. Joseph started his business at 19 and was able to semi-retire for some time. However, the dark side of success had him covered in dark clouds. He was filled with anger and anxiety, his wealth was exhausted, and he almost lost his life on many occasions. Until… he found his greater purpose in life and his life began to turn around— both in his personal life and career. Joseph and I discuss how to blow up these rocks that hinder our growth. We also talk about the real cause of anger and stress and the necessary steps we need to take in order to manage these emotions. These steps are not easy, but as Joseph says, are guaranteed effective. How do we know? Tune in to find out! Ephesians 5:22-33
How are high-control leaders like Neanderthals? And why is Loving Leadership both effective & difficult? In this podcast, Mr. Chapman engages the classic short-staffing training exercise as a way to describe to leaders how to empower caregivers more effectively & durably. He outlines a three-step process to improve late responses: the accountable apology, genuine compassion & competent action. High control leaders operate from the most primitive part of their brains. Loving leadership engages the highest capabilities of the mind. The biggest impact on team member energy comes from leaders. Through the pattern of idea, action & reflection, leaders understand how orders to act become invitations to collaborate.
Bart Box - 1 Peter 5:1-5
This episode addresses some of the tools leaders use to bring change. Surgeons use scalpels, nurses administer shots, housekeepers use brooms. What are the leader’s tools? Mr. Chapman discusses how vision is a tool. He addresses the difference between medical training and leader training. Doctors round to diagnose & treat. Leaders need to use their rounding as a way to raise energy. This means leaders need to practice affirmation, use questions & offer presence. All of these are “tools.” Affirmation changes brain chemistry. Questions signal values and impact the physics of job performance. How should leaders engage caregivers in ways that transform culture?
In this episode, Mr. Chapman addresses how the leader’s presence, language & demeanor impacts team and organizational energy. It discusses leaders as “energy managers” as a way of explaining that leaders literally impact brain chemistry, and that this impact begins the moment the leader enters a room filled with staff. Does the “light” go up or down? When leaders engage positive language, then energy rises. Loving leadership is contagious. So is fear-based language. Culture change happens when leaders actively engage love’s power.

Ron Paul is someone I have always admired and looked up to. Ron is a classy man, a terrific father, and an extremely successful businessman. Ron is a humble man but his accomplishments include being named “Community Banker of the Year” for the Eastern Region, by the Independent Community Bankers of America, Named by Washington Business Journal as a member of the Washington, DC area “Power 100”, and being inducted into the “Washington Business Hall of Fame”. Yet, while his accolades in business are many, he brims with pride when talking about his family and the philanthropic work he has done to fight kidney disease and different forms of cancer. Ron is a high character human who has faced all kinds of set-backs in his life, yet he maintains a strong sense of self and understanding of his values. If you want to learn more about his work in fighting kidney disease you can check out the Ron & Joy Paul Kidney Center here. Thanks to Ron for the time and being so open.
We’re hearing more and more about including love in the way we lead. This may seem like a new topic in relationship to work, but we believe it is imperative. It’s an approach rooted in the deepest human needs of every person within our organizations. When we can understand the needs our team members have to be loved and fill that need in appropriate ways, there are powerful things that will happen. Colin’s guest on this episode is Anne Shannon, a woman who understands these issues and consults with teams and companies to great success. You can hear Ann’s insights about loving leadership and the impact it has, on this episode. Basic human needs for love can even be met in the workplace. We all have the need for love. Hardly anyone would contest that assertion. But is it something that should even be on the radar in the workplace? Ann Shannon says it should be a high priority for leaders because when a team member has the sense that they are loved and belong, the entire team benefits. Beyond that, clients will be served better when an entire team is a cohesive unit that does its job well. If it sounds strange to you to hear the words “love” and “business” in the same sentence, you may want to hear what Ann has to say on this episode. Is there a gender difference when it comes to showing love in the workplace? The stereotypes would insist that women are better at showing love in a team context than men are, but is it true? There’s not a hard and fast rule. Women may generally find it easier to express love than men but there’s no evidence that men are averse to expressing care for their co-workers, they just show it differently and may take longer to get there. In this conversation Colin and his guest Ann Shannon discuss the powerful impact a healthy approach to love in the workplace can have and how leaders are on the hook to lead the way in expressing care for the people they lead. In the competitive world of sports, we can accomplish much more together than we can apart. An important area Ann Shannon has been working in more often these days is that of sports leadership. Though sport is an area of great competition she’s finding that bringing connections between the competitors, both on and off the field, is producing incredible results that go far beyond the end result of a scoreboard. On this episode of Leaders, Bosses, and Bastards you can hear how Ann is seeing administrators, coaches, and players come together for the good of society and produce benefits to communities and individuals that flow out of their participation in sports. It’s an intriguing subject you’ll enjoy hearing about. Is the idea of inclusion just an excuse to favor some people and make others feel bad? One of the arguments against the idea of inclusion and sensitivity training is that the end result is that people come away feeling pigeon-holed as the “bad guy” in the workplace rather than truly understanding the supposed problem that is said to exist. But Ann Shannon insists that the real point of inclusion training is not to beat up anybody or insist that people are bad, but to highlight the way that real people in the workplace feel about their role and position within the organization, and to help everyone work better together as a result. On this episode, Ann shares how she approaches inclusion training with an aim to enable everyone involved to feel more valuable within the organization.
