Palm Sunday 2025 Exodus 12:1-6 ESV The Lord said to Moses and Aaron in the land of Egypt, 2 “This month shall be for you the beginning of months. It shall be the first month of the year for you. 3 Tell all the congregation of Israel that on the tenth day of this month every man shall take a lamb according to their fathers' houses, a lamb for a household. 4 And if the household is too small for a lamb, then he and his nearest neighbor shall take according to the number of persons; according to what each can eat you shall make your count for the lamb. 5 Your lamb shall be without blemish, a male a year old. You may take it from the sheep or from the goats, 6 and you shall keep it until the fourteenth day of this month, when the whole assembly of the congregation of Israel shall kill their lambs at twilight. Exodus 12:12-14 ESV 12 For I will pass through the land of Egypt that night, and I will strike all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both man and beast; and on all the gods of Egypt I will execute judgments: I am the Lord. 13 The blood shall be a sign for you, on the houses where you are. And when I see the blood, I will pass over you, and no plague will befall you to destroy you, when I strike the land of Egypt. Matthew 21:1-11 ESV Now when they drew near to Jerusalem and came to Bethphage, to the Mount of Olives, then Jesus sent two disciples, 2 saying to them, “Go into the village in front of you, and immediately you will find a donkey tied, and a colt with her. Untie them and bring them to me. 3 If anyone says anything to you, you shall say, ‘The Lord needs them,' and he will send them at once.” 4 This took place to fulfill what was spoken by the prophet, saying, 5 “Say to the daughter of Zion, ‘Behold, your king is coming to you, humble, and mounted on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a beast of burden.'” 6 The disciples went and did as Jesus had directed them. 7 They brought the donkey and the colt and put on them their cloaks, and he sat on them. 8 Most of the crowd spread their cloaks on the road, and others cut branches from the trees and spread them on the road. 9 And the crowds that went before him and that followed him were shouting, “Hosanna to the Son of David! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord! Hosanna in the highest!” 10 And when he entered Jerusalem, the whole city was stirred up, saying, “Who is this?” 11 And the crowds said, “This is the prophet Jesus, from Nazareth of Galilee.” Luke 19:39-40 ESV 39 And some of the Pharisees in the crowd said to him, “Teacher, rebuke your disciples.” 40 He answered, “I tell you, if these were silent, the very stones would cry out.” Habbakuk 2:11, 9-10 NIV 11 The stones of the wall will cry out, and the beams of the woodwork will echo it. 9 “Woe to him who builds his house by unjust gain, setting his nest on high to escape the clutches of ruin! 10 You have plotted the ruin of many peoples, shaming your own house and forfeiting your life. Luke 19:41-44 ESV 41 And when he drew near and saw the city, he wept over it, 42 saying, “Would that you, even you, had known on this day the things that make for peace! But now they are hidden from your eyes. 43 For the days will come upon you, when your enemies will set up a barricade around you and surround you and hem you in on every side 44 and tear you down to the ground, you and your children within you. And they will not leave one stone upon another in you, because you did not know the time of your visitation.” 2 Kings 9:13 ESV 13 Then in haste every man of them took his garment and put it under him on the bare steps, and they blew the trumpet and proclaimed, “Jehu is king.” Psalm 118:25-26 ESV Save us, we pray, O Lord! O Lord, we pray, give us success! 26 Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord! We bless you from the house of the Lord. 1 Macabees 13:51 NRSVU 51 On the twenty-third day of the second month, in the one hundred seventy-first year, the Jews entered it with praise and palm branches, and with harps and cymbals and stringed instruments, and with hymns and songs, because a great enemy had been crushed and removed from Israel.

135. Mikeitz/Chanukah: Fight for Peace The message of Chanukah is that some things are worth fighting for. When dark forces, within our homes or without, threaten to overwhelm us, we need to fight for peace. The Macabees showed us how to sacrifice everything and connect to the yechida in our soul, where true peace prevails and leaves no room for opposition. Each Shabbos, our candles symbolize the same. The small flame of a 3 year old girl does much to replace darkness with joy, respite, and peace. Imagine that all the the flames of our Shabbos and Chanukah lights come together. They would burst into a great big bonfire to overcome all darkness and usher in the final days of “no hunger or war, no competition or jealousy.” Likkutei Sichos, Chelek Tes vov. Pg 372
Fr. Mike focuses on the powerful theme that connects all of our readings today- the reality of life beyond death. In the story of the martyrdom of the seven brothers in 2 Macabees, we see how the brothers and their mother fiercely reject the temptation to violate God's law, and boldly hold onto their hope in the resurrection of the dead. Our readings from Wisdom also remind us that death is not the end, because we know that eternal life is waiting for us beyond death. Today's readings are 2 Maccabees 7, Wisdom 3-4, and Proverbs 24:27-29. For the complete reading plan, visit ascensionpress.com/bibleinayear. On our 2nd Part of Feast Days Of Joy Jesus takes us through the Feast of Weeks. Jesus leads us also to touch on the Feast of Dedication aka Hanukkah mentioned in John 10:22-40 & in the Apocrypha 1 Macabees 4.It contains the story of the Macabbees who won Jerusalem and the Temple back from a general of Alexander the Great, Antiochus Epiphanes who was a type or example of the antichrist. This Feast actually was just observed. Jesus leads us to continue in Leviticus 23:10-23 with the Feast of weeks Which is identified with the wheat harvest and is directly associated with the feast of first fruits. It involves being thankful to God in faith with an offering of the 1st pick of the harvest.50 days after Jesus was crucified it is also the day of Pentecost in the new testament with the pouring out of the holy spirit the amazing blessing of the 1st church. https://www.smucd.org/blog https://www.smucd.org/donate #SMUCD #JESUS #Baptism #BLIND #SIGHT #Rest #Slavery #Earings #Israel #TheBible #BlackHistory #Anotherexodus #peace #works #grace #deuteronomy28 #christ #prophecy #Hebrews #Sermons #Oneness #thePast #TheFuture #Revelation #Newtestament #Oldtestament #conversation #TheMultitude #radio #Holy #refined #thefire #HolySpirit #mercy #wisdom #Proverbs #Acts #Peter #Paul #Apostles #fellowship #seek #knocking #Skills #talents #crafts #Arts #building #Raisingstones #Raising #Refining #ANTICHRIST #CRYPTOCURRENCY #BEASTSYSTEM #144,000 #Onehundredfourtyfourthousand #AThousandyearsofPeace #JesusReignsSupreme #NewJerusalem #Abraham #Sarah #Bedioun #Feastdays #Jewsfeastdays #BiblicalFeastdays --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/smucd-podcast/message

This Message reveals the excellent possibility of the ANTICHRIST being revealed between HANUKKAH (Dec. 7 to the 15th) and CHRISTMAS (Dec.25). We look at the preview of the ANTICHRIST in Antiochus Epiphanes IV outlawing the Jewish beliefs, slaughtering Jews, setting up a pagan idol in the temple and being defeated by the MACABEES, who cleansed the temple. Also we look at the origin of CHRISTMAS and the part that the spirit of Antichrist plays in the celebration of the holiday! Happy All Hallow's Eve - a chance to meditate on those things we usually keep 'in the dark.' We'll learn a bit about the tradition of Souling and Soul Cakes and then revisit an episode all about Praying for the Dead. We'll do a deep dive into the eerie melancholy and beauty of graveyards and why we should go pray, read poetry, and spend time in churchyards among the Dead. Why graveyards can be peaceful and romantic - the importance of 'memento mori' - and three famous 'graveyard poems.' Ending the episode with some fantastic music from some bluegrass loving Friars. Palm Sunday 2023 Exodus 12:3-7, 12-13 NIV 3 Tell the whole community of Israel that on the tenth day of this month each man is to take a lamb for his family, one for each household. 4 If any household is too small for a whole lamb, they must share one with their nearest neighbor, having taken into account the number of people there are. You are to determine the amount of lamb needed in accordance with what each person will eat. 5 The animals you choose must be year-old males without defect, and you may take them from the sheep or the goats. 6 Take care of them until the fourteenth day of the month, when all the members of the community of Israel must slaughter them at twilight. 7 Then they are to take some of the blood and put it on the sides and tops of the doorframes of the houses where they eat the lambs. 12 “On that same night I will pass through Egypt and strike down every firstborn of both people and animals, and I will bring judgment on all the gods of Egypt. I am the Lord. 13 The blood will be a sign for you on the houses where you are, and when I see the blood, I will pass over you. No destructive plague will touch you when I strike Egypt. Matthew 21:1-5 NIV As they approached Jerusalem and came to Bethphage on the Mount of Olives, Jesus sent two disciples, 2 saying to them, “Go to the village ahead of you, and at once you will find a donkey tied there, with her colt by her. Untie them and bring them to me. 3 If anyone says anything to you, say that the Lord needs them, and he will send them right away.” 4 This took place to fulfill what was spoken through the prophet: 5 “Say to Daughter Zion, ‘See, your king comes to you, gentle and riding on a donkey, and on a colt, the foal of a donkey.'” Matthew 21:6-9 NIV 6 The disciples went and did as Jesus had instructed them. 7 They brought the donkey and the colt and placed their cloaks on them for Jesus to sit on. 8 A very large crowd spread their cloaks on the road, while others cut branches from the trees and spread them on the road.9 The crowds that went ahead of him and those that followed shouted, “Hosanna to the Son of David!” “Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!” “Hosanna in the highest heaven!” 2 Kings 9:13 NIV 13 They quickly took their cloaks and spread them under him on the bare steps. Then they blew the trumpet and shouted, “Jehu is king!” Psalm 118:25-26 25 Lord, save us! Lord, grant us success! 26 Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord. John 12:12-13 NIV 12 The next day the great crowd that had come for the festival heard that Jesus was on his way to Jerusalem. 13 They took palm branches and went out to meet him, shouting, “Hosanna!” “Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!” “Blessed is the king of Israel!” 1 Macabees 13:51 51 On the twenty-third day of the second month, in the one hundred seventy-first year, the Jews entered it [Jerusalem] with praise and palm branches, and with harps and cymbals and stringed instruments, and with hymns and songs, because a great enemy had been crushed and removed from Israel. The enemy wants you to give up your purpose and destiny. But you must fight back. Phillppians 3:12-1 4, “ Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect: but I follow after, if that I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus. Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.” You are pressing into areas that will hold you captive in 2023. God is allowing some of this so you can aware of what the enemy could rob you of in 2023. The pressing reveals what you are made of. Get up from laziness and apathy and begin to start moving forward. Macabees had to fight back to take the temple and even in the little bit God created a miracle for expanse. This new anointing is coming forth because you are pressing into this high calling. We are birthing destiny Now in Jesus name. Harness this and bring legacy forth.

Untie them and bring them to me. 3 If anyone says anything to you, say that the Lord needs them, and he will send them right away.” 4 This took place to fulfill what was spoken through the prophet: 5 “Say to Daughter Zion, ‘See, your king comes to you, gentle and riding on a donkey, and on a colt, the foal of a donkey.'” 6 The disciples went and did as Jesus had instructed them. 7 They brought the donkey and the colt and placed their cloaks on them for Jesus to sit on. 8 A very large crowd spread their cloaks on the road, while others cut branches from the trees and spread them on the road. 9 The crowds that went ahead of him and those that followed shouted, “Hosanna to the Son of David!” “Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!” “Hosanna in the highest heaven!” 10 When Jesus entered Jerusalem, the whole city was stirred and asked, “Who is this?” 11 The crowds answered, “This is Jesus, the prophet from Nazareth in Galilee.” Psalm 118:26-26 NIV Lord, save us! Lord, grant us success! 26 Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord. 1 Macabees 13:51 51 On the twenty-third day of the second month, in the one hundred seventy-first year, the Jews entered it [Jerusalem] with praise and palm branches, and with harps and cymbals and stringed instruments, and with hymns and songs, because a great enemy had been crushed and removed from Israel.
For two programs this week, the number 25 is probably considered lucky. For many, it represents the bottom of a Top 25 ranking, but for those in the 25th slot ... it means they are ranked. St. John Fisher women's basketball hasn't been ranked since "Desperate Housewives," "Boston Legal," "The Shield," and "Fear Factor" where some of the most popular shows on television. The top movie was "Coach Carter." However, Coach Melissa Kuberka has gotten her Cardinals squad back into the rankings after a terrific start to the 2021-22 season. We talk to her about the team's success and how the rest of the season could shape up. For DeSales men's basketball, there were signs they were going to be good during the COVID season. Not all teams are able to duplicate that short-season success, but the Bulldogs are off to an undefeated start. Coach Scott Coval discusses just how good the team is and why we haven't seen the unit at it's very best. Plus, one can still break a backboard in today's game? DeSales found out it is possible. Plus, Yeshiva men's hoops is getting plenty of attention now that they have been ranked #1 in the D3hoops.com Top 25 poll the last few weeks. But do you really know the Macabees and their program? We talk to Gary Belsky who wrote an expose on the program for ESPN. It's a must read and a must listen to segment. And UW-Eau Claire Athletics have big plans for future Blugolds and DIII championships. Introducing the $107 million Sonnetag Center which includes a $70 million dollar gift. AD Dan Schumacher discusses the significant way UWEC could shift championships and even regional recruiting by 2024. Hoopsville broadcasts from the NABC Studio. Please note: The Bible contains adult themes that may not be suitable for children - parental discretion is advised.

In this episode I discuss how as Catholics, our faith centers around the belief in the existence of ONLY ONE GOD. We will address some of His characteristics. We could know some of these characteristics through reason alone, but they were also positively revealed by Him: for example, that he IS, that He is Infinite, all-powerful and creator of all things. We will also look at the consequences of this belief, particularly, how we owe him WORSHIP and obedience, and we should depend completely on His Divine Providence. “Since creatures have received everything they are and have from God, only God in himself is the fullness of being and of every perfection. God is “He who is” without origin and without end.” [CCCC #39] God is the creator of every reality outside of Himself, both material and spiritual. He has created by a free choice of his will, neither out of necessity, nor out of a kind of “natural” overflowing of His Being. Finally, this world did not come to be by a blind “chance”. When God created everything, He used neither any “pre-existing matter” nor “anything at all” from which He made everything—not even a part of Himself. On the contrary, He created everything out of nothing (“ex nihilo”). “We believe that God needs no pre-existent thing or any help in order to create, nor is creation any sort of necessary emanation from the divine substance. God creates freely “out of nothing”.” (Catechism 296) See 2 Macabees 7:21-28. Moreover, God continues to maintain the world in its being, He is holding us in the palm of his hand (see Isaiah 49:16). We speak about the consequences of these truths for our lives: (1) We should recognize his infinite GREATNESS and our “nothingness”. (2) We should learn to ADORE God and obey Him. (3) We should live with an attitude of THANKSGIVING for everything we have and for everything He does for us. (4) We should also learn to value and defend the intrinsic DIGNITY OF ALL MEN, created in the image and likeness of God. (5) We should make good use of all created things, using them for the glory of God and our Salvation. (6) We should depend entirely on his DIVINE PROVIDENCE, entrusting ourselves to Him like a child in the arms of his mother, even in adversity. Spanish version of St. Teresa's Poem: “Nada te turbe, nada te espante todo se pasa, Dios no se muda, la paciencia todo lo alcanza, quien a Dios tiene nada le falta solo Dios basta.” (Poemas, 30) Toward the end, I quote Psalm 91:1-5. - - - - - - - - - - Miles Christi Religious Order website: https://www.mileschristi.org - This Podcast's Website: https://www.forcollegecatholics.org - To learn about the Spiritual Exercises (silent weekend retreat), visit: https://www.mileschristi.org/spiritual-exercises/ Recorded at our Family Center in South Lyon, Michigan.
This week's episode features Dr. Joel Snider and focuses on Acts 11:19-29.It's easy to note how leadership in Acts transitions from Peter to Paul. Often overlooked, however, is the transition from Jerusalem as the center of Christian activity to Antioch.Multiple kings in the Selucid Empire were named Antiochus, which means something like “helper.” Antioch was named for one of these kings. The most notable Antiochus for students of the Bible is Antiochus Epiphanese (IV), who persecuted the Jews of Judea during the time of the Macabees. See Acts 13 for more about the missionary work initiated by this early church.
You may be a modern-day Maccabee!During this holiday season, we are wise to remind those we love, and those we are reaching for, of the vital connection between Chanukah and Christmas. For years we have been explaining, “How Chanukah Saved Christmas!” If the valiant Maccabees had not stood up to the Greco/Syrian tyrants, the nation of Israel would have been destroyed in 167 B.C. and the birth of Yeshua would have been eliminated, BUT God enabled a small band of faithful religious leaders to defeat a worldwide plot. The parallels with today's world are inescapable. Once again, it is up to the “people of the book” to stand for freedom of speech, freedom to worship, and freedom to gather as believers in the God of Abraham Isaac and Jacob. Will we be like the Maccabees?Support the show (https://www.mylesandkatharineweiss.org/donate/)

Does the ‘chanukia’ simply model the Menorah of the Mishkan -with an extra candle? Our session will begin by comparing the ‘Menorah’ to the other vessels of the Mishkan, in an attempt to better understand what it symbolizes. Afterward, we will turn to the prophet Chagai and the book of Macabees to appreciate why the Menorah became the national symbol of the Second Temple period – which will shed light on our Rabbinic tradition of lighting a ‘chanukia’ on Chanuka.

Matt walks us through all of what was going on the Sunday that Jesus arrived in Jerusalem. The military/messianic expectations Jesus walked into came from a variety of sources including misread Old Testament prophecies, the revolution of the Macabees in 164 BC, and disfavor with the Romans. Amidst this backdrop, Jesus enters riding a symbol […]
