The Supreme Court began hearing oral arguments in two cases involving vaccination requirements with the Court's conservative Chief Justice, John Roberts, stating it is an issue for Congress. The mandates would roughly affect 100 million Americans. CNBC's Kayla Tausche has the latest Washington DC. Six of the president's former Covid advisors are calling for a new national pandemic strategy that would involve adapting to a new normal. Adaptions would include rebuilding public healthcare infrastructure, improving testing, and continued vaccine research. CNBC's Senior Health and Science reporter Meg Tirrell explains what these advisors are calling for. The crisis in Kazakhstan continues to worsen as their authoritarian president ordered the country's security forces to open fire without warning amid a desperate and violent crackdown on protesters. It comes after demonstrations against the government snowballed from anger over a fuel price hike into the most serious unrest the Central Asian nation has faced in decades.
